Well said. I have some minor quibbles.

In #1, what national holidays? What is is a holiday from? Where in the newly brushed off Constitution does it say anything about National Holidays? On April 15th, after Lew nukes the IRS, I’ll be happy to take a day off at my own choosing to tell my younger in-laws who were educated in gooferment skoolz that there once was a time when theft by a gang of very bad men holed up in a Maryland swamp were so strong that they convinced people that they should send half of their production to that swamp. But, I don’t need a gooferment holiday to do that!

In #14, I don’t agree in the redemption method. I think all those green pieces of paper need redemption and that all those unfunded promises need to be made whole, but how to do it is my quibble. I think all those federal assets need to be sold off for the creditors.

In #28, rights aren’t given! They may be restored from their previous infringement but they are after all inalienable.

All in all, I thing the schedule needs a little shuffling, but the next month should be fun!

It takes gooferment to kill large numbers of people. Failing to recognize that fact is what enables it to happen.

I guess I was “fortunate” as a child to meet and talk with people who either survived or whose parents survived three of the major genocides — the Shoah, the Armenian killings, and the Irish Black ‘n’ Tans persecution. We were taught in school about the American Indian, the Russian Gualgs, Mao’s Starvation, and the Cambodian Killing Fields.

As such, I know no matter what gooferments would like to pretend it happened.

If paradigms are the way we see things and meme are our ideas, then the cooperation paradigm as implemented in the meme of gooferment is very dangerous. Like playing with fire, gooferment can burn us.

He still has no executive experience. And, he is a Big Government Democrat. (A duplication in terms.) I think all the candidates with the exception of Ron Paul are socialists. Not one of the others seeks to reduce the size of the government. With out being nasty, these candidates are just more of the same stuff. (I leave it to the imagination what kind of stuff I think they are full of.)

IMHO All you really need to ask is one question. How does the candidate stand on gun control? It’s the litmus test of freedom and liberty. If they are for gun control, then they want to be able to control the people. If they are against it, then they trust the people.

As I see it, there are either of two memes: (1) people are basically good; or (2) people are basically bad. If they are good, then we only need a small government to protect our freedoms from force or fraud. If they are bad, then we want a small weak government because when bad people get in control of it we will be oppressed.

Either way, we need a much much smaller government. I’ve been working for a number of years and the government has continually taxed me heavily for services that I neither want, nor asked for. When the taxes are confiscatory, rebellion is the only answer.

Over the years, the government has become adept at hiding how much we are paying. I’ve seen estimates between 40% and 100%+. (The hundred per centers attempt to calculate the inflation tax paid by anyone holding dollars or things denominated in dollars. Hence your savings are being silently confiscated!) Even if we take a low number like 50%, when I say some one takes from me by threat of force (Taxes are NOT voluntary!) half of my production, am I not half a slave?

When Biden recants his Big Government voting record, then we can have another conversation. Until then, I’m immune to their siren songs of how good it will be if we just get the right people in office.

Now while I personally think these “Wars” — on “terror”, on “drugs”, in Iraq, in Afganistan, and in a myriad of other venues — are lost, I want my fellow vets to step up and speak up. I maintain we haven’t been in a Constitutional War since World War 2. Nor have we be in a War of national defense since 1812. War is too important to be left to these chicken sh … ahh, hawk REMFs. I never personally experienced “hot fire” but just having been exposed to the chance I might changed me. Changed from a Hollywood John Wayne Fort Apache Back to Batan starry eyed kid to a mature confirmed libertarian. When the invaders hit the US of A, then I’m a hawk. Till then I’m a porcupine. And, I want every combat vet or near combat vet to tell these congress critters that we are not going to take their “barbara streisand” any more. Bring the troops home and make good on the promise of medical care for our fellow vets who were wounded without a lot of administrative red tape.

I know a UofM alum. I wonder what he thinks of this story. All too often, we forget that these “schools” are extensions of the gooferment and subject to the same Constitutional restrictions as any other part of the gooferment.

Sorry, I grew up on Robin Hood movie where the Church gave sanctuary from the King and the pueblo Franciscan gave sanctuary to the poor Mexican peasants. If an escaping slave in pre-Civil War America took refuge in a Church, then shouldn’t the practice of sanctuary have protected him.

If fact, imho, the First Amendment renders the gooferment impotent when it comes to Churches. Churches generically including all Houses of Worship. Just as we’ll free a hundred guilty men to keep one innocent man from being wrongly convicted, so to we will suspend our pursuits of “evil doers” when Houses of Worship are involved.

Now, let’s examine the validity of “immigration law”. Working within the historical perspective of Dred Scott, not every law is to be obeyed. On what Constitutional basis does Congress derive the power to regulate immigration. Seems from my reading that it is a topic that was left with the individual States.

Now let’s think about stray cats and the Statue of Liberty. If you feed stray cats, then don’t be surprised when you are overrun by freeloaders. One of the problems I have with soup kitchens feeding the “homeless” is that it encourages more “homeless”. The Statue of Liberty states America’s willingness to accept ALL yearning to be free. And, willing to work to earn their keep. So immigration law is to prevent freeloading immigrants. But, I object to freeloading natives just as much. So if we eliminate welfare, free medical care, and free education, then we can also eliminate the concept of “illegal immigrant”. I envision the “immigration fence” replaced with a red carpet that says “Welcome to America”, right this way for your free physical, and “do you need any directions?”. We make the operator of the plane or boat responsible for the return trip of the sick or criminals. And open up the Golden Door.

America can be the shining city again.

Sorry, Mike Gallagher, I think your wrong about sanctuary. The conservative big gooferment statists are as wrong as the liberal big gooferment statists. It’s only with a return to the Original Intent will we find the energy that made America a once great nation. Gooferment only makes all of us poorer and less free.
