Ahh, once again, the Nu Jerzee State Gooferment is up to their old tricks. They promised “tax reform” and we are been given a “welfare program”. Property taxes are high here to fund the Gooferment’s Youth Propaganda pre-Prison Training Facilities. So, now we will have lower property taxes, “sort of”. But, not for everyone, based on your “income”. What a joke. A property tax based on income. Isn’t that an “income tax”? How stupid are the tax payers in NJ? First chance I get I’m joining the Free State Project http://www.freestateproject.org and moving to NH.
RANT: REALID has a racial aspect

No one intended it to happen. It was a small thing — just a few letters printed on identity cards. Certainly no one in the Belgian colonial government of Rwanda had any idea that the words “Hutu” and “Tutsi,” printed on pieces of paper, would later enable the murder of between half a million and a million people.
Likewise, no one in the Department of Homeland Security intends anything bad by establishing standards for REAL ID cards that include a designation of ethnicity. In fact, this is an entirely voluntary aspect of the REAL ID program. State governments can choose to designate ethnicity, or not.

Of course, it can’t happen here. Japanese internment aside. Governments kill their citizens! REALID is an abomination, or at least it should be, to all Americans.
RANT: 1015 sports report this morning skipped the NCAA mens bball
Tuesday, April 3, 2007I went to sleep before the end of the Florida – Ohio State mens bball game last night. (TV schedules don’t match my schedules. But, that a different rant.) So this morning, I was interested in who won. The 0609 sports report on 1015 had lots of commercials, the fact that many of the pro teams were idle (Who cares? I assume that, if you don’t report a score, then they didn’t play.) But nary a mention of the 2007 NCAA Final Game. In terms of significance, as if any “game” could be significant, the this has to rank right up there. But, no, no mention. Argh!
p.s., Florida won

Some times the essence of good leadership is to be a good follower. There was an old slogan that went “Lead, Follow, or Get Out Of The Way”. As a “leader” of me, myself, and I, I don’t have to have every great idea personally. Good leaders are good followers. Distilling “leadership”, it’s really about blocking and tackling for the folks who do the work.
In this particular case, KentB has declared a good strategy that we should all get behind.
I’ll go a step further. I’ll denounce it here on my blog for what it is “the aggressive initiation of force on another person”. As a Libertarian, that goes against my basic beliefs. I’ll rally to defend my “neighbor” regardless if they are living next to me, driving next to me, or blogging “next” to me.
Kudos to KentB for hitting the nail on the head. I’m pleased to help hammer it home.
Certain conduct is unacceptable. It won’t be tolerates. And, I’ll ostracize anyone who tries it on any neighbor of mine.
RANT: The plumber told me …
Thursday, March 29, 2007… after he replaced my hot water heater that the building inspector would be by and I had to set the temperature at 120 rather than the higher setting I had it at.
Huh!
I need the gooferment to tell me how hot I can have my water?
RANT: Hey Governor Corzine … … still wanna hear about state cars? … (continued) …
Wednesday, March 28, 2007You don’t? TOO BAD!
This morning 28 March at 0730 est on Route 296 milepost 47 … …
… … a white suv sg 24 301 … …
… zipped down at leisurely 80 (Your serf speed limit is 65)
… tailgating the poor peon in his way
… never left the left lane
(Do you teach them to do that, or is that a qualification for working for the state of nujerzee!?)
… was blissfully blazing down the left lane until impeded by yet another serf trying to get to work to pay the taxes. (How rude of them not to give way before their betters!)
I was especially aggrieved because there were two serfs receiving citations from your centurions on the road way that I passed.
Any way I am sure that the person was hurrying to get away from I assume trenton to protect and serve me.
Arghhh!
P.S.: Dear reader, I don’t write these every day. Just when I ARRIVE early for work, particularly agitated aggravated and have to wait for my employer workstation to get online.
RANT: DELL in addition to being late; sent stuff that doesn’t fit.
Tuesday, March 27, 2007I wanted to reformat LUGGABLE’s drive to reinstall and get rid of the winrot that’s been plaguing me. Argh! So I ordered a DELL XPS drive and the external enclosure. (DELL didn’t meet my dates, expectations, or such but that’s another story.) So, last night, I got around to trying it.
Guess what?
The drive is too big for the enclosure.
Argh!
I pinged for an “return”. How much fun is that going to be.
I may never buy anything online again! Certainly not from DELL.

These days, the cops take sides. They don’t enforce the laws against tailgating, but let a little lady even the odds a bit, and all of a sudden the cops pull out the cuffs.

Getting Screwed
by Karen Kwiatkowski
*** begin quote ***
If serving in a forward combat role in Iraq (and also Afghanistan), you are likely to be male. You are also lacking one or more of the following: a clear mission, quality leadership, the proper equipment, armor, and training, a functional and wise set of standard operating procedures for suppressing a hostile local populace that does not speak your language nor share your customs. When you make a mistake or crack under pressure, you will be thrown to the legal wolves. Unless, of course, you are a senior officer, in which case you have an excellent chance of being quickly promoted out of harm’s way.
If you are injured in combat, you will be rushed into the vast system of hospitals, where you will vie for the attention of an overworked, very frustrated, and yet anonymous and unaccountable set of health care professionals who are increasingly overburdened.
If you are female in uniform, and deployed to Iraq, you face all of the above plus a few more. Sexual harassment, pressure for sex from peers and superiors, abuse, rape and even the chance of dying because you cannot safely hydrate yourself for fear of being raped in the night on your way to the latrine – these additive challenges face our female volunteers.
And that’s all before they come home to Walter Reed or Smallville, USA.
*** end quote ***
I think that Americans should be universally ashamed. The treatment of their soldiers is inexcusable. I don’t think our soldiers should ever be deployed outside of the country. But, for the politicians, who profess to “support” our troops, this shows them for the liars that they are.
If I was congress critter, then I’d call every one of “my” wounded every week. Too many for me to personally call, now I’ll understand the problem. Just as I would insist on my attendance at every funeral. Too many, now I understand the problem.
Argh!
