The Coming Blue State Tax Revolt
Rich Karlgaard 08.13.07, 12:00 AM ET

*** begin quote ***

Markets decide house prices. People decide tax rates. I have a hunch we’ll see a Blue State tax revolt soon.

*** end quote ***

Everyone should be revolting about taxes. It’s the producers versus the takers. No one should be getting a “free ride”. I’ll decide about charity. No some politician with my money. And certainly not some faceless bureaucrat.

RANT: Edwards: “They want to shut me up” Yup, I do!

Edwards: “They want to shut me up”

*** begin quote ***

This stuff’s not an accident. Nobody in this room should think this is an accident. You know, I’m out there speaking up for universal healthcare, ending this war in Iraq, speaking up for the poor. They want to shut me up. That’s what this is about. “Let’s distract from people who don’t have health care coverage. Let’s distract from people who can’t feed their children…. Let’s talk about this silly frivolous nothing stuff so that America won’t pay attention.”

They will never silence me. Never.

If we don’t stand up to these people, if we don’t fight em, if we don’t beat them, they’re going to continue to control this country. Thye’re going to control the media. They’re going to control what’s being said. They do not want to hear us talking about health care for everybody.

*** end quote ***

“Universalhealthcare”!?!

Please a tax funded boobdoggle (Not just an ordinary boodoggle! This appeals to boobs who can’t see the “barbara streisand” he’s peddling!) boon to the medical establishment, gooferment bureaucrats of all shapes ‘n’ sizes, and the trial lawyers.

The Soviet Union demonstrated how well <insert favorite service> can be delivered by the gooferment. Examine how well the Post Office delivers mail. Is the VA the exemplar of how the gooferment will provide you health care. We already have working examples about how everyday health care will be delivered by the gooferment — Medicare and Medicaid. We already have examples of “universal healthcare” Canada, England, and Australia.

No, “universal healthcare” is an attempt by the politicians, who created the problem with various laws, to convince us to let them “solve” it.

Shut up and sit down, Senator.

You’ve contributed to the mess, voted for the war, and gotten some expensive hair cuts.

You are a joke. Time for you to get a real job.

RANT: Why I support Ron Paul

Thursday, July 26, 2007

Why Dr Ron Paul?

• He has never voted to raise taxes.
• He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
• He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
• He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
• He has never taken a government-paid junket.
• He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
• He voted against the Patriot Act.
• He voted against regulating the Internet.
• He voted against the Iraq war.
• He opposed the Federal Reserve.

And, he speaks from his heart and doesn’t change his position based on this poll or that.

On Base, a Plea to Give Each Death Its Due
By WILLIAM YARDLEY

“We owe them the highest gratitude a nation can give,” Lt. Col. John Pettit, a chaplain, said at a memorial service in July for two soldiers. Sgt. Joel A. Dahl and Cpl. Victor A. Garcia were killed by small-arms fire in Iraq.

No, we owe them a giant apology. We have the duty of getting their mates out of the danger zone asap. The politicians led us down another rat hole and we ought not take another casualty in a political blunder of mammouth proportions. We allowed them to not follow the Constitution and they died as a result.

RANT: Pressure for higher taxes on rich

Globalisation backlash in rich nations
Pressure for higher taxes on rich
By Chris Giles in London
Published: July 22 2007 18:11 | Last updated: July 22 2007 18:11

*** begin quote ***

A popular backlash against globalisation and the leaders of the world’s largest companies is sweeping all rich countries, an FT/Harris poll shows.

Large majorities of people in the US and in Europe want higher taxation for the rich and even pay caps for corporate executives to counter what they believe are unjustified rewards and the negative effects of globalisation.

Viewing globalisation as an overwhelmingly negative force, citizens of rich countries are looking to governments to cushion the blows they perceive have come from the liberalisation of their economies to trade with emerging countries.

*** end quote ***

And, that strategy always works so well.

One of these days, the poor will learn that the rich didn’t get that way by being stupid. The truly rich don’t advertise their wealth and take steps to shelter it from confiscation. So, you’ll never really get “them”. All that happens is that the poor get a shot to the foot.

***Begin Quote***

… … died July 16, 2007 in New York. He was 64.

***End Quote***

SO he paid the ultimate “social security tax”. Argh. He paid into one of the most unfair Ponzi scams imaginable. If an Insurance Company offered you such a policy, the executives would all be in jail for theft. Or at least on the various nightly news shows, like “Shame on You”.

For a per centage of your life time earnings,

(Now doesn’t that sound like something you’d expect hear in a movie sequence of a Mafia shakedown?)

you get a modest lifetime disability protection,

(If you are willing to hire a lawyer and spend a lot of money getting it.)

and a less than adequate retirement income

(And they now say social security was never intended to live on … … “barbara streisand”)

that you have to pay taxes on

(That they “promised” would never be taxed … … double “barbara streisand”)

and represents the biggest savings of a poor person’s life

(Economist generally agree it’s a wealth transfer from poor minority men to rich white women!)

that’s ends with no benefit when you die.

(The ultimate in theft!)

Economist generally concede that the most optimistic look at “Social Security Insurance” is that it is a negative 1 to 2 % savings.

In my fellow alumni’s case, it’s nothing but a tax.

What a losing bet!

“Social Security Insurance” is a socialist program that is an absolute disgrace.

At least the gooferment should have the honesty to stop calling it “insurance”.

Argh!

RANT: currency should be backed by a commodity

Author: Ace Duggery
Comment: I want everyone that thinks the United States currency should be backed by a commodity to check the historical prices of gold and silver. The volatility of these commodities is high, so much higher than the dollar that it makes me laugh to listen to your arguments. If our currency was backed by a commodity, you would be complaining about that too.

*** end quote ***

I think “Ace” that you are missing the point. (And, I think it says something when people need to use an alter ego.)

It really doesn’t matter if it’s backed by a commodity or backed by something like tiki statues on Easter Island. With a non-fiat currency, the gooferment can NOT impose an “inflation tax” on all holders of “money”.

Gooferment wants to have social program, they can’t just print more but have to impose a tax. Gooferment wants to fight a war, they can’t just print more and have to impose a tax.

We want a commodity as money because the gooferment can’t wave it’s magic printing press and make more. Remember that greenbacks were originally redeemable in gold and silver. So the scrap of paper was really a receipt. Since 1970, the value of a dollar as depreciated 95% due to inflation. That’s a hell of a tax! If they tried to impose such, they have been lynched.

Inflation did it silently for them politicians. A commodity money would have prevented that, and made us all wealthier.

America’s schools aren’t failing, Gatto discovered. They’re doing precisely what they were re-designed to do between the 1850s and the early 1900s, when America embarked on our current imperial/mercantilist adventure — that is, to churn out little soldiers and factory workers with mindless obedience drilled in and with the higher critical faculties burned out of them through the process of feeding them learning in small unrelated bits like pre-digested gruel, till they neither know how nor feel any inclination to discern higher patterns, which might lead them to challenge the “party line.”

Who dreamed up such a system?

John Dewey and Horace Mann brought this form of “compulsion schooling” home from Prussia, Gatto learned.

My argument would be “involuntary servitude”.

From the Thirteenth Amendment: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

I can not be compelled to serve on a jury!

U.S. leg of Live Earth hits key notes
BY GLENN GAMBOA
July 8, 2007

*** begin quote ***

However, Etheridge aside, it was nonmusicians at this concert who made the most passionate pleas about demanding action for the environment. “Get rid of all these rotten politicians that we have in Washington, who are nothing more than corporate toadies,” said Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the environmentalist author, president of Waterkeeper Alliance and Robert F. Kennedy’s son, who grew hoarse from shouting. “This is treason. And we need to start treating them as traitors.”

*** end quote ***

Sorry, but I don’t buy it. Global warming, action on “the environment”, and more force applied to people.

You, sir, are a poltroon. Attempting to manipulate the mob into a frenzy. By your name, you have been born into a clan that seeks to lead the people. And, if they won’t be led, then they will be frightened. And, if they still won’t be led, then they will be forced by the guns of gooferment.

A crass solution at best. Heavy handed at worst.

The Kings of France used force to oppress the people. The people rose up instigated by “leaders”. The French nobility was fed to the guillotine. And, when the “leaders” couldn’t do better, they too were fed to the guillotine. Eventually the mob was ruled by a tyrant.

Force begets force.

I often blog that the hallmark of a bad idea is when you have to force people to do it.

In the madness of crowds, we see people do all sorts of absurd things. Their paradigms (i.e., how they see things) and their memes (i.e., the concepts they have) are flawed. The Egyptians had no zero. The Romans no numerals. The Chinese no alphabet.

Over time, with a great deal of pain, bloodshed, and sorrow, we have found that freedom and liberty “unlock the atom” of human ability.

Conversely, there is no way to force a human to do what they want. They can be a stubborn as the most uncooperative donkey. More dangerous than a spitting camel. And more treacherous than any other animal known. You may beat them into submission, you may force them into submission, you may tax their meager possessions. But be careful, you’d be better off killing them. Because when you push them over that imaginary line, when they have nothing left, or you’ve rendered the ultimate insult, then you will have no other course but to kill them. And, you best do it quickly. Like a wounded bear, you don’t want to have to track them down. They can turn in an instant. With lightening quickness, the strength of a Hercules, and the merciless ness of Attila the Hun.

And, you’ll have deserved every iota. Because you initiated force. Like begets like.

Now I disagree that we have rotten politicians. We have the best politicians that money can buy. And, who put us on this path, your figurative and literal progenitors. Who promised the mob something for nothing to vote your ilk into office.

See government is a meme. And a dangerous one at that. It only exists in the people’s mind. And, once they change their minds and see you and your ilk for what you are — aggressors — you’ll never be able to hide again.

So what exactly are these traitors betraying?

Till you can mount an indictment, this is just playing to the mob.

Yeah, research how much purchasing power the dollar has lost between any two decades. (The answer lots; in the neighborhood of 20%!)

Yeah, research how “drug prohibition” hasn’t wound up EXACTLY like “alcohol prohibition” in the 1920s. (Answer exactly like; right down to the rival gangs shooting everything in sight over turf!)

Yeah, research how much “dumber” the American children are compared to the rest of the world due to gooferment education. Hint: where do politicians send their kids to school? (Answer, we are somewhere between below the average to bottom; socialist big gooferment eddycation works exactly as designed to produce workers for the elite to lead.)

Yes, so do lots of “research”, “stand firm”, as we go down the collective toilet.

New Jersey governor signs toughest U.S. carbon law
Sat Jul 7, 2007 5:13PM EDT
By Timothy Gardner

*** begin quote ***

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Reuters) – New Jersey became on Friday the first U.S. state to mandate sharp greenhouse gas reductions by 2050 to help fight climate change.

The law, signed by Gov. Jon Corzine, a Democrat, makes New Jersey the latest state to bypass the Bush administration by setting mandatory regulations to fight emissions of gases that scientists link to global warming.

“We want to send a message to Washington. Wake up, get with the program and start doing something about greenhouse gases,” Corzine told reporters at Giants Stadium on the eve of former Vice President Al Gore’s international Live Earth concerts.

***AND***

The New Jersey Business and Industry Association opposes the law, saying it would raise fees and give sweeping powers to state agencies.

The law also seeks to deal with emissions from vehicles, the largest source of the emissions in New Jersey, by enhancing public transportation, car-pooling and the shipping of goods by rail instead of truck.

But even environmentalists said the effort would be a tough fight as renewable energy currently only provides a tiny portion of the state’s power.

“We need to be careful of congratulating ourselves on this legislation because the hard work is yet to be done,” said Doug O’Malley, the field director for Environment New Jersey, a green group that helped form the law.

*** end quote ***

OK here’s my prediction. It will have the opposite effect. Whenever the gooferment gets in front of some parade or other, it leads us “off the proverbial cliff”.

So where is the construction of kool cool nuclear plants?

I’ll be watching for all the state cars that go 55 to save gas! Hypocrites. Did you notice how many clebs jet setted to the save the earth concerts. And, the politicians aren’t giving up anything.

But we can all pay higher taxes and spend more for less. That’s OK. For us little serfs!

RANT: Excluding Ron Paul!

Thursday, June 21, 2007

FROM MY EMAIL

*** begin quote ***

Dear Mr. Failor and Mr. Sheffler,

I am amazed at this report. I can’t understand why you would exclude the only candidate from either party that will give us true tax relief, allow everyone the Freedom of Religion that we are being deprived of by the encroaching federal gooferment, and in general shake up the national debate by urging a return to constitutional. I am outraged that you would seek to marginalize “my candidate”. Yes, my candidate. For the first time since Ron Regan, I have sent some modest sums to the Ron Paul campaign because I believe he’s the best candidate I’ve seen since Regan. If you parade a bunch of “stuffed suits” that are all big gooferment clones, then you will lose any credibility that you really want “Tax Relief” or “Freedom of Religion”.

I am forwarding this to every networking contact, fellow alumni, and relative in Iowa. I hope they help you understand how important it is for you to invite Ron Paul. Or, if you persist and don’t, that they understand which organization are “phony labels” and which are really trying to live up to their name.

Ron Paul Excluded in Iowa

June 19, 2007

Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance will host a presidential candidates forum on Saturday, June 30th in Des Moines. Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Sam Brownback, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, Tommy Thompson, and Tom Tancredo will participate.

Ron Paul, however, will not participate. Why? Because he wasn’t invited.

We heard about this forum from numerous supporters in Iowa who asked why Dr. Paul was not going to participate. Those supporters assumed that Dr. Paul was invited.

The campaign office had not received an invitation so we called this morning; thinking we might have misplaced the invitation or simply overlooked it. Lew Moore, our campaign manager, called Mr. Edward Failor, an officer of Iowans for Tax Relief, to ask about it. To our shock, Mr. Failor told us Dr. Paul was not invited; he was not going to be invited; and he would not be allowed to participate. And when asked why, Mr. Failor refused to explain. The call ended.

Lew then called Mr. Steve Sheffler, president of the Iowa Christian Alliance, to talk with him. Mr. Sheffler did not answer so Lew left a message. He has yet to respond.

Why are the Iowans for Tax Relief and the Iowa Christian Alliance excluding the one Republican candidate who scored at the top of every online poll taken after the MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN debates? Why are they denying Iowans the opportunity to hear from the Republican presidential candidate whose popularity is growing by the day?

We couldn’t get answers to these questions from Messrs. Failor and Sheffler. Maybe you’ll have better luck. Their contact information is below.

It’s ironic that on the same day we learned the Iowans for Tax Relief and the Iowa Christian Alliance excluded Dr. Paul from their candidates forum, we received a call from ABC News confirming Dr. Paul’s participation in its nationally broadcast August 5th debate to be held in Des Moines.

RANT: FPOMT (Five Plus Or Minus Two)

Friday, June 15, 2007

Based on psychological research that I can’t cite off the top of my head, the human mind has some hard coded programming limitations. If you have a list with less than three items, then the mind tends to dismiss it as “undifferentiated”. If you have list with more than seven items, then the mind tends to dismiss it as “too complex”.

The study came out a study of the Roman Legions which originally was based on ten. Hence the name centurion for a hundred men. Ten cohorts of ten. However, rather quickly, early in Roman history, it got redefined to 8 (a leader and seven soldiers). From that, these smart guys tumble to the hard coded programming in the brain.

After reading that, I began to focus on the rule of thumb “five plus or minus two”. In resume lists, I look for an optimum of five. No fewer than three. No more than seven. Out side of those bounds, the recruiter’s brain glazes over.

So after, I was infected with this meme, I told one turkey to try it. In the alternative form we were trying, the resume only had three sections — objective, selected work accomplishments, and education. It only put down his last three jobs with five bullets each. The resume imho looked “sparse”. We ran two different tests. 80 targets. Testing against his chronological and functional resume that he was using with what we thought was good response rates. The sparse one scored a solid 50% response rate. Far exceeding all my preconceived notions.

After that I was a believer in FPMT!

Note: In morphing this from a turkey’s email, I think that there’s a follow up that says the max size of a business unit should be 150. I’ll have to be on the look out for all that back up material.

After all, no one should believe me, whadda I know, I’m just an ingineer!

It’s a fake email address. So what is the purpose? Annoy the blogging community. It certainly would engender warm and fuzzy feelings. Maybe this isn’t support but sabotage?

Couple of thoughts.

(1) Most bloggers have wordpressdotcom set to “one than one url” is spam. So this comment might have gotten swept into the spam bucket on most blogs. It was on mine. But I rescued it.

[I read the spam. I am fascinated about all these nice people. My friends in Nigeria want to give me missions. Sexy Cat wants to spend the night with me alone in my room; Frau Reinke vetoed that. And, so many people want to enlarge my breasts it’s stunning.]

(2) Most bloggers don’t like strange email addresses. I use v2y2r0n27rhj6y at my isp for networking to prevent spam. So it get me in trouble with some as well.

So if the writer was trying to “help” Ron Paul, his effort may be invisible, ineffective, and inefficient.

But what do I know, I’m just an injineer.

BTW I’m a Ron Paul supporter and contributor. And, have been for a while.

RANT: Pelosi and Clinton are corrupt. What a surprise. Like the others are any better.

Dick Morris in his ezine reports:

*** begin quote ***

Newsmax.com disclosed that in February, shortly after his mother became the first woman speaker, Paul Pelosi Jr., was hired by InfoUSA for $180,000 a year as its vice president for Strategic Planning.

INFOUSA has been selling address lists to con artists who prey on the elderly. Dick knifes the Clintons as well with this accusation. And, who knows them better?

It brings up the larger question of who prosecutes the Speaker of the House? And, the neither party shares any sense of embarrassment at be caught with their hand in the cookie jar!

RANT: Socialist agendas have considerable appeal, but they produce disaster

Compassion Versus Reality
By Walter E. Williams
Wednesday, June 6, 2007

*** begin quote ***

He pointed out that liberals succeed in duping the public because they are so clever with words that they give the appearance of compassion. Liberals talk about the need for “affordable” housing and health care. They tarnish their enemies with terms such as “price-gouging” and “corporate greed.” Uninformed and unthinking Americans fall easy prey to this demagoguery.

Politicians exploit public demands that government ought to do something about this or that problem by taking measures giving them greater control over our lives. For the most part, whatever politicians do, whether it’s rent controls to produce “affordable” housing, or price controls to eliminate “price-gouging,” the result is a calamity worse than the original problem. For example, two of the most costly housing markets are the rent-controlled cities of San Francisco and New York. If you’re over 40, you’ll remember the chaos produced by the gasoline price controls of the 1970s. Socialist agendas have considerable appeal, but they produce disaster, and the more socialist they are, the greater the disaster.

*** end quote ***

Williams is sure on his game this week.

I’m over 40, and wow do I remember the gas lines. I was working and driving from Bayonne to Piscataway every day. My car had even plates and my brother in law had odd. Everyday we switch cars and Frau Reinke would go wait in a gas line. Argh! Remember. I remember the compete and utter chaos.

Give me the free market anytime!

No greedy corporation could inflict such pain. Only the gooferment could!

HILLARY CLINTON DEFENDS USE OF CORPORATE JET FOR FAMILY VACATIONS
By Dick Morris Reports <dickmorrisreports@dickmorris.com>

*** begin quote ***

On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton was challenged by the press about the Clinton family’s acceptance of more than $900,000 in free private travel from Infousa, a company linked to scamming the elderly.

Her reply? She said that she had complied with all Senate ethics rules and reimbursed the company for the amount of a first class air ticket — usually about 1 percent of the cost of the luxurious private jet travel. According to Hillary, “Those were the rules. You’ll have to ask someone else if it’s good policy.”

In other words, get lost.

*** end quote ***

I agree with Dick. Hilary just doesn’t get it. For a supposedly smart woman, she’s tone deaf in what the public perception is. As a kid the good nuns used to say, “behave, as if you were going to have to tell your mother what you did”. Good advice that has served me well. They say conscience is what you do when you think no one is watching. In this case, Hilary’s doing anything she thinks she can. She may well believe the story she’s telling. It’s sad. The “elite” think themselves above the rules that they force others to follow.

Argh!
