Yet the vast majority of Americans still believe that retirees are entitled to Social Security benefits because they paid into the system their entire working lives.

But that couldn’t possibly be true. Not if the government can withhold half of your benefits and tax you up to 85 percent on the rest of them. If Americans are entitled to Social Security benefits because it is “their money,” then it shouldn’t matter how much money they make after retirement. Their income shouldn’t trigger the taxation of their Social Security benefits.

There is, in fact, no connection between Social Security taxes paid and Social Security benefits received. Benefits are calculated by an arbitrary formula that Congress can change at any time. Even worse, there is no contractual right to receive benefits. When Congress passed the Social Security Act of 1935 (H.R.7260), which was signed into law by Roosevelt on August 14, 1935, it put Social Security benefits in Title II and Social Security taxes in Title VIII with no reference in either title to the other.

So if Social Security is not a retirement plan, a trust fund, an annuity, an insurance program, a savings account, or a pension fund, then what is it? The true nature of Social Security is that it is an intergenerational, income-transfer, wealth-redistribution welfare program that takes money from those who work and gives it to those who don’t. And if that is the case, then Social Security — as much as food stamps, Section 8 housing vouchers, cash payments, and every other form of welfare — should be eliminated.

Bottom line: It’s not YOUR money. It is gigantic Ponzi scheme.

“We, The Sheeple” have been defrauded.

Yes, they SHOULD HAVE KNOW that Gooferment is immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy.

So when does this end? Based on the information being offered by the state, it doesn’t. There is no mention of a sunset provision in these rules. The government may seriously be considering making this “the new normal.” And it’s not going to be restricted to just New York State. You can bet that almost all of the blue states (at a minimum) are going to copy this system in short order. Are we really going to put up with this? We are constantly scolded about any activities that carry a hint of what someone considers racism, sexism, or any other “ism” you’d care to name. But discrimination against the unvaccinated is apparently fine and dandy. This cannot be allowed to stand as the way society works going forward and our elected officials need to hear about this loud and clear.

It’s just another way to divide “We, The Sheeple”.

On March 29, our Nation will commemorate National Vietnam War Veterans Day on its 50th anniversary. There are several virtual events, live webcasts and 2021 traveling wall schedules posted to help us remember and respect the nine million American men and women – more than six million of whom are living today – who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces during our involvement in Vietnam from November 1, 1955 to May 7, 1975.

Sadly for all those that didn’t come home and those that were so badly damaged — both recognized and unrecognized.

A special place in Hell for all the politicians and bureaucrats that sent them there.

Let’s honor them by bringing all the girls, boys, women, and men home now! We have so many politicians and bureaucrats to send in their place if it’s really needed!

Today, if you want to know when the next solar eclipse is going to be, you turn to Google. If you lived in ancient Greece, though, you might have used a device now known as the Antikythera mechanism.

Considered the world’s first analog computer, this marvel of ancient engineering used dozens of bronze gears to predict the positions of the Moon, Sun, and five planets, as well as the timing of solar and lunar eclipses.

Divers discovered the Antikythera mechanism while exploring a Roman-era shipwreck in 1901, but the ancient computer was in far from pristine condition—only about a third of it had survived the 2,000 years underwater.

Researchers have been trying to understand how the Antikythera mechanism worked ever since—and now, a team from University College London (UCL) may have finally cracked its code.

“The classic astronomy of the first millennium BC originated in Babylon,” researcher Aris Dacanalis said, “but nothing in this astronomy suggested how the ancient Greeks found the highly accurate 462-year cycle for Venus and 442-year cycle for Saturn.”

Chief Thomas Cummings was compensated$441,945.82 last year, according to village documents. His annual base pay was $263,829, easily topping Shea’s $239,092.

The village is not exactly a hotbed of crime. It has not had a murder since 2008, and last year reported no homicides, rapes, robberies or aggravated assaults. It did have two car thefts, one burglary, and 42 non-violent larcenies, according to state Division of Criminal Justice Services data.

Cummings’ massive compensation package included $86,256.66 in retirement contributions; $31,000 in extra vacation, a $23,893.02 night differential — and a $4,000 line item called “cleaning/clothing/college.” No one could fully explain what “3 Cs” taxpayers were being billed for.

Here’s why the bureaucrats shouldn’t be in charge of deciding pay.

It might be there a while. It’s not easy to unstick a gigantic shipping vessel, experts say. The Suez Canal Authority, the Egypt-owned body that owns and operates the canal, has not yet said when it expects traffic to resume.

Meanwhile, at least 34 ships carrying 379,000 20-foot containers of stuff couldn’t move through the canal in either direction as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the logistics software company Project44. “It’s a pretty major deal” for global trade, says Henry Byers, a maritime and global trade analyst at the logistics data company FreightWaves.

It’s very unusual—even unheard of—for ships to get wedged in the Suez Canal like this, says Captain Morgan McManus, who is the master of the training ship at State University of New York Maritime College and has traveled through the canal at least half a dozen times. In the rare event that a ship loses power or control in the canal, it gets laid on the sandy bank, where it’s inspected or repaired. In the meantime, other, smaller ships might be able to pass by. 

 BSM, the ship’s technical manager, said Wednesday “strong winds” had pushed the ship perpendicular to the canal’s banks, with the towering stacks of containers on board acting as a giant sail. Official reports outlining the causes of the incident likely won’t be available for weeks, perhaps even a year, but BSM says no one was hurt.

When I hear “unusual” or “unheard of”, I think “cut bono”.

It would seem that if someone wanted to corner the market on something like the “ginger” it’s carrying, staging an accident like this could lead to the desired result.
