Child Marriage Just Became Illegal in California
Believe it or not, child marriage is still legal in 32 American states. As of yesterday, California is not one of them.
Gavin Newsom approved legislation making California the 18th state to ban residents from marrying children on Wednesday, signing the bill alongside a woman whose parents allowed her to marry a 50-year-old when she was just 16. Approximately 9,000 girls have married adult men in California each year, according to the advocacy group Unchained At Last. The ban will take effect in January.
It is pretty remarkable that the federal government has never passed a similar law. How can Washington politicians lecture the rest of the world about freedom and democracy, while at the same time turning a blind eye to child marriage in their own country?

Sorry, I’d expect this in some backward thirds world country but not it the USA. I guess that “rich pedophiliac tech elites” that I hear cited on at least two podcast I regularly listen to are absolutely correct to call this out.
