BELMAR — The New Jersey Department of Transportation is defending its oversight of a Jersey Shore drawbridge that will be out of service all summer, the time when traffic in the area is the busiest.

Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone blasted state transportation officials for lackluster maintenance, saying that could have avoided the full closure of the Shark River Bridge, which connects Avon-by-the-Sea and Belmar.

Why is anyone surprised when Gooferment fails to do its job?

It’s not like the politicians and bureaucrats of the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee don’t know that this bridge is a constant problem.  Why in this day and age do we still have drawbridges?  And especially on critical roadways?

Thanks Governor Murphy; another great success!

NEWJERSEY: Three juveniles were charged with felony murder

MILLVILLE — Three teens have been charged with shooting at a 17-year-old high school junior as he was driving on Saturday night.

The family of Lucas DeGeorge said he was behind the wheel on Washington Street in Millville when a shot was fired, causing him to lose control and crash around 10 p.m.

The Buena Regional High School junior was pronounced dead at Inspira Medical Center Vineland.

Sadly this is a trend in crime.  It is like “juveniles” think they are in a video game and some sort of magical reset button will bring back life.

I see it my little one’s world.  Can’t distinguish between movies and games with what happens IRL.

Argh!

I have to believe that “We, The Sheeple” need to recognize that:

  • “I told you that ‘juvenile delinquent’ is a contradiction in terms. ‘Delinquent’ means ‘failing in duty.’ But duty is an adult virtue—indeed a juvenile becomes an adult when, and only when, he acquires a knowledge of duty and embraces it as dearer than the self-love he was born with. There never was, there cannot be a ‘juvenile delinquent.’ But for every juvenile criminal there are always one or more adult delinquents—people of mature years who either do not know their duty, or who, knowing it, fail.” ― Robert A. Heinlein, Starship Troopers
  • And, “broken windows” aka petty crime  — in criminology, the broken windows theory states that visible signs of crime, antisocial behavior and civil disorder create an urban environment that encourages further crime and disorder, including serious crimes.[1] The theory suggests that policing methods that target minor crimes, such as vandalism, loitering, public drinking and fare evasion, help to create an atmosphere of order and lawfulness.  — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory

We have to insist that we distinguish between “children” and “juveniles”.  The dividing line can’t be 16, 17, or 18.  But 12/13.  With compassion for children who commit crimes and juveniles who may not get the same punishment as an adult, but severe enough to change their thinking.

Argh!

I guess that’s why the universe delivers 1.04 boys to 1.00 girls in population studies.

Only the puppy was “innocent”.

Sometimes the “Darwin Award” is funny like the man hitting the sleeping crocodile because he want to see some action.  In this case, it’s just sadly needless.

NEWJERSEY: Time for some judges and prseecutors to be fired!

Prosecutors and judges kept giving him new chances. And he kept returning to his girlfriend’s life.

It was a decades-long cycle of brutal violence and lenient justice that came to a head on Jan. 9 in South Brunswick when Roman Romanovskiy, not for the first time, placed his rage-filled hands around the neck of a woman, police said.

But this time, Lauren Saldana, 38, did not survive. This time, a 5-year-old boy witnessed the homicide of his mother by his father, just steps from his newborn brother.

This time, Romanovskiy, just seven months into a probationary term of four years for a seemingly unprovoked assault on two other people, was accused of the most heinous charge after a life of terrorizing others.

“This isn’t fair and was never supposed to happen,” Saldana’s oldest child said in a heartbreaking post on Facebook two days after her mother was killed. “I will fight for her memory and make sure justice is served for her 3 sons and myself, no matter what it takes.”

*** end quote ***

OK, let’s start names and kicking asses. (Yeah, I said it.)

Sorry but this criminal was not some young first-time non-violent offender who deserved the benefit of the doubt or leniency.

Everyone involved should be publicly outed and scorned.

Judges should be impeach for poor judgement.  The attorneys involved should be censured. And any prosecutors, politicians and bureaucrats should be fired.

And, by the way, what was Roman Romanovskiy immigration and drug testing status?

NEWJERSEY: “We”, the middle and working-class families, need to keep the politicians and bureaucrats focused on our priorities

California fire disaster wake-up call: New Jersey is next without action
Bill Spadea
Published: January 10, 2025

*** begin quote ***

The bottom line is that we need to keep the environmental wackos in check so that we are managing our forests, keeping our reservoirs filled and stopping overdevelopment, which has a negative impact on water pressure and infrastructure potentially making it much harder for firefighters to do their jobs.

The state needs to encourage and empower local fire departments to recruit young people into the departments and eliminate harmful mandates that keep recruiting down.

All firefighters, both volunteer and career, should receive free cancer screening and Chapter 78 pension reform should be struck down until overall insurance costs are brought down.

*** and ***

Politicians in Trenton want to pit public workers against the private sector as if it’s us vs. them. What they have completely wrong is the “us” in the equation are all middle and working-class families, whether you’re working the public or private sector. The “them” in the equation are the back-room Trenton insiders who have been profiting on our backs for far too long. It is the real us vs. them and it’s time we hold them accountable and take back Trenton government for us.

*** end quote ***

I think that Bill Spadea is absolutely correct about the “us vs. them”.  Too long we have allowed politicians and bureaucrats to pit us against each other.

In this particular case, the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee can learn from the California fires without having to experience them personally.  Same as floods, let’s take “lessons learned” and transform them into positive actions.

We have fires here in New Jersey every year.  (Remember the Garden State Parkway being closed by smoke recently.)  Where is the plan to mitigate and control.

We have floods here in New Jersey every year.  (Remember the town named Bound Brook. It’s for a reason.)  Where is the plan for that.

We have an “insurance cancellation” problem here in New Jersey every year.  (Remember the various harror stories about being cancelled for a stained roof or dilapidated shed?). Where is our plan for eminent domaining properties that are repeatedly flooded?  Or no coverage to rebuild in disaster zones. And, certainly not rebuilding mansions at the shore repeatedly covered by flood insurance. How about state wide “insurance pools” run like credit unions?

Let’s not let the politicians and bureaucrats lull us back to sleep with vague promises only to be reawakened by disasters.

NEWJERSEY: Central Planners know best in “affordable housing construction” — not the Free Market!

Fury in NJ as state forces affordable housing construction
Rick Rickman Published: December 28, 2024

*** begin quote ***

In a bold and controversial move, New Jersey is forcing its municipalities to build thousands of new affordable housing units — and local leaders are pushing back.

The state’s latest mandate has some municipalities reeling, with mayors warning that the plan is asking too much and threatens to completely change the character of their communities.

Earlier in 2024, the state Department of Community Affairs released its first official list of affordable housing requirements for every municipality. This follows the passage of a new law that forces municipalities to comply with a constitutional obligation dating back decades.

Aahhha, yes, the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee kommissars have issued new diktats and you slaves will obey.

Sorry, but this sounds like it should be coming from North Korea or China; not the USA.

The fourth branch of Gooferment is the bureaucrats in the regulatory state.  Hence, the other branches can avoid blame by pointing at the out of control “regulators”.

Argh!

Sorry but does anyone think that these are “good ideas”.  The invisible hand of the marketplace provides what the people want.  If the politicians and bureaucrats would get out of the way, then we could have “utopia”.

The FED, the FHA – FREDDIE – FANNIE, and countless federal / state regulations make building “affordable housing” impossible.  Who in their right mind would get into the rental housing business?

NEWJERSEY: Remember the infamous movie Nazi demand: “Your papers!”

🚗 New Jersey may make it easier to complete in-person transactions at the MVC

🚗 The changes would impact REAL ID in New Jersey

🚗 Legislation would let you leave with your license, instead of waiting for it to be mailed

On the long list of frustrations many have with New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle Commission, not leaving with what you went there is for is near the top.

If you make an in-person appointment for a REAL ID driver’s license, for example, you won’t be able to take it with you when you leave.

*** end quote ***

Personally, I see no need for “real id”. Why the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee is cooperating with the Federal Gooferment makes no sense. Maybe people will remember the infamous movie Nazi demand: “Your papers!”. Time to push back on intrusive Gooferment. Not like id is required to vote!

LAKEWOOD — A teen was charged with vehicular homicide after police say he drove 88.6 mph in a 45 mph zone and hit a car that was making a left turn.

Aryeh Bakst was driving a 2023 Tesla sedan west on West County Line Road around 9 a.m. on March 3.

Surveillance video of the crash posted by The Lakewood Scoop shows the Tesla slamming into a 2013 Toyota Corolla driven by Jules Brotsky, 82, of Lakewood, who making a left turn onto Laurelwood Avenue from the eastbound lanes.

The minivan spun backward several times down the road while the Tesla hit a utility pole.

Where and in what world does a “teenager” get a Tesla to drive?

Now we all drive a little faster than speed limits, but 88 in a 45 is more than just a little.

At what point does this become murder?

And who ever put this car in the hands of a teenager has some culpability as well.

Time to throw the book at all involved.
