In the summer of 2012, the League ran radio ads in Tennessee and Maine asking Senators Corker, Alexander, Snowe and Collins to support campaign finance reform. The ads were made possible through a grant from the Unitarian Universalist Church at Shelter Rock in Long Island, NY. The ads were timed in anticipation of Congressional action on the DISCLOSE Act. The ads garnered press coverage from outlets in both states.

Today the League continues to push for legislation to protect and reinvigorate the public financing system for president. In addition, the League continues to work to reinvigorate the dysfunctional Federal Election Commission (FEC) which has refused to enforce the law.

I have some suggestion for Federal Gooferment campaign restrictions:

  • Only campaign contributions from eligible registered voters in the district.  (Limited to $1,000)
  • NO corporation contributions.  (Could be implemented by making it a tax event.)
  • NO Political Action Committee contributions or advertising for a candidate.
  • NO contributions from foreign governments.
  • Violations are sentenced to a minimum of one year in prison and barred from future campaigns.

That should put an end to the <synonym for excrement> that happened to Massie.

Argh!

Ask me how I really feel!

Billionaires from the L.I.S.A. super PAC have donated nearly $3 million against Trump-endorsed Alaskan Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka, the opponent of establishment and pro-impeachment incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).

L.I.S.A, which reportedly stands for “Leadership in a Strong Alaska,” only backs one candidate, Murkowski. The main PAC contributors are hedge fund managers Ken Griffin, John Arnold, and Louis Bacon, who, respectively, contributed $1.5 million, $500,000, and $50,000. “James and Kathryn Murdoch, the politically moderate heirs to the Murdoch media empire, have each given $250,000,” Forbes reported:

I heard, on one of the many podcasts that I listen to, the idea that politicians should only be able to take campaign contributions from folks who can vote for them.

I like that idea.

Every politician should be required to post where their money comes from.

Maybe jackets like NASCAR?
