RANT: Is an Amazon “oversold” like an Airline “bump”?

Sunday, March 20, 2016

This morning I was thinking about my fiancée’s recent experience with an Amazon purchase.

Background, she ordered a “new” (antique!) Blackberry phone. All well and good. It “disappeared”. Even though USPS reported it as delivered to her door.

Yeah, I know all about “porch pirates”. And, was perfectly fine until this morning.

Then, when safely under my tin foil hat, my Conspiracy Theorist bent came to the forefront and began asking questions.

Interesting that when she ordered it, Amazon said they had five for sale. When she called to complain about the missing delivery, the representative offered a refund OR A REPLACEMENT. She was told to wait until the follow ing Monday to make it official. When she did, “Amazon is no longer selling these”. (a polite FU! imho)

So as a certifiable Conspiracy Theorist, perhaps like the airlines who “bump” flights that they deliberately “overbook”, I suspected that maybe Amazon “oversold” this items.

Now, I’m an Amazon Prime-er, and I order lots of stuff. (18 items alone in 2016!) And, I have NEVER fallen prey to a “porch pirate”. That day, I got a delivery that USPS put in a locker. The next day, Sunday, I got a USPS delivery to the door.

Argh!

Now, maybe Amazon oversold it, realized that, and decided “who do we screw”?

Maybe Amazon has a label to the USPS that says “Lose this package”. And, USPS plays along.

Why would USPS do that? Collision with Amazon; lest Amazon decide to bribe Congress that it want to deliver mail. Perhaps, even Amazon pays more for the “lose this package” service?

Argh!

I urged her to grip to Amazon a lot louder, the USPS, and any Gooferment entity that would listen.

Isn’t interesting that the same phone is available at Blackberry for 100$ more — no problem.

So why didn’t Amazon just buy one there and send to her to keep the Customer happy? Yeah, now it’s all about money!

I wonder if other people have had similar experiences.

Argh!

You’re right. I don’t trust ANYONE or ANY Crony Capitalist corporation.

I’m sure the US Gooferment is going to rush to investigate itself.

Argh!

RANT: Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good

Sunday, March 13, 2016

FROM SNOPES

http://www.snopes.com/glurge/lifelessons.asp

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio
“To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I’ve ever written.
My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
8. It’s OK to get angry.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ‘In five years, will this matter?’
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time some time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.
35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. 44. Yield.
45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

RANT: YOU’VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

Saturday, March 12, 2016

from an email “chain letter” forward to me by a young relative

*** begin quote ***

“IF YOU CAN’T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU’VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM”
WRITTEN BY A 21 YEAR OLD FEMALE. Wow, this girl has a great plan! Love the last thing
she would do – the best.

This was written by a 21 yr. old female who gets it. It’s her future she’s worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she’s being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.

This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco , TX

PUT ME IN CHARGE . . .

Put me in charge of food stamps. I’d get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho’s, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I’d do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, or smoke, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your “home” will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a “government” job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22-inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good.”

Before you write that I’ve violated someone’s rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary.

If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be “demeaning” and ruin their “self esteem,” consider that it wasn’t that long ago that taking someone else’s money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people’s mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND

While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes, that is correct. For you to vote would be
a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

*** end quote ***

Makes sense to me!

CHINESE COOK DIES FROM TOXIC WASTE DUMPED AT PARKING LOT

*** begin quote ***

BEIJING (AP) — Police in a northern Chinese city have broken up a major toxic waste case that came to light when a restaurant owner died after inhaling poisonous gases coming from his kitchen drain, state media said Monday.

Police discovered that the operator of a parking lot near the restaurant in Baoding city had allowed factories to dump highly toxic waste into its drain pipes for illegal gains, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

The parking lot operator allowed a total of more than 3,400 tons of toxic waste to be dumped between August 2014 and May 2015, Xinhua said.

*** end quote ***

Sounds like murder!

And how did they think they were going to get away with this?

At the very least, the parking lot operator was going to be caught! And, then sing like a canary!!!

Given the Chinese and their use of the “death penalty”, if I were these folks, then I’d be saying my prayers and calling in all the bribes I’d ever given for help.

What a shame for the poor cook.

RANT: What the hell is “eyewash”?

Thursday, February 18, 2016

http://www.thedailysheeple.com/the-cia-has-been-lying-to-its-own-employees-for-decades_022016

THE CIA HAS BEEN LYING TO ITS OWN EMPLOYEES FOR DECADES
FEBRUARY 13, 2016 | THE ANTI-MEDIA

*** begin quote ***

The Post says that references to eyewash date back to the 19th century in books on spying, as well as more recent Hollywood movies such as Argo. One official who has seen the Senate report said, “The people in the outer levels who didn’t have insider access were being lied to. They were being intentionally deceived.”

Five former “high-ranking CIA officials” said they have never heard of eyewash nor had they seen it used in internal communications. Fred Hitz, a former CIA inspector general, told the Post that someone might make a decision based on false information and said the tactic was equivalent to “playing with fire.” Other officials interview by the Post said the program has a significant potential for abuse.

Another government official who claims to have seen the practice said that in his career of more than two decades he had “only seen maybe five or six” eyewash cables. So far, the CIA has refused to comment on the Washington Post story.

Federal laws exist which make it illegal for a government employee to lie or falsify statements in an official record. Somehow, the CIA has managed to become so far above the law that they are able to lie to their own employees and compartmentalize it in such a fashion that the left hand never knows what the right hand is doing.

*** end quote ***

You can trust the Gooferment about as you can trust that a politician is “honest”.

The fact that the CIA lies to its employees is only obscured by the fact that they, and the rest of the Gooferment, lies to the people, the taxpayers, and the world!

Argh!

Stolen Lives, Protected Criminals: The Wrongful Imprisonment of Christopher Tapp
By William Norman Grigg

February 6, 2016

*** begin quote ***

There are abundant reasons to be grateful that we do not live under the Old Testament “lex talonis” legal covenant, and one compelling reason to lament that this is so: Under the system of justice described in the Book of Deuteronomy, a lying police officer and corrupt prosecutor who falsely convicted an innocent man would be required to suffer the punishment intended for their victim.

Under that legal principle, former Idaho Falls Police Detective Jared Fuhriman and former Bonneville County District Attorney Kip Manwaring would be serving a sentence of 30 years to life for the wrongful murder conviction of Christopher Conley Tapp.

*** end quote ***

Well, not only do we need to call the politicians and bureaucrats to “fix” the concept of “sovereign immunity” that protects the police and prosecutors from their abuses. Some of the stuff that gets reported is absolutely inexcusable. We’re not talking about a minor mistake or flub; these stories document prosecutorial or police criminal abuse.

Also, the courts need to be open to ANY appeal that could prove one’s innocence. I don’t care if it was evidence available at the time of trial, new DNA capabilities, or ineffective counsel / abusive prosecutorial conduct. The door should be always OPEN for proof of innocence. If I was President, I’d take these cases under advisement.

Better a hundred guilty go free, than one innocent is in jail.

Just think, the unlucky stiff in jail could be YOU!

Maybe it’s better that the folks on this modern day Titanic don’t consider what happens when they hit one of the many “icebergs” in their path — the debt, the deficit, the current 20T+ national debt and the guesstimated 300T+ in unfunded liabilities that our posterity will have to deal with, the abortion genocide, and unstable world political arrangement.

No, keep your eye on the football, citizen, since that is ALL that really matters.

RANT: Is this one of the “few enumerated powers”?

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/02/06/california-based-beauty-school-to-close-all-55-campuses.html?intcmp=hplnws

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. –  A Beverly Hills-based beauty school says it’s closing all 56 of its campuses in five states after losing federal funding over allegations of misconduct.

Marinello Schools of Beauty has been in business for over a century. It shut facilities this week in California, Nevada, Utah, Kansas and Connecticut.

My question is why is the Federal Gooferment involved in “student loans”?

Where in the Constitution is this one of the “few enumerated powers”?

It may be a State regulatory concern — are the students being defrauded — but why is the Federal Gooferment doing anything?

RANT: CDC Cover-Up

CDC Cover-Up of Autism and Vaccine Link Continues
By Dr. David Brownstein
Dr. Brownstein’s Blog
January 29, 2016

*** begin quote ***

However, the very same U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has refused to call a hearing about another health crisis—whether or not childhood vaccines cause autism.

In August, 2014, a senior CDC researcher, Dr. William Thompson came forward and sought whistleblower status by claiming that an important 2004 paper from the CDC—which found no correlation with the MMR vaccine and autism–was fraudulent. According to Dr. Thompson, the CDC researchers actually found that the MMR vaccine, when given before 36 months of age (it is presently recommended at 12-15 months and again at five years) was significantly correlated with the development of autism. However, the CDC, in a closed-door meeting, altered the data to hide their findings. Furthermore, the authors of this 2004 paper were told, by their bosses at the CDC, to throw out and not disclose any information that showed a correlation of the MMR vaccine with autism.

I have written to about this travesty many times.

*** end quote ***

My problems is that there is no “honesty” in Gooferment.

I am more firmly convinced that the Gooferment is immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy.

The politicians and bureaucrats have indemnified Big Pharma by the “vaccine harm fund”. SO there is no way to make them pay for their mistakes.

And, of course, a cover up is usually worse than the crime.

I hope whomever is the new President can “clean house”.

But, I fear, that’s too much to hope for.

Argh!

I don’t envy the decision any parent has to make. And, the fact that there are no “facts” to guide them makes it even worse. At least, the old tribal witch doctor didn’t have a conflict of interest. Too many bad results and he’d be sacrificed to appease the gods. Maybe we should try that approach?

Laid-off IT workers muzzled as H-1B debate heats up
By Patrick Thibodeau
Computerworld | Jan 28, 2016 2:01 PM PT

*** begin quote ***

In November, Blumenthal co-sponsored new H-1B legislation by longtime program critics, Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), designed to prevent the replacement of U.S. workers by H-1B visa holders.

Nonetheless, Blumenthal remains a co-sponsor of the I-Squared Act, which raised questions among those laid off about his intentions.

“He is still co-sponsoring everything,” one former Connecticut utility worker said about Blumenthal. The worker asked not to be identified because of severance package limitations. “He is totally unbelievable.” Blumenthal was not immediately available for comment.

Leo Perrero, an IT worker at Disney who was laid off after training his foreign replacement, says non-disparagement agreements hinder the debate over the H-1B visa. Without such agreements, “you would have a lot more people speaking out – real human beings with real stories, not just anonymous persons speaking out,” said Perrero.

“Their freedom of speech is being taken away from them with the non-disparagement agreements,” he said.

*** end quote ***

Sorry, but I have to urge folks NOT to go to Mickey Mouse land.

Disney / ABC must be made to understand that us in the bourgeoisie or the  proletariat will not fund our own demise!

If I was the AFL / CIO, I’d be unionizing all the white collar workers.

And, we should be hammering all the politicians and bureaucrats about this abuse.

According to court documents filed in the case, Farrokh asked for help getting to Syria from a person who he didn’t know was an informant for the FBI. He later met with two other FBI informants he believed were people who could help him join the Islamic State group. Court documents say Farrokh expressed concerns about trusting the men and said he didn’t want to go to jail. At one meeting with them, however, he agreed to swear an oath of allegiance, court documents said. He also allegedly said that he wanted to die a martyr but did ask if his wife and family could eventually join him in Syria. He said he had other ways to get to Syria in the past that weren’t secure and needed a connection because he didn’t want to get arrested.

Steelers leave Cincinnati bruised, battered — and alive in AFC playoffs

Did the “gods of football” deliver Karmic justice to the Cincinnati fans for booing and throwing garbage on Pittsburgh Steeler QB Big Ben when he was taken off injured?

And, to reinforce the lesson, those same “gods of football” did it by befogging the brains of the Cincinnati defense.

How does that line go?

“Those whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.” — Euripides

I always thought it meant “crazy”, but last night I got the true meaning.

A true champion respects his opponent; because in the end, our true opponent is ourselves.

Last night demonstrated that to any who watched.

Well done, “gods of football” for demonstrating STARKLY the Law of Karma — what goes around, comes around.

Usually, exponentially worse.

So, be careful what you wish for others, you might get it back — bigger and harder.

Wow!

And remember the old Cincinnati coach’s quote that was on the locker room scroll: “The key to winning is poise under stress.”

Guess no one read that one!

Texas-Baylor game interrupted by massive bench-clearing scuffle

Disgraceful.

What are “we” or “they” teaching these young men? Certainly not how to be a competitor, a gentleman, or a warrior.

It’s a GAME! Not a war.

Join the Marines if you want to go to war. And, they won’t tolerate such a shocking lack of discipline.

A competitor, a gentlemen, or a warrior must be disciplined if there’s to be any chance of success in a battle, a struggle, or a life.

Very disappointing.

Bread and circuses — that’s what football has become.

Sorry, time to downsize the whole thing in importance.

RANT: Why they haven’t struck more often and harder?

Security Theater: Customary Federal Pointlessness
By Fred Reed
December 4, 2015

*** begin quote ***

The future? Hard to say. As I write, President B. Hussein Obama is endeavoring to import tens of thousands of Moslems. It will be impossible to screen them, presumably making the importation a free ride into the US for terrorists if they so choose. It is not politically incorrect to note that the countless Moslem terrorists in recent years have been countless Moslem terrorists. It is, however, true. The greatest question about terrorists is not whether they can, but why they haven’t.

*** end quote ***

Stipulating that all this “security” is nothing more than “theater”, as originally identified by Bruce Schneier @schneier.com, this is an essential interesting question.

If it’s so easy, why haven’t the terrorists struck more and harder.

It’s not like there are not huge numbers of gun free zones.

Perhaps there are NOT as many terrorists as we have been led to believe?

Maybe the pool of potential “suicide bombers” isn’t so large?

Hmmm, it which case, “cut bono”? The Gooferment keeping us “safe”!

Argh!

Wake up, Sheeple. You’re being shorn again.

RANT: What did Sandy Berger take?

Sandy Berger, former national security adviser, dies
By Nick Gass12/02/15 09:44 AM EST Updated 12/02/15 11:04 AM EST

*** begin quote ***

Berger’s legacy was marred, however, when he pleaded guilty in 2005 to removing highly classified documents from the National Archives in Washington the previous year. The inspector general of the National Archives said that a staff member had witnessed the former NSA adviser wrapping the classified documents around his socks and under his pants.

He was fined $50,000, sentenced to two years’ probation and stripped of his security clearance for three years. Following a Justice Department investigation and subsequent congressional hearings, Berger voluntarily gave up his license to practice law in 2007.

What did Sandy Berger take?

And why?

Guess we’ll never have an answer to that question.

Had to be at the behest and benefit of the Clintons.

Another unanswered question.

RANT: Muslim taxi driver shot in the back

Acts of Faith
Passenger rants about Islamic State before shooting Muslim taxi driver in back
By Peter Holley
November 30

*** begin quote ***

But by the time it was over, the Pittsburgh taxi driver — a 38-year-old Muslim man from Morocco — had a bullet wound in his upper back and was lucky to be alive, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Pittsburgh police are investigating the Thanksgiving Day shooting, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is asking for more help: CAIR, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, has called on the Justice Department to investigate the incident as a hate crime — which, it said, was “similar to a growing number of attacks targeting the nation’s Muslim community following the recent terror attacks in Paris.”

*** and ***

The cab driver told the Post-Gazette that he doesn’t want revenge, but he does want justice.

“In our religion, Islam, we forgive, even in such conditions,” he said. “I learned this from our prophet Muhammad. We don’t take revenge. I could forgive this, but I still want my rights.”

*** end quote ***

Absolutely unacceptable.

Probably a drunk from the casino trying to beat the guy for the fare.

Argh!

RANT: “Speed limits” are about revenue generation

Speed Averages
by eric • November 29, 2015 • 15 Comments

*** begin quote ***

For example, a memo issued to the highwaymen of Fairfax County, Virginia:

“Two traffic stops is the minimum acceptable daily average, calculated on a monthly basis. Either two summons and one warning must be issued and entered per day on average. (Two warnings are not acceptable). All days, all officers are required to be well-rounded in their production, regardless of minimum standards.”

The bolding, underlining and italics are not mine. They are in the original.

“Well-rounded in their production.”

SO what are you going to do about, you Sheeple you.
