FAIRTAX NEWS
***Begin Quote***
Congressman John Linder (R-Ga), co-author of The FairTax Book and the father of the FairTax in the U.S. Congress has shared some news with stalwart FairTax supporters. I received this email from him yesterday and thought I would share it with you:

> See? The news from Washington isn’t all bad.
No it’s terrible. These fools think they are making the situation better.
Consider:
(1) Unless they repeal the 16th amendment, we’ll wind up with BOTH the “far tax”, a bad hidden sales tax, AND the income tax.
(2) It increase the dole. Everyone in the USA will be getting a check and conditioned to “get something for nothing” from DC.
(3) Create work for a whole new class of bureaucrats. Social Security will need new staff to send out these checks. The IRS will need more staff to catch “cheaters”.
(4) It rearranges the deck chairs on the Titanic by doing nothing to reduce the size and cost of gooferment.
(5) It revalidates (i.e., reauthorizes) the idea that Americans approve of the slavery of taxation, the theft of property, the abuse of government, because the majority of voters voted for these fools in DC.
Arghhh,

Fjohn
You have not read and understood the FairTax information.
(1) Efforts to repeal the 16th are already underway:
H.J.RES.16 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the sixteenth article of amendment.
This legislation already has 4 co-sponsors in Congress.
Also, we could end up with a national sales tax as well as the income tax today; the idea has been discussed on Capitol Hill.
(2) Nobody gets anything for nothing. The prebate comes from tax revenue raised by consumer spending in the previous month.
(3) Yes, the Social Security agency will need more staff but that’s not an issue. It’s
the best agency to disburse the prebate.
The IRS will play no role in enforcement. Retailers will collect the FairTax, and the states will audit retailers.
(4) The FairTax isn’t meant to do that. However, it will make Congress more accountable to the taxpayers since taxpayers control the tax base. The FairTax transfers power from government to the people. That’s a good start to reducing its size.
(5) It revalidates (i.e., reauthorizes) the idea that Americans approve of the slavery of taxation…
The Constitution gives government the power of taxation, but only in the form of consumption taxes. Nobody likes taxes, but we have to fund government somehow.
…the theft of property…
That’s eminent domain, not tax reform.
…the abuse of government…
The FairTax will slow that down. See (4).
…because the majority of voters voted for these fools in DC.
Our system in action.
Please read the FairTax book again.
