Who’s property is it?  The property owner’s or the municipal Gooferment’s!

What gives them the right to do this?

Isn’t this a “taking” under the Fifth Amendment?

Argh!

HQ AM/PM

Friday, March 27, 2020

Thursday, Mar 26, 2020Not to be overwhelming first thing in the morning, but I’ve got some good news and some bad news for you. The good news? Today is Thursday, which means we’re pretty damn close to the weekend! The bad news? Today would have been MLB Opening Day, and does the weekend even really count in quarantine anyway?

I doubt that any of the “sports” empires have any debt, so are at little risk of bankruptcy.  Not so for other businesses or individuals.  I think a lot of places will NOT reopen and individuals will be ruined for life.

Like those of the Great Depression, I think that people will be “scarred” forever.

Maybe some good will come out of this disaster.  Like thrift, Dave Ramsey advocates no debt .  Like savings, to have enough in your savings to enable you to continue living at your “burn rate”.  Like being prepared, the Mormons keep a year in their pantry.

One can only hope.

EconomicPolicyJournal.com: Gold Bars in Short Supply Due to Coronavirus Disruption

Thursday, March 26, 2020

Europe’s largest gold refineries have struggled to keep up because of the region’s widening shutdown. Valcambi, Pamp and Argor-Heraeus are all based in the Swiss region of Ticino, near the border with Italy. Local authorities announced in recent days that production in the area was to be temporarily halted.

Mike Francesa blames Mets ‘dummies’ as Noah Syndergaard surgery ignites coronavirus outrage

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

“You’re going to get people furious, and they are,” Francesa said Tuesday while on the WFAN airwaves. “They’re going crazy everywhere. ‘How does he get elective surgery? I thought the hospitals closed elective surgery’ … And you know what? They’re right. The people are right.”

Boeing wants a bailout, But without giving equity to the government in exchange

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

Probably a bluff. (From The Wall Street Journal) “I don’t have a need for an equity stake,” Mr. Calhoun (Boeing CEO) said in a Tuesday interview on Fox Business Network. “If they forced it, we’d just look at all the other options, and we have got plenty.”

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: MI Gov. Whitmer Criticizes GOP for Failing to Ban Church Gatherings

Monday, March 23, 2020

Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) said on “Fox News Sunday” that Republicans were to blame for an exemption in her order that allows places of worship to gather in groups of 50 or more during the coronavirus outbreak.

Guest host John Roberts asked, “One thing that kind of puzzles me is that you have limited groups of people to 50 or fewer yet, there is an exemption for places of worship. Why would a place of worship be any less likely to transmit diseases in a larger gathering than another place?”

Perhaps some one should refresh their memory about the First Amendment.  You know the one about “freedom of religion”.  The Gooferment has no power to regulate churches.

GOVERNACIDE: Vin Suprynowicz » Who stood to gain by panicking the nation & shutting down our entire economy, over an epidemic that will likely kill fewer Americans than the ‘regular old flu’?

Monday, March 23, 2020

I believe we saw something highly significant today: The Let’s-Trash-Trump-and-His-Economy press are reporting today’s incident as though TRUMP did something wrong. When Trump announced Chloroquine works both to prevent and to ameliorate the symptoms of coronavirus, Dr. Anthony Fauci of the massively commercially compromised National Institutes of Health promptly responded that it “hasn’t been clinically tested,” at which point Trump backed down and said it was “just his opinion.”

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-undercuts-fauci-on-whether-chloroquine-can-treat-coronavirus-2020-3?op=1

But guess what? The expert wasn’t right. It’s Trump who was right. Fauci is part of the conflicted, sold-out mob that moves endlessly through the revolving door between the NIH/CDC and Big Pharma, all anxious to create big profits by peddling a new vaccine (even “free” vaccines can be billed to and paid for by the gubbimint – including the ones that are only 40 percent efficacious and can cause more harm than good, which is a lot of them.)

DJT45 WAS RIGHT!

And, no one remembers that.

Sure he’s wrong a lot.  Maybe even he tweets a “whopper” from time to time.  (I think he uses Twitter to engage his opponents, like a cat chasing a red dot.)

But, the media is running “the sky is falling” 24/7.

I prefer a more reasonable, factual, less panicked media.

LIBERTARIAN: The State Is Not Your Friend – LewRockwell

Sunday, March 22, 2020

The State isn’t a magical entity; it’s a parasite on society. Anything useful the State does could be, and would be, provided by entrepreneurs seeking a profit. And would be better and cheaper by virtue of that.

More important, the State represents institutionalized coercion. It has a monopoly of force, and that’s always extremely dangerous. As Mao Tse-tung, lately one of the world’s leading experts on government, said: “The power of the State comes out of a barrel of a gun.” The State is not your friend.

The “priestly class” — in which I include politicians and bureaucrats — has been a curse on humanity and civilization from the dawn of time.  These parasites, in guise of providing “leadership”, “cost” a lot more than they are worth.  Argh!

Let’s get back on the track to freedom and liberty.

TINFOILHAT: Don’t believe conspiracy theories; coronavirus wasn’t created in a lab

Saturday, March 21, 2020

Anderson and her collaborators found evidence in the virus’ spike-like proteins, which help the infection grab and penetrate animal cells, to determine that they “evolved to effectively target a molecular feature” specific to human cells. The function is so effective, in fact, that they believe only natural selection could have produced such an efficient virus.

The Scripps teams also note that anyone attempting to generate a new coronavirus on their own — in a lab, for instance — would have used a prior coronavirus as a template. But the structure of SARS-CoV-2, they found, was unlike any they had previously encountered in humans, and instead resembled those found in bats and pangolins. Scientists believe the virus may have originated in a bat.

Dr. Josie Golding, epidemics lead at UK-based Wellcome Trust, also told Scripps that their findings are “crucially important to bring an evidence-based view to the rumors that have been circulating about the origins of the virus (SARS-CoV-2) causing COVID-19.”

So, what about the report that there was Chinese bio lab 600 yards from the wild food market in Wuhan?

Didn’t anyone else see that report?

Awfully convenient!

Or will this be like the BBC report of WTC7 collapse 20 minutes before it did?

Why did the BBC report the WTC Building 7 collapse twenty minutes in advance of the event?

Sorry but all I can do is ask questions and recall “hot stories gone cold”!

I only know what I am told and the quote from a great Jurist —  “If it doesn’t make sense, it’s not true.” — Judge Judy!

This all doesn’t make sense.  Too coincidental.

Debunking Nature Magazine’s “COVID-19 Definitely Didn’t Come From A Lab” China Propaganda
by Tyler Durden
Fri, 03/20/2020 – 23:25

*** begin quote ***

Maybe you shouldn’t blindly believe everything you read? Even if the source has a pretty solid reputation?

*** and ***

Below is a takedown of that article, and the good news is a much more nuanced and honest look at the origins of COVID-19, the Wuhan Strain of coronavirus is just a click away.

Thus, the high-affinity binding of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein to human ACE2 is most likely the result of natural selection on a human or human-like ACE2 that permits another optimal binding solution to arise. This is strong evidence that SARS-CoV-2 is not the product of purposeful manipulation.

As our report mentions right at the start, scientists passed the H5N1 Bird Flu through a series of ferret hosts until it gained ACE2 affinity and then became incredibly virulent, which is what’s seen with COVID-19 since its affinity to ACE2 is orders of magnitude higher than SARS. That process would leave a genome that appears “natural” and not purposeful as well since it wouldn’t leave a genomic smoking gun and would simply appear to be the result of “natural” selection. However the addition of artificial generations produced by this process of passing through ferrets in the lab would create a lot of genetic distance from any possible relatives – precisely what is seen in COVID-19: it forms its own clade and appears very distant from all other bat coronaviruses. So this is lazy research, they’re either unaware of the Bird Flu study or are willfully ignoring it.

*** end quote ***

So I, your faithful blogger and resident curmudgeon don’t believe ANYTHING.  Even that sun will rise tomorrow morning.  (Best I can say is: “It appears to rise every morning”!)

As far as the Wuhan virus is concerned, it’s an ideal Conspiracy Theory.  Because whatever is advanced as “proof” or “evidence” is probably tempered by politics, politicians, and bureaucrats.
