Sleazy Democrat governor pre-emptively pardoned friend’s killer son hours before jury convicted him of hit-and-run death of pedestrian, 76

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy pre-emptively pardoned the killer son of his lawyer friend hours before a jury convicted him of killing an elderly man in a hit-and-run.

As part of his 97 pardons granted on Tuesday, the Democrat exonerated Harris Jacobs shortly before a jury found him guilty of fatally hitting Orlando Fraga, 76, with his car in September 2022.

*** and ***

According to Barbone, his client was informed by the state attorney that a pardon would be granted at 7:30 a.m. The pardon was officially issued at 8.30am by Murphy.

Barbone told the Daily Mail ‘we did not have it by the time the jury announced it had a verdict at 10am.’

Because the conviction came in, Harris’s legal team is working to vacate it ‘based on proof the pardon was granted prior to the jury’s verdict,’ Barbone added.

OK, enough of this political nonsense.  The “Governor”, and by extension the President, is not a “king” who can dispense “pardons” without any check or balance.

Let’s start with the autopen Biden pardons, and move along to Murphy’s last minute signing of what’s described as hundreds. Fact and

The autopen espisode should mean that pardons can ONLY be signed in person during a joint session of the Legislature.  That should solve the problem of authenticity and volume of pardons.

The last minute signing frenzy means that the public may only find out after the fact and may not have the opportunity to inform their “representatives” of their opinion.

We should know what rationale was used to “grant” a pardon.  Was there a quid pro quo before or after?  Was there some “great injustice” that needed to be remedied?  Was it to recognize that a “wrong” needed to be “righted”?

When I am “king” I will have jury of my citizens advise on specific cases.

I should I’ve so long!

DISCOURAGING: “A bloke’s been murdered in the street.” — Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan goes nuclear on gleeful ex-WaPo reporter Taylor Lorenz for saying she felt ‘joy’ after death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson

Piers Morgan was left in shock after gleeful former Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz said she felt ‘joy’ following the death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

On Monday night, Lorez joined Morgan on Piers Morgan Uncensored, as the broadcaster questioned her about her controversial social media posts following Thompson being gunned down in Manhattan on Wednesday.

*** and ***

‘Should they all be killed, these healthcare executives? Would that make you even more joyful?,’ he asked.

Lorenz laughed and then said: ‘Uh, no,’ as Morgan asked her ‘Well, why not?’

‘Why are you laughing? You seem to find the whole thing hilarious. A bloke’s been murdered in the street. I don’t find it funny at all.’

*** end quote ***

As a little L libertarian, I don’t often agree with Piers Morgan but from time to time, he is right on target.

How can you laugh at the murder of anyone?

There are humans who are so broken that it’s hard to feel compassion (i.e., murderer, rapists, genocidal maniacs, the insane).  But we should feel sadness every time an irreplaceable life has been lost.

While some deaths are wither unavoidable or unforeseen, deliberately killing anyone is a very serious matter.  That’s why we have jury trials.

But as a pro-life little L libertarian, I’m anti-death penalty for anyone. Gooferment can’t be trusted with the power to end someone’s life.  Maybe if a convict is too dangerous to put in prison, then maybe it’s morally justifiable.

Left liberals seem to be the only ones who thing that insurance company executives are so evil as to be joyfully murdered.

Argh!

Piers is right on this one.  Again, he and I are on the same page.

Wells Fargo fires a dozen employees for pretending to work – here’s how they tried to get away with it

Dozens of Wells Fargo employees were fired after the bank investigated claims that they were pretending to work.

The workers, who were all employed in the firm’s wealth and investment management unit, were let go last month after it was discovered they were allegedly involved in ‘simulation of keyboard activity,’ Bloomberg reported Thursday.

According to disclosures filed with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the former employees were ‘creating an impression of active work’ through simulation tools.

Back when I had a life, I supervised big and small groups.  Often, geographically spread across the USA and in one assignment globally.  Early in my career, I hated “evaluations”.  So I turned it into a game.  I’d ask the employee or consultant how they would like to be managed?  Most were in favor of a “low touch; high autonomy” environment.  Me 2!  So, I’d ask them for objective criteria that they could use to demonstrate productivity and thus high ratings.

Later, AT&T came up with “ratings and rankings” to merge groups of employees’ performance across divisions and departments.  That was right up our strong suit.  When you could make statements like: “Joe cleared 95% of his tickets in less than and hour with high end User satisfaction ratings” or “Jane completed over 700 security exceptions with a MTTR of 4 hours and has received 36 positive User feedback emails to the Division Head from his counterpart.”  It was easy to justify that “my” Joe or Jane was “better” than  “their” Sam or Sarah. If “my” people didn’t get that “Outstanding” rating  — which meant more salary or bonus money and promotions  — I could tell them why and they could come up with their own “improvement plans”.  Win for them and win for me.

I got high ratings for employee performance, morale, attendance, safety, and all sort of other stuff.  And, I was always AMAZED that “leadership” never asked me how I did it.  Which was fine with me.  I was happy to keep my “special sauce” secret.

In looking for a “job”, sell your past successes “objectively” and in metrics that focus on creating value for others.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: I don’t think he udestand what “capitalism” means!

A liberal San Francisco supervisor has blamed capitalism for the city’s sprawling homeless issue and said that it’s ‘counterproductive’ to arrest people openly doing drugs in public.

Dean Preston, the Supervisor representing District 5, has also been very open about his support for the ‘defund the police’ movement.

‘I think we have a very, very bloated police budget. All kinds of waste in the police department. I mean, I could cut a hundred million dollars out of the police department,’ he said in a recent clip shared online from the UnHerd documentary.

Drug prohibition is certainly not “capitalism”.

And, “defunding the police” means let criminals run wild robbing, killing, and terrorizing “We, The Sheeple”.

This is the shocking moment a pedestrian was robbed at a Chicago intersection by a rifle-wielding gang.

The incident took place on September 23, but surveillance video of the scene was just revealed on Wednesday after the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communication refused to release it.

As the woman made her way across the six-way intersection at 4.45am, a silver sedan pulled up as one suspect pointed the gun at her and the others shook her down.

INTERESTING: Houston forced nonprofits to work together?

Monday, November 27, 2023

How one Dem-run city SOLVED its homelessness crisis…and did it on the cheap: Houston forced nonprofits to work together, then exploited city’s loose planning regulations to build one-bed apartments for vagrants

  •     A collective effort made of 100 different nonprofits has found a way to get apartments for homeless people
  •      In the past dozen years, 30,000 homeless Houston residents have been housed and supported
  •     The city made sure to take a more direct and cheaper approach to do so

A democrat-run city has managed to solved its homeless crisis with nonprofits that have worked together to obtain one-bedroom apartments for vagrants.

Houston, Texas has gone on to create one of their ‘most important innovations’ – the Coalition for the Homeless, along with exploiting the city’s loose planning regulations.

The independent agency, known as The Way Home, co-ordinates with 100 nonprofits to combat homelessness under a collective effort in the city.

Well, “solved” might be an overstatement.  I’m not sure that it can be “solved” without addressing the drug addiction and mental illness that seems to be at the root of the “problem”.

The reporting make it sound like “loose planning regulations” are the problem.  Maybe it’s regulations in the first place that are the “problem”?
