from The Wall Street Journal

A federal consumer regulator is expected to propose Friday the first set of national standards for the mortgage-servicing industry, which has been riddled with problems in the wake of the housing bust.

Under the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s proposal, loan servicers would be required to evaluate homeowners’ applications for loan-assistance within 30 days of receiving an application and would be barred from going ahead with a foreclosure until a final decision has been reached on a borrower’s application for help.

Talk about locking the barn after the whole herd has left the building!

I can’t wait to see the details of this.

Does it “charge back” the originator with the costs. IBM used to have a commission back out program when a Customer was “lost”. Needless to say, they lost very few Customers and, when they did, a sales team exited with the Customer.

Does it set standards for downpayments, ARMs, negative amortization, and balloons? In the “old days”, home mortgages were 50% down and 5 years max. Needless to say there were few if any defaults. Compare that to the NIJA no down no income no job applications of the subprome mess. Clearly these protections should apply to the Donald Trumps. He can stand the loss, but the “little people” need to be taught the lesson.

As a little L libertarian, if I have to have Gooferment, let’s at least try to pretend it can do something.

Argh!

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Hollywood bribes the District of Corruption

10 Things Hollywood Won’t Tell You
Now playing: sequels, 3-D reruns and long ads.

6. “We scratch Washington’s back…”

Yep, even Hollywood has a lobbying arm: the Motion Picture Association of America, which spent more than $2 million wooing elected officials last year. And its positions aren’t always popular with either the public or politicians. Recently, the association, under the stewardship of former U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd, pushed for antipiracy legislation designed to keep films from being easily shared and copied online. But the bills were seen as restricting the overall use of the Internet and failed to garner support. After Congress put the legislation on hold, Dodd warned that “those who count on ‘Hollywood’ for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who’s going to stand up for them when their job is at stake.” That led some critics to charge that the MPAA was bullying legislators and prompted an online petition asking the White House to “investigate this blatant bribery.” The Obama administration declined to comment on the petition.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Drones over Amerika

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

WMAL in DC is going nuts with drones and drone sightings.

They have DOD documents that say that USAF is authorized to use them in a myriad of cases.

So has the Big Brother “Surveillance State” become a fait acompli?

Similar to one’s electronic privacy that disappeared with the introduction of the Social Security Number.

You remember that gag “Not For Identification Purposes”?

I just had to give it to the gas, electric, and cable companies to start service at my new “crash pad”.

Argh!

“We, The Sheeple” wake up.

The “third revolutionary war” is over. YOU lost.

You may know return to the modern day bread and circuses where everyone depends on a Gooferment check (and YES, that INCLUDES Social Security!) and everyone watches “reality TV” for their “life”.

Argh! Squared.

By way of a small revolt, I only have one TV in my new condo. And, that’s just a concession to guests.

It seems like every time I fart, some one in the Gooferment is noting it.

For example, my wife wasn’t even dead one day and the Social Security Admin had automagically reached into her bank account and pulled back their last social security check. (Not even pro-rated for the 26/28 days of the month that she lived.) The speed amazed everyone in the family.

So why can’t the voting rolls be purged just as quickly?

The corrupt power structure likes the mess just fine.

It’s for the same reason you have to show id to get on an airline, but not to vote.

Mad yet?

If not, joint he Tea Party. If not, go back to sleep because you’re “We, The Sheeple” and part of the problem.

See the problem is not the politicians and bureaucrats robbing us blind. We know them. We can see them! Like Madame DeFarge, we’ve marked them.

It’s “We, The Sheeple”. They are the problem. Sleepwalking through life. Oblivious to their patriotic duty to the Republic.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Yet another “bad kop” story

Special to L. Neil Smith’s The Libertarian Enterprise

This past Saturday night 21 April, a friend of mine, Ginny Cambron, was at a night club with a friend of hers. As they were leaving, another woman bumped into Ginny and began to get an attitude with her. Ginny’s friend stepped in between the two women to prevent anything from starting. As he did so, the other woman threw her drink in his face. Ginny and her friend immediately turned and left the bar to avoid any conflict. Her friend pushed the door open forcefully, which broke a plate of glass.

And so starts yet another “bad kop” story.

How many of these will “We, The Sheeple” accept?

Sorry, my “emotional tank” overflowed a long time ago.

DO I believe that every “actor” in these stories? NO!

IS every “actor” the representation of “true goodness” or “true evil”? NO!

IS this blog an evidentiary hearing to uncover the truth as best humans can? No!

This is a social commentary that WHEN the expect levels of a process are targeted at ZERO and the observed results if FAR GREATER than that zero, then this fat old white guy injineer says that the process is “Operating Outside of Acceptable Boundaries” and becomes a “MATTER REQUIRING ATTENTION”.

OK, Sheeple, what are YOU going to do about it? You’re on notice!

Remember the German Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, other “Undesirables”, and any “good people” who objected being loaded on the trains for their death camp.

For those Sheeple that object “Can’t Happen HERE!”. Have you “forgotten” the “Reservations” for the American Indians and the Japanese American Internment. Hell they have you lining up and taking off your shoes at airports. What’s next? Strip searching women. Like the XRAY machines?

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Family farms … the latest target?

Friday, May 4, 2012

http://ncc-1776.org/tle2012/tle668-20120429-03.html

The Wholesale Slaughter of America’s Family Farms
by Jonathan David Morris

*** begin quote ***

Case in point: Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and her unbridled effort to obliterate family farms.

Last August, the Department of Labor looked around, scratched its head, and decided the new thing it should focus on was applying child labor laws to agricultural settings. Offhand, you’re thinking, “Well, shouldn’t they be applied?” Well, sure. In a corporate feed lot. What we’re talking about here is the use of children on farms that those children’s families own. Put into practice, these laws will, in the words of a Department of Labor press release, prohibit children under the age of 18 from “being employed in the storing, marketing, and transporting of farm product raw materials.”

Furthermore, the laws would designate a number of farm-related places as completely off limits to children. Dangerous places like country grain elevators. And silos. And… livestock auctions?

Our country isn’t as loaded with family farms as it used to be hundreds of years ago, but such farms do, indeed, still exist, and these child labor laws would do nothing short of hurt them.

According to Secretary of Labor Solis, the reason for this move is simple. “Children employed in agriculture are some of the most vulnerable workers in America,” she says. “Ensuring their welfare is a priority of the department.” It doesn’t take a genius to know that any time the government cites the children as a reason for an action, all of us should be extraordinarily nervous.

So let’s look at what these laws would accomplish, before we determine why.

*** end quote ***

Obviously, just another payoff to “Big Something”.

By “Big Something”, just consult the Sheeple’s dictionary:

“Big Pharma”, who controls the FDA. “Big Labor”, who got the lion’s share of the GM takeover. “Big Banks” who got the bailout to loot the Treasury.

So in this example, the Big Corporate Farmers are getting a subsidy  from the taxpayer directly and indirectly. Wonder who pays for the lobbying. And, campaign contributions. Think back as to “cui bono” (i.e., who benefits) from the genius idea to put food plants into our gas tanks when a large chuck of the world’s population is starving? If you think the Consumer or the Taxpayer, then I have a bridge to sell you!

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Genocide? The result of confused policies

Obama defunds ‘snowflake babies’
Program aids in embryo adoption
By Cheryl Wetzstein – The Washington Times
Sunday, March 4, 2012

*** begin quote ***

While some observers support this move as a way to free up funds for more urgent reproductive-health concerns, supporters of embryo adoption say this is the wrong time to abandon embryos that are sometimes called “snowflake babies.”

“I think that daily we talk to people about … embryo donation and adoption, and we hear the response, ‘Really? I didn’t know that was even possible,’” said Ron Stoddart, executive director of Nightlight Christian Adoptions, which in 1997 pioneered the process of infertile couples “adopting” the extra embryos that another couple’s in-vitro fertilization process inevitably produces.

Hannah Strege, the first of these frozen, unique “snowflake” babies, was born in December 1998. Researchers think as many as 50,000 of the 600,000 cryogenically preserved embryos in the U.S. eventually could become available for adoption.

*** end quote ***

Being childless is heartbreaking.

Murdering helpless children is horrific.

The problem was setup when the decision was made to START down this path. That sets you up to have the problem of FINISHING off the journey.

We certainly can’t afford the Gooferment; so cuts are essential.

It is just pathetic that we wind up at this stupidity. Isn’t that saying “leaders lack vision and the people perish”?

I’ll drag out my favorite personal realization from the Original Adventure by Wally Crowthier. “If you kill the bird, you can’t get past the sake.” That translates to: “What if the potential person that’s killed is the next Salk who will cure cancer, the next Hawkings who will explain the Universe, or the next Mother Teresa who will comfort untold number of sufferers?”

Imagine 50,000 Jonas Salk’s or 600,000 Mother Teresa’s?

It makes me sad. I know Frau Reinke would have taken as many as she could. Sad.

This is old news, but it was news to me. Some reports are here, here, and here. Dispersion of this compound and other microorganisms were conducted in America and England without informing the public. The official rationale for these trials was that they were done to learn about germ warfare, but why the secrecy? Because people in the affected areas would have surely objected, and these areas included large cities like St. Louis, Corpus Christi, Winnipeg and Fort Wayne.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Minimum house size?

“TINY”: A (short) Documentary about Living Small
by Kent Griswold on November 27th, 2011
Guest Post by Merete Mueller, co-director and producer of the film.

*** begin quote ***

“TINY: A Story About Living Small” is a short documentary about Christopher Smith’s process of building a tiny house from scratch with no building experience in the mountains of Colorado. The film also follows the lives of other families around the country who have downsized their lives to less than 400 square feet.

*** and ***

That cabin turned into a tiny house on wheels when he learned that building codes in Park County, Colorado would require him to build a house of at least 600-square feet. He realized that a house on wheels would allow him to bypass these laws, and the more that he learned about tiny houses, the more he liked the idea of minimally impacting the land he had bought by simply parking his small home on it, instead of digging a foundation into the ground.

*** end quote ***

Doesn’t anyone else find this “absurd”?

In the era of conspicuous consumption, homelessness, and unsaleable McMansions, why not “small”?

It seems that “tiny” houses can be done for well under 100k$.

Guess this doesn’t make the tax collectors happy or the builders.

What’s wrong with youngsters going back to the land and building something they can afford?

Make me ask what is the purpose of a building code anyway? Make work for politicians and bureaucrats. Not like they stand behind their “inspections”. Just watch “Holmes on Homes” or do a project with contractors that require permits and “inspections”.

What a joke!

Except that we pay for it in so many many ways.

Couldn’t we have a “village of tiny houses” without it being a “shanty town”. Instead of “projects” or “dormitories”, tiny houses.

Homes that people can afford.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: The FDA is an absurd regulator

Saturday, November 19, 2011

from The Wall Street Journal

*** begin quote ***

The Food and Drug Administration said it was removing the approval of Roche’s drug Avastin as a breast-cancer treatment.

The agency said that there was no proof that Avastin was effective against breast cancer and that the drug carried a risk of bleeding and heart failure.

Avastin remains approved as a treatment for certain types of colon, lung, kidney and brain cancer.

The FDA should be reduced to an “advisory” role.

If a court wants an opinion, then the FDA should be a finder of scientific fact. It could “vend” opinions to courts and any citizen when asked.

Sort of like a Consumers’ Reports!

For them to make the process so expensive and time-consuming is just plain dumb.

Then, after all that, they make mistakes too.

We’d be better off without them.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Fraud will always be higher in government programs

‘Health-Care Executive’s Medicare Fraud Scheme Included Lobbying Washington’
Posted by Michael F. Cannon

*** begin quote ***

Miami health-care executive Larry Duran orchestrated one of the largest Medicare frauds in U.S. history, submitting more than $205 million in phony claims and landing a record-breaking 50-year prison sentence for his crimes.

*** and ***

The basic scheme, records show, worked like this: Duran and Valera paid up to $400,000 a month in kickbacks to assisted living centers, halfway homes and others to procure a steady stream of patients for their clinics, which claimed to be providing group mental health treatment. Doctors frequently faked records or signed off on charts without seeing any patients.

*** and ***

The basic theorem is this: market actors have greater incentives to prevent fraud, because it’s their own money on the line. Politicians are spending other people’s money, so their incentive to prevent fraud is far less. Therefore, fraud will always be higher in government programs than in similar market endeavors.

*** end quote ***

I remember back to my first encounter with “health, health insurance, and health costs”, a least the first one that I remember, was my appendix operation.

I got great care and my Mom, rest her soul, got the bill. I remember it was just a little less than $500!

A huge amount in those days.

She took some from savings, some from family, and some from her “stash”. (Depression era people ALWAYS had money stuffed somewhere in case the banks closed again.)

That bill was on the refrigerator and everyone looked at it for errors.

(Visitors tried to remember if I got the stuff that was on the bill.)

She paid the bill and assembled all the bills (i.e., hospital, doctor, drugs) and sent it to Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance.

A couple of months later, she received a check and an explanation. On the refrigerator again.

It was about 80% of what she paid.

There was a lot of conversation and some correspondence about the whole matter.

Eventually, she got another check for a little more.

Fraud?

Not likely with that level of scrutiny!

So, I agree that Gooferment program equals fraud.

Argh!

Clearly, there has to be a fundamental restructuring of these programs so that the beneficiary pays something. Even a tiny per centage will prevent fraud.

Not a Single Christian Church Left in Afghanistan, Says State Department
By Edwin Mora
October 10, 2011

*** begin quote ***

(CNSNews.com) — There is not a single, public Christian church left in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. State Department.

This reflects the state of religious freedom in that country ten years after the United States first invaded it and overthrew its Islamist Taliban regime.

In the intervening decade, U.S. taxpayers have spent $440 billion to support Afghanistan’s new government and more than 1,700 U.S. military personnel have died serving in that country.

The last public Christian church in Afghanistan was razed in March 2010, according to the State Department’s latest International Religious Freedom Report. The report, which was released last month and covers the period of July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, also states that “there were no Christian schools in the country.”

Here’s another way for the government-media safety parade propaganda machine to sell folks on the dangers of biological parents and the “safety” of our government parents: thanks to parental negligence, kids bring “unsafe” lunches to school that are ripe for bacteria. As usual, researchers study something – anything – that is insignificant and turn the non-issue into a major safety issue to be chatted about endlessly by the gullible media halfwits. And this news leads to a media storm and suggestions for treating your kid’s lunch like an organ being shipped off for transplant.

I just shake my head. It’s a miracle that the human race can survive without “our betters in Gooferment” telling us how to feed children.

Maybe if “We, The Sheeple” didn’t mandate sending them to prison, then they could be safely fed at home while they are being home schooled. And, parents, who choose to send their children to school elsewhere than home, would take care of the issue of safe food.

Maybe there should be no food in school? Didn’t the media just tell us that the kids are too fat?

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: More wasted money

Two never-finished Navy ships head to scrap heap

They were the only two that went unfinished, and were part of a 1985 budget request from the Navy for three oilers for a combined $567 million, according to records.

The two were built at the Pennsylvania Shipbuilding Co. in Philadelphia, which defaulted on its Navy contract in 1989. The ships were then sent to Florida to be finished. But disputes over costs and materials in Tampa led to the termination of that contract in 1993, according to records.

Waste, more waste, and ongoing waste.

That nightmare only continued at a Wednesday hearing , when she claims defense attorney Gabi Silver kept badgering her on the stand insinuating that she brought this attack on herself, causing this victim to snap in court.

“I said just get to the point bitch, it slipped out, it was inappropriate… all the bottled anger” says the alleged victim.

Without a warning, she says 36th District Judge Vanessa Bradley held her in contempt and ordered her to spend three days in jail.

Ahh, Gooferment judges, can’t even tell the good people from the bad. It’s all about the assumption of the right to initiate force.

Contempt?

The whole system deserves contempt.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Illinois steals from charities

Democrats stealing from poor, sick

Apparently “this type of scam” is not only tolerated in Illinois, by a vote of the Democrat-controlled state Legislature and decree of the Democrat governor, charity fraud is the law of the state.

According to the Illinois Times, “Over the last two years, the state of Illinois, in order to pay its bills, has seized more than $1.6 million from at least 15 different ‘charity’ funds to which Illinoisans voluntarily donate for causes like feeding the hungry and helping the homeless.”

In the Illinois News-Gazette, state Office of Management and Budget spokeswoman Kelly Kraft stated that $434,000 of that $1.6 million will never be repaid but promised that the balance will be repaid within 18 months.

In the Obama national media, a well-worn story line has the Republicans taking food from the mouths of hungry children and denying medical care to the sick whenever there is discussion of the federal budget deficit or raising the debt ceiling. For Democrats in Illinois, taking food from the mouths of hungry children and denying medical care and disease research funding by embezzling charitable donations is the law of the state.

This is an absolute disgrace.

How to prevent it? Stop allowing them to take power and certainly don’t give them any more money!

Argh!
