Viral TikTok videos claim to show a long line of trucks who are ‘boycotting’ Colorado by driving round it and refusing to enter the state over the 110-year jail sentence of a fellow driver who caused a huge crash that killed four on a Colorado interstate.

Rogel Aguilera-Mederos, 26, was driving a semi on April 25, 2019 down Interstate 70 in Lakewood, Colorado, when he crashed into two dozen vehicles – including four other semi-trucks stuck in rush-hour traffic. The impact caused a fireball explosion that incinerated cars and trucks and killed four people.

According to TikTok videos, fellow drivers are now refusing to enter the state as a way to denounce the sentence they’ve deemed harsh and unfair.

Here’s an alternative to “jury nullification”.

Wonder how long before Colorado folds?

I bet it’s less than a week.  Imagine gas stations with no gas or food stores with no deliveries.

And, I would want to be a driver that crossed their picket line.

Last time I remember anything this big was when the movie Convoy made a laughing stock of all the police that hassled truckers with lame tickets.

LIBERTY: When juries start to nullify, then things will change

Want to Go to Jail? Stop Filing Your Income Tax Forms.

A lot of leaders in the tax protest movement have done jail time for their consistency. They did what they told others to do. They are now convicted felons with no money.

Some are still in jail. Irwin Schiff is one of them. He may get out in two years. He has been in jail since 2006. Are you ready to imitate him? Read this first.

Trusting laymen in the tax revolt movement are often unaware of just how consistently the IRS has gained convictions.

There are always exceptions, but the pattern is clear: juries normally convict. These protesters use arcane language and references to tax law cases that do not apply. It does them no good. These people jabber in jailhouse lawyer babble, and then they wind up in jail. They really do become jailhouse lawyers.

I prefer to not engage in Phyrric Victories, Don Quixote quests, or fights that I can’t win.

Income taxes are like that category.

As a little L libertarian, I think that the Gooferment is immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. Taxes are theft.

BUT, (and there is always a BIG butt), until juries refuse to enforce the Income Tax diktats, I’ll kowtow.

Like the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs”, tyranny will end when the Sheeple and Clovers no longer convict.

That why I never get on juries. I want to see a victim. The Gooferment, its politicians and bureaucrats, are NOT victims. They are the aggressors.

Argh!

RANT: Open email to Jim Gearhart on Christie and pot

Tuesday, June 9, 2015

Jim:

I was listening this morning about the Guv pontificating on enforcing Federal Pot laws.

Maybe at ‘Ask the Guv’, someone should ask him where in the Constitution’s enumerated powers, the Federal Gooferment gets to “regulate” drugs.

“We, The Sheeple” learn nothing — not from VietNam, not from Prohibition and on and on.

I wrote this week’s KONK Life column yesterday. Got it out a day early. Don’t know where the energy came from.

The title is Portugal The Blueprint.

Portugal legalized drugs in 2001. All drugs. Even the real bad stuff like cocaine and heroin. Fourteen years later, the results are amazing. Drug problems significantly down in every area. Jails closing because there are not enough criminals to occupy them.

You will find the article interesting. Perhaps something the U.S. should consider.

I am a little L libertarian and completely agree with ending the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs”. It’s a MEDICAL problem; not a legal problem.

My exemplar is Prohibition that created organized crime. (We got Prohibition because women regained the right to vote, but that it another rant.) Once Prohibition was repealed, there is no violence between Budweiser and Miller employees. And, “organized crime” had to move on to other prohibited substances.

Remember why Prohibition was repealed? Jury nullification.

Prosecutors could get a jury to convict any one on booze arrests; that’s why they had to get Al Capone on Tax Evasion.

So regardless of what the Gooferment, the politicians, or the bureaucrats say, American Juries can put an end to this nonsense all by themselves. No victim; no crime. Sorry. A juror doesn’t have to explain or even talk; just vote “not guilty” and this house of cards will come tumbling down. Argh!

What does an out of work Columbian or inner city drug lord do for a living?

AND, furthermore, the FDA should be in an ADVISORY role.

Leave “drugs” to the medical profession and people to figure it out themselves.

IMHO,
fjohn

p.s., I’ve left NJ because I couldn’t afford to die here. With no kids, the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee would tax my estate 30%. Ask the Guv why it’s OK to rob the dead?
