Maybe that happens, maybe it is too far gone and alt-right is a just an echo from the past that is too far gone to matter. Regardless, generation Meathead will be remembered as the cohort that gnawed away at the social fabric of the nation, like rats, until it began to fall to pieces. Maybe this election is the start of the great cleaning up of the mess made by guys like Reiner and he cohort. Maybe it is something else, but their time is coming to an end. Generation Meathead will soon be gone. Good riddance

I remember a line from a movie directed by Rob Reiner

“… You gather a group of middle-aged, middle-class, middle-income voters who remember with longing an easier time, and you talk to them about family and American values and character. …”

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112346/quotes?ref_=tt_ql_trv_4

I remember “with longing” for that easier time.

… when only those with military experience could aspire to be a Commander in Chief or a Senator.

… when the Blue Dog Democrats were the budget hawks and the Republicans were too.

… when there was a Senate selected by the State Legislators and there was no such thing as an “unfunded mandate”.

… when there was shame at being on the public dole and folk looked after each other.

… when criminals were severely punish and honest citizens could be safe in their daily lives.

… when the money was honest.

… when the politicians and bureaucrats were too. (Alright, there was the concept of “good graft”.)

I feel sorry that the “Greatest Generation” may have abdicated their responsibility to transfer their ethic to the next one.

Hopefully, it’s not too late.

DeSantis finds it staggering that Saudi Arabia was “granted sovereign immunity” despite so much evidence pointing in its direction.

“Since when do you afford sovereign immunity to a foreign country involved in terrorist attacks upon your country that kills tens of thousands, not just the 3,000 that they claimed that day, which I don’t believe as I think it was higher, but those who have died later from their injuries and their illnesses,” he said.

Seems like it!

We need to get to the “true story”.

GOVERNACIDE: Another Benghazi factoid I didn’t know about!

U.S. law also requires the secretary of state to ensure that all U.S. government personnel assigned to a diplomatic post abroad be located at one site. If not, the secretary — and only the secretary — with the concurrence of the agency head whose personnel will be located at a different location, must issue a waiver. The law, which states specifically that the waiver decision cannot be delegated, was passed after the 1998 bombing of two U.S. embassies in Africa, when deficient security was blamed for that debacle under Bill Clinton’s presidency.

After all this time, here comes yet another factoid that I don’t think was well known.

While I don’t think Congress — or any “committee” — can “legislate” tactics, it does seem clear that they can insist on the proper level of decision making on certain “hot topics” or high risk sites of previous disasters.

Argh!

Do politicians and bureaucrats EVER learn?

RANT: What have we learned from 9/11?

Zumwalt: Fifteen Years After 9/11, What Have We Learned?
by JAMES ZUMWALT

*** begin quote ***

Because we fail to label it as such, civilization jihad has established a beachhead throughout the Western world. One need only look to France to understand what is happening.

Today more than half that country’s military is deployed domestically due to the Islamist threat. We see Muslim policemen refusing to protect Jewish synagogues, targeted by supposed Muslim “moderates,” yet the false cry of Islamophobia hides the reality anti-Semitism exists there. No wonder Jews are now leaving France in droves.

Interestingly, even as Muslims on Arab TV broadcast programs raising the issue of their religion’s penchant for violence, political correctness inhibits any such discussion in the West. Given this free pass, clerics in Western mosques continue to preach Islam’s gospel of global sharia to their flocks. While teaching anti-West hatred, some clerics, like England’s recently-convicted (for promoting ISIS) Anjem Choudary, live off welfare, earning more than the British soldiers being sent to fight the Islamism they promote.

What have we learned from 9/11? In the words of the Temptations, “Absolutely nothing!”

*** end quote ***

Sadly, he’s absolutely correct.

We are allowing the politicians and bureaucrats to flood the country with “refugees” who immediately get more “welfare” than our own citizens and veterans.

We are allowing “political correctness” to preempt the discussion on important national issues.

We are allowing the leftist “media” to convince us of thing that will destroy us.

AND, worst of all, “we” don’t seem to understand the depth and breath of the problems.

SECESSION: If 9/11 can’t change the interventional foreign, then maybe secession is the peaceful way out?

The Great Divide—and Secession?
By Kirkpatrick Sale
September 9, 2016

*** begin quote ***

Yes, it is true that once there was a war fought to stop secession, but that was because the richest part of the country was the one that voted to secede, and that would have meant a great loss of the duties and tariffs the rest of the country had come to depend on.  So the threatened part had to go to war against the richest part to prevent that loss, with the full backing of the party of its industrialists, bankers, and railroadmen.

But those conditions no longer obtain.  If Texas seceded it would not seriously endanger the wealth of the rest of the country, though there would need to be a resetting of certain trade and ownership relations.  And it would be a wonderful trading partner—it would rank 12th in the world in total GDP and its GDP per capita would put it in the top 10, and 12 per cent higher than the remaining United States.  Of course, its defense industry might be hit hard if the U.S. didn’t want to support it any longer, and Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopter and the rest might lose contracts, but an independent Texas would surely be happy to build up its own defenses and be an immediate replacement for lost work.

*** end quote ***

Unfortunately, … …

… … our foreign policy sucks. And, there doesn’t seem to be any way to get it changed.

So maybe we need to change the system.

Secession of one or more states, or groups of states, would give an obvious reason for a real “reset”.

Dump all these terrible “agreements” and become like the Swiss who do MYOB so well.

RANTING: What good is the FDA?

What to Eat and What to Avoid to Protect Against Kidney Cancer

When meat producers advertise their bacon or lunch meat as “uncured,” this means no nitrites or nitrates added. But if you look at the small print you’ll see something like “except for celery juice.” That’s just a sneaky way to add nitrites. Processed meat producers ferment the nitrates in celery to create nitrites, then add it to the meat; a practice even the industry admits “may be viewed as incorrect at best or deceptive at worst.”

*** end quote ***

So “meat producers” find away to deceive the consumers and where’s the FDA?

Why does “We, The Sheeple” think that the Gooferment cares about “protecting” THEM?

ECONOMICS: EBT — the hidden soup lines

First of all, if there were soup lines, the corporate media would just ignore them. If they don’t report it, then it isn’t happening. Secondly, the soup lines are electronic, as the government downloads the “soup” onto EBT cards so JP Morgan can reap billions in fees to run the SNAP program. Just because there are no pictures of starving downtrodden Americans in shabby clothes waiting in soup lines, doesn’t mean the majority of Americans aren’t experiencing a depression.

*** and ***

Long-term discouraged workers were defined out of official existence in 1994. If you stop looking for a job because there are no jobs available, the BLS pretends you no longer exist and you are dropped from their unemployment calculations. John Williams at Shadowstats rightfully adds these discouraged workers, who are willing to work, back into the calculation and surprise, surprise, the real unemployment rate in this country has been between 18% and 23% for the last seven years. Those rates are identical to the worst years of the Great Depression.

*** end quote ***

So what will it take to “make America great again”?

Well, they always say the first step to solving a problem is to admit you have one!

And, imho, “we” have several!

(1) honest money;

(2) Crony Capitalism;

(3) the FED;

(4) the warfare / welfare state; and

(5) the Gooferment Skrules.

None are easy to solve if we don’t have any moral, ethical, or personal backbone!

INSPIRATIONAL: Mother Teresa, the voiceless unborn child was truly the “poorest of the poor”

Thursday, September 8, 2016

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/09/03/why-the-left-hates-mother-teresa-of-calcutta/

Why the Left Hates Mother Teresa of Calcutta
by THOMAS D. WILLIAMS, PH.D.
03 Sep 20162

*** begin quote ***

As the world awaits Mother Teresa’s canonization Sunday, one mystery remains: why the international Left still harbors such hatred for a diminutive religious sister who spent her entire life serving the poorest of the poor.

After all, with her inexhaustible dedication to alleviating poverty and assisting the needy, Mother Teresa should be an icon of liberals the world over. Instead, we find that the Left showers her not with affection and praise, but with scorn and disdain.

*** and ***

For Mother Teresa, the voiceless unborn child was truly the “poorest of the poor,” who deserves our undying respect and protection.

In her acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, for instance, she dared to say, “I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a direct war, a direct killing – direct murder by the mother herself.”

At the National Prayer Breakfast in 1994, the politically incorrect sister told then-President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary that abortion is a “war against the child.”

“And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?” the nun continued.

*** and ***

“I see Jesus in every human being,” she said. “I say to myself, this is hungry Jesus, I must feed him. This is sick Jesus. This one has leprosy or gangrene; I must wash him and tend to him. I serve because I love Jesus.”

Despite her spiritual motivations, however, Mother Teresa was an avowed enemy of proselytism in her work with the poor. She offered love and assistance to all, without ever making conversion a condition or even an aim of her care.

“We never try to convert those whom we receive to Christianity,” she said, “but in our work we bear witness to the love of God’s presence, and if Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, or agnostics become for this better men—simply better—we will be satisfied.”

*** end quote ***

As a little L libertarian, the “issue” of abortion is probably the hardest to deal with.

From a survival of the species, abortion is the suicide of the species. I can’t think of a bigger signal flashing “danger will rogers” to us all. How can we plow through that big STOP sign. Look at Japan and Europe that are not replacing their populations.

From a moral perspective, if there is a right to life, then how can we ignore these babies in the womb.

Of course, it’s not just enough to wring one’s hand about abortion and forget about children the minute they are born into terrible poverty. Unfortunately, the current system stinks.

Hopefully, we can all have a little Mother Teresa in our daily lives.
