LIBERTY: And, you say Libertarians are insane?

Thursday, August 14, 2008

> but not the powerful capitalists who corrupt the government,
> buy politicians and abuse the law to prey on poorer folks.

These “capitalists” are creations of the gooferment that gives them life. In a
Libertarian society, there would be NO SUCH THING as a limited liability company created by the gooferment. Sam Walton, Ray Kroc, and all the others would still do business but gooferment wouldn’t insulate them from marketplace discipline.

>How do you not blame the rich predatory capitalists who engineer these
>eminent domain frauds.

It STARTS with the guns of gooferment. I can LUST over Herb’s stately Kalet’s manor, but it’s the gooferment that allows me to take it from him by force. Legally.

>It would be even worse under a libertarian government which is no government
> at all, no rules , no regulations.

Sorry but the fifth Amendment that we used to have before the Socialist Supreme Court gave us Kilo came from the DOWG’s liberty loving ideals.

>Just survival of the fittest, that’s the libertarian way.

NO! It’s just that NO ONE will be FORCED to do ANYTHING. That’s survival of
the fittest. Charity will bloom because people will get to keep their earnings instead of giving it to heartless bureaucrats to dole out. With a tremendous handling fee.
Americans have always been very charitable. But they insist on EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT charity. Not just hand outs; hand ups. Everyone will be stronger as a voluntary society.

>Rich athletic teams use tax money to build their stadiums and use eminent
> domain to confiscate land from unsuspecting home owners.

That is a function of YOUR system; not mine.

>As bad as it is now,

Finally we agree on something!

>it would be even worse under libertarian rule

It couldn’t possibly worse. Let’s try it. Visualize the prosperity of the 1880 to 1913 before the big gooferment really started to manipulate us. Visualize the peaceful society prior to Lincoln’s War of Northern Aggression. Visualize the effect of honest money on the whole size of gooferment, the ability to grow unrestrained by fiscal discipline, and it’s ability to fund welfare / warfare by theft from the hated central bank that Jefferson and Jackson warned about.

And, don’t get me started on Social Security!

Don’t blame the Libertarians for proposing something different. What you advocate CAN NOT work. Force never serves as a basis for a peaceful honest society.

Insanity is doing more of the same and expecting different results. More force aka more gooferment will NOT yIeld different results.

And, you say Libertarians are insane?

LIBERTY: National Service = National Socialism

FROM A NOTE I WROTE ON FACEBOOK

You Belong to Us
by Thomas E. Woods, Jr.

*** begin quote ***

As usual, Ron Paul gets to the heart of things: “Young people are not raw material to be employed by the political class on behalf of whatever fashionable political, military, or social cause catches its fancy. In a free society, their lives are not the playthings of government.”

No kind of conscription, whether on behalf of the welfare or the warfare sectors of the imperial capital, can be reconciled with freedom. Nor can it be reconciled with the Constitution. But those who govern us laugh with contempt at such arguments. And yet Americans persist in the delusion that they have a Constitution that limits their government. There is something deeply pathological about this. What else can be said?

*** end quote ***

Back in the Sixties, I was drafted. I made a big mistake then not to resist. My only excuse was I was a dumb kid. The youth here on Facebook are hearing a Presidential Candidate – O – say “National Service”. That’s SLAVERY in a pretty cover. I’d urge resistance. It’s bad enough that the tax and money systems make us percentage slaves. Try and figure out what percent you are. Good luck. My calculation runs between 50 and 100%.

The youth is going to get stuck with the bill from the period of 1860 to date. Us old farts ain’t going to be here when “the waiter brings the check”. I sure hope I’m wrong, but imho I don’t think so.

Ya’ll better vote with your pocketbook and obstruct the criminals in the gooferment. Remember Churchill’s line about when better to fight?

LIBERTY: Olympics spectacular … ly … fraudulent!

China opens its long-sought Olympics spectacularly
Aug 8, 8:03 PM (ET)
By DAVID CRARY

*** begin quote ***

BEIJING (AP) – China didn’t just walk onto the world stage. It soared over it. At last playing its long-sought role as Olympic host, China opened the Summer Games in spectacular fashion Friday with an extravaganza of fireworks and pageantry dramatizing its ascendance as a global power.

***End Quote***

Wonder how the folks in Tibet felt? Or them there Gong Falungs? The Christians? The Catholics? All the dissidents that were rounded up?

This was a celebration that fully ONE FIFTH of the world’s population are enslaved! No, the world gooferment’s had their spectacle! The circus is to keep the folks at home’s mind off the misery inflicted by one relatively small group in “power” on the “power-less”.

Of special note, the NBC commentator “let one cat out of the bag”. Or, would that be one very ugly pig without it’s lipstick! The athletes are paid when they win medals, including USA’s! “I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!” Captain Renault in Casablanca. I wasn’t shocked; Frau Reinke was. She thought everyone was an amateur. SO these folks are just “gladiators” in a Circus. Just like old Rome.

I have no interest in the Games. We shouldn’t be worshipping at the Secular Progressive Socialist alter of illusions.

Have no illusions.

  • Time will appear to standstill to foster the illusion that NBC is televising “live”.The commentator let that pig out too. Twelve hour time difference between China and say NYC. Along with the snide jab, that China only has one time zone. (Why do we have time zones anyway. If everyone used GMT, think of all the confusion that would be saved?) So basically, the Opening was taped in China a half a day before, kept from the boob tube, until NBC could show it in “prime time” making a lot of money. (No need for disclosure there.) And, the commercial breaks were put in to make it look like it was real time. Small fumbles getting back to the “action”. Allowing them to edit down to the “money makers” (i.e., countries the American audience will watch!). A real time broadcast would NOT allow them to extract big bucks from the advertisers and deceive the rubes!
  • The media will hype this person or the next as the next “star” — cute, smart, tragic — whatever will stick with you; NBC has a lot of billions spent by advertisers and they have to deliver eyeballs. (The other media will help, since it might be their turn next. Anyone know what ESPN aka ABC aka Disney ran against the Olympics? Little league Baseball. Little better than a blank screen!) You think the little kid marching with Yao was there for any other purpose than to get you “on board” with the program? Ever watch that farce about a stage managed war — Wag the Dog (1997) — where they Photoshoped in the girl and baby into the firefight? Same principle!
  • Medal counts will be blared at you as if they mean some national superiority. The NBC commentator let the less ugly pig out that China had focused on the 191 medals available in “sports” where more than one medal was awarded. To bolster it’s national pride. Hey, with 5T$ (United States Federal Reserve Notes — what a scam we pulled on them!), they can buy all the “national pride” they want.
  • They also tugged at our national game. Reporting breathlessly that baseball and softball would be out after this year. Sure, it’ll be out. There’s a competing entity Major League Baseball making money off that. Can’t showcase a competitor. And, who’d watch a televised Olympic baseball game. That’s why “women’s beach volleyball” is in; baseball is out. In baseball, there’s no possibility of a “wardrobe malfunction” like everyone is rooting for in “woman’s beach volleyball”. Suckers!
  • And, of course, the gooferment’s line of who’s good and who’s bad was also in evidence. NBC didn’t want to annoy the gooferment. Iraq got applause. Iran didn’t. Or did they? Maybe I’m suspicious, having been manipulated over and over, but does anyone remember that these folks have “laugh tracks”. What’s real and what’s not. We know they edited for time and content. What’s a little applause here and less there. Especially if it makes the Masters happy?

Call me a grump or a cynic, but I’ll be looking in other directions.

Now where are the “millionaires playing for billionaires” aka the Yankees on the tube? Oh, yeah, over on YES network, nothing is allowed to compete with NBC’s Olympics. Lucky it’s on at all. Surprised the FCC didn’t intervene.

You sheeple are so easy!

UPDATE

http://news.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/08/09/2231231&from=rss

Aparently, NBC altered reality by shuffling the order of countries entering the stadium! SO the USA would “enter” later during “prime time”?

Agh!

UPDATE

Apparently the fireworks were faked?

*** begin quote ***

A complete newb writes “London’s Telegraph newspaper reports that some of the fireworks which appeared over Beijing during the television broadcast of the Olympic Opening Ceremony were actually computer generated. But – hold on – it’s not necessarily as bad as you think. The faked fireworks were actually set-off at the stadium, but because of potential dangers in filming the display live from a helicopter, viewers at home were shown a pre-recorded, computer-generated shot.” To me, the reasoning behind the faked display is no consolation or excuse – it seems hard to swallow that NBC was unaware of this televised deception. I’m glad that it was good-naturedly “revealed” this weekend (according to that Telegraph article), but it’s disheartening that such a large crowd can watch (in person, and around the world) such a display and have no reason to realize they’ve been duped. What about when weightier events are at issue? There’s also a slightly more detailed story at sky.com.

***Begin Quote***

Browning’s concluding chapter tells us what the welfare state costs us. He acknowledges the non-economic costs such as infringements on liberty and strains on the political process, but focuses on the quantitative economic costs. The disincentive effects of Social Security have reduced the GDP by 10 percent, the federal income tax (as opposed to a proportional tax) by 9 percent and past deficits by 3.5 percent for a total of 22.5 percent. He guesses that welfare programs have reduced GDP by 2.5 percent. The overall effect of redistributionist policies has created incentives that have reduced GDP by a total of 25 percent. Without those, our GDP would be close to $18 trillion instead of $14 trillion.

Welfare costs us in more ways than just money. It gives the politicians and bureaucrats control over people. And, like the young elephant, we think we need them!

Federal agents may take a traveler’s laptop or other electronic device to an off-site location for an unspecified period of time without any suspicion of wrongdoing, as part of border search policies the Department of Homeland Security recently disclosed.

Also, officials may share copies of the laptop’s contents with other agencies and private entities for language translation, data decryption or other reasons, according to the policies, dated July 16 and issued by two DHS agencies, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In April, the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco upheld the government’s power to conduct searches of an international traveler’s laptop without suspicion of wrongdoing. The Customs policy can be viewed at: http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/travel/admissability/

LIBERTY: the voice of the people?

confusing sentiment

confusing sentiment

While I don’t think drilling on Route 1 will yield much oil, I understand the author’s frustration with the political gang in charge. Any drilling will put the fear into OPEC that we are serious about our National Energey policy. Heck those politician might even get out of the way of folks who want nuclear power.

As far as “support our troops”, if they were mine, they’d be home now.

“Win the war; live in peace” is also confused. What war? Did Congress declare “war” and I didn’t hear about it?

Maybe the person meant all the other “wars” — War on (Some) Drugs, War on Poverty, War on Terror, War on Cigarettes, War on Honest Money, War on Education, War on War, … … think it’s an over used word?

Why don’t the Swiss have such problems? They MYOB!

In 1980, the voters elected Regan for smaller government; bigger government, higher taxes, lower tax rates. In 1988, they elected “No New Taxes” GHW Bush; higher taxes and spending. In 1992, they elected Clinton who promised a middle class tax cut; higher taxes and more spending. In 2000, they elected GW Bush for “compasionate conservatism” and a “humble foreign policy”; we got more government spending than Clinton, war around the globe, and facism here at home. (Been to an airport lately? It like a moive depicting the Nazis!) In 2006, the nation threw out the R’s to get peace; More war! In pre-Presidential primary polling, 70% of the nation wanted an end to the various “wars”; what do both political parties nominate — pro-war candidates.

So, I understand the author’s frustration.

We have to “Gandhi” the political gang in charge. Just laugh at them and call them out for what they are — tyrants, ruling at the barrel of a gun. Don’t think so? Try not paying their tribute or kowtowing to them. You’ll see who is the slave and who is the master really quick.

Hint: It ain’t you!

To End War, Prepare For Peace

On the other side of the economic, geopolitical, and military mess we find ourselves in right now (provided, of course, that we survive it), certain things that we have done routinely as a civilization—or that have been done to all of us—must be changed, radically and permanently.

The first is to establish widespread recognition that, in addition to being immoral because it happens to be theft, taxation is the fuel of war. If you remember nothing else from this essay, try to remember that.

Taxation is the fuel of war.

***End Quote***

And the author puts the question to us at the end of the article:

What are you prepared to do about it?

That’s the rubber meets the road question.

How will we oppose the gang with guns who aren’t afraid to use violence? Gandhi gave us the tool non-violent non-cooperation. When 70% wanted us out of the various “wars”, they elected the D’s. And, what did they get, more war.

So the gang puts the TSA at the airports, I try NOT to fly. Since they did it, I’ve only taken two flights — Iowa for fun and Denver for work. Period end of story. Non-violent non-cooperation.

Maybe there will be some more demonstrations.

I am tired. Tired of always having to choose the lesser of two evils. Tired of never “winning”. Tired of always seeing gooferment grow. Regardless of how or if I vote. So, I think I am just tired of voting. I don’t think that it makes a difference.

I tried the Ron Paul re-evol-ution but that didn’t work.

Now we have two choices — bad and worse. And you want me to pick the lesser of two evils?

Or, do we have to keep needling the blissfully unaware into thinking.

Or, do we just minimize our participation in their processes and questioning their legitimacy.

And, challenge every dime they spend?

Or free state project to new hampshire?

No, I think the reason that half the people don’t vote is thatthey are smarter than I am. They KNOW it’s a waste of time and just legitimizes the “blue light gang” to oppress us more!

— Massachusetts Secretary of State Certifies END the Income Tax
Initiative for Ballot with 16,135 Signatures – Enough to Scare Off
Challenge by Teachers Union
— Help Reach and Persuade 1,600,000 Voters to Vote “Yes” to END the
state Income Tax

===========================================================
MASSACHUSETTS SECRETARY OF STATE CERTIFIES END THE INCOME TAX
INITIATIVE FOR BALLOT WITH 16,135 SIGNATURES –
ENOUGH TO SCARE OFF CHALLENGE BY TEACHERS UNION
===========================================================

Last December, just hours after we filed 76,085 validated and
certified signatures for our END the Income Tax Ballot Initiative with
the Secretary of State, the Massachusetts Teachers Union sent a swarm
of representatives to electronically scan these 76,085 into their
computer database.

They quietly set up and ran a Stealth, Boiler Room Telemarketing
Operation that telephoned signers – and asked whether their signatures
might have gotten on the petition through “fraud” or “forgery.” (Their
words.)

The Teachers Union failed to disqualify our Initiative. We moved
forward. (For more details, see the 12-19-08 and 1-03-08 issues of
“Small Government News.”)

This time, we turned in a Kevlar strength, bulletproof, challenge-
proof number: 16,135 Certified Petition Signatures – 5,036 more than
required by law.

On Thursday, July 3rd, the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth
officially certified our END the Income Tax Initiative for the
November 4th Ballot.

Although the Teachers Union Headquarters is across the street from the
Massachusetts Elections Division – which has our petitions – the
Teachers Union hasn’t even walked over to check our petitions. They
have until this Wednesday, July 9th to file a challenge. With our
signature margin, the walk looks too daunting.

Massachusetts law requires initiative petitioners for a statewide
ballot to collect signatures both in the fall preceding the election
year and in the spring of election year. They must turn petitions in
to each of 351 cities and towns to certify voter signatures.
Petitioners must then collect the certified signatures from each town
and turn them in to the Elections Division. No more than 25% of
certified voters may reside in any one of the 14 counties in
Massachusetts.

In the fall of 2007, the Elections Division approved 76,085 certified
signatures turned in by the Committee For Small Government – 9,492
more than required by law.

Over 123,000 voters in Massachusetts signed the petition – either in
the fall of 2007 or spring of 2008 – to End the Income Tax.

In a statement to the News Media, Carla Howell said:

“Governor Deval Patrick, the state legislature, and the Massachusetts
Teachers Union no longer control the decision of whether to END the
Income Tax. The voters will decide this November 4th.”

“Our END the Income Tax Ballot Initiative is the first major tax cut
for working class and middle class Massachusetts taxpayers in 28
years. Since Proposition 2 ½.”

Two Polls of likely voters – one in January, another in May – show
that 45% of Massachusetts voters already support this ballot
initiative.

A November 4th “yes” vote to End the State Income Tax will give back
$3,600 each (average) to 3,000,000 Massachusetts workers and
taxpayers. A $3,600 tax refund every year.

A “yes” vote to End the State Income Tax will stop the job exodus from
Massachusetts. It will create hundreds of thousands of new jobs in
Massachusetts in the next 2 years. New jobs for our unemployed and
underemployed workers. New opportunities, new jobs for our high school
and college graduates.

“In the face of $4.50 a gallon gasoline, skyrocketing heating oil
costs, exploding home foreclosures, and 28 straight years of property
tax increases on Massachusetts homes – ENDing the Income Tax will give
desperately needed financial relief to Massachusetts families,” said
Carla Howell, Chair of the Committee For Small Government.

===================================================
HELP REACH AND PERSUADE 1,600,000 VOTERS TO VOTE “YES”
TO END THE STATE INCOME TAX
===================================================

We’ll probably need at least 1,600,000 “yes” votes this November 4th
to win.

To legally END the state Income Tax.

What’s the best, most cost effective way to win the hearts and minds
and votes of 1,600,000 voters – starting now?

10,000 Yard Signs and Bumper Stickers. In front of supporters homes.
On their cars.

While our opponents may spend millions of advertising dollars urging
and scaring people to vote “no”, paying more than $10 for each “no”
vote — you and we can lock in the FIRST 1,000,000 “Yes” votes for
just 4.4 cents a vote.

Are we serious? Is this really possible?

Yes.

Unfamiliarity is the biggest barrier to new ideas and proposals. Most
people initially reject the unfamiliar.

Immediate rejection. Without examination or consideration. Without
investigation or deliberation.

Reflexive rejection as immediate as pulling your fingers off a hot
stove.

That’s how most people first react to unfamiliar ideas. To the
foreign, the strange, the different.

That’s the first and biggest obstacle we’re up against with our Ballot
Initiative to END the Income Tax. Often, it’s the ONLY obstacle to
accepting and embracing a new and different idea.

Are there ways of getting around this barrier? Are there solutions to
reflexive rejection?

Yes! And one way is simple and easy to use.

It’s called: The Exposure Effect.

The more often that people are exposed to something, the more
comfortable and positive they feel toward it. The less often that
they’re exposed to it, the more uncomfortable and negative they feel
toward it.

The first time a person hears or reads something outside his comfort
zone, outside his familiarity zone, he immediately, reflexively
rejects it. The second time, he quickly rejects it. The third, he
rejects it. The forth, he treats it skeptically. The fifth, he may see
some interesting or valuable points. The sixth, a little more. And so
on, until he’s comfortable examining it — because it’s become
familiar.

Why do Yard Signs and Bumper Stickers Create an Exposure Effect?

Yard Signs Facts: 107 neighbors will drive by and notice the yard sign
an average of 22 times in the last 11 weeks of the campaign. Another
100 to 200 visitors and non-neighbors will see the sign an average of
twice. (Michael Cloud did field research in 2000 and 2002 to get these
numbers.)

10,000 yard signs X 107 neighbors = 1,070,000 voters familiar and
comfortable with open-mindedly considering ENDing the Income Tax. And
remember that UN-familiarity is the ONLY reason that over 1,000,000
Massachusetts voters are not yet ready to vote “Yes.”

Plus the 100 to 200 visitors also exposed to each END the Income Tax
Message on the yard sign. Another 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 people
exposed by the first 10,000 signs.

Bumper Sticker Facts: Less than 2% of Massachusetts cars have bumper
stickers. Only 50% of bumper stickers are political. (Michael Cloud
did this hands-on empirical research in 2000 and 2002.)

There are roughly 3,000,000 cars and trucks in Massachusetts.

2% bumper stickers on 3,000,000 cars and trucks = 60,000 cars with
bumper stickers. 50% of the 60,000 are political.

That’s 30,000 cars and trucks in Massachusetts with political bumper
stickers.

10,000 of our cars and trucks with END the Income Tax Bumper stickers
added to today’s 30,000 means that 25% of ALL political bumper
stickers will be ours.

Each bumper sticker grabs the attention of slightly over 100 drivers a
week. With bumper stickers on our supporters cars for the last 10
weeks of the campaign – that’s 1,000 Massachusetts drivers exposed to
each bumper sticker. That’s 3 exposures EACH to the 3,000,000 drivers
of these cars.

Add the millions of drivers exposed to END the Income Tax bumper
stickers to the 1,000,000 drivers repeatedly exposed to END the Income
Tax yard signs by their neighbors – and we can win over the first
1,000,000 votes with just these campaign materials.

But that’s not all.

These first 1,000,000 “Yes” voters AND the additional 2,000,000
exposed to our message will now be dramatically more receptive and
responsive to our advertising. They will be more open-minded and
willing to embrace our evidence and arguments when they read them on
the internet or in the newspapers, hear them on the radio, or watch
them on TV and YouTube.

Those multiple exposures create a persuasive “Social Proof Effect” –
as documented by Social Scientist Dr. Robert Cialdini.

They create and reinforce a persuasive “Commitment/Consistency Effect”
– empirically verified by social psychologists.

These Multiple source exposures amplify and reinforce each other.

Our first 1,000,000 “Yes” votes locked in for only 4.4 cents a vote –
and the simple and easy support of supporters.

We’ve priced and shopped the quality and cost of Yard Signs and bumper
stickers.

We can buy 10,000 2-color, 2-sided high visibility, weather proof Yard
Signs and frames – production and shipping – for only $36,000.

We can buy and distribute 10,000 2-color, bright, weatherproof END the
Income Tax Bumper stickers – for only $8,100. (The biggest cost is for
mailing them to supporters.)

$44,100 cost for winning over the first 1,000,000 “Yes” voters.

We need to put these 10,000 yard signs up as soon as we can. And get
the 10,000 bumper stickers in the hands of our supporters.

We only need 2 things: first, our official ballot question number from
the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth. (They should give it
to us within 14 days.)

Second, we need $44,100 to pay for the signs and bumper stickers. We
must pre-pay for them. Why? Screeners and printers have been burned by
political campaigns. Not any more. They require us to pay in advance.

We get our Yard Signs 21 days AFTER we pay for them. So we need to pay
for them NOW to get them by early August. Further, signs are printed
“first come, first served,” so if it takes us 2 weeks to raise the
money – we’ll have to wait in line behind whoever got there first.
This could delay us to late August – or even September.

Delay in ordering our Yard Signs will cost us hundreds of thousands of
voter exposures – and perhaps hundreds of thousands of votes.

We need to raise $44,100 this week to get the Yard Signs on time.

If you have the financial ability to contribute $10,000 or $5,000 or
$2,500 today, and the burning desire to help make history, will you
please donate now?

Perhaps you’ve been “holding your fire” – until you could really make
an impact. If you can donate $1,500 or $850 or $550 today, will you
please do it now?

Or can you contribute $250 or $150 right now – so we can begin?

Even $5 from you will help. Will you please give your best donation
now?

LIBERTY: gooferment, the meme that kills people

***Begin Quote***

The greatest threat to mankind’s prosperity is government. A recent example is Zimbabwe’s increasing misery. Like our country, Zimbabwe had a flourishing agriculture sector, so much so it was called the breadbasket of southern Africa. Today, its people are on the brink of starvation as a result of its government. It’s the same story in many countries — government interference with mankind’s natural tendency to engage in wealth-producing activities. Blaming poverty on overpopulation not only lets governments off the hook; it encourages the enactment of harmful policies.

Yup, gooferment, the meme that kills more people than any disease.

GUNS: “… when they pry it from my cold dead hand!”

Thoughts on guns

***Begin Quote***

“Because firearms are often used in crime, it is incumbent on gun manufacturers to constantly evaluate the risks to public health and safety of the products they design,” the organization says. “The industry must stop supplying the market with guns which are attractive to criminals and which have no legitimate civilian use.”

*** end quote ***

MY RESPONSE:

Excuse me. “… which have no legitimate civilian use.”

The Dead Old White Guys wanted you to have a gun so that you could exercise the ultimate restraint on the Government thugs.

Sorry to be crass, blunt, or just down right hard. But, liberals, such as yourself, seem to forget history. You need that “V8 thunk”.

A Jew being marched to the gas chamber. Cambodia’s killing fields. Stalin’s purges of the farmers. Mao leaping forward of the bodies of those who got in the way. Rawanda, Somalia, … and on and on!

When the populace is disarmed; genocide follows.

So imagine 1930’s Germany, with the first armed Jew in his apartment being extracted by a Nazi storm trooper, he gets only the first one coming in the door. He and his family are killed, but they were dead anyway. BUT, who’s going to be the first storm trooper through the next door. If every Jewish family had a gun and used it, the Nazi’s would have rapidly run out of storm troopers.

That’s what the Dead Old White Guys were trying to give posterity. The ultimate check on government!

“legitimate civilian use” is anything you can use to kill that government thug coming to take you to the death camps.

Don’t say it can’t happen here. It has. Look at the miniaturization of police, the Waco disaster, Ruby Ridge, the Japanese Internment, and on and on.

I really hope you never have the experience of being on the wrong side of this example. I may be, but “… when they pry it from my cold dead hand!”

LIBERTY: Either way, I don’t give a DAMN what you think your rights are.

Airport Tyranny
By Walter E. Williams

***Begin Quote***

The TSA routinely confiscates about 15,000 items a day from passengers, in addition to the hassle, rudeness and arrogance. With these kind of costs imposed on the traveling public, I’d like TSA to give an account of themselves, namely just how many hijackings or bombings they have prevented, along with the evidence. Americans have been far too compliant and that has given the TSA carte blanche to treat travelers any way they wish. I’m staying away. TSA has its rules and Williams has his, and one of mine is to avoid tyrants and idiots.

***End Quote***

My recent trip to Iowa by air gave me a close look at the TSA. And, a compliant public.

Were the Jews this compliant when they were loaded on the freight cars?

Where is the outrage?

Some incidents that my wife mentioned to me as absurd. (So you know it wasn’t just my tin foil hat being on tilt)

(1) Three little children carry almost empty drink bottles being admonished in a very hostile way to “THROW THOSE AWAY!”. The first thing Frau Reinke objected to was the tone. These were little kids who wouldn’t know a TSA rule from and AST elur! The next was the absurdity. And, finally, she thought the TSA agent should be addressing MOM; not the children.

(2) She spotted a stewardess waltz through the checkpoint with a bottle of water.

(3) The OLD old man being gone over with a fine tooth comb.

(4) Another man had a beep in his thigh. The ever alert TSA agent finally just gave up. After sticking his hand in the man’s pocket and feeling his clothes. The agent should have at least bought the fellow dinner.

(5) All the people running around in TSA garb. And the “grab assing” (Her words. I swear. And she usually doesn’t use language like that.)

Her final and best observation: “What terrorist is going to come to Omaha to takeover a plane. They would stand out like a sore thumb.”

To all her comments, I merely replied “Your tax dollars at work.” Which made her mad at me. But as a little L libertarian, I’m tired of people poke sticks in my cage. Time to pick up a gun yet? When you grab yours, I’ll be right behind you with mine. Till then, I don’t give a damn.

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know — that Santiago’s death, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.

You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall — you need me on that wall.

We use words like “honor,” “code,” “loyalty.” We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it.

I would rather that you just said “thank you” and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand the post. Either way, I don’t give a DAMN what you think you’re entitled to!

*** end quote ***

I have nether the time nor the inclination to explain ‘rights’ to anyone. I would rather you spoke up to the powers that be. I suggest that you pick up a weapon and defend your rights. Either way, neither I, nor anyone else, cares what you think they are if you are not going to stand up for yourself. I know I am an oppressed slave. What’s your excuse?

LIBERTY: Gooferment should have no role in defining marriage

It gets people fighting among themselves as opposed to fighting the politician trying to rn everyones lives.

GUNS: ban the purchase, transfer, or inheritance of many popular hunting guns

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

FROM AN NRA ALERT

***Begin Quote***

New Jersey Assembly Committee to Consider Gun Ban Bill!
Bill is an Attack on Sportsmen, Collectors, and Target Shooters!

On Thursday morning, June 12, the New Jersey Assembly Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider legislation that would ban the purchase, transfer, or inheritance of many popular hunting guns, historical American firearms, and large bore target firearms, based on alleged public safety concerns. The bill would ban any rifle with a bore diameter larger than .50 caliber, including many modern and antique hunting and target firearms.

Touted as a ban on .50 caliber and larger firearms, A2116 assaults New Jersey sportsmen by banning dozens of models of popular hunting guns, including traditional .50 caliber muzzle loaders with synthetic stocks, fiber optic sights, or scopes in lieu of sights. Such guns with sights not actually made of iron are also in question due to A2116’s unclear wording.

A2116, sponsored by Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-15), also bans hundreds of historical American firearms and replicas, including those from the Revolutionary War and Civil War eras. A2116 is a slap in the face to collectors, historians, and the patriots who used these firearms to win the very freedoms this legislation now seeks to take away.

A2116 also wrongly demonizes the .50 BMG rifle, which is not used in criminal activity, but which is regularly used by law-abiding citizens for precision target shooting, competition, and collection. The legislation makes the fundamental mistake of banning guns based on the size of the barrel rather than punishing criminal behavior.

Please contact the members of the Assembly Judiciary Committee IMMEDIATELY by email, phone, and/or fax and respectfully urge them to OPPOSE A2116!

Dear Assembly Folks:

I really don’t understand. In my email today, I find:

>New Jersey Assembly Committee to Consider Gun Ban Bill!

>On Thursday morning, June 12, the New Jersey Assembly Judiciary Committee is scheduled to consider legislation

I urge you to OPPOSE A2116!

Last I heard even the most livid anti-gun nut makes no assertion that criminals use these weapons. I’d also call your attention to the Second Amendment. I know you all think that is “just an anachronistic piece of paper’. But, if someone applied it to printing presses, then everyone would understand. The Second is the insurance policy for the First. Every time governments disarm their citizens, genocide follows.

Please don’t count on my vote in November if you advance this bill.

LIBERTY: Take a moment on the Memorial Day Monday

Monday, May 26, 2008

I hope we all take a moment on the Memorial Day Monday.

Not because some politician tells us we should at 3pm for their agenda. But, because we allowed undeclared wars to happen in our name and good people acted on what we said we needed.

I plan to take that moment to:

* Pray for all the boys and girls who gave their lives for what they believed in.

* Recognize the ongoing sacrifices being made.

* Value the ‘breakage’ in the wounded; insist that ‘we’ do right by them.

* Grieve with all the families that are picking up afterwards.

* And, finally, hope that we all begin to hold the politicians accountable for their words and actions that put ‘our people’ in harm’s way in our name.

You know if I could I’d bring them all home on Tuesday – Wednesday latest.

I will pray they all come home in one piece.

And that ‘we’ get back to a Department of Defense and return to the Constitutional America of Liberty. We seem to have lost our way.

What will you do – or what did you do – on Monday? Picnic and party? Listen to more political rhetoric? Forget it all and vacation? Tube out?

Sadly,
An tired old fool

LIBERTY: why the state should withhold the institution of marriage because of a couple’s sexual orientation

Gay marriage opponents vow to fight Calif. ruling
May 16 11:21 AM US/Eastern
By LISA LEFF Associated Press Writer

***Begin Quote***

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Even as same-sex couples across California begin making plans to tie the knot, opponents are redoubling their efforts to make sure wedding bells never ring for gay couples in the nation’s most populous state.

*** and ***

With a stroke of a pen Thursday, the Republican-dominated court swept away decades of tradition and said there was no legally justifiable reason why the state should withhold the institution of marriage because of a couple’s sexual orientation.

The 4-3 opinion written by Chief Justice Ronald George said domestic partnerships that provide many of the rights and benefits of matrimony are not enough.

“In contrast to earlier times, our state now recognizes that an individual’s capacity to establish a loving and long-term committed relationship with another person and responsibly to care for and raise children does not depend upon the individual’s sexual orientation,” George wrote for the majority in ringing language that delighted gay rights activists.

Gay marriage opponents, meanwhile, derided the ruling as an example of judicial overreaching in which the opinions of a few justices trumped the will of Californians.

The last time the state’s voters were asked to express their views on same-sex marriage at the ballot box was in 2000, the year after the Legislature enacted the first of a series of laws awarding spousal rights to domestic partners.

Proposition 22, which strengthened the state’s 1978 one-man, one-woman marriage law with the words “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California,” passed with 61 percent of the vote.

The Supreme Court’s ruling Thursday struck down both statutes.

***End Quote***

With all due respect to all the passions involved, the State has NO BUSINESS in the regulating of marriage!
