Get Rid of the IRS, the TSA, the VA
by Ron Paul, via The Ron Paul Institute

*** begin quote ***

Three recent stories regarding three government agencies — the IRS, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) — show why we should oppose big government for practical, as well as philosophical, reasons.

*** and ***

The TSA, VA, and IRS are just three examples of how government cannot effectively provide any good or service except authoritarianism. Individuals acting in the free market are more than capable of providing for their own needs, including the need to protect themselves, their families, and their property if the government gets out of the way.

*** end quote ***

When the “homeland security” reaction to 9/11 was to create a whole new bunch of Federal bureaucrats, I was appalled. As result, I, and a lot of folks, just stopped using Air Travel unless it was completely unavoidable.

The VA has been a failure.

And, the IRS is just a political tool for who ever is in power.

Time to nuke all three.

Then, there are many more organizations to go into the shredder!

  1. Can you imagine the boost to the economy if the income tax was eliminated and turned into some sort of graduated flat tax* instead? Think of all the accountants and tax lawyers who’d be performing gainful and productive employment instead!**

*Graduated Flat Tax: not going into detail here, but some basic things like food and medicine would not be taxed at all. Taxes on goods and services and recreation would be taxed at a very low standard rate for things under $10 or $100; higher up to 1,000 or 10,000; much higher up to 100K, then 1M, and exorbitantly over 1Million. The wealth of wealthy people would only benefit them if they spent it, and when they spent it they’d be paying tons and tons of taxes. Poor people would pay very low taxes. There’d still be an incentive to make more, it’s just that the private Lear Jet might cost 10 million instead of 5 million, etc. Sorry… can’t debate further details: I’m really NOT an economist! Heh, I have a hard time getting monthly bills paid on time! LOL!

**Apologies to the accountants and tax lawyers reading this: In the PRESENT economic setup of course your services are important and needed. BUT… without the income tax you’d be doing other interesting things that would actually produce other desirable goods and services!
