FINANCIAL: Why youngsters will always be broke!

Monday, July 29, 2019

2019-Jul-29

All, and I mean ALL, the youngsters I know, and I know at least a dozen, will always be broke because they are financially illiterate. Thanks to financially illiterate Gooferment Skrules, parents, and relatives.

Despite having suggested it often — to the point of making myself bored — not one of them, NOT one, has set up any kind of a sinking fund bank account.

Case in point, a certain young lady was give a car.  I strongly suggested that she take the cost of the car ~18k$ and divide it by an estimated life of 70k miles which would translate to ~26¢ per mile.  Then, she should deposit each week an amount equivalent to number of miles driven times 25 cents.  (Even the Gooferment Skrules mathematically challenge can divide by four for the number of dollars to be “saved”.)

Guess what?

Never did it and guess who’s car just clocked 70k miles?  And, now guess who’s in a quandary as repair bills start to come in (i.e., tires, brakes, belts, etc. etc. etc.).

And she is not alone.  EVERY one is in the same boat.

Financially illiteratacy “costs” lives, happiness, and relationships.

Nie mój cyrk, nie moje małpy . . . literally, “not my circus, not my monkey;” figuratively, “not my problem.” — Polish saying

And I am the grumpy old cynic!

Where Do We Go From Here?*, by L. Neil Smith

Sunday, July 28, 2019

Novelist Victor Koman was dead right, when he said (in his great work, Kings of the High Frontier) that the actual mission of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration—its not-so-hidden agenda, having nothing to do with the development of space travel and exploration—is to keep scum like you and me from ever getting into space.

Donald Trump Taunts Nancy Pelosi and ‘Failing’ San Francisco

Sunday, July 28, 2019

“Speaking of failing badly, has anyone seen what is happening to Nancy Pelosi’s district in San Francisco.” Trump wrote on Twitter. “It is not even recognizable lately. Something must be done before it is too late.”

I agree with his calling out “shitholes”, wether they be foreign countries or American cities.

It’s especially embarrassing when they are American Cities.  I notice that they all have D’s mayors and representatives.

Wonder when “We, The Sheeple” in those cities will wake up?

Argh!

Whistling Past The $70 Trillion Debt Graveyard

Sunday, July 28, 2019

Authored by Lance Roberts via RealInvestmentAdvice.com, Market Review & Update Last week, we discussed the setup for a near-term mean reversion because of the massive extension above the long-term mean. To wit: “There is also just the simple issue that markets are very extended above their long-term trends, as shown in the chart below.

When this self-induced tragedy hits, “We, The Sheeple” will have no one to blame but their voting to blame.  Get rid on incumbents!  It doesn’t matter who you vote for, just not the incumbent.  Can they possible be worse?  What can they do it two years that can not be fixed by voting them out too.

Argh!

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: 235 MPG diesel didn’t fit the “green” electric car narrative, so it was killed!

The Car That Almost Was
By eric – July 24, 20194345

*** begin quote ***

In the department of What Might Have Been, we find a car almost no one who isn’t a car industry insider has ever heard of – but which very nearly was.

You haven’t heard of it for good reason.

Well, good reason . . . from the point of view of other insiders. The ones inside the government.

It is a car VW briefly brought out to show what could be done – and just as quickly withdrew. Probably because it showed what could be done.

This car was powered by a 1 liter diesel engine and achieved a verified 170 miles-per-gallon. With its hybrid drive engaged, the mileage rose to an incredible 235 MPG. Put another way, on about two gallons of diesel, this VW could go almost 500 miles before it needed more diesel. And it would only need two more gallons to travel another almost 500 miles.

*** end quote ***

Eric Peters goes into detail about the 22k$ “commuter car” and how it would have disrupted the “then-nascent electrification putsch”!

Clearly, anyone, of any age, remembers that Detroit, aka Big Three Auto, back in the 50’s and 60’s was accused of buying up inventions that would make higher mileage engines. That might have been an “urban legend” or a “Conspiracy Theory”, but it is another WMHB (“What Might Have Been”).  I know my long passed uncles believed it.

And, I guess the automakers have found a cheaper way to eliminate competition, like good Crony Capitalists, they encourage more Gooferment regulation! Argh!

Now Nissan has allegedly gone broke on building “electric cars” and I see more “electric pumping stations” being built.  I wonder who is subsidizing them with tax dollars.

Last time, I looked at buying a electric car, the price was joke — even with the Gooferment subsidy —  and the range and recharge time was even more laughable.

I’ve also read that the calculation of total emissions around an electric car completely ignores the solution from mining and building one.  And, that it barely beats current gas engine cars.  That’s why the Gooferment want to consider CO2 as an “emission”.

Bottom line: Once again, “We, The Sheeple” are being screwed again by, those people Tom Woods sarcastically calla “Our Wise Overlords”, politicians and bureaucrats!

Argh!

Trump Kills the Tea Party – LewRockwell

Friday, July 26, 2019

The Tea Party wave of 2009 and 2010, a Republican movement born in reaction to the budget blowouts of the Obama Presidency, is now officially dead. It’s ironic that as Trump hammered the final nail into the Tea Party’s coffin, no one seemed happier than the corpse itself! There was hardly a word of discomfort from all the Republican Senators and Congressmen who had so loudly railed against debt when the other party occupied the White House. There is simply no legitimate way that Republicans will ever be able to argue again that they are the party of fiscal discipline. They may try, but only the most partisan and credulous voters will buy it.

Citroën Sabotaged Wartime Nazi Truck Production in a Simple and Brilliant Way

Thursday, July 25, 2019

John Reynold’s book Citroën 2CV describes Boulanger’s sabotage efforts. Of course, he instructed workers to set a nice, leisurely pace when building trucks (likely Citroën T45 trucks) for the Wermacht, but that’s fairly obvious. What was brilliant was Boulanger’s idea to move the little notch on the trucks’ oil dipsticks that indicated the proper level of oil down just a bit lower.By moving the notch down, the trucks would not have enough oil, but German mechanics would have no idea, because, hey, the little notch on the dipstick says its just fine. Then, after the truck has been used for a while and is out deployed somewhere crucial, whammo, the engine seizes up, and you’ve got a lot of angry, stranded, vulnerable Nazis, balling up their little fists and redly barking curses in German.

Quoth the Raven #131 – Dave Collum: The Conspiracy Theory Episode
July 19, 2019

*** begin quote ***

Dave talks nearly 3 hours of conspiracy theories: we go deep on the Las Vegas shooting and 9/11, we also talk the Fed and big pharma. Collum also weighs in with his stance on JFK, the Moon landings, HAARP, chemtrails and how the Jeffrey Epstein fiasco could turn the world on its fucking head.

David B. Collum is an economic commentator, chemist, Betty R. Miller Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University. He holds a PhD, Columbia University, MS, Columbia University, MA, Columbia University and BS, Cornell University.

Sadly, I agree with his suspicions on 9/11 and JFK.  How stupid are “We, The Sheeple”?

Google Punishes Whistleblowing Engineer with Administrative Leave

Thursday, July 25, 2019

If Coppola is let go, he will be the third public victim of Google’s inherent bias toward conservative engineers. Coppola openly admitted in his interview with O’Keefe that he “liked Trump and liked his policies.” He stated that the search engine relies too much on biased news outlets to feed its users negative news on Trump.

Presidential candidates Gabbard and Harris spar after Gabbard claims Harris is ‘not qualified to serve as President

Wednesday, July 24, 2019

On Tuesday, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, attacked Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) as “not qualified” to serve as president. She claimed that “personal perspective as a soldier” is essential for presidents and she singled out Harris as lacking the necessary “temperament” to lead the country. “I think one of the things I’m most concerned with is, Kamala Harris is not qualified to serve as commander in chief, and I can say this from a personal perspective as a soldier,” Gabbard told Clay Travis on the podcast “Outkick the Coverage.” Gabbard argued that Harris has “got no background or experience in foreign policy, and she lacks the temperament that is necessary for a commander in chief.

I agree.

Once upon a time, before “BJ” Clinton, you couldn’t be elected President without having served in the military.  For better or worse, they at least understand what is at stake.

Perhaps, “We, The Sheeple” should resurrect that rule.

“A soldier accepts personal responsibility for the safety of the body politic of which he is a member, defending it, if need be, with his life. The civilian does not.” — Lt. Col. Jean V. Dubois (Ret.) and student, p. 26 Starship Troopers (1959) by Robert A. Heinlein
