While an interesting proposition, it does nothing to advance the discussion.

While I am a “proof-er”, I can easily see an interesting thread of possibility.

  • Let’s suppose that all the papers are out in the open.
  • Let’s further suppose that there is something embarrassing in them, but NOT a smoking gun that the “birther’s presume”.
  • Let’s further suppose that there is a lot of collateral information and documentation that supports his citizenship. (For example, a copy of his birth certificate or something that is not admissible as evidence.)
  • Then, there may NOT be a birth certificate on file in Hawaii. (We all know how screwed up the Gooferment is. So why can’t they lose a perfectly insignificant birth certificate?)

So, that’s it. No birth certificate, but yet, there’d be enough proof to put the issue to rest once and for all.

It would explain what he didn’t want public. Now, you may think that is “tin foil hat” thinking, but this is the essence between being a “proofer” and a “birther”. Since we can’t even define the spectrum of possibilities, we can’t even assign probabilities. So, every theory is equally likely.

The drive-by comment is itself stupid!

Everyone knows that there is no such thing as jumbo shrimp, an honest politician, or “illegal aliens”.

On behalf of roughly 45 million Americans who voted for you in the November 2nd Elections,

We request that all 242 Republican Members of the U.S. House of Representatives pledge to actively oppose and vote against all federal government bailouts for state governments or local governments.

No Funding bailouts for state or local governments.

Once state and local officials realize that you will not bail them out, they will solve their own spending problems.

Once they come to terms with economic reality, they will seek and find cheaper, better, smarter ways to do their government’s essential tasks.

They will become more responsible and accountable stewards of government.

Because almost all of you 242 Republican Members of the U.S. House of Representatives ran campaigns promising to roll back federal overspending, to exercise fiscal restraint, and to end federal bailouts, we ask you to notify state governments and local governments that you will vote against bailing them out.

TAGONIST: Wrong door raid in the Hudson Valley

The DEA has apologized for the wrong door raid in the Hudson Valley. John P. Gilbride, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, issued a statement Friday clearing Spring Valley resident David McKay and his family of anything to do with the series of drug raids that took place early Thursday in Westchester and Rockland counties. “We sincerely regret that while attempting to execute an arrest warrant for a member of this drug trafficking organization, the innocent McKay family was inadvertently affected by this enforcement operation,” Gilbride said. “Though we take many precautions to prevent this type of incident from happening, drug investigations are very complex and involve many fluid factors,” Gilbride said. “DEA will continue to pursue these criminal organizations to protect the public from the scourge of drug trafficking.”

PRO-TAGONIST: I’m just glad they were working to stop drug traffickers. Collateral damage is often a byproduct of good yet dangerous work. It’s not like math, 2+2=4, it has many variables, is very risky and uncertainty. But in the end, the more criminals we can stop…some collateral damage along the way is acceptable, to me anyway. It’a like a drone that takes out Al-Qaida terrorists planning an attack. Sometimes there is collateral damage there too, but when compared to the potential loss of lives the terrorists could have done, it is a win. No loss of life or liberty is a good thing…but it’s a mean world out there.

AN-TAGONIST: Little hard if you’re the “collateral damage”! Argh, makes me sick. The family in the Hudson Valley had Fourth Amendment rights to be secure in the home. Sorry, but I’d PUBLICLY discipline folks. If I was the Head of the DEA, I’d put at least a Letter of Reprimand in every single file of ANYONE involved in the raid. Including my own! I’d probably reassign the “Special Agent In Charge” to where ever the North Pole office was located. Nothing will send a message to bureaucrats as a threat to their beloved livelihood of “lifetime employment”. I’d put every other SAIC that a repeat blunder will result in termination. That’s what happens in the real world. One strike and you’re out! Argh! Legalize drugs; we’re all the “collateral damage” in the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs”.]

Amazing.

I look out the window and it’s over.

Looks like I’ve got about 24 inches of “global warming” at my door.

Time to fire up the old snow blower and go clear it.

Luckily, having no life, I have no where to go today.

But, with my patient, keeping a clear path for help, is a priority.

Sigh, this too shall pass.

I hear we’re getting another snow storm on Saturday.

Oh joy!

I think I have enough gas for this one and maybe the next.

I remember one storm like this in both the 70’s and 80’s. Maybe this is that “event of the decade”.

Do a few data chores. Wait for the neighbors to wake up. And get to work.

Anything on the topic of “teaching credentialing” that this fat old white guy injineer has read, has highlighted that this field doesn’t get the “best and brightest”.

So maybe insisting that “teachers” demonstrate some intellectual prowess or achievement is a way of getting the children exposed to excellence.

In a Karate Dojo, I’m told, the master usually instructs the beginners so that they get the best start possible.

If we could get the Gooferment out of “education”, maybe “the best and brightest” would be in “education”. How much would you pay for “an einstein” to teach you how to … write a blog?

I laughed when I read this. I had a similar “funny clock” in my book.

This is going to get interesting. Especially since FACEBOOK is being touted as the arbiter of identity.

Any competent Information Security practicioner could have predicted that “NAME” would not be a unique identifier. Or, any combination of LNAME, FNAME, LNAME||FNAME, or even if you throw in SUFFIX, TITLE, MI, or NICKNAME.

Sigh!

I learned this lesson in High School — too many moon ago — when the Good Christian Brothers had to revamp their “information systems” — manual on clay tablets — to accommodate identical twins Peter and Paul. It was a hoot. They were the first twins I remember meeting. (You really count Playboy twins as having been “met”. Yeah, I know TMI!)

So you can establish “identity” with any combination of name, email, phone number, or even address.

How does the internet establish identity?

I have, always, thought that the ISPs were absolutely best suited to provide “identification”.

Of course, they never agreed. But when there is a credit card transaction, you actually have something that you can hang your hat on.

It doesn’t assure that you can say it is a “unitary id”. I can, and do have, multiple ISP accounts paid for separately on different credit cards for what would be “multiple identities”.

But, it’s better than depending upon FACEBOOK.

FACEBOOK has even abandoned requiring College email accounts, so even they have realized the flaws in their original design.

What to do? What will they do?

Bottom line: Nobody does nothing! And, the problem goes on.

This is important because IF the ISPs stepped up, we could have a good age differentiator on the internet. But no one cares much! Unless you’re a parent.

The great advantage of commodity money (i.e., typically silver and gold), as opposed to fiat money aka “It’s money because the Gooferment says it is” (e.g., the United States “dollar” aka Federal Reserve Banknote, the Euro, the Yuan), is simplicity.

There’s no expensive bureaucrats at the Treasury or cartel members at the FED to pay for.

Why did we ever let them slip this one by us?

What a bunch of hogwash!

This is all a myth.

Myth: “an unproved or false collective belief that is used to justify a social institution”!

Boy, that sure fits.

If you went to Metropolitan Life Insurance and bought an annuity. They would take your wealth that you gave them freely, invest it in something productive, deduct their fee, and return it to you over time in accordance with your contract. You have “rights”. You know it will be audited. You can sell it. You can rely on their assurances. There’s a risk, but you’ve considered and know it.

Now compare it to the Social Security “system”. (It’s wrong to call it a Ponzi scheme. In a Ponzi scheme, you volunteer to participate. Usually out of greed. But, with “Social Security”, you don’t get a choice.)

They TAKE your wealth. If you don’t want to participate, men with guns will come and possibly kill you.

That wealth is thrown into the General Fund. And, you get a promise. Not even an IOU.

The whole article “celebrates” the system.

Where are your rights?

When the system goes broke, you, and I, will be standing like David Copperfield, hat in hand, saying, “May I have what’s mine, sir?”

“We, The Sheeple” are getting shorn again.

Job hopping used to be taboo, but today it’s not only common, it’s also considered a good quality in many workers. What changed?

The “gold watch” era is over. “Job hopping” is still taboo. But, the perception is reality. Today, it’s all about being “entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial”. Everyone is on their own. In an organization or not, you’re really on “The Apprentice” every minute.

That may sound to cynical, but …

Success for this generation is:

(1) ruthless financial discipline — no bad debt;

(2) a life long interest in learning — education — a degree — they can’t take it away from you;

(3) a NON-OFFSHORABLE white collar job in order to save big bux;

(4) a blue collar skill for hard times — never saw a poor plumber;

(5) one or more internet based businesses — your store is always open;

(6) develop a second business or avocation – under the radar – start small part-time;

(7) a large will-maintained network of people who can and will “help” you;

(8) buy and save assets that hold their value over time; and

(9) emulate the Amish and Mormons for their sense of community, simple thrifty living, and true to core values.

Notice that “loyalty to an employer who will screw you when it suits their purpose” is nowhere on that list.

It’s a complete paradigm and meme change that’s required.

It’s all about creating value. However one is uniquely qualified to do it, you have to do it in such a way that you retain some. And, you must always focus on unlocking value. For yourself primarily. And, developing skills at doing it.

Very cynical, I know. Very blunt. But, what does one expect from a fat old white guy injineer. And, you really don’t think the “unemployment rate” is under 10%? Lot of people have to learn a new set of paradigms and memes to compete in the new world.

It would seem that there are a lot of charges to be investigated and filed in this case.

IPAD: Task swap ain’t

In using the IPAD, I have noticed that “swapping” between tasks or even between SAFARI windows isn’t a swap in the sense of ALT-TAB on a “real”computer.

Using the on screen keyboad is a PIA.

Different apps have different keyboards?

CARINGBRIDGE app loses input if not committed before task switch, hibernate, or time out.

I try to write all my stuff in a text editor and cut’n’paste it where needed. Lost too much. Too often. But, I try to discipline myself to do it that way. The losses are too painful.
