Deny Congress FICA Payroll Tax in the General Fund
Erroll Ivery

*** begin quote ***

It was not just a “change in budget presentation.” The net result of lending payroll tax to the federal government under a unified budget was divestiture of all trust funds. Congress then spent surplus payroll tax, instead of leaving it in the trust fund and investing it in money market investment accounts, for example, to earn interest and preserve capital during years of surplus payroll tax. Instead of asking the American worker to compensate for Congress’ fiscal irresponsibility, Congress should re-capitalize the Social Security Trust Fund with payroll tax deposits. Any deficit in receipts needed to pay benefits should then come from the General Fund.

I don’t understand why we continue the fiction that this is a “separate program”, “insurance”, or even an “entitlement”. It’s a welfare program that has been marketed

POLITICAL: Can’t even print money correctly!

Monday, December 6, 2010

http://www.cnbc.com/id/40521684

*** begin quote ***

But the production process is so complex, it has instead foiled the government printers tasked with producing billions of the new notes.

An official familiar with the situation told CNBC that 1.1 billion of the new bills have been printed, but they are unusable because of a creasing problem in which paper folds over during production, revealing a blank unlinked portion of the bill face.

*** end quote ***

I thought that now bankrupt New York State Off Track Betting (a Gooferment gambling operation) was the “best” example of Gooferment operational expertise. But here we have the Gooferment can’t even print money profitably. No one noticed that a grazillion bucks was NG? No one tested this great idea. And, of course, no one will suffer for this stupidity. No one except the taxpayer that is. Argh!

OPERATINGSYSTEM: Cloud-centric OS? The ultimate Thin Client?

Poll: Do You Want to Use Chrome OS?

By Klint Finley / November 30, 2010 11:00 AM

*** begin quote ***

We recently covered five cloud-centric OSes available today. Some of them have been around for years, and can run on old desktop computers. None of them has yet to catch fire in the enterprise or anywhere else – not even Meego, which is sponsored by Intel and Nokia. It seems that people are more excited about Android than Chrome OS.

Is Chrome OS, or one of the alternatives, something YOU would want to use?

*** end quote ***

The question, with “cloud computing”, with “cloud operating systems”, or even with Windoze with it’s Update “Service” that can change the underlying OS without User or Administrator permission, is “change control”.

How do I know that it works and works in a functionally identical manner when I can’t have “change control”?

MACBOOKAIR: Ready for the shop tomorrow

Sunday, December 5, 2010

Well, at least, I think I am.

Have alternate platform that will allow me to do email and Jasper Jottings, CHECK!

Have complete backup of McBa, CHECK!

Have complete data backups at CARBONITE, CHECK!

Have documents backed up at DROPBOX, CHECK!

OK!

Monday, if all goes well with Frau Reinke at the lab, then I’m off to the Apple Store: (1) missing sound; suspect hardware; (2) failure to sync; suspect OSX os; (3) intermittent slowdowns; suspect OSX networking.

Best outcome: all three fixed

Worst outcome: completely wiped “repaired” machine.

Somewhere in the middle: a permanent replacement “new but old model” mcba machine or one of the new macbookairs.

I should have keep a book on how much time and effort this has cost me.

Argh!

*** begin quote ***

From 1941 to 1989, she played a great heroic role as defender of freedom, sacrificing and serving mankind, a role of which we can be forever proud. But having won that epochal struggle against the evil empire, we found ourselves in a world for which we were unprepared. Now, like an aging athlete, we keep trying to relive the glory days when all the world looked with awe upon us.

We can’t let go, because we don’t know what else to do. We live in yesterday – and our rivals look to tomorrow.

*** end quote ***

Why are we still in Germany and a slew of other strange places?

Why are American girls and boys dying in the Sandbox, the Rockbox, and a slew of other places?

Why are American politicians immune from “We, The Sheeple”?

Peace. Now!

If women ever decide that they want a peaceful world, they can have it. In minutes! (OK, maybe not minutes. But so quick, it’ll seem like minutes.)

“Yes, when we get out of here. We’re going to have to fix that. You know we control something that can get it done. Not the ballot box, but the other box. INTERESTING: Buying decisions are the equivalent of “micro elections”

Saturday, December 4, 2010

http://www.lewrockwell.com/murphy/murphy170.html

The TSA’s False Tradeoff
by Bob Murphy

*** begin quote ***

The market economy solves this problem effortlessly through market prices and the profit-and-loss test. If a car factory is using up resources that consumers would prefer go into alternate sectors, this fact manifests itself objectively when the accountant announces that the car factory is “losing money.” After all, to be unprofitable simply means that the car factory cannot earn enough revenues from its customers in order to pay the prices for resources that other entrepreneurs are able to afford. That is the sense in which consumers are “voting” (through their spending decisions) that the car factory either reform or shut down.

*** end quote ***

We need to emphasize more these micro elections and de-emphasize the Gooferment.

We can control corporations with the very fine razor of individual buying decisions. No bureaucrats needed.

The Gooferment on the other hand is immune to our intentions. Completely.

Like some wag said, “if elections changed anything, they’d be outlawed”!

Xenographic writes “NPR has a story about someone whose personal iPhone got remotely wiped by their employer. It was actually a mistake, but it was something of a surprise because they didn’t believe they had given their employer any kind of access to do that. This may already be very familiar to Microsoft Exchange admins, but the problem was her iPhone’s integration with MS Exchange automatically gives the server admin access to do remote wipes. As an IT guy, I assume they are talking about a corrupted database, where the the software develops the IT equivalent of Alzheimer’s. Summon programmer.” To which the programmer says: “<synonym for excrement>” and schedules rebuilding the index. That’s like a Doctor’s secretary having to go through every file folder recreating an index into the filing cabinet. Long and cumbersome for people. Same for computers.) The fact that there’s a “holiday” around when the problem occurs makes me suspect that there was a change or testing going on. When I had a Dister Recovery Group, Tday Weekend was a great time for testing. Basically four days with minimal requirement from “real people”. It’s one of the most highly sought weekends by IT people to do “stuff”. So, when ANY holiday comes, think of the herds of nerds globally changing stuff. If that doesn’t inspire you to take a little extra cash and make a few preps for at least a little outage, then you are truly clueless. :-)

OH MY GOSH, the ignorance in this country kills me (I declined the invite to blog about this saying I would write a scathing post, but he said that was okay, they want conversation. So, converse in the comments :) ). And it really, really hurts everyone. Here are his 10 points, I’m only going to comment on the last one:

*** end quote ***

# # # # #

Perhaps, the era of “the job” is over. Like the “gold watch” era, the American Worker has now grown up, and had the triple veil of naivete, ignorance, and deception ripped away.

• naivete — Not realizing that there has to be value creation in order for the enterprise to reward the worker’s efforts with some of that value. Think UAW member who goofs off.

• ignorance — Not realizing that they were getting screwed by their employer in: salary, bonus, pension and benefits. As well as by their government in: inflation, taxes, “regulation”, bailouts, and ponzi schemes <Social Security and Unemployment Insurance>. Think working for the American Dream and having it taken away.

• deception — Not realizing that the leaders and managers of the “company” and the “Government” were lying to them. (Far beyond spin. Look you right in the eye, and lie to your face.) The annual appraisal ritual with its “political” adjustments <Not everyone can be outstanding>, “pensions and benefits” are for your good <Peanuts to fool you into thinking we care>, and finally appeals to “team spirit” (work through the tough times to get laid off when it suits the leadership).

I’d suggest that in self-defense, people have become cynical. To quote one of the “judge shows”, “Wouldn’t believe him if his tongue was notarized.”

IMHO, I think we are seeing that there is a glacial movement in the employment marketplace. Folks are realizing that they may have to work to survive, but that their interests may NOT align with the enterprise. In fact they DO NOT align.

Trust!?

Not on your life. Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me.

I see people trying to form their own businesses. Much like you did. If I can’t have a full time job, maybe I can have a dozen part-time ones. If I do have a full time job, maybe I can have a webfront to sell seashells from the seashore. If I do have job, I don’t expect to keep it.

Job hopping may be back in vogue because I don’t care if you, the employer, like it, I have to protect myself. And, if it suited your bottom line, I’d be on the unemployment line so fast my head would spin.

No. It’s not “job hopping”; it’s self-defense.

Review commission chair Dan Slane says his members have concluded that “China is adopting a highly discriminatory policy of favoring domestic producers over foreign manufacturers. Under the guise of fostering ‘indigenous innovation’ … the government of China appears determined to exclude foreigners from bidding on government contracts at the central, provincial and local levels.”

Imagine that! The Chinese are ignoring WTO rules and putting China first. Don’t they understand how the Global Economy works? You’re not supposed to tilt the field in favor of the home team.

One knows not whether to laugh or cry.

The policy the Chinese are pursuing, economic nationalism, was virtually invented by the Republican Party. Protectionism was the declared policy of the GOP from the day its first president took office in 1861 to the day Calvin Coolidge left in 1929.

Free trade was the policy of a Great Britain whose clocks those generations of Americans cleaned, even as the Chinese are cleaning ours.

*** end quote ***

It’s interesting to note that the Federal Gooferment was SUPPOSED to be funded by tariffs and excise taxes. If “We, The Sheeple” had stuck to that and followed old George’s RX about “entangling alliances”, then it’s hard to imagine we would not be much better off.

Sometime some one will have to explain to me how “global free trade” helps Americans?

We’ve demonstrated that the “Rich Globalists” seem to have done better than the average Detroit worker.

The Rust Belt comes to mind.

So how do we reverse course while it’s still not too late?

<1> We have to kill the FED. Andrew Jackson was right to kill the corrupt central bank.

<2> We have to create a link between gold and the dollar. Clearly, we need an AUTOMATIC AUTO-PILOT to control spending in the District of Corruption.

<3> We have to learn from the Bank of South Dakota. That’s a model of how to control local funds for the benefit of the “We, The Sheeple”. Note: That “bank” only services municipal Gooferments. No cash cow for banks to leech off of.

<4> We have to kill Fannie and Freddie. And, all Gooferment Sponsored Entities.

<5> Zero the corporate taxes! Only real people pay taxes; so let’s “de-cloak” how much we are really paying in taxes.

<6> Campaign Finance Reform: Only real people can give a candidate money and only from the region they will represent.

What this demonstrates to me is that they will be unable to stop a true “lone wolf”. As soon as, “terrorism” can be done without help by one person, totally alone, then we are going to see more of these incidents but successful in “going off”. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen. But, we better prep like it will. And, personally, I’d stay out of crowds for the duration. Tax cuts for the rich or food for the poor

*** begin quote ***

Washington debates tax cuts for people making more than $250,000 a year, while far too many struggle at the other end of the economic spectrum. Can you say skewed priorities?

*** end quote ***

OK, I’ll try one more time.

You, and your thugs in Gooferment, have no right to steal wealth from honest hard working people.

The 250k nonsense ignores the fact that most small businesses file their taxes as an individual. So, in the frenzy of jealousy to “tax the rich”, you manage to screw most of the small businesses in the USA. Who do you think does most of the hiring?

When you have a “minimum wage”, you interfere with the right of people to freely contract. Minimum prices for wages ensure unemployment!

Please recognize that your “Big Gooferment” whine really hurts the little people. The rich have choices; the poor don’t. For example, the Maryland “millionaire’s tax”, John Kerry on where to dock that boat, doctors that limit their practices, the owner of the Buffalo Sabres moves to Florida, and on and on and on!

Oh and by the way, corporations DON’T pay taxes; only real people do. So guess who can’t avoid paying those “corporate taxes” with a large part of their income? Yup, the poor!

Argh! It seems so OBVIOUS.

# – # – #

And, the false choice in the title is absurd. It’s not like an either or.

But why don’t supermarkets, restaurants, churches, apartment complexes, clothing stores, dog groomers, and other service providers in Fairfax County encounter the same problems that plague the school system? After all, the county is growing just as fast and just as unevenly for these merchants as it is for Fairfax County Public Schools. Yet we never hear that some coffee shops or department stores continue to be overcrowded while others are well under capacity. Why might this be?

*** end quote ***

Of course, the answer is that the politicians and bureaucrats can not possibly know the answers. And, even if they did, they can’t possibly know how to “price” it. (How much of taxpayer money to “invest” in “stuff”?) A McDonalds is easier; an owner figures out how much of his wealth to risk. Of course, he’s going to be “right” more than any bunch of politicians and bureaucrats.

Sorry, but we must separate School and State!

• At $5/day, that’s $150/month for a very limited service from Direct TV that has tremendous weather issues. I have cable service at two residential locations for $40/month. How is that comparable?

• They also rent phone services at $4/day or $120/month. I also have two residential services at 30$/month and cell phones at comparable rates.

• When they fail to collect the fee in person, their collection process charges an exorbitant “handling fee” of $2 on $4.50 “rental”.

I feel they are ripping off people that are a captive audience.

MACBOOKAIR: Hardware problem. (Remember Apple Computers are on my “Not Recommended” list)

“No output sound devices defined” (No input either.)

Conclusion after ½ on the phone is it’s a hardware problem.

NOO, really!

Argh!

They want me to leave the machine for three days for them to diag, order parts, and repair.

You gotta be kidding me.

Or, I can send it in and this is with the extended warranty.

Argh!

This is for a machine that won’t sync. (They never figured that one out either.)

Hence my time machine is a giant router in disguise. That’s all it is good for.

Argh!

BAck when I first got the machine and wasn’t totally “on” it, the screen took a week to replace.

Cloud computing, with all it’s version control issues, is looking better and better.

Argh!
