Patriotism Revisited, by Sean Gangol

Tuesday, September 3, 2019

When Donald Trump suggested that these women return to their countries of origin and fix the problems that plague those nations instead of trashing ours, people on the left called Trump a racist and xenophobe. Three out of four members of the Squad were born in the United States, so that does make Trump’s statement somewhat incorrect, when it comes to their countries of origin (except for Omar). Yet, I still don’t consider what Trump said to be racist or xenophobic or even all that unreasonable. These four women seem to have nothing but contempt for America and its values. I would say at the very least that these women have absolutely no business governing the very country they hate.

This “group” is a disgrace when you look at their statement in a ‘patriotic lens’.

Here’s how to cope with Propaganda Day today

Monday, September 2, 2019

In the meantime, it’s Labor Day, which means your Facebook feed is full of propaganda about labor unions giving us the weekend.

Oh, really?

Then I guess all Bangladesh needs to get weekends off is a bunch of labor unions?

Source: Here’s how to cope with Propaganda Day today

# – # – # – # – #

Labor unions didn’t bring us the benefits that capitalism, with its wealth, did.  I don’t understand why this isn’t obvious.  It’s like politicians, sensing which way the wind is blowing, get out in front of the parade and pretend to be “leading”.  Argh!

Stop saving your umbrella for a rainy day

Sunday, September 1, 2019

In Hong Kong, umbrellas are commonly used for sun protection (and a symbol of protest). (AP Photo/Kin Cheung/) Many of us apply sunscreen when we go to the beach. But walking outside under the fierce summer sun—even if it’s to run a quick errand—can be taxing: We sweat, we get exhausted, we burn and we expose ourselves to dangerous UV rays.

As for me, a 63-year-old male living in sunny Texas whose parents had skin cancer, I’ll keep embarrassing my kids by wearing my wide-brimmed dorky dad hat, slathering on the sun screen, donning long-sleeve shirts, and unfurling my portable umbrella when strolling under the sun.

DOJ Declines to Prosecute James Comey for Leaking Classified Info

Thursday, August 29, 2019

The watchdog office said Comey broke FBI rules by giving a memo containing unclassified information to his friend Daniel Richman with instructions to share the contents with a reporter. The office also said Comey failed to notify the FBI after he was fired that he had retained some of the memos in a safe at home. Comey wrote a series of memos about conversations with President Trump he said unnerved him. Comey has stated he wanted to make a record of the interactions because he was concerned President Trump might later lie about them.

An army of hungry little sea urchins could save Hawaiian reefs

A diver holding urchins just 15 to 20 millimeters in width. The animals, native to Hawai’i, are known to eat at least five species of invasive algae. (Hawaii Division of Aquatic Resources/) There are a lot of stories of introduced species gone wrong.

As humans continue to warm the planet, these foundational organisms will be lost to bleaching, in which warm temperatures lead corals to eject their zooxanthellae; the bleached corals are left vulnerable to disease and stress and sometimes die as a result.

Great article about a great piece of innovative work.

Well worth the read.

The writer unfortunately puts in the opinion that there is “global warming” and it’s caused by humans.

Both “facts” are arguable.

I would have rather seen the writer focus on how the reader could help.  For example, does the urchin deploying center take donations?  Is there a gofundme page to spin off a similar effort in a different country?  How can people support this effort?

But, everything has to have a political spin to it.

Sigh!

California Governor Blames Texas For California’s Policies That Caused The Homeless Crisis

Authored by Mac Slavo via SHTFplan.com, California’s authoritarian governor, Gavin Newsom, blamed the state of Texas for California’s homeless crisis. Rather than put the blame directly on the policies California has instituted that stifle free enterprise and punish heavily those who produce, Newsom said it’s the fault of Texas.

Thieves steal flat screen TVs after Amazon delivery drivers left them outside an apartment | Daily Mail Online

Top 5 conspiracy theories about Jeffrey Epstein’s death | Sharyl Attkisson

Sunday, August 18, 2019
  1. Powerful people arranged for Epstein to be murdered in his cell to prevent him from revealing blackmail information.
  2. Other inmates executed a plan to murder Epstein because he was accused of trafficking children for sex, and that’s unforgivable even among hardened criminals.
  3. The feds staged Epstein’s suicide and spirited him away for his own protection. He is actually in a secret witness protection program and will reappear later to testify against famous and powerful people.
  4. Powerful, corrupt people broke out Epstein. He has changed his identity and will never been seen in public again.
  5. The purported photo of Epstein being wheeled into the hospital is actually a photo of the deceased celebrity Anthony Bourdain.

Gun Control Is Dead, And So Is The Debate | Connor Drigotas

I think the author is correct.

“You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.” — apocryphal unsourced quote attributed to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto

So to, you can’t take the guns away from anyone who wants to keep them.

You’ll lose a lot of confiscators in the process, especially in the rural areas.  Maybe even in the cities, after all the armed drug gangs are arguably the finest light infantry guerrillas in the world. The police haven’t been able to disarm them yet; so what makes anyone think the can later.

In May 2018, a month before Vargas was murdered, Esquivel-Garcia was again put into ICE custody and local police custody but was able to post bond and be released back into the U.S. with only the promise that he would self-deport.
