MONEY: What to hold and in what form?

Thursday, October 9, 2025
<<PRICES ARE AS OF 2025-10Oct-03>>

In my mind, what form of “gold” should I be buying?
  • Dollar cost averaging into ₿ at Swan.com has been an easy winner.
  • GOLDBACKs despite a significant seigniorage  —  now with 1 oz gold spot $3,892.75; then 1000 GOLDBACKS is about $7,820 per ounce equals about 100%  —  makes it unsuitable for holding any significant amount of gold in GOLDBACKs. But one can have extremely small (i.e., ½ GOLDBACK = 1/2000 T Oz. for $3.91 for 0.0005 of an Oz) amount of gold that can’t be replicated in a physical form at any price.  Smallest physical gold product is 1 gram = 0.0176 of an ounce for about 90$ which equates to 15K$ per oz.
  • SILVERBACKs have even a worse ratio.
  • SILVER can be held in 1 ounce rounds or pre-1964 US Coins aka junk silver.  One ounce rounds can be bought at about $50 per oz which is about $2 over the spot price.  Seigniorage is about 4.25%
  • GOLD can be bought in 1 ounce generic rounds for $4,002.85; spot is 3,893.85. Seigniorage is about 2.79%
It’s a hard call because of the high cost barrier to entry.  To be practical, 20 oz of gold (one sleeve) is 80k$ and a sleeve of silver is $1k.

Feels like silver is the way to go.

YMMV

GUNS: In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!

FROM FACEBOOK

Terri Dufrene

Some words to the wise. Shooting Advice from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a gun, you will appreciate this. If not, you should get one and learn how to use it:

  • Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians.
  • It’s always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
  • Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.
  • Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arms length.
  • Never say “I’ve got a gun.” If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off. (I prefer the sound of a round being chambered when you load a shotgun)
  • The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes, the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.
  • The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win – cheat if necessary.
  • Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he’ll have to beat you to death with it, cause it’ll be empty.
  • If you’re in a gun fight:
    1. If you’re not shooting, you should be loading.
    2. If you’re not loading, you should be moving,
    3. If you’re not moving’, you’re dead.
In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!
  • If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about? (I call it being prepared)
  • You can say ‘stop’ or ‘alto’ or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone’s head is pretty much a universal language. AMEN!
  • You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.

If you believe in the 2nd Amendment, please forward.

I remember reading that freezing occurs when the brain can’t quickly determine the best action.

Like in a crisis: 10% panic, 80% freeze or ignore it, and 10% act.

In USAF basic training, immediate obedience to orders was “DRILLED” into us.  I remember one DI yelling at another boot: “Just don’t stand there, DO <synonym for the act of procreation in real time> SOMETHING NOW!”  It made a huge impression on me. Laugh!  Scary lessons last forever?

People took the time to gather books they were reading and other things. They would shut down their computers before they left. But most of all, the first thing people did was to talk to each other.

During the FRIST WTC bombing, when the alarms went off, I was away from my office.  My second-in-command called me and said: “The alarms are going off and we have been told to ignore it.”  My first words to her were: “You evacuate our people NOW.  Ignore everything and leave PDQ.”  She responded:  “ said we can’t and won’t get paid.”  I said: “Evacuate now and I’ll take the heat.”  To which I got: “Yes SIR” in a very snotty tone, Laugh!  Later when my team was home safely, and were checking on a conference call that we always had set up, she reported that as they were leaving so was Honcho So and So. In our “after action” meeting in our “lessons learned”, it was entered on the board by her, “If an alarm sounds, evacuate first and then figure out all the other stuff.”  N.B. Mister so and so left the company about a month later with no explanations.

Not that I was smart or a great leader, I just didn’t want to kill anyone with stupidity.

“Yesterday, I learned, that when someone makes a decision based on their heart, mind, soul, and experience, — good or bad — agree or disagree, the time for me to opine, cajole or even argue is OVER. And the time for support, understanding, and “damage control” has begun.” — Ferdinand J. Reinke 2019-Sep-22. I don’t remember why I saved this quote but it seems always appropriate.

“I particularly like unlimited concealed carry. If the criminal regards the general public as sheep to be shorn, then let’s sprinkle in a few “sheepdogs” with big teeth in the flock.

Guess which gay to bash? Buzz, wrong, you picked a Pink Pistol and you’re dead!

GUNS: When governments disarm the people, freedom does not survive

Lockstep: Digital ID, Canada’s Tyranny Deadline, Christian Persecution Rises | Daily Pulse Ep 117
ZeeeMedia

*** begin quote ***

STORY #2 – Canada has given citizens one year to surrender their firearms, calling it a “voluntary” buyback. But the reality is clear—by October 2026, anyone who refuses will face criminal charges.

Officials claim no one is being forced, yet once the deadline passes, simply keeping your own property will make you a criminal. That isn’t voluntary—it’s mandatory thinly disguised as choice.

History leaves no room for doubt. The British disarmed the colonies before the Revolution. The Ottomans before the Armenian genocide. The Soviets and Cambodians before mass killings. Even Australia, long praised as a model, later sent soldiers into the streets during COVID—dragging citizens into quarantine camps against their will.

The warning is unmistakable: when governments disarm the people, freedom does not survive. The question now is whether Canadians will defend their rights—or watch history repeat itself on their own soil.

*** end quote ***

Adolph Hitler famously said, “To conquer a nation, first disarm its citizens.”

“…if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”
— Churchill, The Second World War, vol. 1, The Gathering Storm (London: Cassell, 1948, 272, on the British guarantee to Poland in Spring 1939.)

“Victim Disarmament” is the first step to the trains and death camps.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . .” — Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Look at England and look at Australia.

How many genocides do we have to have in recorded history before we learn the lesson?

Let’s itemize some.  Just off the top of my head:

  • The genocide of the American Indians glorified in Hollywood films
  • The people of Melos were slaughtered after refusing to surrender to the Athenians during the Peloponnesian War (learned that in High School)
  • The massacre of Cathari during the Albigensian Crusade in the 13th century (also High School)
  • 1915 Armenian massacre by the Turkish-led Ottoman Empire (learned from Armenian neighbors)
  • Nearly complete extermination of European Jews, Roma Gypsies, and other groups by Nazi Germany during World War II (from neighbors who survived)
  • the killing of some three million Cambodians by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s
  • the killing of Tutsi by Hutu in Rwanda in the 1990s.
  • The Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein, for example, portrayed its use of chemical warfare against the Kurds in the 1980s
  • The slaughter in former Yugoslavia
  • Killings in the Darfur region of western Sudan.
  • Myanmar persecution of its Rohingya Muslim minority.
  • The Yazidi genocide was perpetrated by the Islamic State
  • Persecution of Uyghurs in China
  • Stalin’s starvation of the Ukrainians

Right down to present day … …

… … both Israel and Hamas fighting to control of the Gaza Strip and killing innocent women and children.

Sorry, but giving up your guns to any gang is a recipe for disaster.  Even if that gang is the Gooferment!

Gun Rights are the palladium of rights  —  the God given right of self-defense!

NOTRECOMMENDED: Any KINDLE or ebook “purchased” from AMAZON

Your Kindle e-books just got locked down even tighter
With stricter DRM in place, your Kindle library is now even harder to back up.
By Matt Horne aka @SalvaCash
September 25, 2025

*** begin quote ***

For Kindle owners, this continues a pattern of losing personal control over purchased books. Earlier this year, Amazon removed the ability to download titles for local transfer via USB. Old versions of the Kindle Android app also no longer support downloads, which cut off another method people used for saving e-books. With this latest move, the company has tightened its grip on Kindle e-books even further.

*** end quote ***

As much as I linked my old Kindle, which I have misplaced, I can’t understand why AMAZON has locked it down even more.

Until the Gooferment cracks down on AMAZON for its FRAUDULENT practice of “SELLING” books when it’s really just delivering a “LICENSE” to you, we’re stuck with a BIG BROTHER “librarian”.

I’m tired of what I call “CONTENT FRAUD”.  I don’t know how many times in the past I’ve had to rebuy content.  Paper books, books on cassette tapes, books on CDs, and “audio” books are all the same content that we’re stuck buying and rebuying,

Never mind that Disney and Amazon do a big business in “SELLING” streaming content that you don’t have control over.

Maybe I’m just an old curmudgeon, but I’m now at the point where I’m not BUYING content where I don’t control the MEDIA that I’ve purchased.

I want my CONTENT without DRM so I can put it in CALIBRE and enjoy it anywhere anytime.  I want to burn that into a MEDIA that is virtually eternal and that I control.

Sorry, but I’m not LICENSING anything anymore.

TECHNOLOGY: Spam is really annoying; I should get paid for each email message

Thunderbird’s spam filters need some better training, that’s for sure, as even after marking so many of these repeat offenders as spam, they reappear. I’m not even sure how some aren’t flagged, as they’re clearly scams.

It’s also interesting that there is a range of tolerance to the spam that lands. Some are clearly phishing emails waiting to snag my data, while others look less dangerous but have hidden threats.

It makes it all the more important I know what to look out for to keep my inbox and computer free from threats—and you should know, too.

SPAM emails seem to be a fact of life.

Google GMAIL seems to do a pretty good job of catching them.  Especially after I’ve marked them.

What really annoys me is spam text messages. And, no matter how many times I mark and report they still keep coming. Is anyone at APPLE, AT&T, the FCC, or anyone listening? Argh!

Maybe if I got paid for each email message, except for pre-approved senders like family, friends, and email I asked for, then we could use “postage” to stamp out this annoyance.

HEALTHCARE: If scurvy existed today, he argued, regulators would deny the obvious

EXCLUSIVE: The Greatest Lie Ever Told About Cancer | Daily Pulse

Richardson didn’t stop there. He drew a straight line from the opioid crisis to cancer, arguing both come from the same corrupt system—one that buries natural solutions because, as he put it, “there’s no money in the big pharma world, in this big medicine world.” Instead, drug companies push petrochemical products, many of them patented and even co-owned by Pfizer and government entities.

Then came his boldest claim: “Cancer is 100% an immune deficiency disease. Nobody has to die of cancer.” To drive the point home, he compared it to scurvy, which once killed millions of sailors until they discovered the power of citrus. “All they had to do was suck on a lemon or a lime and they would never die of scurvy.”

If scurvy existed today, he argued, regulators would deny the obvious. “The FDA would be telling us no vitamin C… we’re going to give you drugs to straighten out your bones or to tighten your teeth. And how do I know that, Maria? Because that’s what they’ve been doing with cancer, to the detriment of millions of Americans.”

*** end quote ***

Now, I don’t know if this an “inconvenient truth” that’s only now leaking out or is he a “stopped clock” (right twice a day).

I thought his comment about scurvy and regulators was probably very spot on.

He does highlight the conflict of interest between Big Pharma (if we cure it, we don’t get a revenue stream) and the supposed “Gooferment Regulators” (who are getting “royalties” on taxpayer funded research).

To quote an old comic strip “There oughta be a law” aka (TOBAL!)

Everyone is suddenly an expert, and every statement about public health must be politically weaponized. Suppose you had any doubt that Trump Derangement Syndrome is a real thing. In that case, all you need to do is watch the Instagram reels of left-wing pregnant women downing large doses of Tylenol, which is a high-speed route to the emergency room promptly followed by a potential rather unpleasant death from liver failure. Quod erat demonstrandum (QED).

*** end quote ***

“Well, I’m not a <insert profession that requires a lot of study>, I have never played one on TV, and I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but here are some simple thoughts.”

In this case, a doctor, pharmacist, or maybe a drug creator.

I’m amazed at the behavior of some pregnant women.  Most Moms-To-Be that I’ve know even just in passing are fastidious to the point of mania about what they do, eat, or drink.  I know one who went on what she called “a no chemicals lifestyle” that eliminated “everything”.  While that is a little extreme, taking any drug to prove a political point or make an example of yourself seems like a fast way to a Darwin Award.

I don’t understand.  There are many people with real world medical conditions that need help.  For anyone to go out of their way to create a completely avoidable “medical problem” is beyond stupid.  For all its faults, the medical community does NOT need your stupidity making work for them and taking up valuable bed space.

Argh!

ENCOURAGING: Hegseth’s Speech “Those who long for peace must prepare for war.”

https://www.airandspaceforces.com/read-hegseth-speech-generals-admirals/

READ: Hegseth’s Speech to Generals and Admirals
Sept. 30, 2025

*** begin quote ***

Mr. Chairman, the Joint Chiefs, generals, admirals, commanders, officers, senior enlisted, NCOs, enlisted and every member of our American military, good morning. Good morning, and welcome to the War Department, because the era of the Department of Defense is over.

You see, the motto of my first platoon was, “Those who long for peace must prepare for war.” This is, of course, not a new idea. This crowd knows that. The origin dates to the fourth century Rome and has been repeated ever since, including by our first commander-in-chief, George Washington, the first leader of the War Department. It captures a simple yet profound truth; to ensure peace, we must prepare for war.

From this moment forward, the only mission of the newly restored Department of War is this: warfighting, preparing for war and preparing to win, unrelenting and uncompromising in that pursuit. Not because we want war. No one here wants war. But it’s because we love peace. We love peace for our fellow citizens. They deserve peace, and they rightfully expect us to deliver it.

*** end quote ***

I was interested in his 10 points. Could find it reported anywhere on the inet.  I wonder why?

I like the line that “in with the Stockdales, the Schwarzkopfs, and the Pattons.”

I hope he can make this culture change stick.

Would I want my eldest son, who is 15 years old, eventually joining the types of formations that we are currently wielding? If in any way the answer to that is “No” or even “Yes, but,” then we’re doing something wrong, because my son is no more important than any other American citizen who dons the cloth of our nation.

Seems like he, or his speech writer, hit the nail on the head.

“To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace.” – George Washington

Still very true.

SECESSION: Let’s restore sanity to our political policies about separation, drugs, mental illness, and addiction

https://www.ericpetersautos.com/2025/09/24/how-can-we-amicably-separate/

How Can We Amicably Separate?
By Eric – September 24, 2025

*** begin quote ***

The subject of civil war comes up a lot lately. How about an amicable separation instead? People do this all the time in their personal relationships. You have two people who loved one another once and maybe still do but just can’t live together any longer. At least, not without some sort of accommodation that neither can agree to.

And so the parties agree to separate.

One party does not (usually) try to force the other party to remain in the relationship and rarely tries to kill the other party when a separation is asked for. Most people understand that while it hurts to say goodbye, it’s wrong to hurt the other party for saying it.

Why can’t this work on a political level?

*** end quote ***

Because there is a class of parasites — celebrities, politicians and bureaucrats —  who can’t survive on their own.  They need ALL “We, The Sheeple” to pay and pay keeping them in the style that they are accustomed too.

We have the crazies shooting and killing.  Sooner or later, it’s going to get out of control and start a fire fight.  That’s how the American Revolution started.  That’s the history of “bloody Kansas”.  And on and on.

We are experiencing the beginnings of a race war with “black fatigue” and revolving door justice.  The mental asylums need to be reopened and the jails filled up with violent felons.  Any judges that can’t abide by that directive need to be impeached.  We don’t need “hanging judges; we need ones that protect the public.

We need to stop the “War on Drugs”.  We lost.  Empty out the non-violent drug offenders and allow the “free market” to drive the “drug gangs and cartels” out of business.  We can’t save every “lost soul”.   Put Walmart, Amazon, CVS, and Walgreens back in the business of “drug distribution”.

Argh!

Anything is better than Civil War or turning the streets into shooting galleries.
