Saturday, August 11, 2018Unemployment compensation in labor disputesA bill sponsored by Senate Labor Committee Vice Chair Joseph F. Vitale and Sen. Vin Gopal to permit individuals who are unemployed because of a labor dispute to collect unemployment compensation under certain circumstances is now law after being signed by the governor.The new law, S-1046, will allow unemployment compensation during a labor dispute if it was caused by the failure of an employer to comply with an agreement or existing labor laws. It specifies that if a dispute is caused by any other reason, unemployment compensation would not be available for the first 30 days of unemployment.The bill outlines that a waiting period would not apply if the employer hires a permanent replacement worker and that any hired replacement workers would be presumed to be permanent unless the employer certifies in writing that the unemployed individual would be able to return to their position when the labor dispute ends.”It’s been long recognized that workers’ rights are human rights and that it is just and fair to uphold workers as they struggle to better their working conditions, compensation and benefits,” said Vitale, D-Middlesex. “This bill provides the framework needed to protect New Jersey’s workers from financial hardship while they exercise their right to fight for safe and fair working conditions.”

Fund for America calls for the government to set aside a one-time amount of $7,000 for each child born in the United States, and to repeat this annually for the next 35 years. The money would be placed in an investment portfolio determined by an expert panel appointed by the president and Congress. After 35 years, the government would receive back its initial outlay, plus inflation, and use the proceeds to fund the program for children born during the next 35-year cycle.

Beginning his joint press conference with Vladimir Putin, President Trump declared that U.S. relations with Russia have “never been worse.”
He then added pointedly, that just changed “about four hours ago.”
It certainly did. With his remarks in Helsinki and at the NATO summit in Brussels, Trump has signaled a historic shift in U.S. foreign policy that may determine the future of this nation and the fate of his presidency.
He has rejected the fundamental premises of American foreign policy since the end of the Cold War and blamed our wretched relations with Russia, not on Vladimir Putin, but squarely on the U.S. establishment.
In a tweet prior to the meeting, Trump indicted the elites of both parties: “Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of U.S. foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!”
Trump thereby repudiated the records and agendas of the neocons and their liberal interventionist allies, as well as the archipelago of War Party think tanks beavering away inside the Beltway.
Looking back over the week, from Brussels to Britain to Helsinki, Trump’s message has been clear, consistent and startling.
NATO is obsolete. European allies have freeloaded off U.S. defense while rolling up huge trade surpluses at our expense. Those days are over. Europeans are going to stop stealing our markets and start paying for their own defense.
And there will be no Cold War II.

I personally hope that DJT45 closes down NATO and lets all its politicians and bureaucrats more onto more productive work.
It’s a good time to change the foreign policy of “world’s policeman” and institute a Swiss style MYOB.

Monday, July 16, 2018New Jersey now has a law on the books that allows the government to confiscate guns from anyone considered a threat without anything approaching due process. There’s a slightly more complicated process, but in its essence, that’s pretty much exactly what is at play.
