From Forbidden to Top Sellers

  • If books are any indication, the Bio-Pharmaceutical Complex is losing in the marketplace of ideas.

The dummies who tried to impose a censorship regime in the United States should have understood that their scheme wouldn’t work.

Key actors in the “censorship-industrial complex,” as Michael Shellenberger calls it, should have understood that their enterprise was doomed to fail, just as the Catholic Church’s Index Librorum Prohibitorum (Index of Forbidden Books), maintained between 1560 to 1966, was doomed to fail.

Notable authors on the Index included Jean-Paul Sartre, Michel de Montaigne, Voltaire, Denis Diderot, Victor Hugo, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, André Gide, Nikos Kazantzakis, Emanuel Swedenborg, Baruch Spinoza, Desiderius Erasmus, Immanuel Kant, David Hume, René Descartes, Francis Bacon, Thomas Browne, John Milton, John Locke, Nicolaus Copernicus, Niccolò Machiavelli, Galileo Galilei, Blaise Pascal, and Hugo Grotius.

Rather than censoring and banning ideas, it’s always better to discuss and debate them.

I remember in Catholic High Skrule each week, the Diocesan newspaper (I forget the name) would print the Forbidden Books and Forbidden Movies lists.  And the good Christian Brothers would make a point of reminding us that these would damage our souls.  Little did they realize it was, just like Adam and Eve, tempting us.  I know everyone tried to read or see these “evil demons”.  Most of us succeeded.  Word quickly spread which were worth the effort and which weren’t.  Laugh!

I don’t think it made a difference.

If I was the Principal I would have put the summer required reading list as “Prohibited” and it would have gotten read.

Sigh!  Those were the “easy days”.

DISCOURAGING: “Civil society” isn’t getting any more “civilized”!

Canada Plans to Euthanize 15 Million People in the Next 20 Years
International | Bobby Schindler | Jul 21, 2025 | 9:44AM | Ottawa, Canada

In a recent video, Kelsi Sheren, a Canadian combat veteran, host of The Kelsi Sheren Perspective, and an outspoken opponent of Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) policies, shared how Canada’s government-controlled healthcare system plans to euthanize an estimated 15 million Canadians between 2027 and 2047, a staggering figure justified under the pretext of cost savings.

*** and ***

What often goes unnoticed, however, is that existing U.S. healthcare policies are already enabling the quiet killing of vulnerable Americans – not through legalized suicide, but through hospital protocols and policies that deny care, withdraw treatment, or subtly hasten death.

As gun-owning pro-life pro-choice little L libertarian, I am not surprised that a “culture of death” has overwhelmed the morality of “We, The Sheeple”.  Abortion has desensitized us to mass murder.  The worst serial killer, school shooter, or crazy killer nurse can not come near the body count of today’s politicians and bureaucrats. Recently, Secretary RFK jr has comet against organ donations from living donors that will kill the “donor”.  To me, that’s just murder.

Unless “We, The Sheeple” react strongly and punish the “enablers” of these horrific killings, it’s only going to get worse.  Already, people are revoking the organ donor choice on their driver’s license (another insult to liberty).  And is anyone surprised?

The Catholic Church has completely lost its “moral authority” by pedophilia, financial mismanagement, liberal “theology”, “climate change”, illegal immigration, and a vast number of “political issues”.

Shame is, “We, The Sheeple” could use a beacon of “moral authority” today!

DISCOURAGING: Yet another sign that the world is becoming a different place

Ukrainian Basilians confirm permanent closure of beloved Toronto Marian shrine

  • ‘In other words, the ‘Shrine’ is permanently closed,’ announced Fr. Gabriel Haber, the Provincial Superior of the Order of St. Basil the Great of St. Josaphat.

TORONTO (LifeSiteNews) — A religious order has decided to sell a Marian shrine beloved to Toronto Catholics and well-known as a source of many reported miracles.

On August 15, Fr. Gabriel Haber, the Provincial Superior of the Order of St. Basil the Great of St. Josaphat, announced that the order is in the process of selling their Toronto-based monastery which includes the Marian Shrine of Gratitude, as faithful Catholics continue to pray the shrine will be preserved.

Again, the world is declining in entropy.

“No Margin; No mission”.

Perhaps, if there had been an admission charge, then the place might have survived.

Sad to see the beautiful places being absorbed by crass materialism.

The people are robbed by the fiat currency system such that they have no wealth left to donate to the beautiful places.

Where and when does it all grind to a halt?

SECESSION: Time to enforce “truth in labeling” of Catholic Universities

Catholic University – change name?

# – # – # – # – #

IMHO most, if not all, sadly including my alma mater, have left the straight and narrow a long long time ago.

Guess they should change their name if for no other reason than truth in labeling.

One has to fault the Catholic Church hierarchy for not discipling those who mislabel themselves as “catholic”.

Maybe, just maybe, I am old and cynical, but I can understand the French Revolution where the Jacobites killed royalty, celebrities, bishops, priests, bankers, and scientists as an “unproductive strata of society”.

Unfortunately, instead of removing statues, we should be removing: politicians and bureaucrats, what Michael Malice calls the “cathedral”  (i.e., liberal schools), and the corporate press.

I see a bloody future in the next civil war UNLESS everyone is allowed to go their own way peacefully.  The Pepuls Republik of Kaliforkneeah should be removed from “These United States of America” just as the South was kicked out of the Union.
