ADMINISTRIVIA: Google site specific search results may be unreliable

2019-Aug-27

On my Jasper Alumni newsletter blog, I try to always check my resources for Class Year before bothering my fellow alum Mike McEneney to look it up for me.  That’s why I really want a wiki.

So today I did a Google Search on “DeLorenzo” site:jasperjottings.com and it didn’t find anything.

Not unusual!

But I also did a search locally on my Marsedit blog posting tool and I was shocked to find a result!

http://www.jasperjottings.com/2012/jj2012W45.html#mozTocId724941

????

Right there. Obvious!!!

I am stunned!

The mighty Google may be wearing the Emperor’s new clothes.  Maybe its search results are more flawed than anyone realizes.

Speechless!

Say it ain’t so.

Public schools ‘rip off’ parents with monkey-making supplies scheme

Sunday, August 25, 2019

One PS 333 employee blasted the arrangement as “kickbacks for crayons.”“They’re ripping parents off,” said the staffer who asked not to be identified for fear of retaliation.“Their prices are really inflated when compared with other retailers that carry the exact same products.”Over the summer, PS 333 emailed parents 11 reminders to buy from Yubbler, touting the “discounted prices” and extra funds for the school.

The Gooferment Skrules, just like any part of the Gooferment, is immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. As well as untrustworthy. And often stupid!

Argh!

Why do they even exist except as a “jobs program” and a political force for politicians?

Argh! Squared!

California Governor Blames Texas For California’s Policies That Caused The Homeless Crisis

Sunday, August 25, 2019

Authored by Mac Slavo via SHTFplan.com, California’s authoritarian governor, Gavin Newsom, blamed the state of Texas for California’s homeless crisis. Rather than put the blame directly on the policies California has instituted that stifle free enterprise and punish heavily those who produce, Newsom said it’s the fault of Texas.

*** begin quote ***

The sad truth is that socialism doesn’t work and it never has in all the times it’s been tried.  Humans are not meant to be slaves and eventually, they figure out that no one has a higher claim over their lives than they do.

*** end quote ***

“The answer certainly isn’t socialism. Middle-class voters currently presume that elites already control the government—so why would they want to give the bureaucracy any more power?” — RAHM EMANUEL was the 44th mayor of Chicago https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/05/middle-class-americans-are-sick-elite-privilege/589849/

Payback: Democrats rig Tulsi Gabbard right out of their next debate

Sunday, August 25, 2019

It goes to show that the Democrats are still the same old Democrats, and up to their old rigging tricks, putting their thumbs down on the scale for the candidates they prefer. They’ve done it before, against Bernie Sanders, and now they are doing it again to avenge Harris.

So there will be NO “peace candidate” in the 2020 D field.

So sad.

Just goes to show that the “anti-war” activists of the 60’s was astroturf!

Maybe I should be a Quaker?

Saturday, August 24, 2019

Job postings. Application forms. In-house credit unions. No, these aren’t the hallmarks of an up-and-coming business or a job fair, but rather, a part of everyday life in one family home in The Great State of Georgia. Mother of three, Shaketha Marion McGregor wanted to teach her munchkins an important real-life lesson about earning money.

This is “dirty pool” or planned obsolesce!

Each box should have an end of life disclosure on in.

Where’s the tech press and the regulators?

The home is on the market for $14.85 million, and features a seven-bedroom, nine bathroom, 7000sqft main residence, as well as 29 beachfront acres, a pool, chef’s kitchen, outdoor fireplace, and two guest wings. Clearly enjoying life after the White House, the former President and First Lady rented out the home for the summer and loved it so much they made an offer, but they haven’t paid the full asking price. Grousbeck has had the property on the market for four years, first listing in 2015,  for $22.5 million.

Zeppelins stopped flying after the Hindenburg disaster. Now scientists want to bring them back.

Thursday, August 22, 2019

“People are afraid of this much more than they should be. In the 40 years before the Hindenburg, all airships basically were filled with hydrogen,” Prentice said. “Yes, there were accidents, and they burned when they had an accident, and they hit the ground, but so did airplanes.”

Dr Amanda Heslegrave, a researcher at the UK Dementia Research Institute, said: “Whilst this study shows that this type of profiling can be useful, they do point out importantly that it would need further work to develop a score at the individual level that would be useful in real life situations.

Thieves steal flat screen TVs after Amazon delivery drivers left them outside an apartment | Daily Mail Online

Tuesday, August 20, 2019

Amazon has defended their selling practices by suggesting Abernathy, as a customer, could have done a number of things to keep his packages safe including scheduling the deliver of the expensive goods for a time when he would be home, or even have them dropped off at a different location.

And how does one “schedule” an Amazon delivery?  There’s no option to do that.

And, even if there was, by my estimate, about 10% of the Amazon deliveries get delayed from the promised “next day delivery”.  Even had one that NEVER showed up.  Argh!

And, why are the “porch pirates” caught and punished?
