EXCLUSIVE: How Jimmy Stewart’s agony in It’s a Wonderful Life came from extreme PTSD he suffered after he lost 130 of his men as fighter pilot in WWII

  • Actor Jimmy Stewart was haunted by his memories from his time in the Air Force and suffered from PTSD when he returned from World War II
  • Stewart wrestled with the guilt of killing civilians in bomb raids over France and Germany and felt responsible for the death of his comrades
  • Stewart never talked about his struggles and bottled up his emotions
  • But they came out when acting parts he chose when he returned to Hollywood
  • He tapped into his emotional distress during filming of  It’s a Wonderful Life, where his character George Bailey unravels in front of his family
  • Stewart’s anguish is laid bare for the first time in Mission: Jimmy Stewart and the fight for Europe by author Robert Matzen

It’s hard to imagine a better kept secret. Maybe a better kept secret was that all the romantic leads in 50’s Hollywood were gay or sex creeps.

Argh!

Bombing civilians is crushing burden. We see something similar from today’s drone pilots.

Argh!

What can we do? Stop killing civilians? Stop get involved in other people’s business? MYOB as a foreign policy.

Maybe some day we will learn.

BUSTED! HILLARY CAUGHT USING CHILD ACTOR AT PENNSYLVANIA TOWN HALL
OCTOBER 6, 2016 | TYLER DURDEN | ZERO HEDGE | 3,210 VIEWS

*** begin quote ***

At a Hillary Clinton town hall yesterday in Haverford, Pennsylvania, a 15 year old girl was supposedly “chosen at random” to ask a question of the former Secretary of State. But, the well-scripted performance raised some suspicion with a YouTuber named Spanglevision who decided to dig a little deeper. And, wouldn’t you know it, the “random” participant was none other than child actor, Brennan Leach, whose father just happens to be Pennsylvania democratic State Senator Daylin Leach.  Oh, and in case it wasn’t obvious, Daylin supports Hillary for president…shocking.

Why do we have to depend upon a random interested YouTuber to uncover the truth?

Didn’t any of the “mainstream (lame stream) media” follow up or were they in on the joke.

Inflation – The Simple Explanation is Theft
Posted on October 7, 2016 by Gary Christenson

*** begin quote ***

Inflation is a form of theft. Keynes understood it nearly a century ago when he said, “By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens.”

*** end quote ***

I’m so TIRED of the sheeple not recognizing it.

So, what to do?

Stop using Federal Reserve Notes.

Barter, trade, save your nickels, save in gold or silver.

And, don’t let ANY politician tell you that things are just great.

They are using the Federal Reserve System to silently rob EVERYONE who holds a Federal Reserve Note.

The Federal Reserve Bank is a misnomer. IT ain’t “federal”. It reserves nothing. And, it ain’t a “bank”. It is a private cartel of the elite banks run for their benefit and that of the entrenched politicians.

POLITICAL: We need immigrants; not welfare takers

Doug Casey on the Migrant Crisis
By Nick Giambruno
Doug Casey’s International Man
October 6, 2016

*** begin quote ***

Doug Casey: I’m all for immigration and completely open borders to enable opportunity seekers from anyplace to move anyplace else. With two big, critically important, caveats: 1) there can be no welfare or free government services, so everyone has to pay his own way, and no freeloaders are attracted 2) all property is privately owned, to minimize the possibility of squatter camps full of beggars.

In the absence of welfare benefits, immigrants are usually the best of people because you get mobile, aggressive, and opportunity-seeking people that want to leave a dead old culture for a vibrant new one. The millions of immigrants who came to the U.S. in the late 19th and early 20th centuries had zero in the way of state support.

*** end quote ***

I think this is essence of a little L libertarian’s look at “immigrants”.

The USA needs that “fresh blood” of all those coming here for the correct reasons.

And, we can use energizing all the “welfare farmers” by eliminating Gooferment welfare for citizens and immigrants!

In Defense of Gary Johnson… But Bill Weld is a different matter.

Gary Johnson, in spite of himself – and in spite of the sinister Weld – may wind up stopping Hillary Clinton from taking the White House. And that, my dear readers, is a lesson in the truism that one’s actions are likely to have all sorts of unintended consequences. If Weld thought he could throw the election to Hillary by joining the Libertarian ticket – over the objections of a great many horrified libertarians – he may be proved laughably wrong.

SOFTWARE: New release of Portable Software/USB for Windoze

Monday, October 3, 2016

https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/editorial/?source=psp

Portable software for USB, portable, and cloud drives

Brought to you by: chriswombatcritternycmarkomlm

Editor’s ReviewRead User Reviews

PortableApps is an open source, application launcher that you install directly to your USB or cloud drive and use on any PC. You can download hundreds of portable applications from the PortableApps integrated directory, like Firefox, Skype, and more. This means you take your browser with your bookmarks and extensions, your office suite, your photo editor, your music collection, your games, your development tools, and more with you everywhere you go. And because everything stays on your drive, every PC becomes your PC. Additional features include integrated backup, interface themes, a search option, support for personal files, favorites and more.

PortableApps.com at a Glance

It took a few minutes to install the PortableApps Platform, and several more to install six apps including ClamWin, Firefox, GIMP, KeePass, Skype, and Stellarium. To start, we launched the heavyweight GIMP without a hitch, while each additional app opened just as quickly. The idea of carrying apps around on a USB seems plausible but the idea of loading the PortableApps Platform to Dropbox, or the like, seems like an even better idea. So, without further adieu, consider trying the PortableApps Platform, especially if you’ve been thinking about the best way to take your apps for a joy ride.

Product Details

Here is a detailed breakdown of PortableApps’ features:

  • Take your apps everywhere—PortableApps lets you carry all your favorite apps on a portable device or cloud drive and use them on any PC.
  • Use a portable device, cloud directory, or local drive—The PortableApps Platform comes with a smart installer that easily installs your environment to a portable device, a cloud drive (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.), or a local PC, so you can safely back up data to the cloud.
  • Quickly find and install apps—PortableApps has a built-in app store that lists apps by category, title, or new and recently updated so you can install the apps you want with just a few clicks. And there’s no download limit.
  • Easily organize apps—Grow and organize your app collection with folders that group them automatically or as you see fit. Pick favorites and have the menu learn what to keep up front and center. Or use the search to find what you’re looking for.
  • Easily update apps—When a new security fix for your browser is released or a new feature in your favorite game is available, the PortableApps Updater automatically lets you know. Just click a button and the updates are downloaded and installed without messing up your settings and saved files.
  • Personalize your app menu—With a dozen bundled themes, each with a rainbow of color selections, the PortableApps Platform lets you pick a different look every day for months and never have the same menu twice.
  • Take your fonts along too—The PortableApps Platform supports the ability to carry fonts on your portable device and use them with your portable software without needing to install them on the local machine.
  • Advanced Features—The PortableApps Platform has the power and the options to work the way you want. And if there’s something we haven’t added that you’d like to see, just ask in the forums. We add new features every month!

ECONOMICS: Four reasons for a dim employment forecast

Men Without Work
09/26/2016
Over the weekend, the FT published my review of Nicholas Eberstadt’s important new book Men Without Work.

*** begin quote ***

I think this is likely a substantial underestimate unless something is done for a number of reasons.  First everything we hear and see regarding technology suggests the rate of job destruction will pick up.  Think of the elimination of drivers, and of those who work behind cash registers.  Second, the gains in average education and health of the workforce over the last 50 years are unlikely to be repeated.  Third, to the extent that non-work is contagious, it is likely to grow exponentially rather than at a linear rate.  Fourth, declining marriage rates are likely to raise rates of labor force withdrawal given that non-work is much more common for unmarried than married men.

*** end quote ***

This is a really dismal view of what’s in store for the men of the future.

As well as for the uneducated, or those who can not generate value.

Sad.

Everyone better be teaching their children to be entrepreneurial.

Was it made worse because Monty reduced the odds?

ECONOMICS: The US Military is obsolete and just misdirected

An Obsolescent Military: Bombing Everything, Gaining Nothing
By Fred Reed
September 26, 2016

*** begin quote ***

All of which is to say that while the US military looks formidable, it isn’t particularly useful, and aids China by bankrupting the US. Repeatedly it has demonstrated that it cannot defeat campesinos armed with those most formidable weapons, the AK, the RPG, and the IED. The US does not have the land forces to fight a major or semi-major enemy. It could bomb Iran, with unpredictable consequences, but couldn’t possibly conquer it.

The wars in the Mid-East illustrate the principle nicely. Iraq didn’t work. Libya didn’t work. Iran didn’t back down. ISIS and related curiosities? The Pentagon is again bombing an enemy that can’t fight back—its specialty—but that it seems unable to defeat.

The wrong military, wrong enemy, wrong war, wrong world.

*** end quote ***

Wow, Fred Reed had really nailed this one.

Militaries are famous for fighting the LAST war.

The Civil War was fought as if the war didn’t have any accurate weapons. WW1 was fought with massed troops fed into machine guns. WW2 was fought similarly. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Argh!

When will we realize that the Gooferment is fat, slow, and stupid.

Lester Holt: The Third Debater?
By Heat Street Staff | 11:01 pm, September 26, 2016

At tonight’s debate, Donald Trump faced off not just against Hillary Clinton, but against moderator Lester Holt.

  • Hillary’s emails
  • Benghazi
  • The Clinton Foundation

While ignoring these issues, Holt grilled Trump on

  • stop-and-frisk,
  • the birther story,
  • his comments about women,
  • his many bankruptcies,
  • why he hasn’t released his tax returns

— and a host of other issues the media sees as unfriendly to the Republican candidate.

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/09/27/lester-holt-spins-debate-for-hillary-6-huge-ways-plays-gotcha-with-trump.html

1)      Jobs: Holt pressed Trump with two questions on how he was going to add jobs even though the first answer discussed renegotiating trade deals.

2)      Taxes: He portrayed the tax plans from the left – Clinton wanting to tax the rich and Trump “calling for tax cuts for the wealthy,” forcing Trump to correct him.

3)      Tax Returns: Trump got hit hard with tax return questions for “business conflicts” while Hillary got a slide on emails, her hidden speeches and Clinton Foundation business conflicts.

4)      Birthers: Holt asked a “birther” question that lasted longer than Clinton’s email answer. He then added three separate follow-ups to jam up Trump.

5)      Iraq: He hammered Trump for supporting the Iraq War, downplaying how Hillary had voted to do the same.

6)      Hillary’s Gaffe: When asked about biased policing, Clinton said, “I think implicit bias is a problem for everyone, not just police.” Holt ignored it, rather than challenge the idea everyone is bigoted.

It is a good reminder that neo-conservatism was always a Progressive heresy and never had roots in Anglo-Saxon conservatism. Modern Progressivism has curdled into a list of hatreds, offering nothing but an increasingly dark vision of society. The neocons are following the same path. Guys like Jeff Jacoby can only tell you what they are not, and increasingly that sounds like “not American.” To be a neocon today is to do little more than spew venom at normal Americans for not supporting wars of choice and unlimited immigration.

RANT: College is big biz

Saturday, September 24, 2016

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/09/walter-e-williams/left-wing-cruelty-black-students/

Cruelty to Black Students
By Walter E. Williams
September 23, 2016

*** begin quote ***

The problem of black education begins long before college. The National Assessment of Educational Progress, known as The Nation’s Report Card, shows that nationally in 2015, only 7 percent of black 12th-graders scored proficient in math, and only 17 percent did so in reading. This suggests that the average black 12th-grader has the academic proficiency of a white eighth- or ninth-grader. Consider the following question: If one admits 1,000 randomly selected eighth- and ninth-graders to college and admits 1,000 randomly selected 12th-graders, who do you think is going to come out on top? Who would be surprised if the eighth- and ninth-graders felt inferiority, oppression, and insensitivity?

*** end quote ***

Clearly the Goofement Skrules are failures. They are not preparing posterity for “real life”.

Then, the politician and bureaucrats want to “send everyone to college”. How stupid.

What’s the ROI of wasting everyone’s time and a ton of money on “students” who will never succeed with majors that are virtually useless.

And, I still have never seen a poor plumber.

The problem, as I see it, is just another instance of the “socialist calculation problems”. How can one or anyone calculate an ROI? When a private entrepreneur invests their own capital, they calculate — perhaps at a gut level — what will be the likelihood of a return. Unfortunately, students and their families going into debt are essentially misled by the Gooferment Skrules about the return.

Argh!

Of course, the Liberals in the Colleges profit from the bodies pushed through their “meat grinders”!

The use of marijuana for medical purposes is now legal in 25 states and, as of this writing, two additional states (Arkansas and Florida) have pending legislation or ballot measures to legalize medical marijuana.

Marijuana Does Not Meet Criteria for Schedule 1 Controlled Substances

According to the 1970 Controlled Substances Act, Schedule 1 drugs are defined as those having a “high potential for abuse” and “no acceptable medical use in treatment.” Research to date shows that marijuana meets neither of these criteria.

Hillary’s “Partner in Government”
By Thomas DiLorenzo
September 17, 2016

*** begin quote ***

What all of this means is that the Fed is an engine of political corruption and economic instability.  It has generated inflation rather than controlling it (the dollar is worth less than 5% of its value in 1913, the year the Fed was created); has caused endless boom-and-bust cycles such as the 2008 real estate market crash; hides the true cost of government, especially the costs of war; and generates what economists call a “political business cycle” as described by Robert Weintraub’s research.

RANT: Colin Kaepernick is a flyspeck and not the issue we have to face

Wednesday, September 21, 2016
Received a forwarded email  from a relative with a lot of picture meme, mostly from Facebook, about Colin Kaepernick. Since I have no life, I immediately took issue with the importance of this fellow.

# – # – # – # – #

Dear Usual:

Of course, he has the right to protest in any manner he sees fit.

While we have many many “problems” in this country, we have the opportunity to change.

Over my lifetime, I have shifted politically from “right” to little L libertarian. At the same time the country seems to have shifted from “right” to “left” while losing it’s collecting soul and in some instances mind.

I don’t know how we get back to the Dead Old White Guys’ vision to a land of peace and prosperity. But making this fellow either a scapegoat for misplaced anger, or anything more than the trivial spoiled individual who seeking his “identity”, is a wasted misplaced effort.

Hence, I’d like to focus on the big issues and what can we do to change them. Most notably, the welfare / warfare state which is besieged by Crony Capitalists, politicians, and bureaucrats that suck the system dry.

I’d start by bringing all the girls and boys home from these foreign mistakes until we have a real national unity about spilling blood and spending treasure. Then, I’d eliminate “welfare” for everyone — corporations and individuals — politicians and “fat cats” alike — and reset the Nation on the path of fiscal responsibility and individual responsibility. Tough love for America might, just might, recapture the American dream.

I regret that it’s the posterity that will inherit our hubris.

POLITICAL: What do we do when faced with overwhelming evidence?

What Is the FBI Hiding?
By Andrew P. Napolitano
September 15, 2016

What is going on here? The FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton has not served the rule of law. The rule of law — a pillar of American constitutional freedom since the end of the Civil War — mandates that the laws are to be enforced equally. No one is beneath their protection, and no one is above their requirements. To enforce the rule of law, we have hired the FBI.

What do we do when the FBI rejects its basic responsibilities?

TINFOILHAT: HRC’s double!

Body Doubles: A Very Handy Politico’s Tool, From LBJ to HRC
By Phillip F. Nelson
September 14, 2016

*** begin quote ***

An interesting story about a purported “Hillary Double” is now bouncing around the internet, even though it has not yet broken through the “glass ceiling” that covers the Mainstream Media (MSM), except for a few places where it is mentioned in hushed tones, as yet another “conspiracy theory.”

*** and ***

The accompanying report notes the fact that when Mrs. Clinton left the event at the 9/11 memorial ceremony she collapsed and had to be lifted by several of her attendants into her van. Clearly, that vehicle is specially equipped to accommodate her needs and is never very far away from where she is. After it drove off, instead of taking the obviously very ill candidate to a hospital, it turned out that less than an hour later, she emerged from her daughter Chelsea’s apartment building looking as “fit as a fiddle.” Still another rumor has it that Chelsea’s apartment includes a special room that is equipped just for her mother’s needs: A standard hospital room, with the bed and all the other related medical appliances one might find in a hospital.

What gives the story “legs” (no pun intended) is that when Hillary did emerge from the apartment building, she seemed to have lost about 20 pounds in the process and had apparently even changed her earrings, even though she seemed to be wearing the same clothes as she previously had worn at the ceremony. But another interesting point was observed which also makes the entire vignette quite a bit more enigmatic: She was alone, not one Secret Service agent or the large black man in suit and tie who is usually always at her side, carrying something that looks a lot like a medical device even though her campaign says it’s only a flashlight (But why is he always carrying it in the daylight)? And worse, she wanders out to the sidewalk and proceeds to hug a young girl, even though she was just diagnosed with contagious pneumonia! As America is temporarily “relieved” to see the candidate recuperate almost instantly to what had seemed to be a severe, life-threatening medical emergency, the cloak of concern simply morphs into one of astonishment. Not to the wonders of modern medical treatments that could work so immediately, but to the question of what is truth, contrasted with what is possibly related to the worlds of sorcery and black magic: A product not of medical technology, but that of the world of ages-old gypsies and grifters: It’s known colloquially as “blue smoke and mirrors.”

Sorry, but I agree that they are using a “body double”.

The tip off is nothing that looks like Secret Service!

Argh!
