JOBSEARCH: The Turkey Farm

Is my opus on job seeking and my “help” to anyone “transitioning” from unemployment to earning status. fwiw. What an ego to think I can show anyone anything, but I have “miles on the old odometer of life” and the scars of unemployments past to show for it. You may learn from my mistakes.

    I have a job opening sent to me by a present student about his boss leaving for another position.

    Rykodisc Publicity Manager

    * Write and distribute tour alerts for artists currently on tour
    * Write and distribute media alerts for upcoming albums from our artists
    * Send album advances and pitch letters to relevant publications to hep generate press for new releases
    * Conduct album advance follow ups
    * Reach out to major publications; magazines, radio programs, television programs and newspapers to push for CD reviews, event listings, feature stories, etc.
    * Organize press clips and put them together to make press booklets for our artists
    * Knowledge of FileMaker Pro and Burrells Luce media services
    * Oversee interviews and any press requests for various artists

    I’m sure there are more things that she does that I haven’t noticed but these are the tasks that I’ve seen her perform the most.
