NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Saying his hands were tied by law, a federal judge dismissed a class-action lawsuit against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers over levee breaches after Hurricane Katrina, but rebuked the agency for failing to protect the city.

Sovereign Immunity?

“Rebuked” — big deal. They got there paychecks and pensions. The folks get screwed!

The gooferment is just here to protect and serve … … itself!

There is more than meets the eye here, I don’t think we should be so quick to judge the government, or at least the Federal government. As I understand how they got in this mess (well number one is the foolishness of the people for even building in a bowl), but we can look to the local “Levee Chiefs” (that’s not the exact name they were called, it sounded more official than that) who were locally elected by the people living there. The Levee Chief’s job was to oversee the building and maintenance of the levees. The Federal govenment sent money to these ‘chiefs’ to contract the work with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Well where do you think a lot of that money went? Hmmm….exactly, supporters who voted, family members, ‘protectors’, Uncle Herschel, partying, and so on… The mess in New Orleans can be directly attributed to those people who chose to live there, and not the government (spelled correctly in this instance).
