How Did 108 Economists Predict Milei’s Results Exactly Wrong?

  • Leading lights on the left said Milei’s free market reforms would be disastrous. Instead, they’ve been hailed as a miracle.

“Their understanding of how markets work and of how governments work is superficial,” writes Henderson. “I wonder if any of them, seeing the apparent success of Milei’s policies, are questioning their prior views. We can always hope.”

Indeed we can. But for now, it’s not unfair to assume from their silence that they’ve learned little from Argentina’s economic progress.

As President Donald Trump begins his own second term as president, there’s much he can learn from Milei’s first year in office.

This includes ignoring economists who claim that cutting government spending, regulations, and bureaucracy will result in economic devastation. And perhaps most importantly, the danger of using government printing presses to avoid making difficult budget decisions.

All the little L libertarians knew that, if allowed, Milei’s free market reforms would radically change the incentive structure in that socialist economy.  Just like that, freeing people’s competitive skills and ability from the chains of a Welfare State would stun all the pessimists.  And it did.

Inflation from 300% to 2.4%. GDP of 5%.

I guess that the people of any country would want stats like that.  Now it’s time to get the leadership that will give it to them.

Online daters say being ‘zombied’ is now scarier than ‘ghosting’

Being “ghosted” on dating websites by wooers who abruptly vanish without a word may hurt, but matchmakers say the trend of being “zombied” is just plain scary.

MONEY: Remember penny candy?

No money to spare: Uncle Sam pays more than face value to mint pennies, nickels
By Stephen Dinan – The Washington Times – Thursday, April 20, 2023

Inflation may make a penny worth less — but it also makes that penny cost more.

The rising prices of raw materials have sent the costs of manufacturing coins soaring over the past two years, adding nearly a full cent to the cost of producing each penny. It now costs more than 2.5 cents to mint and distribute each penny coin, the federal government said in a report to Congress.

Making a nickel now costs more than 10 cents.

“It’s absolute non-cents that American taxpayers spend 10 cents to make just one nickel,” said Sen. Joni Ernst, Iowa Republican. “Only Washington could lose money making money.”

Anyone realize that the FED’s inflation and the “spend and borrow” Congress has made money worth less?

Penny candy, Nickel Newspapers, Dime comic books are all casualties of the parasitic class extracting more and more of the Taxpayers’ Wealth.

Get out the pitchforks and light up the torches, it’s time change the discussion.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Does the Gooferment have a duty when they “steal” something?

D.C. woman leaves town to help mother, returns home to destroyed Jeep
By Matt Delaney – The Washington Times – Thursday, June 23, 2022

A D.C. resident received an unwelcome surprise when she returned home after spending months away: her Jeep had been destroyed.

Susan Hekhuis left the area at the end of February to take care of her elderly mother, who had broken her leg. But when Ms. Hekhuis sent a friend to check on her Jeep a few weeks ago, that’s when her sorry tale began, Washington NBC TV affiliate WRC-4 reported.

“There I am trying to take care of my mom and do my job and take care of a million other things, and the last thing on my mind was that you towed my car and destroyed it,” she said.

News4 reported that D.C.’s Department of Public Works had towed Ms. Hekhuis’ vehicle from its original spot on Calvert Street NW since it was along the Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon route.

The only problem is that the Jeep was towed to Connecticut Avenue NW, where street parking isn’t allowed during rush hour. The car racked up five tickets in two weeks, causing it to get towed again, this time to DPW’s impound lot in Blue Plains.

Sounds like the D.C.’s Department of Public Works owes her a new car and an apology.

When they towed her car, doesn’t that mean they have a duty to protect that asset until it’s returned to its rightful owner.

Sounds like a Fifth Amendment claim.

Argh!
