News Alert from The Wall Street Journal

*** begin quote ***

The Obama administration is weighing plans to detain some terror suspects on U.S. soil — indefinitely and without trial — as part of a plan to retool military commission trials that were conducted for prisoners held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The proposal being floated with members of Congress is another indication of President Barack Obama’s struggles to establish his counter-terrorism policies, balancing security concerns against attempts to alter Bush-administration practices he has harshly criticized.

Another campaign issue / promise up in smoke.

Don’t real;y care about the lying.

BUT!

THe Bush Admininstration had Gitmo to keep the prisoners from getting Fifth Amendment and other rights.t us, next it

(Using my Judge Judy law degree and reading the Constitution, I think rights are inalienable regardless where on the Earth the government is operating. But my opinion matters not.)

The Obama Adminsitration seems to have a new reading of the Fifth and where it applies.

That scares me!

As Pastor Martin Niemîller taught us, next it woon’t apply to us as they herd us to the camps.

Remember my previous blogs. Just take out the first one and the they will soon run out of thugs.

San Francisco Muni begins to enforce imaginary no-photos policy

The blogger at What I’m Seeing is a prolific photographer of San Francisco’s rapid transit system, and thus has fallen afoul of its imaginary no-photos policy, with a threatened arrest:

What happened to the First Amendment?

The rapid transit is part of the gooferment.

No doubt about that!

New Jersey Church Replaces Pro-Life Signs Defaced in Pro-Abortion Vandalism

Milltown, NJ (LifeNews.com) — A New Jersey Catholic church has replaced the large pro-life signs that adorn a grassy area in front of the church building. The pro-life sign in a lot across from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in the central part of the state was defaced by pro-abortion vandals in December.

*** end quote ***

I know that sign. A simple statement of fact.

Hard to imagine that vandal appreciates the First Amendment.

And, for the “free choice” that was sprayed on it, how is it “free” when I am force to pay for the gooferment’s pro-abortion policies?

It ain’t free. I’m forced to pay for it.

So explain to me, how did I incur this obligation?

I know I have to pay protection money to the various gangs in DC, Trenton, and elsewhere. But how is it “moral”?

Obama legal team wants to limit defendants’ rights
By MARK SHERMAN – 1 day ago

*** begin quote ***

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is asking the Supreme Court to overrule a 23 year-old decision that stopped police from initiating questions unless a defendant’s lawyer is present, the latest stance that has disappointed civil rights and civil liberties groups.

While President Barack Obama has reversed many policies of his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, the defendants’ rights case is another stark example of the White House seeking to limit rather than expand rights.

Are the D’s supposed to be FOR the people and their rights?

CLEARWATER, Fla. – A businessman outraged by perceived government attempts to silence free speech is turning the tables on city officials by posting a giant mural depicting their banning of the First Amendment.

LIBERTY: Rutgers violates all women’s Fourth Amendment rights

Sunday, March 22, 2009

After 9/11, Rutgers University instituted “security”. Theater at its best!

DSCN0145.JPG

Some how the Cure Insurance company advertising SUV is allowed to park right outside. And, I see the handicap bus blocked from dropping off at the front door. And, all those folks have to hike in.

DSCN0147.JPG

Patrons have their bags searched. All patrons. Mostly women. Men gat a pass. I’ve put Frau’s bag under my coat when she’s forgotten to leave it home or in the car.

Security theater!

Let anyone forget. RU is NOT a private business. It’s a State- funded “entity”. As such, it’s gooferment.

Note, when we went to Seton Hall, there was no such “bag check”.

How do we get our rights back, once they are taken away by gooferment?

I don’t know. Do you?

And, do get me started about the ongoing policy of selling bottles of soda but removing the cap. Students once threw them on the court.. After a few spills, smart repeat visitors just bring caps from home. Soda manufacturer put the prizes under the cap. I’ve seen the the vendors checking them. I guess they get to keep the caps that win. So they will be real diligent about “seizing ” the caps. Argh!

Students once staged a sit in on the court. We still have the absurd barriers up to prevent that from reoccurring. Hard on the handicapped and elderly who sit down court–side. Of course, there’s now VIP seating on the other side of that barrier.

It’s absurd!

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Obama’s birth certificate

BORN IN THE USA?
What congressmen say about eligibility
Lawmakers’ letters insist ‘president was born in Hawaii’

By Bob Unruh

*** begin quote ***

Hawaiian officials have confirmed they have a birth certificate on file for Obama, but it cannot be released without his permission. He has refused that permission. And Hawaiian officials have not revealed what information the certificate contains.

*** end quote ***

Well, adjust my tin foil hat and call me kooky.

I guess that makes me a “birthist”.

See the first thing that the media does is give you a label and then they can dismiss you.

My fear is that I guess, like FDR and Pearl Harbor, we’ll have to wait 50 years to find out that O was NOT a US citizen!

Just because they label you, doesn’t make you wrong.

All to often today, they denigrate people who ask, often too politely, WTF!

“Quo Warranto”

Or in my parlance, “sez who!”
See the essence of the argument is the prima facie case, “What are you hiding Mister Obama?”
Until that is answered, it is not moot. It’s a scandal!
So much for “running the most open and transparent government”!

POLITICAL: Abortion is genocide

The George Bailey Effect
Posted: January 31, 2009

By Larry Burkett

Editor’s note: The late Larry Burkett, popular Christian financial counselor and author, penned this article in 1998. It is a compelling “response” to Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent statement that the economy benefits from “family planning.” Joseph Slife contributed to this column.

*** begin quote ***

As the preceding evidence demonstrates, abortion is not simply a matter of private conscience, but of public concern. Abortion-on-demand has effects that are rippling throughout our society and could even threaten our future liberties.

This is why abortion, even if all moral arguments are totally discounted, cannot be ignored in framing public policy. Simply writing off abortion as a “moral” or a “religious” issue is a short-sighted approach that fails to reckon its economic and demographic consequences.

We can’t undo the past, of course. We can’t undo the fact that we have had 35 million George Baileys, people never born, people whose lives were never allowed to touch other lives. Indeed they have left an “awful hole.” But for the sake of our nation’s economic future and national security, as well as its moral character, we must resolve to promote from this time forward an ethic that is pro-family and pro-children. Only then can America continue to have a wonderful life.

*** end quote ***

When Pelosi and the Obama Democrat “liberals” advnace the pro-abortion agenda, everyone has to think of the “George Bailey” effect.

Have we aborted the future of America?

Like a self-imposed genocide.

POLITICAL: Where does the Ron Paul energy go?

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Where does the Ron Paul revolution (i.e., peace, nonintervention, economic freedom, personal liberty, sound money, and a drastically limited government) go?

The shell game of Republican and Democrat bigger gooferment prevents any other “choice”.

Argh!

Vanderboegh: ‘Defiance’ — “Without a rifle, you are nothing”

200902010950.jpg

*** begin quote ***

Though the movie may insert inappropriate comic relief and its versions of the Bielski brothers are at times so incompetent that they would not have survived for a week, let alone for years, it does what Holocaust movies all too often avoid doing, it focuses on the survival. The Germans, when they arrive, are soldiers in gray moving in and out. The locals collaborate or don’t, for their own reasons. There is no moral to be learned, except that if you want to live and want others to live, you must be prepared to do what it takes.

That is the first and foremost lesson of the Holocaust to be learned. For all the unanswered moral, philosophical and theological questions– the bottom line is that millions of Jews were killed, because they could be. The only true defense against a Holocaust is the ability to resist and to survive one.

Before the State of Israel was officially declared, the Bielskis made their own Jewish state in a forest, to live as free men and women mere kilometers from their would be killers, and though like the real state and its real leaders, they may have been flawed, their triumph is not some uplifting moral, but a matter of accomplishment, the 1200 they hid in the forest against all odds, and through determination and hard work, they did not become victims or fatalities, they survived. And through their guidance and efforts so did 1200 others.

No higher praise is needed.

*** end quote ***

Makes me want to see it even more.

Hopefully, this isn’t a portend of things to come in America.

Disarming the people is the first step on a short road to genocide!
