Stock Market Investing Advice for College Graduates by Jim Wang

*** begin quote ***

Imagine you had a time machine and could give yourself just one good piece of advice after you graduated college, what would it be?

*** end quote ***

Eliminate debt. Save more. Go to Law School with the rest of the team. Buy commodities. Move to the country.

“Souldas, wouldas, and couldas”

They will kill you!

Now, my advice would be: “Be an entrepreneur”!

When I was a recent graduate, I was enthralled by Sonny Bloc on the radio. His advice was to buy, and rent out, 12 single family homes within one hour of your primary residence. I understood the objective a secure monthly income. His theory was that after 15 or 30 years of rental income, the rents would then be free and clear. A pension!

In the wisdom of my youth, I saw all the obstacles — downpayments, 3AM calls from angry renters, and hassles. The target thirty years down the road was so far away. I didn’t do it! If I had, I’d be sitting on 12 300k$ “cash cows”. Say 4m$. Throwing off 12 12k$ annually. 145k$. Argh!

Now I see the wisdom of all sorts of things.

So, I’ll modify that advice: “Have a written plan to be an entrepreneur!”

Yes, hindsight is 20/20.

ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE

Tue Jun 16 2009 08:45:10 ET

*** begin quote ***

On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care — a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm!

*** and ***

Late Monday night, Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay fired off a complaint to the head of ABCNEWS:

Dear Mr. Westin:

As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC’s astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.

Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party’s views to those of the President’s to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party’s opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.

In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime.

Respectfully,
Ken McKay
Republican National Committee
Chief of Staff

*** and ***

ABCNEWS Senior Vice President Kerry Smith on Tuesday responded to the RNC complaint, saying it contained ‘false premises’:

“ABCNEWS prides itself on covering all sides of important issues and asking direct questions of all newsmakers — of all political persuasions — even when others have taken a more partisan approach and even in the face of criticism from extremes on both ends of the political spectrum. ABCNEWS is looking for the most thoughtful and diverse voices on this issue.

“ABCNEWS alone will select those who will be in the audience asking questions of the president. Like any programs we broadcast, ABC News will have complete editorial control. To suggest otherwise is quite unfair to both our journalists and our audience.”

Developing…

Geee, I guess we should complain to the FCC, FEC, and the Supreme Court!

Like that’s going to do any good.

TO ABCNEWS:

I think your plan to turn ABCNEWS into the propaganda arm on President Obama administration on “health care”. For me, ABC News has lost all credibility. There is a legitimate POLITICAL debate about the pros and cons of what is being proposed. For you to jump in with both feet on President Obama’s side is completely unacceptable. Bad enough that the lines have blurred in the past, now you are dropping any pretense of independent journalism. Shame on you for letting the American people down. We gave you an honored position in civil society, buttressed you with the First Amendment and our support, to protect us from the Political Class. You have stabbed us in the back. Disgraceful.

POLITICAL: IG gets fired for exposing Obama’s corruption

Gerald Walpin speaks: The inside story of the AmeriCorps firing
By: Byron York
Chief Political Correspondent
06/14/09 7:00 PM EDT
Dispute that resulted in firing involved stimulus money

*** begin quote ***

At that moment, Walpin says, he had finished not only a report on the Sacramento probe but also an investigation into extensive misuse of AmeriCorps money by the City University of New York, which is AmeriCorps’ biggest program. Walpin says he told Eisen that, given those two investigations, neither of which was well-received by top Corporation management, the timing of his firing seemed “very interesting.” According to Walpin, Eisen said it was “pure coincidence.” When Walpin asked for some time to consider what to do, Eisen gave him one hour. “Then he called back in 45 minutes and asked for my response,” Walpin recalls.

The method of Walpin’s firing could be a violation of the 2008 Inspectors General Reform Act, which requires the president to give Congress 30 days’ notice, plus an explanation of cause, before firing an inspector general. Then-Sen. Barack Obama was a co-sponsor of that legislation. In the case of Walpin, Eisen’s efforts to force Walpin to resign could be seen as an effort to push Walpin out of his job so that the White House would not have to go through the 30-day process or give a reason for its action. When Walpin refused to quit, the White House informed Congress and began the 30-day countdown.

Fraud, waste, and now political corruption.

Hey, business as usual.

“Hope and change”

Just like Chicago!

The President was just protecting his big contributors.

Disgraceful!

POLITICANS: Campaign Finance Reform

GRASSROOTS/Hank Kalet
Fee for Service

*** begin quote ***

The amendment was opposed by the finance industry, which gave nearly $300 million in campaign contributions to Congressional candidates in 2008, more than any other industry contributed during the same election cycle.

*** end quote ***

The problem all along is the illusion that gooferment can be “controlled”.

It’s roots are evil.

How about a rule that only real people can contribute to a campaign?

Oh, we have those already. That created “bundlers”!

How about a rule limiting amounts?

Oh, we have that already. That created “straw donations”!

How about a rule preventing foreigners?

Oh we have that already. That created “fake donors”!

See the politicians like the system just the way it is.

Corrupt!!!

MONEY: Don’t mess with Uncle Sugar’s monopoly

Bullion and Bandits: The Improbable Rise and Fall of E-Gold

*** begin quote ***

Jackson has finally registered E-Gold with FinCEN, and has begun applying to states for money transmitting licenses. The company is also blocking people who appear on the Treasury Department’s list of Specially Designated Nationals and plans to follow bank procedures for verifying customer income and sources of transmitted funds. There are other plans in works to clean up the system as well.

*** end quote ***

Read this with an eye towards why this fool was targeted.

Think they care about catch bad guys?

Or, could it be that he was undermining their monopoly over “money”.

That stuff they laughable call “money” … Federal Reserve Banknotes.

Paper!

Fiat trash.

No, he was giving people an easy and cheap way to store value.

That couldn’t be “taxed” by inflation.

Imagine how much better the Chinese would be if they had 5T$ of gold as opposed to Uncle Sugar’s little green pieces of paper.

No, anyone who messes with that monopoly, will bring the goons out in force.

PATH Stations To Run Security Screening Tests
To Use Cutting Edge Passive Millimeter Wave Technology

*** begin quote ***

NEW YORK (CBS) ― New security technology to detect threats like explosive devices will be tested at PATH train stations over the next month.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the trans-Hudson River commuter train system, announced Monday that the pilot program will start June 10 and run through July 10.

The program will test passive millimeter wave technology, which can detect explosives hidden under clothing.

The Port Authority says all passengers entering a station where the testing is taking place will be tested, and anyone who does not want to be tested will have to use another station.

INTERESTING: Six small meals per day

Sunday, June 14, 2009

Frau’s in the hospital for her ongoing medical adventure. The show Mystery Diagnosis has nothing on her. But, she has one valid gripe. The Endocrinologists treating her diabetes and the various and sundry dietitians all tell her to eat six small meals daily. OK, good advice. But in the hospital, she only has the option of three meals per day. I find this interesting. Next to the excessive charge for parking and TV/Phone, it’s the stupidity of the “system”!

GUNS: Should go to jail for stupidity

Would-be gangster shoots off own manhood

A would-be gangster shot himself in the crutch when his gun went off half cocked in his pocket.

Lukas Neuhardt, 27, had forgotten to put the safety catch on when he stuffed the gun into his trouser pocket to impress pals in Saarbruecken, Germany.

*** and ***

Now – after surgeons stitched his manhood back together – he’s facing up to three years in jail for breaching Germany’s tough new anti gun laws.

See they need a “gun culture” like the Wild West.

Until this country went nuts over fear of guns, everyone knew guns as tools.

Argh!

TECHNOLOGY: Why isn’t cable treated like the power company?

Saturday, June 13, 2009

In thinking about the MyFy portable hot spot, why don’t we make telephone and cable like the power company?

The electric company has a meter on the side of the house. Just like water. Sewer is “measured” too. (Input = Output)

So why don’t we make the cable company do it the same way.

Phone has an interface box.

Why do we allow them to dictate how we use our “water”?

Why do we allow them to dictate what hardware we have inside our walls?

Argh!
