When I was watching the Thursday Night Game of the Week … …
… … many questions came to mind:
“watching 49/rams. too late for me.” Starts after 2030 Local and Halftime was after 2130. Past my bedtime!
They’re in Australia? It was a 10AM local game time. How did they get such a crowd on a week day work day morning?
Was it a ”Potemkin village” event — all show and no substance?
How much was subsidized by the Australian Taxpayer for commercials saying “Come Say G’Day”? What was the USA Taxpayers’ share — tax breaks, cash subsidies, special handling, “developmental loans” that never get paid back.
What incentives lured in a “enthusiastic sell out crowd”? Hired extras? Who paid for the garb, souvenirs, props?
I just wonder about the “whole show” and how much of it was staged?
I remember reading that the NFL lost its proverbial shirt on placing the games in Europe. Free tickets, paid attendees, carefully curated crowd shots, and all manner of other “marketing gimmicks”.
We have astroturf “citizens’ groups”. Why can’t we have astroturf “fans” too?
Argh!
Can’t trust anything anymore.
Couldn’t the whole thing be an AI video?
