And, when you think of the tax money that subsidizes the “games”, well, that just sends me over the edge.

Sorry, but it’s all just so trivial in perspective imho.

Fannie-Freddie Fix at $160 Billion With $1 Trillion Worst Case
By Lorraine Woellert and John Gittelsohn

*** begin quote ***

Fannie and Freddie, now 80 percent owned by U.S. taxpayers, already have drawn $145 billion from an unlimited line of government credit granted to ensure that home buyers can get loans while the private housing-finance industry is moribund. That surpasses the amount spent on rescues of American International Group Inc., General Motors Co. or Citigroup Inc., which have begun repaying their debts.

You have to be kidding me. When will we cut our losses on this disaster?

Surly even the politicians can see what a disaster this is. And, who are the other 20%? Politically connected friends? Argh!

RANT: Without SSN there’d be no such thing as “identity theft”

Is Google The Biggest Threat Yet to Your Privacy?

*** begin quote ***

Of course, in many cases we don’t have much choice about giving out that personal data. You can’t just tell the doctor’s office “no” when they ask for your social security number and other personal info – not if you want to get treatment. You have to give that info to your bank because you need a bank account in order to pay your bills and cash your paychecks (sure, it’s possible to survive without one, but it’s not very convenient in today’s world).

However, many people also give out a lot of information that it’s not mandatory to reveal. I am also surprised at how many people put their full dates of birth and their cell phone numbers on their Facebook profiles, visible to the public. Date of birth is a piece of information that’s very valuable to identity thieves, and if you don’t have an “unlimited” plan, anyone who has your cell number can “text bomb” you and cost you hundreds of dollars.

*** end quote ***

Argh!

Darn FDR and his Social Security Insurance scheme. Like a Ponzi scheme that you’re force to participate in.

It gave the Feds their universal identifier.

How many people remember that the original SSI cards said “Not for identification purposes”?

We are such boobs. The politicians and bureaucrats lied.

And, we bear the brunt of it.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

You don’t OWN your name or your SSN!

It should be copyrighted, trademarked, or patented. So you can control it.

But most of all we shouldn’t have it at all!

RANTING: Opened sold as new

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Went to WalMart to get a smaller table and cheap printer.

Had some “excitement” with the old lady, but that’s another story.

Got the printer home! It was only 40$. (Yeah, I know they screw you on the ink.)

And, the printer doesn’t work.

It’s been used and repackaged.

I knew it when I opened the box. The plastic around it was not like a factory seal.

The contents aren’t right. Stuff is missing. And the cartridges are either gone or in the machine.

I’m pissed that this is another example of a return sold as new. I didn’t think WalMart did that. I know Officemax, Staples, and Office Depot do.

And it had a very complicated anti-theft device around it. So that means the Store has to have done it!

Back it goes today.

Very disappointing WalMart. I thought you were above that. At least Best Buy has an open box sale area and you know it’s not brand spanking new.

GAMBLING: “Wheels” are not equally probably

THOUGHTS ABOUT CASINOS AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS

Wheels are an inherently an “unfair gambling practice”.

You see the Big Wheel and you know that all the values are equally probable. The promise meets reality.

However on the Wheel of Fortune, and all the other slots where that’s a bonus, it’s not true.

The implication is that the results are all equally possible outcomes and they are not.

That’s deceptive.

And, should not be allowed or patronized.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: SEC, an incompetent regulator

The report shows a clear pattern of incompetence at the SEC. RANT: Celebrities are are all images; no substance

Can the Holy Swoosh Save the Tiger Woods Career Brand?

*** begin quote ***

Have you seen the new Nike ad with Tiger Woods featuring the voice of his deceased father? It looks like Tiger may have added some new brand attributes to his already tarnished image including, creepy, odd, and opportunistic. And I’m wondering if Nike and Tiger would have been better off just leaving the scandal alone and letting time heal some of the wounds.

*** end quote ***

No, the “squeaky clean shine” on Woods can’t be recovered. He can be a force in golf. He can sell stuff. He can even become a nice guy. But he’s lost the “image”. His clay feet have cost him dearly. People, the great unwashed like me, don’t like frauds. You can be as nasty an SOB as you like, but don’t claim (or allow to be claimed for you) sainthood. Celebrities like Jane Fonda, Rosie O’Donnell, and Tiger have defrauded the pblic by claiming to be one thing and acting privately like another. People remember the adage: “fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on be me.” With celebrities, it seems the Sheeple are doomed to be disappointed. And, people wonder why we’ve become cynical?

FOOTNOTE:

Jane Fonda: Anti-war sits in a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun. I, and many other vets, never forgot that.

Rosie O’Donnell: The Queen of Nice, after she made a fortune on her daytime audience and retired, morphed into a nasty lesbian who demonstrated that the TV personality was a fraud.

Tiger Woods: Squeaky clean image was put to shame by a string of affairs worthy of an NBA player. At least the NBA players never claimed sainthood.

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s civil action against Goldman Sachs is a certified crowd-pleaser, and based on two iron principles — that you never argue with the audience’s taste and that everybody who has ever worked for Goldman Sachs needs to be executed without trial — it’s probably not something we should be disputing too heavily.

*** end quote ***

Why do I feel this is kabuki?

Is Goldman Sachs now playing the role of the New York Generals? Or the Boston Shamrocks, New Jersey Reds, Baltimore Rockets, or Atlantic City Seagulls. Or any one of another patsies? Playing to the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Harlem Globetrotters!

We KNOW that Goldman Sachs is wired to the administration through little tax-cheat Timmy G.

We KNOW that Goldman Sachs has been “fronting” for the FED to allow them to appear to sell Treasury securities while buying them back the next day. Thus they are monetizing the debt. This is exactly what the Chinese fear. It’s hiding inflation.

We KNOW that Goldman Sachs has been manipulating the commodities markets. Specifically, the gold and silver markets. This could only happen with the CFTC and European participation.

So now you want me to believe that the SEC is going to take Goldman Sachs to the woodshed on trading losers to others knowing that the residential market was going to fall out of bed.

Please don’t make me laff!

Argh!

Corruption abounds.

Sorry, but I think this is “regulatory theater”! “Made-off” gave the SEC a black eye. And, Dodd’s “reregulation bill” is being laughed at. So some kabuki is in order to fool the Sheeple into believing in big gooferment again. So let’s trot out our captive resident Freddie Kruger and have the valiant SEC bureaucrats do battle to slay this dragon.

Goldman Sachs will probably plead out and be fined. And, the SEC will probably allow them to pay the fine with Confederate States of America Banknotes.

Foreclosure With millions of foreclosures reported in 2009, the possibility of a bank foreclosing on the wrong house becomes more and more likely. POLITICAL: Social Security; a Ponzi scheme benefiting politicians and bureaucrats

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

*** begin quote ***

Q4: Is it true that Social Security was originally just a retirement program?

A: Yes. Under the 1935 law, what we now think of as Social Security only paid retirement benefits to the primary worker. A 1939 change in the law added survivors benefits and benefits for the retiree’s spouse and children. In 1956 disability benefits were added.

Keep in mind, however, that the Social Security Act itself was much broader than just the program which today we commonly describe as “Social Security.” The original 1935 law contained the first national unemployment compensation program, aid to the states for various health and welfare programs, and the Aid to Dependent Children program.

And he cited a stunning stat: A 42-year-old state government worker in New Jersey who gets a 20-year pension has paid in all of $124,000—and will take out $3.8 million in payments and health coverage for the rest of his life.

This simply can’t continue, yet few other politicians are talking about the government pension bubble that could bankrupt some cities. A new report from the Pew Center on the States says states have promised to pay $3.35 trillion to current and retired workers—and are running $1 trillion short in funding that obligation.

The worst-off state: President Obama’s home state of Illinois, which has funded only 54% of what it will have to pay out. Unions now represent 40% of all government workers, and they are especially powerful at the local and state levels. Given the Dems’ union ties, ya gotta question whether benefit cuts are a viable option, as I wrote about here.

But I now hold out new hope, thanks to Gov. Christie of New Jersey. He brings a fresh new face and a voluble, emphatic voice to politics. Let us pray we hear a lot more from him.

*** end quote ***

Politicians “adding” part time jobs into lucrative pensions at the taxpayers’ expense is also a big problem.

Time to shift to something that resembles private industry.

(1) No defined benefit pensions for anyone.

(2) Eliminate ALL abuses.

(3) 401ks for everyone. “Recognition bonds” for all unfunded liabilities. Use rock solid Insurance Companies to protect both the employees and taxpayers.

*** begin quote ***

The idea behind reconciliation is for the House to approve the Senate bill, which contains massive abortion funding and other pro-abortion problems. Then, both the Senate and House would approve a “corrections” bill that would make change…s to the Senate bill (but not revoking the abortion funding) so members of the House are more likely to vote for the Senate bill.

*** end quote ***

Just like when the R’s shot themselves in the foot with the “Two Term” amendment to prevent FDR from running again (He died anyway before he could run again!), the D’s — if they use reconciliation — will load the gun and aim it at their own foot. Eventually the R’s will have the “controls” and will use reconcilliation again to “rahm” something through!

Turn about is “fair play”. The worm always turns! And, the taxpayer always gets screwed. Sheeple!

Obama Promises $100 Million in Aid for Haiti
Posted by Laurence Vance on January 17, 2010 05:12 PM

*** begin quote ***

It sure is easy to spend money when it is not your own. How charitable of Obama to donate $100 million of other people’s money. But shouldn’t America do something to help Haiti? No, America shouldn’t do anything. This $100 million comes out of the pockets of American taxpayers. In a free society, no one should be forced to fund foreign aid to any country for any reason. But what about individual Americans, shouldn’t they do something? Individual Americans may do something and can do something, but it would be wrong to say that they should do something. Who is to say whether John Doe on Main Street in Topeka, Kansas, should donate to the Haiti relief effort? It would be nice if he did, but only God alone can say that he should.

*** end quote ***

This is how I felt when I first heard it — robbed!

There are a lot charities that deserve our support. Voluntarily! SUre, President Obama can pledge 100 million. It’s not “HIS” 100 Million. It was ours.

I have less problem sending some of the military to help out. Like a hospital ship. Like “spare” troops sitting idle, “guarding” Arlington. But we have several wars going on.

I have no problem with VOLUNTARY charities. I do have a problem with “charities” that have no connection to Haiti that are soliciting. And, those with HIGH administrative rake-off. And, those like UNICEF that have an agenda.

I pray for the poor people of Haiti. But, you have to admit that the political corruption down there has made it a worse disaster.

That delay could let President Barack Obama preserve a key 60th vote for his health care overhaul even if the Republican who has vowed to kill it wins Democrat Edward M. Kennedy’s former seat.

Secretary of State William F. Galvin, citing state law, says city and town clerks must wait at least 10 days for absentee ballots to arrive before they certify the results of the Jan. 19 election. They then have five more days to file the returns with his office.

Galvin bypassed the provision in 2007 so his fellow Democrats could gain a House vote they needed to override a veto of then-Republican President George W. Bush, but the secretary says U.S. Senate rules would preclude a similar rush today.

What a bunch of “barbara streisand”!

Special place in hell for the bender of the laws?

It’s corrupt and beyond the pale. Guess there’s no “play fair” in Democratic politics.

Fake Catholic Groups Resurface in Health Care-Abortion Funding Debate

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — They led the way in confusing Catholic voters about the pro-abortion record and views of presidential candidate Barack Obama. Now the fake Catholic groups that claim to be pro-life but advance the pro-abortion agenda are back — this time in the national debate over health care and abortion funding.

Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good proved that adding “Catholic” to the name of an organization could get one media attention — and condemnation from pro-life Catholics who knew better.

Guess we need some official board for who can use the word “catholic”. Do Coke and Pepsi have these types of problem?

SEATTLE — As the secretary and treasurer of Falcon Construction, Michelle Bielaski was supposed to turn over to the IRS taxes withheld from employee paychecks.

Instead, the 48-year-old Bellevue, Wash., woman spent the money herself — $2.5 million of it.

Now she’s been sentenced to 15 months in prison and ordered to pay the taxes back in restitution.

I’m sure the gooferment doesn’t like a thief stealing its loot!

Serious, was she sentenced for the theft? In which case, the article’s title is wrong.

Where is she going ot get 2.5M$ for restitution?

And, based on what little I know, I bet the construction company has to pay the 2.5M$ to the IRS. So I guess a bankruptcy is in their future.

I just find this “interesting” on so many levels.

Subprime Credit Card Issuer Raising Interest Rate To 79.9%

*** begin quote ***

In a recent mailing for a preapproved card, First Premier lowers fees to just that limit — $75 in the first year for a credit line of $300. But the new law doesn’t set a cap on interest rates. Hence the 79.9% APR, up from the previous 9.9%.

Good law!

People can’t look to the gooferment for protection.

Self-defense is only course.

Worse than the Mafia?

NEWJERSEY: Unfunded liabilities

Public employees doing very well, thank you
Rick Moran

Unfunded liabilities from these pension plans is in the trillions of dollars with taxpayers on the hook for the balance. It isn’t just “unsustainable.” It is a catastrophe waiting to happen. The entire system in California and other states could collapse if the stock market tanks again, as much of the pension money is invested in financial instruments – some of them incredibly risky.

*** end quote ***

Public pension SHOULD be 403b, 401k, or just plain old IRAs.

Why should the donut eaters ride on the backs of poor taxpayers?

Why should the cost of “public education” drive old people from their homes?

Why in New Jersey am I de facto renting my property from the State?

Argh!

p.s., Hey NJ State employees: Your union and the politicians are screwing you by having NOT made a pension contribution in decades. Argh!
