Why Democrats should be worried about mail-in voting
By Rich Lowry
September 3, 2020 | 7:54pm

*** begin quote ***

What should be intolerable is any attempt to change the rules after the fact — although it is entirely conceivable that Democrats will feel compelled after Nov. 3 to argue that the mail-in voting that they have done so much to promote is desperately flawed and deeply unjust.

*** end quote ***

I’m reminded of the Republican’s reaction to a four term FDR.  They passed an amendment limiting the President to two terms.

Who was the first impacted by it?

Eisenhower!

And the other adverse effect was to have lame duck President in his second term unable to do much.

Argh!

So too, it might be “funny” if “mail in ballots” hurts the D’s.  And, the Unintended Consequences might be strife about the elections results!  Anyone remember our old friend from Florida “having chad”?

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: The Flint Lead Crisis May Be the Tip of the Iceberg | NutritionFacts.org

Saturday, September 5, 2020

Though “the specific breed of alleged government corruption” may be unique to Flint, “the end result might not be so rare in the USA—home to an ageing water system.” As the president of the Children’s Health Fund said, “The Pandora’s box is now wide open.” Flint may be only “the tip of an enormous iceberg”—potentially “just one of a great many icebergs.”

POLITICAL: Biden / Harris have an Anti-Catholic school bias

Anti-Catholic school bias

In 2012, the Obama-Biden administration stood with teachers’ unions and against low-income parents choosing a private or religious school for their child’s education.

The administration’s 2013 budget eliminated funding for the highly successful D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, which allowed many low-income parents to afford to remove their children from failing public schools and send them to a religious or private school.

Supported by the teachers’ unions, the Biden-Harris ticket follows along with the same agenda.

“When we divert public funds to private schools, we undermine the entire public education system,” Biden tweeted in January. “We’ve got to prioritize investing in our public schools, so every kid in America gets a fair shot. That’s why I oppose vouchers.”

*** end quote ***

Based on the performance of Gooferment Skrules, I’d say that a “free market” in schools is OVERRDUE.

For all the money STOLEN in the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee from “homeowners”, “We, The Sheeple” deserve better!

The States and Cities “ruled” by Democrats are an “shining” example of the USA’s future under Biden.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: 9,210? ??? WTH!

And one other thing. That number of Americans who have died of COVID-19, and COVID-19 alone? Turns out it’s not quite 180,000. It’s . . . um, just a little lower. It’s actually . . . um . . . nine thousand, two hundred and ten.

9,210.

*** end quote ***

I have always doubted the “models” and Gooferment stats.  When they get something right, it must be the end of the world because they have not yet.

The Gooferment is ALWAYS immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy.

When it no doubt, it’s in doubt!

NEWJERSEY: Murphy usurped the power of the legislature

Sell the Postal Service!
By Andrew P. Napolitano
August 27, 2020

*** begin quote ***

So, when New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, for example, ordered the printing and mailing of 4 million ballots — one to every registered voter in the state — so as to enable individuals to choose to vote in person or by mail, he usurped the power of the legislature. Only a few New Jersey Republicans complained, but the Democratic-controlled legislature did nothing. Perhaps it has grown accustomed to Murphy’s governing by decree.

The legal challenge to Murphy’s latest authoritarianism will no doubt fail. That’s because the Supreme Court has consistently ruled this year that the mechanisms for voting are left to the states and any grievances about them are political. Stated differently, the court is telling us if we don’t like Murphy’s rules — or the rules of any state legislature or governor — we can vote them out of office.

*** end quote ***

And we should tell the court or courts that “vote the bums out” is virtually impossible in the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee.

So “We, The Sheeple” are hog-tied and screwed over time and time again.

‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’ I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell – ‘I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Things have got to change. But first, you’ve gotta get mad!… You’ve got to say, ‘I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Then we’ll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: [screaming at the top of his lungs] “I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!” — the character Howard Beale played by Peter Finch in the movie Network (1976)

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Time for the USPS to go?

Sell the Postal Service!
By Andrew P. Napolitano — August 27, 2020

*** begin quote ***

It is a grossly inefficient entity which could never survive were it not a monopoly. How inefficient is it? In 2019, it lost $8.8 billion. Who makes up for the losses? The taxpayers.

No monopoly can exist without government violating the basic laws of economics. We have lived with this inefficiency for too long. It should change radically — after this November.

The postal couriers and their managers may be able resist snow and rain and heat and gloom of night, but to take on competition — to allow the economic laws of supply and demand to reduce prices and enhance services — will be too much for them to bear.

In 2021, the federal government should sell the Postal Service to the highest bidder.

*** end quote ***

The Dead Old White Guys were pretty sharp but (imho) they blew this one!

Lysander Spooner — a little L libertarian icon — demonstrated that one could deliver mail cheaper, better and faster than the USPS.

It’s taken a while but it’s obvious that it’s time has past.  Amazon will have to figure out another way to milk the public.

INSPIRATIONAL: Groundhog Day — a deeply Catholic movie

MOVIE | Groundhog Day (a deeply Catholic movie)

*** begin quote ***

Groundhog day with Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell is on many peoples Top 10 favorite movies of all time.  But who knew that the movie has deep philosophical and Christian themes – in fact, it is a very Catholic.

*** and ***

The movie, the article went on to observe, “has become a curious favorite of religious leaders of many faiths, who all see inGroundhog Daya reflection of their own spiritual messages.” A professor at NYU shows it in her classes to illustrate the doctrine of samsara (the endless cycle of rebirth Buddhists seek to escape), while a rabbi in Greenwich Village sees the film as hinging on mitvahs (good deeds). Wiccans like it because February 2nd is one of the year’s four “great sabbats,” while the Falun Dafa sect uses the movie as a lesson in spiritual advancement.

*** end quote ***

No secret this is my “favoritetist”movie.

The more the story unwound, the more engulfed I became.

I can see how it “grabbed” others.

HEROIC: This Man has Rescued Nearly 2,500 From Sex Traffickers

At 17, This Man Adopted A Prostitute’s Kids And Today He Has Rescued Nearly 2,500 From Sex Traffickers

*** begin quote ***

When Ajeet was 17 years old and still in college, he was attending a cousin’s party that had a dancer, a “nautch girl”, performing for the guests. Historically, nautch was a popular court dance performed by girls in India that symbolized grace and elegance. Before that, it was a devotional dance performed in temples for spiritual reasons only.

“I felt really bad about the way people were behaving towards her,” Ajeet said at the Thomson Reuters Foundation Trust Conference on modern slavery. “I waited for the whole night until I could talk to her.”

However, nautch girls nowadays are shunned as prostitutes. And guests were treating this dancer as one. Ajeet felt bad about the way they were behaving towards her, so he waited the entire night to talk to her in hopes of helping her get out of such a life. He eventually found out that she was a mother of three, making Ajeet want to help them even more.

He also learned that she had 3 kids and wanting to help, he decided to adopt and raise them

When I read Bored Panda, I think “funny stuff”.  Here a human interest story as a change of pace.

Like the stories about those who risked their lives to save Jews from Hitler, I have a pretty strict definition of “hero”.

This fellow fits in.

(I have to believe that the sex traffickers were too happy with him messing up the “business model” and they may have taken action to stop him from his activities and exposing their actions to some “sunshine”!)

I’m not sure I could even be such a hero, but I can recognize what he’s done.

GUNS: CA Sheriff Took The Fifth In Grand Jury Probe Over Carry Permits

Sunday, August 30, 2020

Sheriff Smith is ultimately the sole person with the authority to approve concealed carry applications in Santa Clara County. It’s not unreasonable for the average person to wonder if Sheriff Smith had any involvement in the pay-to-carry scheme, given that third party committees supporting her re-election campaign were the primary beneficiaries of the bribes. Invoking the Fifth Amendment may have been sound legal advice in a court of law, but in the court of public opinion, it’s sure to raise even more questions than the ones she’s so far refused to answer.
