Labels

Labels can make your inbox way more manageable. They’re kind of like filters (and you can set up a filter to send an email to certain labels). Labels live in the sidebar where you’ll find Inbox, Sent, Junk and other folders. Scroll down at click Create New Label. From there, you can name your label as well as group labels.

A filter can only yellow star a message.

I haven’t been able to figure out a work around.

Eventually this may “cook GMAIL’s goose” with me.

Maybe it’s time to move on?

HARDWARE: Do as I say; not as I do

Sunday, April 4, 2021

Argh!

OK, I have put my coffee tray on my truck set many many times.

Today, it cost me when I spilt two large DD coffees on my seat.

So was my laptop.

It appears that I now have a problem or three — sticky keys, a partially damaged screen, and some power issues.

New machine comes in tomorrow.

Reminds me of why I like CHROMEBOOKS.  Cheap and cloud based.

If only MARSEDIT would run on the CHROMEBOOK, then I’d have migrated completely years ago.

Oh well, live and learn!

Argh!

RANT: Everything gets politicized and MLB jumped in with both feet

Sunday, April 4, 2021

https://www.mlb.com/news/2021-all-star-game-draft-relocated

*** begin quote ***

Major League Baseball announced on Friday that it will relocate the 2021 All-Star Game and MLB Draft, originally scheduled to take place in Atlanta, to a to-be-determined location.

*** end quote ***

I’m really tired of “sports” getting “politicized”!

When I want “political advice”, I certainly wouldn’t ask a baseball bureaucrat.  When I want “baseball advice”, I certainly wouldn’t ask a Gooferment politician or bureaucrat.

The “We, The Sheeple” of Georgia are very capable of taking the proverbial paddle to their representatives’ butts in the next election. Everyone else should butt out.

Baring some Constitutional challenge, which will take a decade to sort out, it can be taken car3e of without MLB’s “help”.

Not everything is a “crisis” and not everything is a “Federal case”.

Let the citizens in Georgia sort out the facts and decide the policies that govern in Georgia.

TINFOILHAT: Get Labelled a ‘Domestic Terrorist’? Maybe!

How Conspiracy Theorizing May Soon Get You Labelled a ‘Domestic Terrorist’
Conspiracies for good and for evil do exist now, as they have from time immemorial. The only question is which intention do you want to devote your life towards?
By Matthew Ehret
OffGuardian
April 1, 2021

*** begin quote ***

If you are starting to feel like forces controlling the governments of the west are out to get you, then it is likely that you are either a paranoid nut job, or a stubborn realist.

Either way, it means that you have some major problems on your hands.

If you don’t happen to find yourself among the tinfoil hat-wearing strata of conspiracy theorists waiting in a bunker for aliens to either strike down or save society from the shape shifting lizard people, but are rather contemplating how, in the 1960s, a shadow government took control of society over the dead bodies of many assassinated patriots, then certain conclusions tend to arise.

*** end quote ***

One can only ask questions.  One that get “answered”, fine. But if you get too close to the truth, then you’ll be labeled as a wacko.

But, like the JFK assassination, there was a conspiracy.  Cut bono?  LBJ.  All the rest is smoke and mirrors.

If that makes me a ‘Domestic Terrorist’, then so be it.

VOCABULARY: The Cantillon Effect

Saturday, April 3, 2021

https://buff.ly/2Pnn5AE

How The Nation’s Central Bank Is Covertly ‘Nudging’ Americans To Accept Digital Money & The Great Reset – LewRockwell

*** begin quote ***

The Cantillon Effect explains that money is first distributed to the financial classes, bankers, government, etc., and then the masses. As money ripples through the economy, its value is inflated away. The first people to receive the money do not experience the inflationary (loss of purchasing power) that the last people to get the money do.

The wealthy benefit from inflation as the value of their assets (property, investments) rise.  The poor benefit from deflation because necessities are cheaper to buy, effectively giving them what they perceive as a pay raise.

Also, in periods of credit expansion, the poor borrow much like receiving a pay raise.  For the wealthy, the stock market is their playground; for the poor, lottery tickets may be their only opportunity to get ahead financially.

*** end quote ***

So why is the FED (Federal Reserve System) —

The Federal Reserve Bank is a misnomer. IT ain’t “federal”. It reserves nothing. And, it ain’t a “bank”. It is a private cartel of the elite banks run for their benefit and that of the entrenched politicians.

—, the Gooferment. Its politicians, and its bureaucrats pushing for inflation?

Cui bono?

The Gooferment gets to repay the “national debt” or the interest on that debt with “dollars” that are worth less.

Argh!

HEALTH: Is this “anti-vax”? No, it’s just science, these are legitimate concerns.

The Top Four Reasons Why Many People, Doctors & Scientists Refuse To Take The COVID Vaccine
By Arjun Walia
Collective Evolution
April 2, 2021

*** begin quote ***

From what I see, the majority of people receive their information from mainstream media organizations, which are organizations that have strong ties to pharmaceutical corporations and governments, and are known for presenting one perspective that favours a particular agenda while completely ridiculing the other. They sometimes go as far as labelling another perspective as a “conspiracy theory” despite the fact that there is ample, credible evidence to support the claims of that perspective. Do people simply believe things because they feel that everybody else believes it too? What are the social and cultural implications of not being in alignment with the majority?

*** and ***

1. A Lack of Trust In Government & Pharmaceutical Companies.

2. The Virus Has A 99.95 Survival Rate.

3. Some People Don’t Know How Safe And Effective The Vaccine Is

4. There May Be Protection From Infection

*** and ***

At the end of the day, there are ample concerns about the COVID vaccine, its effectiveness, the safety of it in the short term and in the long term. Despite these concerns, the vaccine is heavily marketed as unquestionably safe and effective. A fifth category could have been added to this article, and that’s the ridicule and acknowledgments of other, cheap effective treatments that have shown to have a tremendous amount of success. It seems these treatments would have rendered the vaccine useless and unnecessary, but the vaccine is a multiple billion dollar product.

*** end quote ***

I don’t think I am an “anti-vax” type.

That being said, I am very concerned about taking any vax; not just this WuFlu one.

I’ll take the Shingles, but not the Flu.

I’m trying to place the various WuFlu vaccines on this spectrum of effectiveness and safety.

Until I can, I’m not taking anything.

Argh!

The worst new car fee is the destination charge – Roadshow

Friday, April 2, 2021

Destination fees are likely a nice profit center for carmakers, but I can’t say that definitively because there is little transparency about what goes into them or why they differ radically between makes and models. But I do believe shipping and dealer prep are as essential a part of bringing a car to market as conducting crash tests and should be folded into MSRP the same way.

Just another way to “defraud” the car buyer!

GOLDBUG: TWO DOZEN REASONS WHY OWNING PHYSICAL GOLD IS IMPERATIVE

WHY BUY GOLD WHEN THERE IS BITCOIN & TESLA
March 24, 2021By Egon von Greyerz

*** begin quote ***

TWO DOZEN REASONS WHY OWNING PHYSICAL GOLD IS IMPERATIVE

Let me give people who are frustrated with the gold price the reasons why they shouldn’t be:

1. Firstly, physical gold is not bought for instant gains but as insurance and protection against a rotten financial system and constantly depreciating currencies.

*** and ***

5. In relation to US money supply, gold is today at the same level as in 1970 when the gold price was $35 or in 2000 when gold was $290.

*** and ***

20. Exponential deficit and debt growth combined with galloping money printing will inevitably destroy most paper currencies in coming years.

21. The major structural shortages of physical gold and a failure of the gold paper markets could make physical gold unavailable at any price.

*** end quote ***

Yes, I am a goldbug. Aside from its beauty and simplicity, it’s the only asset without a counterparty risk.

When I consider the debt and deficit, I don’t understand how the USA doesn’t become like the Weimar Republic?  (You know where the children played with bank notes, bundled of notes were burned for heat, and some wag said: “Only government can take perfectly good paper, cover it with perfectly good ink and make the combination worthless.”  (Yes, I know it was Milton Friedman)

When you consider the currently in charge politicians and bureaucrats, who want to raise taxes and create a wealth tax, what better way to “insure” your portfolio.

Remember in “beans, bullets, bandaids, and bullion”, gold is number 4.

I won’t quibble if you add a fifth B — bitcoin — to the list.

Sigh!

Glad I won’t be around to observe or absorb the suffering.

VOCABULARY: Fleeceware

Wednesday, March 31, 2021

https://lifehacker.com/how-to-tell-if-youre-being-scammed-by-fleeceware-apps-1846574109

Fleeceware is one of the worst scams you can deal with on your device, because it has one, singular goal: extracting as much money from you as possible. It generally accomplishes this not by dropping malware on your device or otherwise forcing you to do something; instead, fleeceware hides in plain sight

POLITICAL: Can “we” ever end “free” public education?

Wednesday, March 31, 2021

MARCH 30, 2021 12:21PM
School Choice Is on The Move. Is It Too Late?
By Neal McCluskey

*** begin quote ***

Unfortunately, private schools have suffered for over a century from a chronic threat to their health that has been the underlying condition in numerous COVID-19 losses: they have had to compete against “free” public schools that receive large taxpayer subsidies. And as the chart below shows, such subsidies have been growing for decades.

Given the massive problem of having to convince people to pay twice for education – first taxes for public schools, then tuition – it is not surprising that the nation has lost at least 133 private schools, enrolling around 21,000 students, due to the economic effects of COVID-19. Most had been suffering from serious financial ailments long before that.

*** end quote ***

In the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee, Gooferment Skrules have a ruinous effect on property taxes.  The Teachers’ Union runs the State and unlikely to change.  If we could KILL the whole concept of “free” “public” “education”.

Maybe if the First Amendment argument could ever get traction, then we could convince a court that the teaching of “secularism” amounts to teaching the worship of the Gooferment as a state “religion”.

Financially, “free public education” is a killer from a real estate tax perspective.

The political influencie of the Teachers’ Union is an anti-democratic tour de force. Given the inbreeding of teachers and politicians “We, The Sheeple” can never be free of these parasites.

I especially object to teachers serving on Boards of Education in town nearby where they work.  It’s an interlocking conflict of interest.

Argh!
