Washington Post: Hillary Clinton was paid millions by tech industry for speeches

While it is common for former presidents to receive top dollar as paid speakers, Hillary Clinton is unique as a prospective candidate who received large personal payouts from corporations, trade groups and other major interests mere months before launching a White House bid. In some cases, those speeches gave Clinton a chance to begin sounding out themes of her coming campaign and even discuss policy issues that a future Clinton administration might face.

Companies that paid her to speak include industry giants such as Xerox, Cisco Systems and Qualcomm, as well as start-ups and trade groups focused on biotechnology and medical technology.

No, no corruption here. Any more than the contributions to the “Clinton Foundation” by foreigners when she was Secretary of State.

Argh!

Michigan Voters Smash Tax Hike Referendum

Proposal 1 suffered the worst defeat Tuesday of any Michigan ballot measure since the current Constitution was adopted more than a half-century ago, as 80 percent of voters rejected the sales tax increase and road funding plan. . . .

*** and ***

Saginaw County businessman Paul Mitchell set up an opposition group and began lambasting the proposal for directing $700 million to areas unrelated to repairing roads, such as education, cities, public transit and an expanded tax break for the working poor.

Mitchell called the non-road spending a “a $700 million toll to special interests,” defining the issue before the “yes” campaign could respond on the airwaves.

Nice to see that the Michigan voters ain’t buying the Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association, representing road builders, $5.4 million Safe Roads Yes propaganda.

Pretty good. Put in 5.4 to get 700 back.

With the appropriate payoffs to the politicians and astroturf groups.

No wonder “We, The Sheeple” are bankrupt.

Morally and fiscally.
