RANT: Scott Trade is off my list of brokerages I’ll do business with

Tried to move the Frau's IRA into Scott Trade. Tried to do it online. It didn't take. It says go to an office. Went to the office but you have to prove your socsecnum. Nothing mentioned that little gem. So I dragged Frau to the local office, filled out the forms, and then they asked for her driver's license and another form of id with her ssn. Argghh! Scratch them off the list. And the staff guy and branch manager did really seem to care. Double Argh!!

  1. There are no words to describe the horrific customer service exhibited by the Scott Trade employees at the Bell Isle Branch in Oklahoma City. They cost my 16 year old son $500 and then acted like I was bothering them when trying to work out an acceptable remedy. They didn’t do anything, not even apologize. He had worked 6 months to save that money and I took a half day off work to personally deposit the money so that he could make his trade. They didn’t fund his account and his trade didn’t go through. They didn’t even send an email or anything and when asked, they said that even though the told me a money order was acceptable form of deposit, it was in fact NOT so they just didn’t place his trade for over a week. Not until I took another half day off work to go 55 miles back to their office where I was promptly dismissed so that they could spend the rest of their day chatting with each other. If you want unreliable service, people who do not care about your account or your future relationship with them, then by all means give Scott Trade all your money. They couldn’t be more condescending, less interested in helping resolve a situation or even fain an apology at the inconvenience and disappointment that they caused a hard working teen who was SO looking forward to a long term relationship with Scott trade. He did learn a valuable (though expensive) lesson in how NOT to treat customers.

  2. Recently, Scott trade seems to be in the business of using cheap, sleazy scare tactics to drum up business. I received an e-mail regarding a specific stock that led me to believe that I may suffer a loss if I didn’t call my local broker and fix the problem for a fee, of course. When I called the branch, I talked to the branch manager regarding the e-mail. He went into his sales pitch for the $25 dollar fee to sell my shares. I became irritated because there was no risk of loss on my part nor was there any reason to sell. I said to the manager that what he was doing is very misleading and unethical. The manager immediately went into a play dumb act with a condescending attitude toward me. In addition, our converstation was tape recorded without my knowledge. CHEAP AND SLEAZY about sums it up. I’m pulling out of Scott Trade and moving in with another firm.
