Peter Schiff: Gold Would Explode With A Bernie Sanders Presidency

Wednesday, January 29, 2020

Via SchiffGold.com, Bernie Sanders has gained in the polls of late and only trails Joe Biden by about three percentage points, according to the latest Fox News poll. On top of that, Sanders matches up against President Trump. He leads 48% to 42% in a head-to-head matchup.

What a Sanders win means is much bigger government deficits, and much more money printing by the Fed because there is no way to finance all of the spending that will happen with tax hikes on the rich. We’ll get tax hikes on the rich, but they’re not going to provide the revenue to pay for the programs.”

While I like 2k$+ gold personally, the implications for the USA and the world.  It implies a catastrophic collapse in the global economy.

I’m old and probably will not see all the bad things that will happen with it.

Hopefully, the American electorate will come to their senses by election day.

Vermont Moose Saved After Hoof Stuck on Railroad Tracks

Wednesday, January 29, 2020

Vermont’s Department of Fish and Wildlife added that such rescues are rare because of the risk to both the animal and the rescue crews in those situations.“Such recoveries are many times not successful,” the department said. “It’s great to see that, in this case, it ended well for those involved and for this very fortunate moose. A great job by all, and a special thanks from the Vermont Fish & Wildlife to those who helped in this effort.”

Good work and good practice.

All life is “sacred” and should be treated with dignity and respect.

While we can’t save everything, we should retain our “humanity”.

My thought, after good for the moose, was could it have been a child or other human stuck there.

Wonder how it can be prevented in the future?

White House tells airlines it may suspend all China-US flights amid coronavirus outbreak

Tuesday, January 28, 2020

United Airlines, which has the most service of the U.S. airlines to Hong Kong and mainland China with about a dozen daily flights, on Tuesday announced it would cancel dozens of flights next month to Hong Kong and mainland China as the outbreak worsens. The Chicago-based airline said it has experienced a “significant decline in demand for travel to China.” United and its rivals Delta and American are waiving cancellation and change fees for travelers booked to China.

Wow, a “significant decline in demand for travel to China.”

No surprise there.

What surprises me is that there is ANY demand.

It’s sad that a human being was killed. It’s sad that another human being has to carry that burden for the rest of his life. It’s sad that there was an injury presumed from “friendly fire”.

It is good that criminals are called to account.

I’d rather they all be afraid of the honest citizen than the other way around.

Politicians and bureaucrats want to disarm the people for their own nefarious purposes.

(I’ve given up the idea that they are honestly trying to make the country safer. Honest but mistaken. In the light of their continued insistence in complete disarmament to extent they talk about door to door search and siezure as if was even possible. They can’t even disarm criminals. Or keep drugs out of their prisons. So what is their motivation if it’s not to put people into camps?)

Seems like the Virginia “Democratic” legislature has just “poked the proverbial tiger with a stick”. “I fear all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.” — apocryphal quote attributed to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto played by Soh Yamamura in the movie ‘Tora Tora Tora’

Μολὼν λαβέ … … from my cold dead hand!

Bryant’s helicopter flew in fog that grounded other choppers – AOL News

Monday, January 27, 2020

The cause of the crash was unknown, but conditions at the time were such that the Los Angeles Police Department and the county sheriff’s department grounded their helicopters.

What can one say about such a sad event?

I can’t add to story, but I have to wonder if this gets chalked up to “pilot error”?

I’m reminded of the plane crash of JFKjr, and the hubris of the pilot to think he can do it.  Even when there were alternatives.

In this case, flying into fog that was grounding others.  What would have been the “downside” to “discretion is the better part of valor”?  Missing a basketball game or being late for it!  A small price to pay for avoiding a disaster.

These celebrity doomsday predictors are all so “predictable”.

One set of rules for me; different ones for thee.

It’s all about taking away our freedoms and bigger Gooferment!

Man received USPS package five years after ordering item

How this man even remembered me, but five years later I received an email thanking me for the item. It had arrived, and in one piece. I still wonder where it sat for five years.

‘Those of us who did the right thing get screwed’: Father confronts Warren on student loan plan

Sunday, January 26, 2020

Via The Washington Examiner A father confronted Elizabeth Warren about her plan to forgive student loan debt in a tense face-to-face conversation, asserting that those who paid for college tuition themselves would get “screwed” under her proposal.

*** begin quote ***

During the confrontation Monday, Warren protested, communicating that no one would get “screwed.”

“Of course we did. My buddy had fun, bought a car, went on vacations. I saved my money,” he said. “He made more than I did. But I worked a double shift, worked extra — my daughter worked since she was 10. So, you’re laughing.”

“No, I’m not,” Warren said.

“Yeah, that’s exactly what you’re doing,” he said. “We did the right thing, and we get screwed,” he added, before walking away from the photo line without a photo.

Certainly sounds like that to me!

All these “free” giveaways will just crash the economy and make the great depression look like fun at a children’s party.

We get our standard of living from the (somewhat) free market.  At some point, these politicians and bureaucrats will “kill the golden goose”.

Interesting factoid.

Have Murphy and the D’s demonstrated that socialism doesn’t work?

High taxes are killing every thing.

We’ll see?!

California Case A Prime Example Of Gun Control’s Failures

Friday, January 24, 2020

You’ll never restrict something so sufficiently that criminals can’t get it. All you can do is interfere with the lawful man or woman and treat them like a criminal instead.
