GUNS: Three minutes of simple wisdom on “gun control” aka “victim disarmament”!

Three minutes of simple wisdom on “gun control” aka “victim disarmament”!

Victim Disarmament is the view that it is somehow better to see a woman raped in an alley and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a gun in her hand.” — T.D. Melrose

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . .”
 — Alexander Solzhenitsyn

“Yes. In the end, you will walk out. Because 100,000 Englishmen simply cannot control 350 million Indians, if those Indians refuse to cooperate.” — movie Gandhi (1983)

Gun Owners must just “refuse to cooperate”!

GUNS: Are you sure the liberal Democrats don’t want guns banned?

DENVER (CBS4) – A popular hunting shotgun could be banned under one of the bills moving through the state Capitol.

A pump or semi-automatic shotgun is the gun most hunters in Colorado use. It’s a gun state Sen. Greg Brophy, R-Wray, says could be banned under a bill that’s already passed the House and Gov. John Hickenlooper says he’ll sign.

BUCHANAN: There would be a revolution in this country!

MCLAUGHLIN: Baloney! That doesn’t mean you can’t own one, but you have to put it in first and then go try —

Would this be the issue that puts people out in the streets in opposition?

Would there be the revolt?

It would be devestating!

In any event, it would imho lead to the dissolution of the Union.

The D.C. police investigation of NBC hotshot David Gregory for waving around an empty ammo magazine on “Meet the Press” easily proves two things. First, D.C.’s “ammunition control” laws are ridiculous. But more importantly, once again, we find the arrogance of the national press knows no boundaries.

Let us stipulate that this kind of law is just plain stupid. Empty ammo magazines are less threatening than mosquitoes. The point is, however, that liberals like David Gregory do subscribe to this kind of idiotic law — for everyone else.

Was Gregory so ignorant that he didn’t know he was breaking a D.C. law? Nope. We learned NBC contacted the D.C. police and asked for permission to wave the props, and the cops said no. Then Gregory did it anyway. So not only did he believe he was above the law, he broke it so he could produce maximum buzz for his Sunday show.

Not only are they above the law — stupid or otherwise — but they rub our noses in it.

GUNS: Guns are NOT the problem; the lack of them is!

Friday, December 14, 2012

As a pro-life little Libertarian, I can NOT imagine what these people are going through. And, it’s at times like this that there is an over-reaction to “fix” the problem by restricting law-abiding people’s rights.

http://www.courant.com/news/breaking/hc-police-responding-to-incident-in-newtown-20121214,0,3969911.story

Tragic. But that is what happens when you create a “gun free zone”. In the military, it’s called a target rich environment. Every adult in that school was disarmed and unable to defend themselves or the children.

The Israelis had the same problem with Kibbutz schools being attacked until they started letting armed grandparents volunteer as school security. The killings stopped immediately. Turns out cranky old grandparent are perfect “school security officers”.

Someday we will wise up.

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/12/14/newtown-conn-school-district-had-recently-installed-new-safety-protocols/

*** begin quote ***

Dear Members of our Sandy Hook Family,

Our district will be implementing a security system in all elementary schools as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure student safety. As usual, exterior doors will be locked during the day. Every visitor will be required to ring the doorbell at the front entrance and the office staff will use a visual monitoring system to allow entry. Visitors will still be required to report directly to the office and sign in. If our office staff does not recognize you, you will be required to show identification with a picture id. Please understand that with nearly 700 students and over 1000 parents representing 500 SHS families, most parents will be asked to show identification.

Doors will be locked at approximately 9:30 a.m. Any student arriving after that time must be walked into the building and signed in at the office. Before that time our regular drop-off procedures will be in place. I encourage all parents to have their children come to school and return home on the bus and to remain in school for the entire school day. The beginning and ending of our school day are also important instructional times and therefore we want all our students to reap the benefits of full participation in our program.

We need your help and cooperation for our system to work effectively. Our office staff is handling multiple tasks. Though they will work diligently to help you into the building as quickly as possible, there may be a short delay until someone can view you on the handset and allow you to come in electronically. There are times during the day when office personnel are on the telephone, addressing student concerns, or in the copy room; there are other times when only one person is in the front office. Please help our staff by identifying yourself and provide your child’s name.

Keep in mind we will be following our district guidelines which may need revision once we test the system.

Please know your involvement continues to be critical to our school’s effectiveness and your child’s success. We continue to encourage and value your presence in our classrooms and are counting on your cooperation with the implementation of this safety initiative.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Hochsprung

*** end quote ***

Guess the “new security regime” didn’t work so well. But, I am sure it did give the parents a false sense of security.

Argh!

Gooferment is rarely the answer and is often the source of the problem.

In most of these shootings, the teachers and staff are unarmed. The maintenance people are unarmed. The cafeteria people are unarmed.

(Never mind that the children are unarmed. In Israeli, mature children are packing heat. I’d trust youngsters to protect themselves. Too bad there wasn’t a drug gang in this school; they could have protected the children. Argh!)

The bad guy, or guys, always seems to have a equipment malfunction, stop to reload, or turn in a different direction. We all saw that video in Florida of the old coot when the robber turned away, pulled out a pop gun (small caliber pocket pistol) and started blazing away. Did convince the thug to head for the hills.

We allow the school maintenance person to walk around the school with knives, saws, and power tools. What’s wrong with one more tool? “Hey, Mike or Michelle, bring your Colt 45 to work and if you see any two legged varmints shoot at kids, take them out. We’ll reimburse you for the bullets.” Argh!!!

We saw the one teacher pulling a kid into her class room. I’d trust her with a tool. She could put all the children in a corner and she covers the door. Anything coming through that looks like a threat; empty. Reload and repeat. Mother Bears defend their cubs better than we as a species do!

Why do we have Gofferment Skrules again?

These training grounds just teach everyone to be sheep. SOOOooo let’s sprinkle a few sheepdogs in the herd. Make it exciting to be a criminal. Wonder how they’ll react to some return fire. Bet they’ll move on to easier targets. Like police stations. We all know that cops are terrible shots.

OH, and by the way, we have to indemnify all these volunteers against lawsuits by criminals. Stupid system, criminal breaks the law and can sue the victim for resisting. Where’s Judge Judy applying the “clean hands” doctrine?

GUNS: Bringing a gun to a knife fight

KNIFE-WIELDING HOME INTRUDER BREAKS INTO WRONG HOME, GREETED BY .40 CAL HANDGUN

Posted on November 27, 2012 at 11:52pm by Jason Howerton

*** begin quote ***

A homeowner in Grand Prairie, Texas shot a knife-wielding home intruder after the suspect shattered a side window to gain entry into the home, KXAS-TV reports.

The homeowner, who has not been identified, was reportedly on the phone with 911 operators when he shot 21-year-old Gilberto Banderas. The shooting occurred at around 2:30 p.m. after the sound of breaking glass prompted the homeowner to get his .40 caliber handgun.

The suspect, Banderas, was shot in the stomach. As it turns out, police discovered he lives just blocks away from the home he attempted to break into. In other words, he apparently tried, and failed, to rob his neighbor.

*** and ***

“During the conversation with him, we could hear him yelling, ‘You came at me with a knife,’” Grand Prairie detective Lyle Gensler said. “We responded within about a minute and 30 seconds.”

*** end quote ***

Note for the unarmed, dial 911 and die.

Critique of the shooting: The suspect was still alive.

The military taught me to keep pulling the trigger until nothing moved.

I’ve heard that advice often repeated.

Even if the bullets are going into the floor and ceiling, no one in their right mind wants to be down range of a loon with a gun and is using it.

Critique of the shooting: Good dhot to the center of mass — the belly.

Hope I never have to do it. Hope no one ever has to do it.

But the best way to stop crime is get rid of few of the criminals.

Make getting caught by the police an unlikely outcome.

BRYAN COUNTY, Oklahoma –

A 12-year-old girl took matters into her own hands during a home invasion in southeast Oklahoma.

It happened on Wednesday when the girl was home alone. She told police a stranger rang the doorbell, then went around to the back door and kicked it in. She called her mom, Debra St. Clair, who told her to get the family gun, hide in a closet and call 911.

“And what we understand right now, he was turning the doorknob when she fired through the door,” said the Bryan County Undersheriff Ken Golden.

While I’d NEVER fault any woman who survives this type of incident, I don’t firing through the door is the best solution.

I’d think you need to identify your target.

It does proven the difficulty of asking anyone to shoot another human eyeball to eyeball.

We can assume that this is not a handgun. Hence not the ideal weapon to use from a closet.

Her Dad will have to instruct her about the rule of thumb that says “pull until it clicks”.

Other than that, I think she did great!

GUNS: Common in mass shootings is the shooter is a nut!

Guns, Psychopaths, Training, and Left Wing Bluster by Bill O’Connell on August 28, 2012

*** begin quote ***

No, what is common in these mass shootings is that the shooter is a nut job. Page was a white supremacist crackpot; Jared Loughner in  Tucson was known to be off his rocker for at least six years before the shooting, which by the way made it illegal to buy a gun but the gun laws didn’t stop him; the Colorado movie shooter was also seeing mental health professionals; in the Virginia Tech shooting, it was the same story, but in our PC world they couldn’t force him to get counseling. Nowhere in her article, nor anywhere else in the main stream media do they talk about the real problem: figuring out how to keep dangerous psychopaths off the street before they snap and kill someone.

Yes, guns are just tools.

And, there’s never a kop around when you need them.

And, to conclude the argument: “God made man and woman; Sam Colt made them equal.” — anonymous

In the gunfire on the street between Jeffrey Johnson and the NYPD officers, seven men and two women are said to have been hit, all are likely to survive their injuries.

On one private club / gun range I frequent, the Range Safety Officer (and, there has to be one on duty for the range to be open) is required by club policy to announce “LEO on the line” so that those on the line can retire to safety. And, the backup Assistant Range Safety Officer comes to the line to observe the LEO or LEOs on the line. Note the club’s ONLY THREE accidents have been when LEOs were involved. A regular member is ejected and loses his deposit if they or their guest violates a safety rule.

Further, most gun owners know that the cops don’t practice enough to maintain proficiency. Unlike the Marines and the Military Police who practice a lot.

So why are we surprise when civilians get hurt when the kops “protect and serve”?

GUNS: Would Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia say the same thing about “free speech”?

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/07/29/scalia-opens-door-for-gun-control-legislation/

Scalia opens door for gun-control legislation, extends slow burning debate

*** begin quote ***

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said Sunday the Second Amendment leaves open the possibility of gun-control legislation, adding to what has become a slow-boiling debate on the issue since the Colorado movie theater massacre earlier this month.

Scalia, one of the high court’s most conservative justices, said on “Fox News Sunday” that the majority opinion in the landmark 2008 case of District of Columbia v. Heller stated the extent of gun ownership “will have to be decided in future cases.”

“We’ll see,” he said.

*** end quote ***

Now imagine if he said “free speech” legislation and “we’ll see”?

The Press and the Liberal would excoriate him.

Are there no “problems” with Free Speech? No KKK. No porn. No seven forbidden words. No lies on TV. No political promises, forgotten immediately upon election. Has no one died as a results of these? I think they have.

Free Speech has issues. But, we don’t throw away the Principle at the hint of trouble!

Gun deaths don’t come anywhere near the totals of military and civilian deaths in the UnConstitutional “wars” overseas we find ourselves ensnared. Nowhere near the total of abortions. Nowhere near car accidents.

So, humbly, I suggest that Scalia is wrong. Flat out wrong. Remember one word “The Genocide Prevention Right”. The Gooferment can’t kill armed citizens without consequence.

GUNS: Aurora’s Strict Gun Laws Didn’t

Aurora’s Strict Gun Laws Didn’t Prevent Shooting, But If One Law-Abiding Person In The Theater Had Been Carrying One…
By Ron Meyer
July 21, 2012

*** begin quote ***

Purdue student and Young America’s Foundation Intern Scholar Hillary Cherry provides her thoughts on the Colorado shooting, stressing the importance of protecting our Second Amendment rights:

A masked gunman opened fire yesterday on one of the 3,700 midnight showings of The Dark Knight Rises, leaving 12 dead, 50 injured, and one in custody. Liberals everywhere are wasting no time to use this massacre in an effort to push gun control and gut the Second Amendment.

Mayor Bloomberg asks the Obama administration for stricter gun laws following Colorado shooting. Comedian DL Hughley tweeted, “Aurora is 13yrs and 13 miles from Columbine! Since the 60s over 500,000 ppl have bn killed by guns in the US we have no right 2 b shocked!”

How will stricter gun laws bring an end to criminals having guns, when the laws against murder have not been able to stop them from killing innocent people?

Currently in Aurora, Colorado, where the shooting took place, it is already unlawful to carry a concealed “dangerous weapon,” discharge firearms, unless by law enforcement on duty or on shooting range, and have loaded firearm in motor vehicle.

Yet these laws were unable to stop James Holmes.

*** end quote ***

The lessons of Columbine, Virginia Tech, and now Aurora is that people must be allowed, able, and prepared to defend themselves.

Period, end of story.

The Dead Old White Guys’ wisdom was to enshrine that. We are stupidly ignorant of what makes our species thrive and cooperate — when each is a “sovereign” we have peace.

Argh!

“Dial 911 and die”

When death is seconds away, the police are minutes away. “We, The People” ARE the police!

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” — Lazarus Long (Robert A Heinlein)

“Victim disarmament is the view that it is somehow better to see a woman raped in an alley and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a gun in her hand.” — T.D. Melrose

WRITING: Never going to be a victim

Saturday, February 4, 2012

I’ll never be a victim

How do I begin? I’m the oldest of three siblings. A girl. Tall for my age. 12½. Gawky. Athletic. Timid and shy. And, I’ve just started the change.

There, I’ve gotten it all out.

I’m writing this in my laptop’s journal so that the secret does not bust out of me. I don’t want to blurt it out. I’m a sinner and a criminal.

My uncle was a funny weird man. Before he died just recently. I mention that because he is a key to my coming of age. A young widower he always came to dinner from time to time. Always brought donuts. I loved those. For my plays, he brought flowers. For my events, like confirmation, he brought chocolate. For our vacations and occasions, he always gave me spending money. He was a nice old man who seemed to understand me and made me feel powerful. And smart. And really listened to me prattle on. Not grabby, like other relatives. He always let me come to him. I relaxed around him. From time to time, he’d bring me and my brothers strange gifts. Puzzles, crafts, and toys that all had challenges. Most of the time, we didn’t do them, but he never made any comment. He wanted us to learn “stuff”. With no apparent emphasis on anything in particular. Just “stuff”. He’d say: “Never know what stuff might come in handy.”

I remembered one thing that came in very handy. But more about that later.

He’d debate with my Dad about all sorts of political topics. They never saw eye to eye much. My Dad was a quiet liberal easy going guy. My Uncle a crazy hard line guy. They most disagreed about guns. At first, it was scary. We’re taught a school that only criminals have guns. And, our friends, the police, would keep us safe. I was shocked to hear that my Uncle had guns. And, that he believed that he had a right to keep them. And, he would use them if need be. He hadn’t had to kill another human being. But he always ended that sentence with “… yet!” I remember he often cowed my Dad into silence when he delivered a now familiar quote: “Victim disarmament is the view that it is somehow better to see a woman raped in an alley and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a gun in her hand.” I was becoming a woman and I knew a little about sex. It was supposed to be beautiful when the time came. I went to the internet to read about rape. I understood my uncle’s revulsion with that criminal act. Somehow I felt safe when he was around. I remember how he talked about his guns as if they were people or virtues. He called them: “Vengence”, “Justice”, and his favorite “Peacekeeper”. He said had them in his house ready to defend as needed. Once time he confided that Peacekeeper’s safety was getting to hard for him to operate. And, that he’d solved that problem like his Great Aunt did before the War with rubber bands. He had rubber banded the grip safety so all he’d have to do was point and pull. My Mom and Dad were shocked and asked if that was dangerous. He laughed and said: “Nah! As long as when at my desk, I don’t bang it with my knee.”
I don’t know why that stuck with me.

Fast forward. He died about a month ago. And, there’s a bunch of legal reasons why his house has to be left alone until everyone can clean it out. But, that being said, it’s just sitting there. Mom goes and collects the mail. Waiting for the papers to arrive. She’s sad about it, and not looking forward to the job.

This spring I started to, as my Mom puts it, bloom. I can see the physical changes. Everyone is treating me “different”. And, I get happy and sad for no reason. It’s all part of “blooming” as Mom said.

But there has been a bad side to this.

At my school, boys and girls go to class together. You have all sorts of different types: nerds, jocks, punks, emos, and some you can’t label. There’s a group of boys that are just gross. And, they pick on certain girls. Up to now, I’d been invisible to them. But as I started to “bloom”, they began to target me.

I didn’t know what to do.

At first, it was just talk. Dirty talk. About how they’d “help” me along. Then, they’d touch me. In the hall, brushing me. Then, they’d grab my butt. I’d come home and cry. Lately, they’d been sending me messages on my phone and putting porn in my locker through the slots. Always telling me how good they’d make me feel. And, soon. One of the leaders seemed to have me staked out. In his mind’s eye. Today, in school, he walked up to me and grabbed my breasts with both hands and squeezed. Hard. I slapped him. He laughed and said: “Today, after the bus drops us off, I’m gonna drag you behind a bush and do you. You ready?” I was in a panic. What could I do. Sitting in class, I remembered my uncle’s desk and what he said about victims. “No one in their right mind should want to be down range of a crazed woman with a gun. Women can kill when they are threatened. Like a Momma Bear with her cubs or woman about to be raped. I trust them to know when to fire. A criminal should be killed.” I did have a right to defend myself.

My uncle told me so!

My tormentor was on my bus home. The bus ride home was hell. He was in the back with his friends laughing and smirking. I was resolute. I sat by the driver. Uncle’s house was a few stops before mine. When the bus stopped, just as the last kid exited, I sprang off. Without looking back, I walked to Uncle’s house. My tormentor got off at the next stop about ½ block away and was running after me yelling something. I walked up the driveway, opened the garage door, entered, and locked it behind me. Uncle never did get that garage light fixed; it was always on. Picked my way through the maze of stuff to the door that led to his den. Locked the door behind me. Push aside his chair and scooted under the desk pulling the chair back in. There on the underside of the desk it was. “Peacekeeper”! I slid it out very gently. Like a sleeping snake. It was a gun just like on TV. It was heavy. But felt cold to the touch. I used two hands like they do on TV and just held it out in front of me. My uncle’s words echoed TV’s message: “Finger off the trigger until you’re ready to shoot.” And waited.

It wouldn’t be long. I heard the banging on the garage door. Then window break. “Where are you, you tease. You’re only making this harded and me madder. It’s gonna really hurt and I’m going to enjoy you.” I heard noises. Some far. Eventually getting louder. “I can smell you.” The door to the den opened, and the tormentor was in the room. I was frozen in fear. Could he really smell me? Like dog or a wolf. “There you are? Come to daddy.” And the chair was pulled out. And, he reaching for me.

Finger to the trigger.

Explosion. Light flash. The brightest light I’d ever seen. The loudest noise I’d ever heard.

My uncle’s words to Dad echoed. “Pull the trigger until the gun locks open. Then use it as a club.” So I pulled. It wanted to shoot the ceiling, but I dragged it down to the floor. Five, Seven, Nine? Eventually the thing did lock open. The smell was terrible. I’d never smelled anything so gross. The charcoal grill, burnt meat, and a disgusting bowel movement all in one. Maybe I wet myself?
But my tormentor was nowhere in sight. I couldn’t see much. Blind! I felt around and there was a purse there. Open, with stuff in it, I could feel bullets and metal. So I put the gun in the purse.

Now a long time ago, Uncle had a dog. And, under his desk, was a doggie door. It was a big dog. Uncle was lazy and hated to get up to let the dog out. After the dog died he put a latch on the door to “keep the critters out”. I felt for the latch and let myself out.
I walked home. Wondering what to do next?

My uncle’s voice gave me that answer too. To my Dad, he’d often say: “Shoot, shovel, and shut up.” So that’s what I did. Before going in the house, I went to my school project garden behind our garage and planted the purse. Our dog came out began licking my face. And, making a noise I’d never heard. Like it was telling me “I’m glad your home safe.” I was safe! And, a woman. Maybe not all the way. But I knew I was a powerful woman.

Went in the house, Mom asked: “How was school?” “OK.” “You’re late.” “I got off a few blocks early. Felt like walking. I was stiff from sitting all day.” “OK, but do your home work, practice tonight.” “OK”.

Today, I want to school; unafraid of the bully. Secure that, when I have sex, it will be with the boy whom I choose. But the school was all a buzz, with the report of a missing child. Our friends, the Police, were asking each class if anyone saw him. Me, and bunch of others, dutifully reported he was on the bus. Others said that he got off before his usual stop. No one reported what a pig he was. I was following Uncle’s last bit of advice: “Silence”. Today in library, I listened to a YouTube video: “Never talk to the police”. So, when I’m questioned, as I’m sure I will be, I’m just going to be a young girl too terrified of them to speak. Works on TV. Figure when the court papers, that my Mom is waiting for, come everyone will find out what happened to the “poor lost child”. The predator pig! Wonder if they’ll figure out what happened? Wonder if they will figure out that I’m the murderer? Wonder if I’ll go to jail?

Once thing is for sure, Uncle was right. Thanks, Uncle! School was OK today and I’ve learned some of that “stuff” you were trying to teach me. I’ve decided. I’m never going to be a victim.

GUNS: Politicians and bureaucrats harass gun owners for oversights

KNOX GUN-RIGHTS REPORT

States still ‘gun’ for unsuspecting firearm owners
by Jeff Knox

*** begin quote ***

A decision to carry a gun for defense brings with it a raft of responsibilities. The defensive mindset that should accompany carrying – situational awareness and avoidance strategies, competence with the firearm and the moral implications of using deadly force – needs to extend to the legal and political environment as well. It must be understood that even a clearly justified defensive use of a firearm – which saves your life – can easily cost your home and life savings. Deadly force is serious business. No one should take the decision lightly, and threat recognition needs to include recognizing the threat posed by state power – particularly in states like New York.

We don’t need “State” or “Local” Gooferments playing “gotcha” with responsible gun owners.

Crimes committed with, or without, a gun deserve restitution. It may be harsher than what we do today. Actions have consequences. Oversights that harm no one should be ignored.

How did we lose so many of our rights?

Argh!

GUNS: An old vote on the RKBA

Friday, January 20, 2012

http://www.usatoday.com/news/quickquestion/2007/november/popup5895.htm

LINK FROM PETER G.

My reaction:

I added my vote to “individual right” crowd. 10M votes.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . .” — Alexander Solzhenitsyn
How will you resist when they come to take YOU and yours to the camps?

Can’t happen here? Tell that to the Japanese Americans in 1941 and the various American Indian tribes. I’d say you could tell it to David Koresh, the other 54 Branch Davidians, and their 21 children, BUT, (and there is always a BIG butt), they’re all dead. After the Gooferment came for them.

Argh!
fjohn

p.s., it’s an old poll, BUT, (and there is always a BIG butt), I have no doubt that Holder still believes it’s not a right and that USA Today would too.

———- Forwarded message ———-

This is apparently a new and current polling effort by USA today.  Very simple to do.

Own a Gun? Please Keep This Moving

Guess they were not happy with the poll results the first time so USA Today is running another one. Vote now.

Attorney General, Eric Holder, has already said this is one of his major issues. He does not believe the 2nd Amendment gives individuals the right to bear arms. This takes literally 2 clicks to complete. Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro-gun folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month. This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court’s accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms.

Here’s what you need to do:

First – vote on this one.  Second – launch it to other folks and have THEM vote – then we will see if the results get published.

Irish homeowners now have legal right to shoot intruders
New law is attacked by civil liberties organizations as ‘license to kill’

Convicted of manslaughter, Nally was sentenced to six years in jail, but his conviction was overturned on appeal after the court accepted he had not been permitted to use self-defense as an argument at his trial.

Of course, it’s a license to kill.

Home Invaders are VERY dangerous criminals.

Were not talking about a child walking across your lawn, or your mother-in-law barging in unannounced.

The police and your fellow citizens can’t be everywhere to join in the defense of your right to be secure in your home.

So you have the absolute right to defend yourself and you loved ones.

Regardless of what any of the politicians and bureaucrats say.

Crime Mom Calls 9-1-1 for Permission to Shoot Intruders Before Killing One Using 12-Gauge Shotgun

“I wouldn’t have done it, but it was my son,” McKinley told KOCO. “It’s not an easy decision to make, but it was either going to be him or my son. And it wasn’t going to be my son. There’s nothing more dangerous than a woman with a child.”

*** end quote ***

Absurd to ask the Gooferment’s permission to defend one’s life.

Equally absurd, is the notion that he was stalking her. I’ve blogged before that with their “order of protection” they should get a loaner, a box of ammo, and some free time with the police trainer in the courthouse. Then, that order should say “open season” if you’re threatened.

Argh!

I trust women, especially mothers, to know when deadly force is appropriate.

GUNS: The essence of “carrying”

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

http://itdontmakesense.blogspot.com/2011/12/why-i-carry.html

Why I Carry

*** begin quote ***

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

*** end quote ***

Or, why I would carry if it was permitted in the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee!

“Victim disarmament is the view that it is somehow better to see a woman raped in an alley and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a gun in her hand.” — T.D. Melrose

The essence of the RKBA is about self-defense. From criminals acting alone or in concert as the Gooferment.

Only we’re to dumb to realize what it’s all about.

GUNS: Christmas spike; guns as gifts?

Peace on Earth, now buy a gun
Posted: December 09, 2011
Patrice Lewis

*** begin quote ***

So when firearms sales spike in anticipation of our annual celebration of peace on earth and goodwill toward men, I find nothing in the slightest bit contradictory in that concept. An armed society, as they say, is a polite society. But more than that, an armed society is a peaceful society. A nation whose citizens are armed stays relatively peaceful. It will never turn into a tyranny.

Remember, a free man cannot be defeated. He can only be killed. That becomes much easier if you’ve disarmed him first.

So to maintain peace on earth and goodwill toward men, I urge you to buy a firearm this Christmas and learn how to use it. Support the Second Amendment. Keep peace on earth … or at least in our country.

*** end quote ***

There’s no doubt that guns are a tool that keeps the peace.

“…if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” -Churchill, The Second World War, vol. 1, The Gathering Storm (London: Cassell, 1948, 272, on the British guarantee to Poland in Spring 1939.

The politicians and bureaucrats are NOT the friends of the People that they pretend to be. They want to exercise power over us.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Fort Worth woman alone at home kills intruder

By Domingo Ramirez Jr.

*** begin quote ***

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 6700 block of Fortune Road shortly before 3:30 a.m. A woman, who said she was alone in the house, told officers that she was awakened by her doorbell ringing and called 911, police said. Before officers arrived, a man had entered the house, and she shot him.

*** end quote ***

“Dial 911” and die.

It’s clear that the police, thru no fault of theirs. can’t be everywhere to PREVENT crime.

Everyone has to provide for their own defense. And, they have imho an affirmative duty to do so.

“Victim disarmament is the view that it is somehow better to see a woman raped in an alley and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a gun in her hand.” — T.D. Melrose

Personally, I’m sad that there was a death. And, there’s no explanation as to why? Drunk, criminal intent, or blunder.

But whatever the reason, you can’t fault the woman. In fact, she deserves applause for defending herself.

RKBA is all about protecting yourself and your family from criminals and Gooferment.

GUNS: The heck with “wasp spray”; get a gun and practice

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

SOMEONE FORWARDED SOME INTERNET “ADVICE”:

*** begin quote ***

Note: Read all the way to the bottom, wasp spray and key fob are the best ideas of all!

There are some really great tips here: The best are near the end. Common sense applied in a vigorous way.

*** begin “advice” ***

THIRTEEN THINGS YOUR BURGLAR WON’T TELL YOU

If you don’t have a gun, here’s a more humane way to wreck someone’s evil plans for you. (I guess I can get rid of the baseball bat.):

WASP SPRAY

A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn’t attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection. Thought this was interesting and might be of use.

*** and ***

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr.’s office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night.  If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It’s a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won’t stick around. After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won’t want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

P.S. I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic. Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can’t reach a phone. My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn’t hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she’ll know there’s a problem.

*** end “advice” ***

*** end quote ***

I’ve read the “wasp spray” advice before.

In the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee and other of the socialist states, you can’ do that legally. (Don’t yell at me. I don’t make the diktats.) It gives the presumption of preplanning.

AND, in line with the great libertarian rules of thumb, like “the three Ss — shoot shovel and shutup”, “better judged by 12 than carried by 6”, and “Where Guns Are Outlawed Terrorist Need Only Boxcutters” — I wouldn’t tell you not to do it. It’s your tush.

BUTT (there’s always a big but) for woman your size, I suggest a nice 380. And, no one’s going to have to compromise their safety. A 1911 might be too big. It’s the gun that tamed the Philippines. A hopped up native with a machete found it difficult to advance when hit ANYWHERE with the equivalent of a ¼ car.

If you don’t want a handgun, I’d then suggest a shotgun. No aim required. And, jacking the shell into the chamber makes a sound that is very satisfying.

One thing the mainstream media never reports is what the gun nuts call “the violence avoided by a firearm”. You’re at home and wave your shotgun at an intruder who runs away; that will NEVER be reported in the press.

Remember an old and true, military motto, “Si vis pacem, para bellum” from Flavius Vegetius Renatus circa 375 AD: “If you want peace, prepare for war.”

GUNS: The lesson of Arizona is more guns for self-defense and the defense of others

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

http://agebuster.wordpress.com/2011/01/10/gun-control

Gun control

*** begin quote ***

Should just anyone be allowed to buy a gun?

*** end quote ***

Yes, anyone should be allowed to guy a gun.

Remember, that we have a Federal Instant Check, no one is reporting on that. Wasn’t that supposed to stop that? No one’s calling that to account. And, what about all the folks, who knew he was a “nut case” and did nothing.

The purpose of the Second Amendment is to empower the people to protect themselves from both bad people and their own government. The first thing that tyrants do is to disarm the people. Look at all the genocides in history, and the ESSENTIAL thing you’ll find is an unarmed citizenry.

The Government, which I call the Gooferment based on their track record, can’t protect you. What’s even funnier is its courts (no conflict of interest in that) have thrown out suits saying that the police have no duty to protect you. Restraining orders, “dial 911”, and the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs” are gigantic examples of stupidity.

I wish no one harm, but we can’t let this incident sway us from the principle, the RIGHT to keep and bear arms in our own defense.

Think how much different it would have been if there was an armed citizenry at this incident. It may have stopped the “shooting gallery” before it started. Criminals are cowards. Victims shouldn’t be defenseless.

“Gun Control” is victim disarmament. What “gun control” should be is hitting what you aim at!

THAT’S the lesson we should take from Arizona.

FL: Self-defense law gets man released from jail
Herald Tribune
11/10/10

*** begin quote ***

Gunfire erupted on a Newtown street in May, leaving Patrick Barbour dead on the road and Alphonse Gallo in jail facing a murder charge and the possibility of life behind bars. But a judge listened to the details of the killing and ruled that Gallo, 35, should not be prosecuted for murder because of Florida’s stand-your-ground law, which allows people to use deadly force to defend themselves. Gallo testified that Barbour and several other men confronted him May 15 …. The two had a minor fight about 30 minutes earlier. Gallo testified that Barbour, 24, threatened to rob him and then pulled a handgun from a pocket. Gallo, who had a concealed weapons permit to carry a handgun, said he drew his own gun and fired at Barbour three times.

*** end quote ***

FL leads the way to common sense. Time to take back the Rights as embodied by the Second Amendment. We need Vermont-style open and concealed carry. Let’s sprinkle some sheepdogs in among the sheep. That should surprise the you-know-what out of those predators who make victims out of people who have been deprived of their RIGHT of self-defense by the Gooferment!

GUNS: Ms. Tori should have had an “equalizer”

Young woman ‘randomly beaten to death by jobless teenager who had rowed with girlfriend’
By Heidi Blake
Published: 8:49AM BST 09 Aug 2010

*** begin quote ***

A young woman was allegedly beaten to death in a random attack by an unemployed teenager who had recently rowed with his girlfriend.

Toni Rudman, 24, was dragged off the street in broad daylight and beaten to death in a nearby builders’ yard in Plumstead, south London.

*** end quote ***

This is a perfect blog fodder.

In the land of “no guns” and “no self-defense”, the strong criminal prevails. What about this woman’s “rights”. Supposedly protected by the Gooferment. ANd, taken away by a 19 year old rogue.

While technically correct, “teenager” is a misnomer. He’s a thug. Perhaps, you could call him a “young adult”, but “teenager” isn’t appropriate. He’s a criminal.

Now, I can’t be sure that a gun would have made a difference, BUT I would certainly like to see Ms. Toni Rudman given a fighting chance. Sam Colt is correctly applauded, “God made man, but Samuel Colt made them equal,” originated as advertising slogan for Colt Manufacturing. It should have been: “God made men and women, but Samuel Colt made them equal”! I can’t say for certain that a nice little 380 in Ms. Tori’s hand would have saved her life. But, I, for one, think that she should have had a chance to defend herself.

That’s what Sheeple on both sides of the pond would like to forget. The world is a dangerous place. And, as if the four legged varmints were not enough of a threat, “We, The People” have allowed a whole subspecies of two legged ones to thrive. While I am a right to lifer where babies are concerned, I’m a little L libertarian who thinks that Ms. Tori had the “unalienable right to life”. As does the “teenager”, up to the point where he initiated force on Ms. Tori. At that point, he made a choice. And, he suffers the consequences of that choice. Ms. Tori SHOULD have had the option to defend her life.

As an interesting thought experiment, if Ms. Tori had been “packing heat”, and if she dropped the “teenager” with a magazine load, then would she have been charged? Probably, because he was just “misunderstood” and she would have “over reacted”.

Another interesting thought experiment, if “open carry” was legal, and if she had on her stylish holster, do you think the “teenager” would have attacked her? Remember Robert A. Heinlein admonishment. “An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.” He wrote a whole book about an armed society. Juvenile science fiction? I think not.

We are living in a time when the Sheeple are convinced by their politicians and bureaucrats that the timeless laws are suspended. The old ones no longer apply. Just yesterday, I heard Mayor Bloomberg pontificating about “keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals”. The only way that is going to happen is if he cuts off their hands. Criminals don’t obey laws. It may be a bumper sticker, but it’s still true: “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns”. (I call Bloomberg a pontificator, because he has tax-payer supplied 24/7 armed security. And, even before he was mayor he had bodyguards. (I know I met him twice and saw him several times on Wall Street. He was a real SOB then. I doubt he’s changed. Thought he was right then; no doubt still does.) Unless you think the hulking guy, with the strategic bulge who was always with him, was really his “aide”.

Bottom line: I grieve for Ms. Tori. She was killed by the Gooferment. Just as surely as if they had beaten her to death themselves. England is the land of fools. They think that a Gooferment diktat can repeal the laws of nature. Those twits have made it back into the Jungle. Survival of the fittest. The strong can kill all those weaker than themselves. With just the barest of inconvenience. Watch the results. This “teenager” will be portrayed as: a poor helpless waif; totally misunderstood; who was failed by society which should have given him a job; and was a romantic rejected by his life’s love. Get out the violins and flowers. You will think he’s saint who stumbled.

Instead, he’s evil. A criminal who preys on the weak. To satisfy his blood lust. He deserves to be removed from the gene pool. Just as he did Ms. Tori.

I’d suggest a “must carry” law. And, mandatory gun training and swimming lessons for everyone. Especially girls. Since they seem to get the shit end of the stick.

Gandhi said “Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.” Perhaps, he was wrong. Their self-delusion that they could legislate away the inalienable right to life and propagating that idea around the world will be the blackest. What they did to India was just a subset of that misdeed.

To arms, to arms, the British are coming. Even worse, their misguided idea have seeped into “liberal” minds here.

We need to revise that to the foolish idiots are coming to impose their will on us. Who care what costume they wear? All though lets hope they are nice and bright so were can aim at an easy target.

Sorry, Ms. Tori, you should have had a fighting chance. You should have been able to defend yourself with a true “equalizer”.

More importantly, we need to make Vermont-style carry the law of the land here. Nothing like “Ms Tori” should happen here. Arm all the women and girls. I trust them to make good decisions.

Having spent most of my life in New Hampshire, which issued carry permits regularly since long before this old man was born and reportedly was the lowest-crime state in the union last year – and now owning a home in Florida, which caused all manner of angst amongst the lightweights when it made carry permits readily available in the late ‘80s – I can testify that when good people carry guns, the streets don’t run red with blood. Quite the reverse, in fact.

Kagan will do the same thing.
