NEWJERSEY: Mikie Sherrill’s voting record is bad news for the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee

If given the chance? Sherrill will turn N.J. into a giant Charlotte light rail train.

I don’t care what a politician says, Save Jerseyans.

Especially once they’ve developed a record? I care what they actually do, and Mikie Sherrill’s voting record in the U.S. House of Representatives gives me reason to believe she’d be a law-and-order DISASTER as New Jersey governor.

New Jersey is already struggling under the current cashless bail regime, and as the stomach-churning murder of a young immigrant woman on Charlotte’s light rail system vividly illustrates, the consequences of having a leaders who aren’t tough on criminals are inevitably fatal.

Typical “democrat” soft on everything important!

For a veteran and pilot, I’d have expected a more realistic platform and record.

Not that the R is much better.

Argh!

To quote from the movie “The Far Side of the World” Master and Commander Capt. Jack Aubrey: “There! I have you! You’re completely dished. … one must always choose the lesser of two weevils?”

It’s just about as significant.

NEWJERSEY: What was he doing out after ONE DWI charge?

Journalist ratioed for declaring illegal alien fatal DWI suspect (with two prior arrests this year) had “largely clean driving record”
August 14, 2025 Matt Rooney

*** begin quote ***

His conviction record may be light? After all, he came here illegally from somewhere else! But to suggest a man with three pending DWI charges in a single year has a “largely clean” driving record is, at best, grossly manipulative particularly since the debate is over whether Phil Murphy’s sanctuary statehood regime prevented this asshole from being deported; had he been deported after either of the other alleged DWIs this year, then a mother and her child would still be alive today.

*** end quote ***

What was he doing out after ONE DWI charge?

If I was the judge, I’d have found a way to keep him off the road.  And, after the third charge, I’d say he was a “near and present” danger, and needed “quarantining”.

Lock him up until the trials.

Argh!

And, maybe the judge should be recalled or retired?

Argh!

NEWJERSEY: Is NJ doomed to become more unaffordable?

Monday, March 11, 2024

10 not-so-fun facts about Phil Murphy’s FY 2025 budget

February 27, 2024 Matt Rooney state budget

*** begin quote ***

  • Notwithstanding taxes rising again (see below), Murphy’s budget includes a $1.8 billion structural deficit and a $5 billion deficit over two years.
  • We were told that the corporate business tax surcharge had sunset, but Governor Murphy wants to retroactively tack a 2.5% tax (the “Corporate Transit Fee”) on state businesses effective January 1st. It’s a clear break with his Election 2021 promise to not raise taxes in his second term, and its purposed goal is to save NJ Transit from complete collapse. Good luck.

*** and ***

  • The StayNJ program – Election 2023’s big gimmick – is getting a relatively paltry $200 million infusion.

*** end quote ***

Not that it matters much who you vote for or against, the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee blunders along to be joke of the world in terms of affordability.  I can’t believe that ANYONE stays here if you have any other choices.

Sigh!

NEWJERSEY: Repeal the 17th Amendment; like alcohol prohibiition and the “war on some drugs” it was just a mistake

Is this really the best we can do?
November 16, 2023 Matt Rooney Election 2024 0

*** begin quote ***

Direct election of U.S. senators wasn’t always the case; it was viewed as a necessary reform. One infamous instance in the late 19th century involved our immediate neighbor to the south (Delaware) lacking representation in the U.S. Senate for two whole years owing to an epic impasse in its state legislature. Reformers believed, perhaps understandably, that the people would produce better results than the bosses and their hand-chosen state representatives.

The law of unintended consequences had other ideas. Cory Booker is no Daniel Webster, folks, as if you needed me to tell you!

*** and ***

A crook, an evil queen and an empty suit (who donated his suit to the Smithsonian).

Is this the best we can do? Really?

Even for New Jersey, notorious for making questionable electoral choices, this primary constitutes a new low. We’re slumming it and it shows in the results.

*** end quote ***

Time to get out the Constitutional Eraser and repeal a bunch of “amendments” the 16th, 17th, 25th, 26th, and 27th.

While we are at it, time to enact  term limits on ALL elective federal offices to ZERO consecutive terms in the same office.  And, let’s put some teeth in the 9th and 10th!

Argh!

POLITICAL: Repeal the 17th and use their Home State discipline them

Sunday, October 30, 2022

REPORT: Menendez under investigation… again?
October 26, 20221 min read Matt Rooney

*** begin quote ***

Allegations of unethical (or worse) behavior have dogged Bob Menendez for as long as he’s been in Washington. His 2017 bribery trial ended in a mistrial.

Is he under investigation… again?

According to Kadia Goba of Semafor, “[p]rosecutors in the Southern District of New York have contacted people connected to [U.S. Senator] Menendez in recent weeks” and “have sent at least one subpoena in the case.”

*** end quote ***

Remember when US Senators were held to high standards by their State Legislators?  One wiff of scandal or impropriety and they were recalled and replaced.

There also were no such things as “unfunded mandates”.

Argh!

Repeal the 17th and eliminate “carpetbagging” and cut some of the money going into elections!

NEWJERSEY: Don’t make “school safety” a political football

Wednesday, June 1, 2022

N.J. Democrats block GOP school safety bill
May 26, 20222 Matt Rooney

*** begin quote ***

How serious are Trenton Democrats about confronting school safety in the wake of another gut-wrenching school shooting, this time in Uvalde, Texas?

I think you know the answer, Save Jerseyans.

On Thursday, Trenton Democrats blocked a bill (A303) sponsored by Assemblywoman Kim Eulner (R-11) to improve school safety training. A probe is presently underway concerning the police response to the Uvalde shooting amid allegations that the police were unprepared.

Democrat Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin promptly blocked the motion. Assemblyman John McKeon, also a Democrat, claimed that the motion was out-of-order. Speaker Coughlin ultimately refused to move the bill to second reading.

Unfortunately politicians and bureaucrats don’t think in terms of what is best for “We, The Sheeple”.

As a gun owning pro-life pro-choice little L libertarian, I don’t like the whole concept of Gooferment Skrules. BUT, (and there is always a BIG butt), if “we” have to have them, then they should be like Fort Knox — unassailable.

If the Trenton Democrats have some valid objection to the bill — I can’t imagine what it is — they have an obligation to publicly voice them and propose their own version.  No one can argue that the police in mass shootings seems to be focused on containment and chalk lines.

Personally, I have made note of these names and will remind “We, The Sheeple” when it’s time to vote of their actions.  Maybe it won’t make a difference in the vote totals, but, to quite Donald J. Trump’s immortal line from the Apprentice — “You’re fired”.
