New Jersey Physician Charged With Five Others For Running Prescription Drug Ring
A suspended Middletown physician was busted along with five others for selling forged Oxycodone prescriptions for $300 to $400, police say.

Detectives have dismantled a prescription drug ring run by a suspended physician Thursday night following a monthlong investigation, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Six people were arrested for their respective roles in a prescription drug ring, including Dr. Kenneth Lewandowski, 51, of Tatum Drive in Middletown, who is charged with six counts of third degree Conspiracy, six counts of third degree Forgery and the Unlawful Practice of Medicine – a third degree crime.

*** and ***

“Drug addiction is a menace to our society. The Middletown Police Department remains firmly committed to working closely with our law enforcement partners to apprehend and prosecute anyone involved in illegal drug sales. This case is a great example of how law enforcement is working together to address this deadly issue,” said Middletown Police Chief R. Craig Weber.

*** and ***

“We cannot fail to recognize that drug dealers don’t just hang out on street corners or in parking lots. Sometimes drug dealers wear familiar uniforms, have specialized degrees and they live and work within our communities,” Gramiccioni added. “Our preconceived stereotypes are challenged when a trained physician turns his back on his duty to save lives so he can rake in cash at the expense of others enslaved by these drugs.”

*** end quote ***

Don’t buy into the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs”?

All the force that the Gooferment has applied to this “problem” and the Unintended Consequences are the real problem.

With all the “laws”, diktats, and regulations haven’t budge the rate of addiction.

And the prisons are filled with “offenders”.

Time to recognize that Prohibition didn’t work for booze and it’s not working against certain drugs.

Sad that in the Gooferment Skrules it’s easier to get Marijuana than booze.

All this does is make it “cool”.

And very dangerous.

Let’s turn from the meme of “force” and “prohibition” to the meme of it’s a “medical problem”.

In the meantime, let Walmart be our weapon against the illegal drug dealers who kill the unfortunate addicts. It’s rumored that if there was a free market in drugs, that the junk would be cheaper than aspirin. And a lot safer.

Envision that an addict could be a burger flipper and afford his addiction.

And, we could shift the budget from “enforcement” to “treatment”.

Laissez-faire is an economic system in which transactions between private parties are free from intrusive government restrictions, tariffs, and subsidies, with only enough regulations to protect property rights.

Want to kick the habit? Then there are resources available. Don’t want to? Make it cheap and safe for an addict to indulge.

It’s immoral to coerce people to behave the way the Gooferment thinks is “good for them”.

Argh!

Time to end the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs”!

Ending The Invisibility Of Homelessness
by Kevin F. Adler

*** begin quote ***

Last night in San Francisco, 6436 of our neighbors slept on the streets or in shelters.

The lack of affordable, safe, and supportive housing is a scourge on society. It costs $90K to maintain a human being on the streets for a year, compared to $18K to provide supportive housing to a previously homeless person. Over the last 10 years, an influx of 75,000 people have moved to San Francisco, while only 17,000 new housing units have been built.

We can end chronic homelessness by 2020 by providing affordable, safe, and supportive housing options to the homeless and by electing representatives who will fight for housing as a basic human need.

But providing support means understanding that the needs of the homeless extend beyond housing.

*** end quote ***

I empathize with the plight, and I blame the Gooferment for it.

Between “rent control”, zoning, and welfare, the Gooferment has created the problem.

Add to that the deinstitutionalizing of vast numbers of the mentally ill and breaking the promise to provide “community support”, Gooferment made the problem worse.

Throw in the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs” and the mess is complete.

Gooferment drove out the “charity” in our hearts by taking over and providing the “safety net”, which is more like a trap.

Argh!

Separation of Charity and State is the answer. That and rolling back the diktats of the State that make house unaffordable.

In word, the Gooferment isn’t helping.

“Americans don’t torture people,” My uncle and grandmother explained, something that, sadly, couldn’t truthfully be said of us today.

*** and ***

The third excuse is pure, epistemological silliness: that you can obtain useful information by systematically mistreating people. They may hold out for a while, but eventually they’ll break down and tell you exactly what they think you want to hear. I know that I certainly would. And our many “successes” in Aghanistan illustrate that pretty well. The government, to my knowledge, has never offered an example of torture saving the day—and there are so many unanswered questions about the killing of Osama bin Laden, it is too contaminated for such use.

I was brought up by my mother and father believing that only the bad guys torture people. The Spanish Inquisition, Italian fascisti, the Nazi German Gestapo, Darth Vader threatening Princess Leia with a floating torture machine. And guess what, Rush. My mom and dad were right.

We’re the bad guys.

Beware the New Airport ATM Scam
December 9, 2014 12:26 pm by Ed Perkins

*** begin quote ***

A representative of the Civil Aviation Authority, the agency that monitors consumer issues in air travel in Britain, told me that the retail foreign exchange folks have cut deals with airport management to oust the real banks and give retail foreign exchange outfits a monopoly, for which privilege they pay fat fees to the airports. A representative of ABTA, the association of travel agents and tour operators and U.K. equivalent of ASTA, summed it up by saying, “The worst place to exchange currency is at an airport.” This consumer issue hasn’t loomed large on the British scene because locals can, in fact, withdraw pounds with no fees; the practice hits only visitors.

Dear Mr. Reinke:

Thank you for contacting me about H.R. 1831, the Read the Bills Act. I appreciate hearing from you.

On May 6, 2013 Representative Kerry Bentivolio introduced H.R. 1831, legislation to require Congress to post potential bills online for a minimum of seven days before voting for passage of them. In addition, all legislation would have to be voted on by a roll call vote.

H.R. 1831 has been referred to the House Judiciary and Rules Committees. Please be assured that my staff and I closely review legislation that comes before the Senate. I will be sure to keep your views on this important issue in mind.

Again, thank you for contacting me.

When the head of the CIA’s torture unit decided to destroy videotapes of his team’s horrific work, he unwittingly set in motion a series of events that led to the release this week of the most massive, detailed documentation of unlawful behavior by high-ranking government officials and intentional infliction of pain on noncombatants by the United States government since the Civil War era. Here is the backstory.

*** and ***

What should we make of this report on government torture? In a free society in which the government works for us, we have a right to know what it is doing in our names, and we have a reasonable expectation that the laws the government enforces against us it will enforce against itself. But don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

Obama Lawless Amnesty Costs Exposed – Congress AWOL?

*** begin quote ***

Despite all the budgetary pressure impacting vital programs of importance to the American people, the Obama administration apparently feels there’s still plenty of money to go around for illegal aliens. That’s what we learned back on September 9, 2014 when we obtained documents from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that showed the Obama Administration paid Baptist Children and Family Services (BCFS) $182,129,786 to provide “basic shelter care” to 2,400 “unaccompanied alien children” (UAC) for four months in 2014. The BCFS budget included charges for $104,215,608 for UACs at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and an additional $77,914,178 for UACs at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

These documents were obtained in response to an August 1, 2014, Freedom of Information Act request seeking BCFS applications for funding, correspondence between the HHS Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and BCFS, and correspondence within ACF relating to BCFS. The records we received include the “Budget Information and Project Narrative portions of the BCFS applications funded in calendar 2014” for both the Ft. Sill and the Lackland AFB facilities.

Retirement funds for Illinois and California hold 75% risky investments. The Texas teachers’ plan: 81%.

*** begin quote ***

Managers of government pension plans counter that they have longer investment horizons and can take greater risks. But most financial economists believe that the risks of stock investments grow, not shrink, with time. Moreover, while governments may exist forever, pensions cannot take forever to pay off their losses: New accounting rules promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and taking effect this year will push plans to amortize unfunded liabilities over roughly 15 years. Even without these rules, volatile pension investments translate into volatile contribution requirements that can and have destabilized government budgets.

*** end quote ***

FROM FACEBOOK by O’Connell, Bill (MC1976)

The real solution is to do away with defined benefit pension plans and replace them with defined contribution plans. That way when the individual leaves an organization, he takes with him all that has been contributed on his behalf and the relationship with the organization ends. No more actuarial headaches calculating how long someone will live, how to invest pension contributions to match that, no more shorting the contributions this year with the intent of making it up in the future. Every year should stand on its own. You work, you get a contribution to your retirement; done.

An Armed Society is a Riotless Society
By Jack Perry
November 28, 2014

*** begin quote ***

So, when Ferguson got the grand jury ruling they didn’t like, they showed how interested they were in justice by burning down the businesses of people that had nothing at all to do with it. Meanwhile, in the State of Arizona, people showed their solidarity with Ferguson by going to bed. While other major cities held protests, some of which ended up with minor looting, Arizona just did what Arizona does: Conducted business as usual. There was one small protest of about 60 people down in Tempe, close to Phoenix. They argued among themselves, broke into two groups, but then gave up and went home. The next day, businesses were fearlessly open as usual, people were buying early Christmas presents, people were getting ready for Thanksgiving and getting their turkeys. Hmmm…weren’t Phoenix and Tucson two of the major cities that all the Ferguson “direct action” groups listed as scenes of protest? Yet, both these cities pretty much ignored the call to action, as did the entire state. What happened?

*** and ***

It’s the individual armed citizen. People here work hard to build businesses. They put their lives into them and they’re not going to step aside and let someone torch their dreams in an agitator-sponsored temper tantrum and looting-fest masquerading as “outrage”. People here defend themselves, have the weapons to do so, and laws that make it possible. Rioters might make it past the Warlord of Phoenix, if they’re lucky. They might defy the Shogun of Arizona. But they will not make it past the armed citizens defending their homes and businesses. Everyone here knows this. They know a huge riot would become a mass suicide mission for the rioters. Protests happen and everyone is fine with that. But everyone knows there is a line that cannot be crossed—or else. Because it will not be tolerated and people won’t cower and wait for the government to save them. They will save themselves.

BELTWAY CONFIDENTIAL: LAW
New DHS immigration rules: Drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, gun offenders not top deportation priorities
BY BYRON YORK | NOVEMBER 22, 2014 | 8:49 AM

*** begin quote ***

The Department of Homeland Security has just released new “Policies for the Apprehension, Detention, and Removal of Undocumented Immigrants.” Designed to fill in the details after President Obama’s announcement that at least four million currently illegal immigrants will be given work permits, Social Security numbers and protection from deportation, the DHS guidelines are instructions for the nation’s immigration and border security officers as they administer the president’s directive.

The new priorities are striking. On the tough side, the president wants U.S. immigration authorities to go after terrorists, felons, and new illegal border crossers. On the not-so-tough side, the administration views convicted drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, and gun offenders as second-level enforcement priorities. An illegal immigrant could spend up to a year in prison for a violent crime and still not be a top removal priority for the Obama administration.

Charlestown’s city council has declared the entire neighborhood of Pleasant Ridge — where some families have owned homes for more than 40 years — “blighted.” By using that term, it can throw out the mostly working class residents and tear down their homes to make way for new retail and residential development.

POLITICAL: Separate Health Insurance from employment

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

On a slightly different note, while I think Obamacare is a giant FAIL on so many points, I do think that it demonstrates the need to end associating medical insurance with one’s employment.

Car Insurance should be the model. You don’t lose your car insurance if you change jobs.

Let WalMart, Credit Unions, Fraternal Organizations sell Group Medical Insurance.

Just like Life Insurance!

Did you know that the Knights of Columbus invented Life Insurance for the poor working men. And, it took off like wildfire. My maternal great grandmother, a Protestant, bought in for her brothers by claiming they were Catholic. Until Met Life came along with a better rate. (Laugh!)

Obamacare may have given us lemons, but we can make lemonade out of it.

WHEN DEMOCRATS LOSE ELECTIONS THE MEDIA PUSH TO ANNIHILATE THE CONSTITUTION
John Nolte on Twitter @NolteNC

*** begin quote ***

The people behind Vox.com and the New York Times are not dumb. They understand perfectly that the framers of our Constitution knew what they were doing, which was putting in place a system to actively encourage gridlock and to discourage exactly what it is the elite media want: less democracy and more power in the hands of a central government, the president, and America’s elite (like the media).
This 4 year proposal would also greatly diminish the power of the states. Elections would be driven more by national concerns than local ones. Sorry Democrats, but it is vitally important to the health of our democracy that local politics have a profound effect on national policy.

*** end quote ***

I have some ideas to propose:

* No one can stand for election without having sat out a year from any political office. (It works for the poor college athlete who transfers scruples; why not for politicains?)

* Repeal the Seventeenth and return power to the States.

* Federal elections on even years; state elections on odd years.

* Election Day is April 16th!

* Eliminate elections. If all politics are local, I should elect my “block captain”. Then everything cascades upwards.

* Campaigns are responsible for ALL advertisements. And, only contributions from real people to be represented can be accepted. (If you’re running for a Nevada seat, you can only take contributions from real Nevadans.)

* Any campaign contribution “left over” is returned to the taxpayers’ of the district. (Or used to reduce the National Debt?)

* Term limits seems obvious!

* All party affiliations MUST be declare in ANY advertisement.

* If you do have corporate sponsors, then you must wear their logo at all times like NASCAR.

* All Incumbents are listed on the ballot in RED with an ASTERIX as the BOTTOM choice.

* All races have run offs unless the winner gets ¾ of the registered voters.

* NOTA (None of the above) is a negative vote for ALL candidates.

* A weighted ranking voting system (aka instant run off system) should be implemented — rank your choices from top to bottom and there’s never a “wasted vote”.

* ALSO voter id goes without saying — if India, Afghanistan, and other “Third World Countries” can do, then why can’t we?

And that’s just for starters!

The Trump Card to Rig Elections
By Robert Willmann, Jr.
November 4, 2014

*** begin quote ***

The foundation for assuring the integrity of any system is auditing and cross-checking. For electronic voting machines, what about audits and recounts? The U.S. Congress put this in Title Three of HAVA, with its warm and reassuring caption, “Uniform and Nondiscriminatory Election Technology and Administration Requirements” –

“[Section 301(a)(2)]. Audit Capacity.

(A) In General. The voting system shall produce a record with an audit capacity for such system.

(B) Manual Audit Capacity.

(i) The voting system shall produce a permanent paper record with a manual audit capacity for such system.

(ii) The voting system shall provide the voter with an opportunity to change the ballot or correct any error before the permanent paper record is produced.

(iii) The paper record produced under subparagraph (A) shall be available as an official record for any recount conducted with respect to any election in which the system is used.” [1]

Read that carefully several times. A decent, trusting American might think that a paper ballot with the voter’s selections will be printed out, the voter will check it to be sure it matches what was selected on the electronic voting machine, and each ballot printed out will be kept by the election department so that a hand recount can be done to check the electronic results. But does it say that?

Notice the cunning wording. The “audit capacity” is for “such system” and not for each individual voter’s ballot. The paper record is for the whole system, meaning the vote totals as created by the electronic voting machines and tabulating computers. You get a printout of the computer’s totals. You do not get a printout of each ballot verified by each voter, to be saved locally for a real recount.

*** and ***

But hoping to use one of their two independent powers, people turning to the ballot box face the ultimate trump card.  Electronic voting machines.

Voters no longer mark their ballots.  Local election officials no longer count them.  Devices created and programmed in secret do it.  No recount is possible. Any fraud is undetectable.

*** end quote ***

Two quotes to remember about voting and elections:

“If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.” ― Mark Twain

“Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.” — attributed to communist tyrant and mass murderer Josef Stalin

And, you expect me to “trust” the system!

Never mind that the “system” is structurally engineered to ensure that you only get to chose between large Gooferment and still larger Gooferment.

(Ross Perot was a democratic operative running to split the republican vote (again).  He was campaigning on smaller Gooferment. He was on the verge of winning. He was being so competitive that he had to self-destruct the campaign to ensure the correct result. IMMEDIATELY, the two parties agreed to “reforms” that would prevent any challenge to the duopoly.

Even now, my beloved Libertarian Party, it financed by the D’s to split the R vote. As is the Green Party, which I regard as the Communist Party in disguise, is financed by the R’s to split the D vote.

Argh!

Secession.

And a return to a truly representative republic.

On our way to a 100% voluntary society.

The deadly EV-D68 enterovirus epidemic, which struck thousands of kids this fall, was likely propelled through America by President Barack Obama’s decision to allow tens of thousands of Central Americans across the Texas border, according to a growing body of genetic and statistical evidence.

The evidence includes admissions from top health officials that the epidemic included multiple strains of the virus, and that it appeared simultaneously in multiple independent locations.

The question can be settled if federal researchers study the genetic fingerprint of the EV-D68 viruses that first hit kids in Colorado, Missouri and Illinois to see if they are close relatives to the EV-D68 viruses found in Central America.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense could make this connection.

Throw in the failure to take common sense precautions with Ebola (i.e., restrict direct flights, mandatory quarantine, a creating a real Ebola Czar — not a political hack) and these hacks in office are either stupid or corrupt.

IF my child died as a result of EV-D68, there would be no hole deep enough for these idiots to hide. I’d make it my life’s work to embarrass them. As if they had any shame.

Argh!

POLITICAL: End “foreign aid” now; completely! And not just Africa.

Africa: A Tragic Continent
By Walter E. Williams

Though there’s a strong case for us to help with the Ebola crisis, the worst thing Westerners could do to Africa would be to send more foreign aid. Foreign aid provides the financial resources that enable Africa’s grossly corrupt and incompetent regimes to buy military equipment, pay off cronies and continue to oppress their people. It also provides resources for the leaders to live lavishly and set up “retirement” accounts in foreign banks.

Anyone notice that the USA is broke?

So why should “We, The Sheeple” support borrowing money from China to send it to the Swiss bank accounts of Third World “leaders”?

Suggest that we PNG (“Personna Non Grata”) politicians and bureaucrats from these countries.

Let them stew in their own juice.

POLITICAL: No party affiliations?

Any one notice that the TV ads never mention the party that they represent?

And never mind the “Independents” who are ex-D’s and will caucus with the D’s, but they are not D’s. No!!!

POLITICAL: Addiction is a MEDICAL problem

Subject: Advisory Message: South Brunswick Police Officers Save 21-year-old man

*** begin quote ***

South Brunswick Police Officers quick actions saved the life of a 21-year-old Township man early Sunday morning. At 4:11am police received a 911 call from a man who said his friend had overdosed on heroin and was unconscious in a backyard. Officer Scott Bucca and Officer Marcus Leysath responded to the residence off Deans Lane and were directed to the backyard by the friend. They found the victim unresponsive with minimal breathing. Officers used the medicine Naloxone to prevent the heroin from slowing and stopping the victim’s breathing. The officers reported that within minutes of administering the medicine the victim began to breathe normally. The Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad and paramedics transported the victim to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment.

While any tragedy averted is good, it has to trace back to the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs”!

If all “illegal” drugs were for sale at WalMart and Walgreens, then addicts would be safe from adulteration and varying concentrations.

Addiction is a MEDICAL problem, not a LEGAL problem.

And, if “drugs” were no longer illegal, then they wouldn’t be “kool”.

Argh!

One of the reasons that USP http://www.usp.org/ was formed was to ensure safe drug standards.

So once again, Gooferment creates a problem and then “finds” a solution that requires more Gooferment!

POLITICAL: The “fruit of the poisonous tree”

Parallel Reconstruction

Nevertheless, the NSA’s agents and lawyers felt it necessary to concoct this groundless, disingenuous and fictional legal distinction in order to persuade the FISA court that it is legally acceptable to permit untethered spying so long as the fruits of that spying are not used in criminal prosecutions. Curiously and naively, judges of the FISA court bought that argument.

So, what happens when the spying uncovers ordinary criminal behavior unrelated to national security? In order to keep its hands clean, so to speak, the NSA sends that evidence to the DOJ, whose lawyers and agents in cahoots with the NSA then concoct an explanation as to how the DOJ came upon the evidence. Of course, that explanation curiously and carefully omits the mention of domestic spying. DOJ lawyers know that if the beginning of the process of obtaining evidence is found to be unconstitutional, then the evidence itself can be useless in court.

This is what lawyers and judges call the “fruit of the poisonous tree.”

*** end quote ***

This is deceptive, unlawful and unconstitutional behavior by the Executive Branch.

It undermines the “Rule of Law”.

And the fact that it was done by BOTH the R Bush and the D Obama demonstrates that there is little difference between the D’s and the R’s.

At the very least, there should be dismissals and pardons for ALL defendants who were unfairly convicted.

How This Hotel Made Sure Your Wi-Fi Hotspot Sucked
Caught by FCC for Wi-Fi jamming, Marriott’s still not sorry.

*** begin quote ***

According to the FCC, Marriott’s Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center intentionally used Wi-Fi jamming tactics on its own guests. The interference made it impossible for people to use their own personal hotspots, leaving Marriott’s costly Wi-Fi as the only other option. In response to the investigation, the hotel agreed Friday to pay a penalty of $600,000 and promised to stop its signal-blocking activities.

Sorry, but there is no excuse for this.

I’m going to write them an complain.

POLITICAL: Ebola epidemic will spread by air travel?

Sunday, October 12, 2014

http://www.offthegridnews.com/2014/10/11/4-reasons-ebola-cant-be-stopped/

*** begin quote ***

The United States and Canada are still allowing air travel from the nations of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia where the Ebola epidemic is centered.

The Ebola patient who died in Dallas, Thomas Eric Duncan, had flown from Liberia. About 150 people each day fly from those three countries to the US. South Africa and a host of other African countries have closed off flights from the three West African countries, but the United States and Canada have not.

The most likely way Ebola could spread on planes may not be from contact with passengers, but from waste on planes. Some airliners are now so filthy and unsanitary that cabin cleaners at New York’s LaGuardia Airport walked off the job, The New York Daily News reported. The cleaners are angry because of the danger of potential exposure to Ebola.

“I have to deal with vomit, feces and a lot of chemicals, without proper equipment,” cleaner Johanna Cruz told The Daily News. “They give us gloves, but they might as well be made of paper because they rip so easily.”

*** end quote ***

Sorry, but it’s just stupid to NOT shut down air travel.

And, it’s not unreasonable to quarantine travelers.

This poor soul flew while infected and did NOT show symptoms until after he was here.

POLITICAL: Switch all pension plans to defined-contribution!

A Wake-Up Call for Public Pension Systems
Jason Russell | 10/03/2014 |

*** begin quote ***

For decades, public pension systems have been doling out more than they take in. Labor unions have stymied reform efforts, but the latest estimates of the public pension gap may finally serve as a wake-up call.

A new study from Moody’s Investors Service, the bond credit rating business, reports that the level of unfunded liabilities for the 25 largest state and local U.S. public pensions is now more than $2 trillion. The gap is more than three times higher than it was just a decade ago.

*** and ***

No one wants to see pensioners live poorer lives, caused by broken promises and bankrupt pensions. The public pension system’s integrity must be protected with common-sense reforms that acknowledge the reality of the constantly growing pension gap. The ideal reform for struggling pension systems would be a switch from defined-benefit to defined-contribution pension plans.

For the various Pepuls Republiks of Nu Jerzee, Nu Jerk, Taxachusetts, Kalifornication, and Flori-Duh, it’s too late.

The Teachers Unions, the politicians, the bureaucrats, and Crony Capitalists control the Gooferment.

Best possible outcome for the poor and the taxpayers is that these “disaster zones” go broke. Like Detroit.

Withdraw your consent by leaving these “theft zones”.

Expect the worst.

Buy a mini bond, you must be out of your mind.

Even a silver coin will preserve your wealth better!
