JOBFINDING: two traditional telecommunication engineers … at UPenn

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

*** begin quote ***

I am looking to hire two traditional telecommunication engineers here at Penn. I thought I would check with you and your “network” to see if you knew of anyone that may be looking for full-time employment that has a telecommunications background. In particular with Call Centers, VoIP, traditional analog PBX services etc for 25,000 customers (Penn Campus).

I have no more information. {Sargent Shultz says “I know nuthin, Nuting, Nothing at all”!} I put it all in the post. Writing me for more info is a waste of your time and mine.

If you’re interested, leave a blog comment with your name and email. I’ll either send you the contact info, or forward your info to them. Depending upon what they prefer. Either way, you’ll get something back from me.

Note: Don’t put your email in the comment itself unless you want spam from a trollbot. The comment form allows you to put your name, email, and website address.

You might want to include a link to a http://www.emurse.com/ resume or such similar site. I recommend making oneself easy to be found.

You might want to take time to write a short cover on it. You never know who reads these things. You might find your own lead from it (i.e., someone, looking to hire an X, finds me saying someone is looking for X, and ‘poaches’ all the people who responded.). YMMV

Good luck and good hunting.

TECHNOLOGY: Take care GOOGLE DOCS

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

I was using Google Documents to write my story. I’ve been burnt several times in doing this on various platforms and softwares. This was no different but surprised me. I was banging away stringing words and poof! Poof?! All my pearls disappeared. I was in a dither. Poking around it was was back to its original state. Lost about an hour’s worth of work. Kept looking and thinking. Found something in the Help about ‘revisions’. There I found my awol text. replaced by something. I copied it to an email and gave up in disgust. Argh!

LIBERTY: Gooferment should have no role in defining marriage

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

http://news.yahoo.com/;_ylt=Am_Q6uX2hi5hKj.cyy69k25Aw_IE

*** begin quote ***

SAN FRANCISCO – Dozens of gay couples were married Monday night after California became the second state to allow same-sex nuptials, offering a preview of the euphoria and anger to come as gay couples from across the nation head west to wed.

*** end quote ***

Here’s yet another example of gooferment being in stuff where it should have no role. Marriage originated in the Church. The tax policy flowed over into the gooferment picking winners and losers. It gets people fighting among themselves as opposed to fighting the politician trying to rn everyones lives.

RANT: Much ado about nothing — the Olympics

American Becky Hammon Called ‘Traitor’ for Representing Russia at the Olympics
Posted Jun 15th 2008 9:55AM by Michael David Smith
Filed under: Women’s Sports, USA

*** begin quote ***

Becky Hammon is an American who plays for the WNBA’s San Antonio Silver Stars. She’s also going to play in the Olympics in Beijing — but not for Team USA.

Instead, Hammon will play for Russia’s Olympic basketball team. Hammon has no Russian ancestry, but she has played professionally in Russia, and she became a Russian citizen to aid her basketball career. In the eyes of the International Olympic Committee, that’s good enough for her to play for Russia.

That doesn’t sit well with some in this country. During a CNN interview, Team USA women’s basketball coach Anne Donovan referred to Hammon as a “traitor.” Similar sentiments were expressed today on ESPN’s Outside the Lines.

*** end quote ***

WHO CARES!

It’s not like the Olympics means anything.

Except maybe to keep the illusion of ‘country’ going.

RANT: Another great example of man’s inhumanity to man

The Weapon of Rape
By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF
Op-Ed Columnist
Published: June 15, 2008

*** begin quote ***

… my most indelible memory from my most recent visit, last year, came as I was interviewing a young woman who had been gang-raped.

I had taken her aside to protect her privacy, but a large group of women suddenly approached. I tried to shoo them away, and then the women explained that they had all been gang-raped and had decided that despite the stigma and risk of reprisal, they would all tell their stories.

So let’s hope that this week the world’s leaders and diplomats stop offering excuses for paralysis and begin emulating the courageous outspokenness of those Congolese women.

*** end quote ***

And ‘world leaders’ debate global warming’, and one half the world’s population is targeted by this ‘strategy’. Maybe not today, right now, but if it’s ever deemed ‘acceptable’, it’s a gun aimed at every woman.

Another great example of man’s inhumanity to man.

Argh.

Well spoken fellow demonstrates why ‘gun freedom’ is the blue ribbon litmus test of politicians. Victim disarmament first; genocide second!

OSHJ: never to know

As I drove to the store, I saw a big black bird with something in its beak being pursued by two smaller brown birds — a morsel or a baby; I drove on never to know — so much like most things in life.

RANT: slapstick doesn’t come cheap

Saturday, June 14, 2008

http://www.lewrockwell.com/akers/akers86.html

*** begin quote ***

This slapstick doesn’t come cheap. The TSA, which annually eats about $6 billion of our taxes, has gobbled $36 billion since it began operations in 2002. That means we’ve spent $1,800,000 to keep each of those 20,000 terrorists off our flights – not counting the Department of Homeland Security’s billions. Heck, let’s disband the TSA and pay off Al Qaeda instead. Six billion divided among 20,000 terrorists gives every man $300,000 per year. Tell me they’d rather live in caves than retire to some Mediterranean mansion on our money.

McBookaire: Last night’s work lost

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Argh!

All the work on chapter 63 was lost.

I don’t know if it was McBa’s fault or operator error.

I have to print everything I do on this project before I leave a file. Luggable has screwed me once very badly on this project loosing three wee hours of the morning prose. Now McBa screwed me out of an hour of not so beautiful prose.

Argh! Argh!

Maybe I should use a typewriter? This is a productivity enhancement?

Argh! Argh! Argh!

Sent a chapter of the novel over to McBa. Worked fine. Did some work no it saved it. And this morning McBa says something to the effect that “you might be surprised at the results”.

Aghhh!

Surprised is NOT the word I’d use.

RANT: Google is allowing the blogosphere to be polluted

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

http://york-college.blogspot.com/2008/06/york-college_08.html

Google is allowing the blogosphere to be polluted with trash scrapper sites like this. I’ve run into a bundle in doing Jasper Jottings. Every college in the world is represented with this trash.

They’ve ever got a way of turning off the ‘flag this site’ feature. (Or did Google eliminate it?) I complained to Google and got a form letter back.

Argh!
