The media’s go-to think tank trashes GOP reform without evidence.

Republicans face an uphill battle on tax reform, not least because opponents are willing to invent evidence to stop it. Take Friday’s Tax Policy Center report claiming to be clairvoyant about details of the Republican reform “framework” that haven’t been proposed.

The Tax Policy Center is a joint project of the left-leaning Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute that the media routinely labels “nonpartisan.” Its record of hostility to any GOP tax reform that cuts tax rates shows the opposite. And the latest evidence of bias is its willingness to jump to conclusions about the GOP plan before crucial details are known.

Amazon said it would begin slashing prices on grocery items from bananas to baby kale at its new Whole Foods Market unit right away, serving notice that the e-commerce giant plans to move quickly to shake up the supermarket industry with its $13.7 billion acquisition. The announcement Thursday, which sent stocks of traditional grocers into a fresh tailspin, said price changes for staples and more high-end foods would go into effect as soon as the deal closes on Monday. The company also said its Amazon Prime program, which analysts estimate has more than 60 million members, will become Whole Foods’s customer-rewards program. Stocks for six large food retailers, including Kroger and Wal-Mart, lost around $12 billion in value after the announcement. Grocers and investors say they are concerned that Amazon could start a price war.

A mystery island that has been branded ‘dangerous’ has suddenly formed in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle.

The crescent-shaped mile-long island off the tip of Cape Point in Buxton, North Carolina, began rising from the sea in Spring.

Surrounding the waters of the so-called Devil’s Triangle, the sandbank has been dubbed Shelly Island by locals because of the vast quantities of shells which litter the shore, Virginian Pilot reported .

The new island measures around one-mile long and more than 400 feet wide.
