NY Archdiocese accuses insurance company of double dealing on sex abuse cases, posing as victims’ rights group

“Knowing the insureds face more than 1,500 Underlying claims involving allegations of the gravest magnitude, Chubb reassured them to their face while secretly stabbing them in the back for years,” church lawyers said in the filing. “Such fraud and sabotage easily meet the threshold for moral culpability necessary for punitive damages.”

If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas, or in Latin, qui cum canibus concumbunt cum pulicibus surgent. “He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas” has been attributed to Benjamin Franklin ‘s Poor Richard’s Almanack

It saddens me that this moral disaster keeps coming back up again and again.

An “insurance company” subverting the interests of its insured to avoid paying off?  I’m shocked.  Shocked I say.

“I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!” Captain Renault in Casablanca

It’s a total disgrace that the Catholic Church has not purged itself of everyone connected to this scandal.

And, to make it about money, just seems to amplify it and make it worse.

Argh!

A special election to fill the congressional seat vacated by expelled former Rep. George Santos will take place on Feb. 13, 2024, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday.

Hochul set the date for the vote in New York’s Third Congressional District one day after calling her former challenger, ex-Rep. Tom Suozzi, to the governor’s mansion in Albany to bend the knee following his ill-fated primary bid last year.

“We had a good meeting and cleared the air, and I appreciate her making the time,” Suozzi said. “At a time of strong political division, I offered to be another moderate voice as the Governor works to solve problems and make progress.”

Suozzi repped the Queens and Nassau County district for six years before leaving to run against Hochul in the gubernatorial race, opening the way for Santos to upset Democrat Robert Zimmerman as part of a midterm red wave in the Empire State.

Why have the expense of a “special election”?  Just leave it vacant until the next regular election!

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Isn’t an “unfunded mandate” the same as a “takings” under the Fifth Amendment?

NYC co-op owners, covering over 800K apartments, rebel against massive climate law costing millions

While supporting the goal of the Climate Change law, co-ops and condo owners said they need assistance to meet the new cleaner energy standards in what they called the “largest unfunded mandate in New York City history.”

I don’t support  — no surprise  — any type of “climate change” action until they can forecast accurately next month’s weather.  Chaos Theory seems to say that’s impossible.  And, on their way, they need to get China, India, and Pakistan to buy into this foolishness.

As an “on the ground” tactic, every such action should be opposed as a “taking” under the Fifth Amendment.

Argh!
