Ed Bambas doesn’t know he’s become an internet sensation, but he’s about to find out just how much his story has resonated on social media.

The 88-year-old veteran working a full-time job at a Michigan grocery store is now at the center of a social media movement aiming to help him retire, with more than $1.2 million raised as of Wednesday.

In a post from Australian influencer Samuel Weidenhofer, Bambas explained that he retired as a salaried employee from General Motors in 1999, but lost his pension due to the company’s bankruptcy measures in 2012.

That year, the Old General Motors offered lump-sum payments to about 42,000 retirees and their surviving beneficiaries as they aimed to cut 24 percent from their U.S. pension obligation, NBC News reported at the time. NBC Chicago has not been able to confirm if Bambas was a part of those offerings.

Still, Bambas said his retirement quickly changed when his wife fell ill and he became her caregiver, leading to mounting medical bills.

“I sold my house, sold the property I had, and we made it through,” Bambas said through tears in the now-viral video. “My wife died seven years ago. Since then I’ve been trying to re-establish myself.”

Getting old sucks and going broke when you’re old is even worse.

Kudos to the Australian influencer Samuel Weidenhofer for picking up the story and all the folks who contributed to the GoFundMe.

GOVERNACIDE: Analyziz of a school shooting and no one cares

Shouldn’t Have Happened: The Oxford High Shooting
By Rebecca Behrends

  • There were so many red flags, warnings, gaps, and deficiencies that school boards and parents need to come to terms with.

*** begin quote ***

Meanwhile, the boy’s backpack was brought to the office. None of the school officials asked for consent to search his backpack. Later, the shooter testified to a defense psychologist that he was relieved for the first time in his life when he was in the counselor’s office because he just knew that sheriffs would burst into the office and arrest him. After all they had witnessed, he felt there would be no way that they wouldn’t search his backpack.

Well, they didn’t search his backpack. Had they done so, they would have found a gun and bullets. This was the weapon the shooter used later in the day to kill four students and injure five other students and a teacher.

The school counselor and the dean of students never asked the parents if their son had access to a firearm. It was concluded that it would be okay to send the boy back to his classroom, as it would be a “controlled, supervised” setting, and “we know that students are happier when they’re with their peers.” Four individuals had knowledge of threatening behavior of the shooter, but this info was not shared through their computerized database. Had the principal been notified, he would have had the authority to trigger a Threat Assessment and a Suicide Assessment Intervention. The shooter’s social media posts would have been checked, which would have revealed that he did have access to a firearm.

Schools are like prisons.  They train the “students” to be “inmates”.  Gooferment Skrules are the worst.

That being said, why don’t we treat them like they were prisons.  Armed guards and locks on everything.

Let’s not kid ourselves that “gun free zones” are really “target rich environments”!

Argh!

Furious Michigan town demands justice after cops kill beloved deer named Annie – as graphic video shows officer pinning doe and firing handgun

  •     Annie the deer was euthanized at a property in Lawrence, Michigan, on Friday after police arrived at the home for a separate incident
  •     Graphic video shared on social media shows Annie wrestling with Officer David Loza who had slipped a lead around her neck before he can be seen shooting her
  •     The death of the beloved animal has sent a shockwave through the community, prompting outrage from locals over the actions of Officer Loza

The officer manages to pin Annie while she is laying upside down, before pulling out a handgun and firing a single shot, the deer jolts before going limp.

Under Michigan law, only licensed rehabilitators can legally possess wildlife – meaning families are banned from keeping wild animals as pets.

“What the monsters you last interacted with did to you was cruel, inhumane, and heartless.”

The police are not your friends. They were there for an unrelated mater and, for whatever reason, decided to kill the deer.

Remember someone loaded the Jews on the trains to the death camps. The police don’t “protect and serve” us!

Argh!

Interesting that the deer was “rehabilitated” just like the “law” intended.  Probably send the carcass to the dump.

Who or what authorized Officer David Loza to kill the deer?

Argh!

LIBERTARIAN: Misconduct by the FBI and its informants lead to entrapment of two fools

Two Michigan Men Convicted of Conspiracy to Kidnap Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

  • The suspects in the kidnapping plot claim the FBI set them up.

Posted by Mary Chastain Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 01:00pm

The entrapment accusation came out in July 2021 by BuzzFeed of all places. The outlet reviewed the evidence and found out that at least 12 of the FBI confidential informants had a larger role in the plot:

Julie Kelly had a great thread:

*Limited cross examin by defense (for 1st time he said, also extremely rare in criminal cases) of 2 cooperating witnesses allegedly part of the conspiracy

*Repeatedly scolded defense in front of jury; accused defense of wasting time over “crap” questioning

*Gave unwieldy…

Judge Jonker, a GWB appointee, handled this trial far differently than the first.

You’re telling me a jury didn’t convict on a SINGLE COUNT in first trial with 2 more defendants but returned all guilty in less than half the time with 2 fewer defendants?

Jonker got the message.

I hope there’s an appeal.  I’d contribute to a defense fund.

Yes, they were stupid bozos but the FBI did the entrapment.

GOVERNACIDE: Here’s a Gooferment Skrule killing young men

Three frat boys are charged over hazing death of MSU student, 21, who died from acute alcohol intoxication after being found passed out in a dirty basement covered in urine and vomit along with three other pledges

  • Phat Nguyen, 21, died last November after a night of hazing at Pi Alpha Pi
  • He was found passed out in a basement covered in urine and vomit
  • One had blood dripping from his nose and was ‘convulsing’
  • They all had the word ‘simp’ written on their backs and were shirtless
  • Pledge master Ethan Cao is among those charged now with Phat’s death
  • Hoang Pham and Andrew Nguyen were also charged
  • All three have been charged with one count of felony hazing resulting in death and three counts of felony hazing resulting in injury
  • They will return to court in East Lansing, Michigan, on June 23

Three Michigan State University students have been charged over the hazing death of a teenager who died last year from acute alcohol intoxication after being found passed out in his frat house covered in vomit and urine.

Phat Nguyen, 21, died in November after a brutal night of drinking at the Pi Alpha Phi off-campus fraternity house in East Lansing, Michigan.

Ethan Cao, Hoang Pham, and Andrew Nguyen were all charged with one count each of felony hazing resulting in death, and three misdemeanor counts of hazing resulting in physical injury for three other boys who were also taken to the hospital on the night of the incident but who survived.

*** end quote ***

Sorry, but there ought to be a law. Your fraternity “hazes”; your frat is dead!

It’s a Gooferment Skrule, so by extension it is permitting this to happen under its auspices.

Maybe MSU should do penance by suspending all student activities for four years?

At the very least, the MSU administration should be fired for “failure to supervise” and “loss of confidence in their ability to lead a University.”

Michigan Voters Smash Tax Hike Referendum

Proposal 1 suffered the worst defeat Tuesday of any Michigan ballot measure since the current Constitution was adopted more than a half-century ago, as 80 percent of voters rejected the sales tax increase and road funding plan. . . .

*** and ***

Saginaw County businessman Paul Mitchell set up an opposition group and began lambasting the proposal for directing $700 million to areas unrelated to repairing roads, such as education, cities, public transit and an expanded tax break for the working poor.

Mitchell called the non-road spending a “a $700 million toll to special interests,” defining the issue before the “yes” campaign could respond on the airwaves.

*** end quote ***

Nice to see that the Michigan voters ain’t buying the Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association, representing road builders, $5.4 million Safe Roads Yes propaganda.

Pretty good. Put in 5.4 to get 700 back.

With the appropriate payoffs to the politicians and astroturf groups.

No wonder “We, The Sheeple” are bankrupt.

Morally and fiscally.

SURVIVAL: Being fragile “animal” in a dangerous world

2 missing sisters visiting family in Michigan found after nearly 2 weeks

The women – Leslie Roy, 52, and Lee Marie Wright, 56 – survived on Girl Scout cookies while stuck in their snow-crippled SUV. A pilot noticed a reflection off the Ford Explorer and landed the police helicopter on shore, ending the women’s unexpected wilderness adventure.

*** end quote ***

Tough world out there. Especially when you’re unprepared.

It’s not like you don’t have room in an SUV for a “Bug Out”, “Get Home”, or “Holy Hell What’s Happening” bag.

Fire making materials, survival blankets, food and water seem obvious.

And people think an SUV is a ATV.

At least they were smart enough to stay with the SUV!

Dumb that they didn’t start burning the spare after a week?

Recently when I was driving from Manchester NH to Keene NH, I found large stretches with no cell phone service. So you can’t depend upon that.

Most important is a survival mindset.

If you’re depending upon a road being plowed, then you better do some research.

When in Vegas and we’d go for a ride, there were always two gallons of water in the rental car. And we were NOT going of the beaten track. But it’s dry and hot there.

And, finally, you always have to leave a route with your “canary”. That is someone who knows where you are, where you’re going, and when you’ll check back in. I acted as a “canary” for someone traveling alone in Japan. (We even had a code word!)

These women were very lucky.

The human being is a fragile “animal” in a dangerous world.

RANT: Sportsmanship missing

Sunday, January 29, 2012

5:27 first half of Michigan Ohio State …

… in real time in looked like the Michigan guard creamed the Ohio State player …

… on replay it’s obvious that it was a flop …

… the refs were ready to call a flagrant, but went to the video replay …

… changed it to a no call …

Sorry not good enough for me.

The flopping player should get a technical for “bad acting”, delay of game, or unsportsmanlike conduct.

If the refs were going to toss the Michigan guard for rough play, then the Ohio State player should be at risk of the same penalty.

Argh!

Play hard, but it always has to be “honest”.

Argh!
