So my 9th grade son is taking AP government and his coy teacher says she won’t reveal her political leanings…but then gives it away with her idiotic opinion of the 2nd amendment is being used wrong because it means only people in a militia can have guns. Sigh.

So in providing my son with the basis for an argument to proffer to her as to why that is wrong it suddenly dawned on me how truly absurd that position is. A militia by definition must be armed. An unarmed militia is like an orchestra with no instruments. Why would you create an amendment to protect a right that is implied in the nature of the thing. It would be like guaranteeing all doctors the right to keep and bear scalpels, or fireman the right to keep and bear hoses.

*** end quote ***

We have to de-federalize the military and get back to state militias and troops under the control of their governors and funded by the individual States.

Military Industrial Complex, that Ike warned us about, leads to a military run amok.

Argh!

RANT: Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerzee seeks to further restrict the RKBA

2016-Aug-06

Even more the gas tax protest, I think that any infringement on anyone’s Second Amendment right is priority one. There’s a well established connection between “gun control” and genocide. Can’t happen here? As the American Indians, those poor souls at Waco, and any black American.

Just today, I learned of a fellow Jasper jogger raped and killed in Howard Beach. It may be “un P C” but I wondered in my post on it if “Makes me want to rethink capital punishment. And, makes me wonder if she’d had a 380 in addition to an iPhone, then would thinks have been different. Dona Nobis Pacem.”

“Victim disarmament is the view that it is somehow better to see a woman raped in an alley and strangled with her own pantyhose, than see her with a gun in her hand.” — T.D. Melrose

I’d like to see every woman who wants to defend herself to have that RIGHT. Notice that the elite, politicians, and bureaucrats manage to exempt themselves from the “diktats for the little people”. All the liberals in Hollywood can be anti-gun because they have their own security, usually armed.

My fellow Jasper was fit, young, healthy woman who foght her attacker and lost. Hence the following quote:

“God made men and women; Sam colt made them equal.” — Unknown

Make a call to “your” politician and let them know your wishes.
Sadly,

Subject: New Jersey: Legislature Attempting to Unilaterally Block Gov. Christie’s “Justifiable Need” Improvements

NRA-ILA: Institute for Legislative ActionNew Jersey: Legislature Attempting to Unilaterally Block Gov. Christie’s “Justifiable Need” Improvements

On Monday, August 8, at 10:00 a.m. in Committee Room 1 of the State House Annex, the New Jersey Senate Law and Public Safety Committee is scheduled to hold a procedurally required hearing on the legislature’s maneuver to kill incremental improvements in the “justifiable need” standard to qualify for a handgun carry permit that were recommended by Governor Christie and implemented by the State Police earlier this year.

There will likely be no vote taken by the committee on Monday, but the NJ Constitution (Article V, Section IV, paragraph 6) requires that a transcript of the hearing be provided to all members of the legislature before the entire legislature can take a final vote, so it is important that all members of the legislature hear from gun owners right now.

New Jersey’s “Justifiable Need” standard is one of the strictest in the nation and is preventing law-abiding citizens from being able to carry a firearm for self-defense in times of emergency.  Governor Christie’s improvements to the right to carry caused anti-gun legislators to panic.  They subsequently decided to use this procedural legislative maneuver in order to prevent these improvements from being implemented.  Anti-gun legislators in New Jersey do not want you to be able to defend yourself, and they are going all out to make sure of it.

Please attend the hearing on Monday and voice your opposition to this egregious attempt to prevent the strengthening of New Jersey’s self-defense laws.  Also, contact your lawmakers and politely urge them to oppose this ridiculous procedural maneuver.

TECHNOLOGY: Comcast service plans — worthless according to WA

Washington state sues Comcast, says it sold near-worthless service plans
Comcast defends $5-per-month service plans, will fight $100 million lawsuit.
JON BRODKIN – 8/1/2016, 1:42 PM

*** begin quote ***

Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson today announced a $100 million consumer protection lawsuit against Comcast, alleging that the nation’s biggest cable company “engag[ed] in a pattern of deceptive practices constituting more than 1.8 million individual violations of the Washington Consumer Protection Act.” Comcast’s conduct affected about 500,000 customers who purchased service protection plans in Washington, Ferguson said.

*** end quote ***

It’s amazing that corporation would be so … … rapacious … …  as to sell basically worthless service plans.

Where’s the FCC and the other 49 states?

And Comcast can’t be the only one.

How about these “extended warranty” products? Where three years equals the cost of the product!

Makes me think that the product is so poorly built that it won’t last three years.

Argh!

That’s why I advocate for chromebook for the average User. Something goes wrong, buy a new one. It’s so cheap. Of the 8 that I am aware of the only failure was from a wine spill over it. My oldest is 4 years old (I think) and has only barfed  up the OS once requiring a reload. (So now all the chromebooks I support have the rescue USB velcroed to the power cord.)

That’s what technology and technology offerings should be like — how Western Electric used to make telephone handsets.

Sigh!

One can only hope

TECHNOLOGY: SSA goes to two factor authentication

Wednesday, August 3, 2016

BY EMAIL

Interesting that the industry is moving AWAY from cell phones as a form of two factor authentication.

Clearly, there is a spectrum of added risks that may NEGATE this additional control.

# – # – # – # – #

Starting in August 2016, Social Security is adding a new step to protect your privacy as a my Social Security user.  This new requirement is the result of an executive order for federal agencies to provide more secure authentication for their online services. Any agency that provides online access to a customer’s personal information must use multifactor authentication.

When you sign in at ssa.gov/myaccount with your username and password, we will ask you to add your text-enabled cell phone number.  The purpose of providing your cell phone number is that, each time you log in to your account with your username and password, we will send you a one-time security code you must also enter to log in successfully to your account.

Each time you sign into your account, you will complete two steps:

  • Step 1:  Enter your username and password.
  • Step 2:  Enter the security code we text to your cell phone (cell phone provider’s text message and data rates may apply).

The process of using a one-time security code in addition to a username and password is one form of “multifactor authentication,” which means we are using more than one method to make sure you are the actual owner of your account.

If you do not have a text-enabled cell phone or you do not wish to provide your cell phone number, you will not be able to access your my Social Security account.

If you are unable or choose not to use my Social Security, there are other ways you can contact us.  To learn more, please review the Frequently Asked Questions found here.

The Strange Gaps in Hillary Clinton’s Email Traffic
An analysis of the released emails raises questions about whether Clinton deleted a number of work-related emails—and if she did, why.
By Peter Schweizer
July 06, 2016

*** begin quote ***

The media has spent a lot of time parsing through the Clinton emails that already have been released—compiling lists, looking for specific names or discussion of particular issues. But they ought to pay more attention to the holes. Bob Woodward has declared that Hillary Clinton’s email scandal “reminds me of the Nixon tapes.” He’s right. In that case and here, it’s not what’s in the record that’s most troubling. It’s what’s not there.

*** end quote ***

Traffic analysis is a cryptographer’s tool.

In this case, it’s the gaps that indict the Clinton team. Clearly, there are deleted emails.

What they say is anyone’s guess.

BUT we can be assured they are significant.

Maybe Trump’s right and the Russians could help find them!

Argh!

Beware of the $2 Drug Test that Could Cost You Everything
By Laurence M. Vance
July 26, 2016

*** begin quote ***

Since it is neither constitutional nor a legitimate purpose of the U.S. government to prohibit, regulate, restrict, license, limit, or otherwise control what any adult American wants to smoke, snort, sniff, inject, or swallow, it follows, as the night the day, that there should be no laws whatsoever concerning the buying, selling, possessing, using, or processing of cocaine in any form for any reason—or any other any drug for that matter.

*** end quote ***

Why did we need a Constitutional Amendment to prohibit alcohol, but not to prohibit “drugs”?

It’s a simple question.

TINFOILHAT: Was Amelia Earhart killed by the Japanese for spying?

Saturday, July 30, 2016

http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Amelia_Earhart

Amelia Earhart

Real Name: Amelia Earhart
Case: Disappearance
Date: July 2, 1937
Location: Howland Island

*** begin quote ***

In October 2014, the piece of aluminum mentioned above, was shown, by precision photographic processes, with accuracy comparable to a finger print, to be that object mentioned. If this is correct, it changes the list of possible sources of Amelia’s disappearance and would totally eliminate the crash and sink theory. It would also disprove the “crashed in the Marshall Islands” theory. It would prove that the Koshu was on Nikumaroro for a while, but was then taken to Jaluit Island with Amelia and Fred on board, and with the Electra attached to Its stern. That is why the search planes never saw them or the plane. They did see “some kind of markers”, probably supports, used to load the Electra. At Jaluit Fred was treated by Bilamon Amaron. They were then, starting on July19, taken to Saipan and locked in, Garapan jail as spies. They did not crash in the Marshalls but were taken there, arriving at Jaluit Island Navy base on July 13, ten days after they went missing. They were never in “two places at the same time!” a statement which had been used to claim that all of the numerous incidents about Amelia in the Marshall Islands and Saipan were false. This information was referenced in “Earhart and Noonan: the Missing Link” by Duane Hamblin.

Argh!

Was this “covered up” by both the Japanese and US Gooferments?

ECONOMICS: What will trigger an “Economic Depression”?

America Needs a Good, Old-Fashioned Economic Depression
By Jay Zawatsky The National Interest
July 25, 2016

*** begin quote ***

Yes, central bankers can print currency units, but not food, energy or other commodities necessary for sustaining life. As basic commodities become more scarce or are priced out of the reach of average folks, wars, riots, rebellions, diseases and repressive governments will result. All of this human suffering will be the progeny of ZIRP, QE, and NIRP, which in turn are the progeny of the replacement of the gold standard by the Ph.D. standard.

*** end quote ***

If we stipulate that this is good “economic medicine” and central banks have no incentive to stop “printing currency units”, then what is the trigger for a depression? Or what is the recognition factor that wakes up “We, The Sheeple” to the reality of one big ugly “economic” chicken coming home to roost.

In Venezuela, it had to be the unavailability of toilet paper at any price.

What will it be here in the USA?

Since “printing the currency units” will lead to inflation, it’s important to hide that fact from “We, The Sheeple”.

But sooner of later, the inputs to production will be bid up and that has to be reflect in the price to the end consumer. At some point, the outputs can not be produced for a profit and compensate for the risk involved.

So when the shelfs begin to be missing “stuff”, that’s the trigger.
