The officer manages to pin Annie while she is laying upside down, before pulling out a handgun and firing a single shot, the deer jolts before going limp.

Under Michigan law, only licensed rehabilitators can legally possess wildlife – meaning families are banned from keeping wild animals as pets.

“What the monsters you last interacted with did to you was cruel, inhumane, and heartless.”

The police are not your friends. They were there for an unrelated mater and, for whatever reason, decided to kill the deer.

Remember someone loaded the Jews on the trains to the death camps. The police don’t “protect and serve” us!

Argh!

Interesting that the deer was “rehabilitated” just like the “law” intended.  Probably send the carcass to the dump.

Who or what authorized Officer David Loza to kill the deer?

Argh!

POLITICAL: Universities should be silently neutral in all debates

FROM TOM WOODS EMAIL NEWSLETTER

*** begin quote ***

It so happens that the University of Chicago adopted precisely the correct position all the way back in 1967, in what became known as the Kalven Report.

The answer: the university itself remains neutral, but the professors themselves are free to do and say as they like.

The university, the statement said, had “a great and unique role to play in fostering the development of social and political values in a society,” but that role is one “for the long term.” Day-to-day debates were not matters for solemn and official statements by the university per se.”

“There is no mechanism by which it can reach a collective position without inhibiting that full freedom of dissent on which it thrives. It cannot insist that all of its members favor a given view of social policy; if it takes collective action, therefore, it does so at the price of censuring any minority who do not agree with the view adopted.”

It is the professors themselves who are to carry out the debate. The university is “the home and sponsor of critics; it is not itself the critic.”

This, it seems to me, is the correct approach. No more writing to express your outrage that University X hasn’t yet issued a statement on Issue Y. Its opinion on Issue Y is moronic and worthless anyway. These “statements” by university presidents are better left unwritten. I promise you, dear reader, the world will be a better place without them.

Certainly seems like a good policy for ALL corporations too.

TECHNOLOGY: Here’s a new kind of gift card fraud!

Tuesday, October 24, 2023

FROM NEXTDOOR

• Middlesex, NJ

This happened to me at Walmart. I purchased a 100.00 Play Station card. I took it back and explained I bought this card 5 min ago. I never left the store. I was sending the information to my nephew via text, and I noticed the pin number was already scratched off. They gave me my money back. But I was told by the manager that what is happening is someone is taking a picture of the card number & pin, and when WE buy the card and activate it, the scammers are able to retrieve the gift card funds. Especially around the Holiday time, this happens SO BE CAREFUL – CHECK THE BACK OF THE CARD BEFORE YOU PURCHASE

Interesting.  A new type of fraud.  Sigh!

POLITICAL: It is the border, economy, and the debt, stupid!

It’s The Border, Stupid!
By Brian C. Joondeph

*** begin quote ***

As the 2024 presidential election nears with the world on the brink of, or already in, World War Three, America must make a serious choice in 13 months. Will America course correctly or slide into bankruptcy and irrelevancy on the world stage? Perhaps the feckless Republicans need a rallying cry.

Bill Clinton had one when he ran against ruling class scion George HW Bush. “It’s the economy stupid” was a phrase James Carville coined in 1992 when he was advising Bill Clinton in his successful run for the White House.

In 2023, it’s the economy again, but not only the economy. Our national debt is over $33 trillion, growing by $5 billion a day, with interest payments costing taxpayers almost $2 billion each day. Much of it is or was going to one of the most corrupt countries in the world, holding no vital US interest, or spent on the nonsensical “Green New Deal,” while most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

Hopefully, “We, The Sheeple” can keep three priorities in their mind when they are voting!

ENCOURAGING: How to “encourage” good behavior

https://www.quora.com/Can-you-legally-leave-the-restaurant-if-the-waiter-doesn-t-give-you-a-check-in-30-minutes

*** begin quote ***

Any restaurant manger worth his salt would attempt to accommodate a customer in this situation and at the very least give some sort of discount if not just comp the meal outright. Pissed off customers are like a virus to a restaurant and quit often lead to their deaths. The saying is if somebody is happy with their experience they’ll tell their friends but if they’re unhappy they’ll tell everyone.

*** end quote ***

I’d go a little futher and let me share my strategy and tactics to help “the invisible hand of the marketplace” administer some “market discipline”.  If I am happy or unhappy, then I not only tell everyone but I also use social media to praise or complain.  I don’t know if my social media posts make a difference but sometimes I get a positive response from the target.

YMMV

RANT: Trump’s gag order

Saturday, October 21, 2023

FROM 1440

*** begin quote ***

Trump fined for violating gag order in civil fraud trial in New York.

A judge fined former President Donald Trump $5K for not removing a post on Truth Social in which Trump made inflammatory remarks toward the judge’s law clerk. Trump had been ordered to remove the post earlier this month. Trump and members of his family face a $250M lawsuit over financial fraud allegations from New York Attorney General Letitia James.

*** end quote ***

Why 5k$?

Argh!

One would have been fair.

I think we should copy and paste that post all over the inet.

And, the clerk and judge should be disqualified for prejudice.

It’s obviously a political vendetta!

Argh!

HISTORICAL: ‘if you save one life you save the world’

BRIAN VINER: In a week of horror, the hero who saved hundreds of Jewish children is the best of humanity
By Brian Viner
Published: 20:18 EDT, 13 October 2023 | Updated: 20:30 EDT, 13 October 2023

*** begin quote ***

The European premiere of One Life at the London Film Festival this week felt remarkably timely.

James Hawes’s drama is about the best of humanity, which arrives as we continue to digest news about the worst of humanity.

More specifically, in a week in which hundreds of Jewish children have been massacred, here is a tale about hundreds of Jewish children being saved, thanks to the tireless efforts of numerous people, but above all a London stockbroker called Nicholas Winton, played in old age by Sir Anthony Hopkins and as a young man by Johnny Flynn.

The film’s title is lifted from an old Hebrew proverb which suggests that ‘if you save one life you save the world’.

Its narrative flits back and forth between the late 1930s and the late 1980s. In 1938 and 1939, we see Winton spearheading British attempts to extract children from the Czech capital Prague ahead of a German invasion that everyone knew was imminent.

*** end quote ***

There are a number of people who stepped up at tremendous personal cost to save Jews from the Nazis prior to and during WW2.

The comparison between this week’s murders by Hamas and the actions of the Nazis makes the Nazis look “better”.  The Nazis kept their actions secret because they knew that they were wrong.  By comparison, the Hamas terrorists claim that they are doing Allah’s work without shame.

Now let’s compare all the folks before, during, and after WW2 who were willfully ignorant or down right obstructive of saving their fellow humans to the people today who are doing something similar.

IMHO, there is NO possible excuse for what Hamas did to all these victims.  Especially the babies and children.

While I have very little power and influence, I pray for their safety and well-being and have no difficulty expression my revulsion for Hamas sympathizers.

Breaking Biden’ Author: Five Takeaways from Joe’s Duplicitous Oval Office Address About Ukraine

  • President Joe Biden addresses the nation from the Oval Office of the White House on October 19, 2023 in Washington, DC. President Biden discussed the U.S.’s response to the Hamas-Israel conflict, humanitarian assistance in Gaza, and the continued support for Ukraine during Russia’s ongoing invasion.

4. Joe Wants More Cash for the Military-Industrial Complex

As I document in Breaking Biden, Joe Biden and his cabinet are in league with the military-industrial complex, none more so than his Secretary of State, Antony Blinken. Blinken, whom I refer to as the “Secretary of Boeing,” was the managing director of the Penn Biden Center (home of Joe’s infamous classified documents) and co-founded WestExec Advisors, a boutique D.C. consultancy focused on “advising companies on geopolitical risk and emerging opportunities.” He also helped orchestrate the “Russian disinfo” hoax letter that got the Hunter Biden “Laptop from Hell” censored before the 2020 election, along with 50 of his Deep State buddies.

*** end quote ***

What part of “the USA is broke” doesn’t “District of Corruption” understand?

Cut spending now.  And start with “foreign aid”!

“Condors are curious animals and, much like a small child, will investigate strange things they come across with their mouths,” they added.

The largest flying land birds in the Western Hemisphere also have an affinity for shiny objects, such as coins, metal keys and wrappers, which they could ingest if found in the canyon.

“Condors are not meant to digest metal and many times cannot pass these objects,” parks rangers said.

It’s called LITTERING.

And unlike Japan, people seem to think that being slobs or just inconsiderate is perfectly acceptable behavior.

Argh!

I have no solution other than not doing anything like that myself.
