Meal time was extra challenging for this disabled first grader, so a lunch lady made him a custom ‘cafeteria cart’

Cafeteria workers and school food professionals are often among a school’s unsung heroes, putting in long hours to prepare nutritious lunches, and even working over the summer to make sure their students are well-fed.

It’s a wonderful story when ordinary folks make life easier for a disabled child.

BUT, (and there is always a BIG butt), almost everyone is wearing facemasks when now we know that they are not only useless but actually harmful (i.e., bacterial pneumonia’ children need to see facial expressions).

What can one expect from the liberal socialist State of Oregon.

So sad.

Kudos and jeers all at the same time.

SURVIVAL: Get out of bad weather road conditions

100 vehicles involved in Oregon highway pileup in treacherous whiteout conditions

A highway pileup involving 100 vehicles, including big rigs, grinded an Oregon highway to a destructive halt during a nasty whiteout snowstorm Thursday, according to authorities.

The series of crashes caused a SUV fire and closed a part of Interstate-84 where numerous drivers and passengers were trapped in their vehicles late morning, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.

*** and ***

The conditions were so treacherous the Oregon Department of Transportation closed the highway in both directions between La Grande and Baker City – a stretch of roughly 50 miles between the two cities.

“Closures are due to blowing and drifting snow with visibility less than 500 feet,” the state DOT wrote before later reopening that section.

Lucky that no one was killed or seriously injured.  First rule in survival training was “AWARENESS”.

Did these folks not realize the danger of the weather?

Visibility of less than 500 feet didn’t happen because the weather gods waved a magic wand.  I’ve driven some costal roads, even in Oregon, and fog can be just around the next bend.

At 30 MPH, and 10 second reaction time, you’ve used up your 500 feet.

And, seriously who goes 30?

The other night was a passenger in car and all the drivers in the car thought 15 was fast.  Yet we were being passed by drivers doing far in excess of 50.  No way they could stop on an ice covered road.  Even at 15, we could all feel the slip of the tires on gentle curves.

I guess I’m getting old.  But, I think drivers in the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee are all insane!

SURVIVAL: Sasquatch hunt by the unprepared ends badly

Two men found dead after searching for sasquatch in national forest

Two Oregon men who ventured into the woods of Washington state on a Christmas Eve hunt for Sasquatch have been found dead, authorities confirmed on Saturday.

*** and ***

With no signs of foul play or injury, authorities speculate that the pair’s lack of preparation for the extreme weather may have led to their deaths.

The Sheriff’s Office pointed out that the weather conditions and the men’s inadequate gear were major factors in the fatal outcome.

The pair’s ill-fated trip began on Christmas Eve when they set out to search for Sasquatch, the elusive creature of folklore often said to roam the forests of the Pacific Northwest.

*** end quote ***

How many times do we have to read: “lack of preparation”?

Don’t humans recognize how fragile we really are?

And having done a two week USAF survival school in the Pacific Northwest under very carefully supervised experienced instructors, I know first hand it’s no picnic.  I was there in October and I was cold, wet, and hungry for most of the two weeks.  I saw all sorts of rookie mistakes  — can’t build a fire with wet wood, can’t camping a ravine that is really a dry stream, and certainly can’t catch small wildlife or protect from big (hungry?) wildlife.  And this was under very controlled conditions.

Can imagine just going for a nice December stroll looking for Sasquatch?

What were they planning to do if they found it?

Argh!  Not good to talk ill of the dead, but there is a lesson in this for all such Sasquatch hunters.  Don’t!

RANT: Anyone want to argue that the non-profit NCAA is nothing more than the NFL “farm teams”?

College Football Playoffs

The field for the inaugural 12-team college football playoff was revealed yesterday, with Big Ten champion Oregon capturing the top seed. The Ducks are followed by No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Boise State, and No. 4 Arizona State, with each of the top four receiving a first-round bye.

Under the new system, the opening round will have the higher-seeded teams host games on campus: No. 5 Texas will host No. 12 Clemson; No. 6 Penn State will welcome No. 11 SMU; No. 7 Notre Dame faces No. 10 Indiana; and No. 8 Ohio State will take on No. 9 Tennessee. The biggest debate of selection day was SMU, which lost the ACC championship on a last-second field goal, nudging out Alabama.

A significant amount of money is at stake. Roughly $115M will be distributed across the conferences based on which teams advance (see details).

The first round will be held Friday, Dec. 20, and Saturday, Dec. 21. See the full schedule of bowl games here; see a playoff bracket here.

Sorry but all this chatter about “non-profit”, “amateur athletes”, and “student athletes” is just a “Barbara Streisand” smoke screen for Gooferment Skrules to rake in big bucks from “We, The Sheeple”.

Time to divest “education” from “entertainment”.

Argh!  Now that “amateur athletes” can make big bucks from “Name, Image, and Likeness”, lets cut the <synonym for excrement> and stop fooling everyone.

This is nothing more than gambling by Gooferment institutions using Taxpayer money and defrauding those same Taxpayers at the same time.

If you use my Tax dollars, then you can’t use them for anything but “education”!  Privatize these “State Actors” away from the font of Taxpayer money.

A blind hiker and his guide dog are safe after being rescued by a US Coast Guard helicopter crew when they became stranded for days in the heat on an Oregon hiking trail.

The US Coast Guard Pacific Northwest announced an aircrew had rescued a 55-year-old man and his dog from the Rogue River Trail in southwest Oregon.

The hiker, who officials said is legally blind, began hiking the trail with a friend and his guide dog July 3 and began to show symptoms of heat exhaustion July 6.

Officials said that, due to lack of cellphone service, the friend left the unidentified man and his dog with food and water and headed toward Gold Beach to call 911.

Didn’t they have an Apple phone with satellite capability or a satellite phone?   Guess not.  Who pays for the rescue?

Sigh!  The taxpayer.

A 66-year-old Safeway employee who took on a mass shooter with a produce knife could have escaped with his life, police said Tuesday, but instead hid and attempted to disarm the assailant – an action they said likely saved several others.

Police are now hailing Donald Ray Surrett Jr. as a hero – as it was revealed the staffer at the Bend, Oregon, store was a decorated Army veteran with more than two decades of service.

The attack saw the lives of Surrett and another army vet, aged 84, snuffed out, after a 20-year-old gunman armed with an AR-15 stormed the Central Oregon store Sunday night, before ultimately taking his own life.

Greater love hath no man then … …

In this specific case, the vet KNEW the odds were against him, but took the chance.

All I can do is just silently pray for this good man and his self-sacrifice.

POLITICAL: Nullification is Constitutional and effective; as is Secession if we’re will to fight

Surprise, the Mainstream Media is Wrong Again: Yes, Nullification Does Work

*** begin quote ***

You don’t have to dig into a history book to prove nullification works. I can prove it does with one word.

Weed.

In 1996, California voters approved Proposition 215, the Compassionate Use Act, authorizing the possession, cultivation, and use of cannabis (marijuana) for limited medical use.

The federal government claims the power to strictly enforce a total prohibition of marijuana. It makes no exception for medical purposes. Despite federal law, states have advanced the issue each year. This has happened in spite of a 2005 Supreme Court opinion supporting federal prohibition, and a relentless year-to-year increase in spending and enforcement efforts by the federal government.

Today, despite ongoing attempts to enforce federal prohibition, 21 states and Washington D.C. have legalized marijuana for medical use, and 14 states and D.C. have decriminalized marijuana possession. Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon and Washington State have all legalized marijuana for recreational use. Each year, new state laws and regulations help expand the market, and each expansion further nullifies the unconstitutional federal ban in effect.

No matter what the mainstream tells you, nullification works. History proves this. The present proves this. And we will continue to prove it in the future.

*** end quote ***

Marijuana was outlawed to protect Hearst’s paper factories from competition. Fueled by that racist and untrue “Reeffer Madness”, “We, The Sheeple” were stampeded into another attempt at “Prohibition”.

Any prohibition doesn’t work. It merely raises the cost to the consumer and allows politicians and bureaucrats to exert more un-Constitutional control over “We, The Sheeple”.

Argh!
