Swift’s foes are urging people to vote for the Horace Mann School for the Deaf. Because there’s nothing more hilarious than using deaf children as the punchline to a lame joke aimed at poking fun at a superstar, right?
Swift has legions of public relations people, millions of dollars in income and an international career. Her new song, “We Are Never, Ever Getting Back Together,” is topping charts.
So the 22-year-old phenomenon does not need advice from a 51-year-old local news columnist in Nashville. But here’s some anyway: Babe, embrace this. Own it. Take the joke and turn it around on them. If the Horace Mann School wins — and, with the votes at around 25,000 so far, that looks pretty certain — you get on a plane to Boston and sing your pretty little heart out for them.

It would be a wonderful, generous gesture for her to perform there. After all, music therapy is commonly taught to deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
“Music belongs to all people, and all people have the right to music experiences,” wrote Patricia Winter, a music therapist, in an online article.
Children with hearing impairment, with or without hearing aids or cochlear implants, connect with music. They feel the vibrations. They “hear” lyrics through sign language. Touching the neck of someone singing helps them improve speech skills.
What better revenge would there be for Swift than having photos of sweet deaf children touching her as she sings posted all over the same Internet that’s trashing her?
And one more thought, based on Swift’s own lyrics.
She’s right: People do indeed throw rocks at things that shine. But when you take the high road, they can’t hit you.

I’m surprised for a social media maven, Miss Swift, who made her mark by pioneering on MySpace / Facebook / Twitter AND who usually has great rapport for her fans, lets her “label” block this video.
It is a stunning failure.
Let’s not kid anyone, she’s the prize “cow” in their “barn”. You tell me if she pitches a hissey fit — which I have never heard of her doing — that they won’t do what she wants?

Just doing that ONCE for the FIRST time would even make a bigger impact on the “label”. Bet that would be online in two shakes of an inet admin in one hand and graphic artist in another. THe label head would be grabbing huevos to please the prize “cow”!

I also read that the “label” was concerned that performing for WalMart might damage her “image”. I think trying to “kinda partially hide” is a bigger dent.

FUN: Taylor Swift wins twice
Monday, April 2, 2012Stayed up too late, two nights in a row.
Saturday night, watch FLOTUS present Ms. Swift with the “Big Help” award. The two were obviously fans of each other.
(But I did think the acceptance speech was awkward, but heart felt. Maybe the little girl is growing up and can’t just wing it anymore.)
(Yeah, I know. No life watching the slime show.)
I thought FLOTUS was a good sport when the slime flew. Some commenters on the UK site thought she was the devil incarnate. Fair’s fair. While I don’t like her politics, she did well inspiring little kids. And I heard nothing political in her words. And, it seemed like her girls were having a ball.
Sunday night, ACM entertainer of the year (again). (She owes it all to Meridith the cat. That probably sent all the tweens and teens to voting.) Sad that she was dateless. But she showed real class with her “shout out”.
(It’s reported that she’s promised to make it up to the sick young man in the hospital. I bet it’s even better than the ACMs.)
So other than admitting I have no life. It was two fun evenings.
(Who else could be “entertainer of the year” when she blew them all away in dollars earned?)
Oh well, what will she accomplish next?
(And, she was a knock out. Eat your heart out all the dumb guys who let her get away. Good jokes about “Denver sacrificing a virgin” and Swebow on the ACM.)
