BELMAR — The New Jersey Department of Transportation is defending its oversight of a Jersey Shore drawbridge that will be out of service all summer, the time when traffic in the area is the busiest.

Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone blasted state transportation officials for lackluster maintenance, saying that could have avoided the full closure of the Shark River Bridge, which connects Avon-by-the-Sea and Belmar.

It’s not like the politicians and bureaucrats of the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee don’t know that this bridge is a constant problem.  Why in this day and age do we still have drawbridges?  And especially on critical roadways?

Thanks Governor Murphy; another great success!

Sadly this is a trend in crime.  It is like “juveniles” think they are in a video game and some sort of magical reset button will bring back life.

I see it my little one’s world.  Can’t distinguish between movies and games with what happens IRL.

Argh!

I have to believe that “We, The Sheeple” need to recognize that:

  • “I told you that ‘juvenile delinquent’ is a contradiction in terms. ‘Delinquent’ means ‘failing in duty.’ But duty is an adult virtue—indeed a juvenile becomes an adult when, and only when, he acquires a knowledge of duty and embraces it as dearer than the self-love he was born with. There never was, there cannot be a ‘juvenile delinquent.’ But for every juvenile criminal there are always one or more adult delinquents—people of mature years who either do not know their duty, or who, knowing it, fail.” ― Robert A. Heinlein, Starship Troopers
  • And, “broken windows” aka petty crime  — in criminology, the broken windows theory states that visible signs of crime, antisocial behavior and civil disorder create an urban environment that encourages further crime and disorder, including serious crimes.[1] The theory suggests that policing methods that target minor crimes, such as vandalism, loitering, public drinking and fare evasion, help to create an atmosphere of order and lawfulness.  — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory

We have to insist that we distinguish between “children” and “juveniles”.  The dividing line can’t be 16, 17, or 18.  But 12/13.  With compassion for children who commit crimes and juveniles who may not get the same punishment as an adult, but severe enough to change their thinking.

Argh!

What can one say when stupidity results in a disaster?

I guess that’s why the universe delivers 1.04 boys to 1.00 girls in population studies.

Only the puppy was “innocent”.

Sometimes the “Darwin Award” is funny like the man hitting the sleeping crocodile because he want to see some action.  In this case, it’s just sadly needless.

I feel for their parents and friends.

LAKEWOOD — A teen was charged with vehicular homicide after police say he drove 88.6 mph in a 45 mph zone and hit a car that was making a left turn.

Aryeh Bakst was driving a 2023 Tesla sedan west on West County Line Road around 9 a.m. on March 3.

Surveillance video of the crash posted by The Lakewood Scoop shows the Tesla slamming into a 2013 Toyota Corolla driven by Jules Brotsky, 82, of Lakewood, who making a left turn onto Laurelwood Avenue from the eastbound lanes.

The minivan spun backward several times down the road while the Tesla hit a utility pole.

Where and in what world does a “teenager” get a Tesla to drive?

Now we all drive a little faster than speed limits, but 88 in a 45 is more than just a little.

At what point does this become murder?

And who ever put this car in the hands of a teenager has some culpability as well.

Time to throw the book at all involved.
