Leftism and the Minions of Satan
By Nancy Van Deest

*** begin quote ***

With Holy Week upon us, it is time for Christians to stop relinquishing our beliefs out of fear from retribution and vitriol. Instead, put on the full armor of God to stand firm against the deteriorating culture, understanding that the more we voice God’s truths to counter their lies, the greater their inner demons will scream, expecting to stop God. But do not yield. Instead, offer God’s message of salvation, hoping it will plant a seed and move them toward God and away from Satan. However, prudently realize that at some point, God gives Satan’s unrepentant followers over to their depraved minds.

Given Satan’s growing influence on American leaders and the dangers they pose, Christians should be encouraged by David, who picked up a stone to defeat Goliath. His faith in God against overwhelming odds gives proof that God goes before us as our champion. While God may not spare us from the effects of the storm, with God in the lead, we can stand confidently upon His truths and hold firm to our God-given rights against a godless government. At the same time, we should warn those seeking unholy power, “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”

*** end quote ***

It’s a sad end that the American Experiment seems to be ending with a quick sinking into bankruptcy, perversion, and crime.

I’ve ofter railed about how the “King” wants to destroy the “Church” as an alternative authority.  Pedophilia in the Catholic Church was allowed to continue and thus erode any claim to “moral authority”.

So too, the Gooferment was allowed to undermine thrift, self-reliance, and a sense of community with welfare paid for by future generations.  Get everyone on some sort of dole to enhance the “King” (i.e., politicians and bureaucrats).

Decadence used to be shamed and hidden mostly in Hollywood has now become front page “news”.

As the few good people man the battlements, let’s go down if we must.  But go down fighting to the last soul speaking the truth to the Powerful and their befuddled troops.

When it comes time to pick up the pieces, those recording history will say “this was their finest hour”.

Just say no to everything that goes against the Spirit.

The sign of a ‘good’ scam is that someone manages to weasel away your hard-earned cash from your wallet and you’re left devastated. The sign of a great scam, however, is when the victim doesn’t even realize they’ve been swindled. Instead, they sit there with huge smiles on their faces, marveling at what a great deal they just got. All the while, someone’s laughing behind their backs.

Meanwhile, some things have become so ingrained into society that some folks don’t even stop to think whether their money would better be spent elsewhere. Redditor u/efd71f03 sparked an interesting thread after asking the internet about what people “refuse to view” as scams because they’ve been a part of the culture for so long. Buying life insurance when you’re not married and don’t have dependents. Stupidest decision you can make as a 20 year old early on life. What a waste of money and payments going down the drain year old early on life. What a waste of money and payments going down the drain

*** end quote ***

Not so sure I agree with that:  (1) a healthy 20 year old is insurable; an unhealthy 21 year old can be uninsurable; (2) There is a concept about buying while life insurance and using it like your personal bank; if I did it when I was younger, it would have made sense. (3) health and life insurance are transferring risk for catastrophic expenses; risks can be taken if done intelligently.

Not on the list but my personal favorite Ponzi scam is “social security”.

“Social Security Insurance”, (note the word insurance — even though it bears no resemblance to real world insurance), is a de jure Ponzi scheme paying current takers from current workers. What could go wrong with that (i.e., scope creep; aging population; longevity discoveries; political corruption; moral hazard). And, de facto, a wealth transfer from poor minority men to rich white women. All set up, by the D’s to create another permanent class of dependent voters (i.e., the third rail of politics). Also, it’s a “political axiom” that one someone gets a “benefit” it can never be taken away. Argh! What a load of “barbara streisand” aka <synonym for excrement>! Argh! Argh!

I met a German fellow who worked at a bar during the summer season in Austrália. I’ve said it before, Austrália has what I think is the best model regarding immigration. They have a 6 month work visa specific to industries that have work shortages or Australians simply don’t want to do. Like agro, hospitality, construction. The visa process is simple, can apply online and print it at home or even acquire at port of entry. You receive a temp tax ID number as well for your employer. It resolves illegal workers and ensures the State collects its taxes. If your one of those that constantly complains that “I’m for immigration as long as its legal” well here is your answer.

This cool new Tineco Toasty One Smart Toaster is a futuristic smart toaster with a touchscreen that allows you to customize the toasting process of two different slices of bread at the same time for personalized perfection. It features a large four inch touchscreen on the side for choosing shade, crispiness, and toasting modes (smart, fresh, reheat, and frozen) for each slot in the toaster, automatically lowers and raises the bread, has an IntelliHeat algorithm that detects the state of the toast and automatically adjusts heating performance, displays a fun visual progress indicator, alerts you when it’s time to empty the crumb tray (when’s the last time you remembered to do that?), has 8 custom preference save options, and has sturdy stainless steel constructed wrapped in an elegant ivory-white porcelain finish that just looks super cool on the countertop. Best of all, after engaging with all of this modern, state-of-the-art toasting technology, in the end you get toast that is golden and crispy on the outside, light and airy on the inside, and toasted just the way you like it, every single time.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Lady fails to follow the SOP and three men are exonerated long after her death

Saved from the grave
Mary Jane Burton’s unusual habit of saving samples of the evidence she tested led to the exoneration of three men, years after her death in 1999.

The forensic scientist cut off the tip of a cotton swab and taped it to a lab sheet next to a snippet of stained clothing.

Always save a piece of what you test, Mary Jane Burton instructed her watchful trainee.

But why? This was 1977, years before the invention of DNA testing. Yet day after day, she repeated this seemingly pointless procedure under the glow of the cramped laboratory’s fluorescent lights — taping swabs smeared with blood, semen and saliva and inserting them into their case files.

The forensic scientist cut off the tip of a cotton swab and taped it to a lab sheet next to a snippet of stained clothing.

*** and ***

Standard procedure in Virginia was for biological evidence to be returned to the authorities after testing. After a few years, it would be destroyed, except in death penalty cases.

Why Mary Jane Burton insisted on saving such samples is as big a mystery as Burton herself.

Some speculate that Burton had a premonition that science would improve, that the samples she saved would one day prove useful. Her trainee, Deanne Dabbs, recalls a simpler explanation: Burton just liked to have something physical to show to a jury when she testified. Juries like to see what you’ve worked on, Burton told Dabbs in 1977.

*** end quote ***

Why would you EVER destroy evidence?

This SOP guaranteed that justice would be impossible.

So sad, for others.

The story of the Chinese government crackdown on Falun Gong is a classic example of totalitarian intolerance of competing ideas, and it involves both propaganda and physical terror. I did not like what happened on Wednesday and reiterated that view as stocks were popping yesterday morning. Today, a relatively calm overnight session got spooked as European bank CDS (particularly contracts linked to sub debt) spiked. That continued into the U.S. session until headlines that Treasury Secretary Yellen had convened a FSOC meeting. Maybe something comes out of that meeting, but here are issues that I think resurface once that meeting is done, unless something surprisingly aggressive is done (I don’t expect that).

The “Unrealized” Mark to Market Losses

I remain dumbfounded by some of the duration risk that was obviously taken at, at least, one bank. The sense that I get, from talking to people is more time is being spent on what other issues could be out there?

*** end quote ***

One of the Managing Directors, that I respected from my days on Wall Street, was a real hard ass as a risk manager. I remember hearing many profound and LOUD screaming matches with traders and portfolio managers about “mark to market”.  As an IT guy I had heard the term, but didn’t grok (gestalt) it, until I heard some of his rants. (It was hard NOT to hear them screaming.)

His rule was, if someone said something was worth X and he didn’t think so  — especially if it was illiquid or had no active market, then he’d offer to put it in their personal portfolio at that value.  Otherwise, it was “marked to market” at ZERO.  (I really had to laugh when the eventually ended with “why would I want that junk in my personal portfolio?” Followed by the final nail in the coffin: “Why would the Firm want it in theirs at that price?”  I think those disagreements could have had tickets to watch that rival WWE matches.)

So, everyone should “market to market” all their assets as if you were a risk manager.  And, don’t think that your job is a risk-free asset.

In an editorial led by Air Force colonel Dr David Klein, officials said minors ‘have an inherent ability and right to consent’ to the interventions that are often irreversible.

GOVERNACIDE: The four-decade-old congressionally enacted Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network is failing its mission

*** begin quote ***

Good morning. It’s Thursday, March 23, and we’re covering an expected social media grilling on Capitol Hill, a life-saving overhaul to an outdated system, and much more.

*** and ***

Organ Transplant Overhaul

The US Health department announced plans yesterday to modernize the country’s four-decade-old congressionally enacted Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network. The system is solely responsible for tens of thousands of life-saving organ transplants in the US every year, where over 100,000 people are currently on its waitlist.

The private nonprofit United Network of Organ Services has managed the network since 1986. UNOS has come under fire for its elevated kidney discard rate of roughly 20%, while a 2021 audit by the US Digital Service called for a broad restructuring of the network’s information technology stack, reporting it had crashed for 17 days since 1999. Due to UNOS’ effective monopoly over US organ services, critics argue there’s insufficient accountability for poor performance.

The multiyear modernization effort aims to update technology, increase competition by soliciting bids, double federal funding, and update the nearly 40-year-old law, specifically to abolish appropriations caps. A new data dashboard shows recent trends in procurement here.

*** end quote ***

Here’s a novel idea: get the Gooferment out of the organ transplant business.  Entirely.

For example, do you think that hospitals that do transplants would not figure out a better system.  And, BTW, why can’t we pay organ donors for their donation or their heirs?  Seems silly to bury good spare parts because we can NOT figure out how to do it ethically and efficiently.

Of course, if you’re rich or well connected, then there’s no problem getting what you need.

Argh!

The mother of the Nashville school shooter who killed six people — including three 9-year-olds — appeared to be a gun control activist who once urged friends on Facebook to sign a petition calling for keeping firearms out of schools.

“So important!” Norma Hale wrote in a March 8, 2018, Facebook post as she shared the petition to “Keep Guns Out of School” that appeared to be from the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation.

The webpage’s domain to the petition did not appear to exist anymore.

In another post from Feb. 21, 2018, Hale shared another petition from Sandy Hook Promise urging lawmakers to “Make Large-Capacity Gun Magazines Illegal.”

Hale’s adult child, Audrey Hale, carried out Monday’s horrific mass shooting at the Covenant School on Monday morning.

*** end quote ***

Like the war on drugs, Gooferment seems to deliberately fail at its mission.

Schools should be “hard targets” like a bank.  You don’t hear about “mass shootings” at banks or pawnshops. Hell, my local jewelry store had better security than that school apparently had.  The shooter blew out the glass front doors. Most datacenter are secure by “man trap” entrances.  You don’t just waltz in unchallenged.  Schools in New Jersey require visitors to be admitted; hell, parents don’t even get in without a “pass”.

I feel sad for the parents of all involved.  It’s a cold cruel world out there populated by crazy people and evil doers.  We need to end gun-free zones and reengineer our society to protect itself.

I note that the shooter skipped another target because it “had too much security”.  So while these shooters are evil, they are not stupid.

Taiwan has fallen to China. The war lasted years, cost tens of thousands of lives, and ruined the economy – but that was a cost Xi Jinping was willing to pay to write his name into history.

America fought back, but despite having the superior military there was simply too much political division at home and amongst its allies to put up a proper defence.

Beijing’s iron will won the day, and the world has taken note. Autocracy has triumphed over democracy. The war of ideals has been lost.

It is Xi’s world now. We just live in it.

That is the apocalyptic vision put forward by expert Charles Dunst in his new book Defeating the Dictators as he warns that democracy is now in a fight with autocracy for control of the future, and is in danger of losing unless it rapidly gets its act together.

The incendiary issue of transgender participation in sports returned to the fore this week after a high school girls’ team won a state championship with help from a biological male. Olympic medalists were among critics who joined the backlash to Chloe Barnes’ role in Brookline High School’s victory in Massachusetts . Barnes is a junior who competed under rules that allow students to ‘participate in a manner consistent with their gender identity’. This is just the latest flashpoint in the debate that was thrust into the mainstream when trans swimmer Lia Thomas became an NCAA champion in March 2022. Supporters of inclusion claim fairness can be maintained when biological males compete against women, while opponents that argue women’s sports must be protected face accusations of transphobia. But cut through the often toxic political mudslinging that dominates the debate and, according to researchers and elite athletes, the science speaks for itself: trans women have a physical advantage over biological females – and no treatment exists which can unravel that.

World’s first octopus farm proposals alarm scientists

A plan to build the world’s first octopus farm has raised deep concerns among scientists over the welfare of the famously intelligent creatures.

The farm in Spain’s Canary Islands would raise about a million octopuses annually for food, according to confidential documents seen by the BBC.

They have never been intensively farmed and some scientists call the proposed icy water slaughtering method “cruel.”

Prof. Peter Tse, a cognitive neuroscientist at Dartmouth University, told the BBC that “to kill them with ice would be a slow death … it would be very cruel and should not be allowed.”

Adding that they were “as intelligent as cats” he suggested that a more humane way would be to kill them as many fishermen do, by clubbing them over the head.

Having seen how intelligent these animals are and how unique they are making them “food” is hard to justify.  Torturing them is just unacceptable.

Sigh!

Low-cost device can measure air pollution anywhere

  • Open-source tool from MIT’s Senseable City Lab lets people check air quality, cheaply.

Air pollution is a major public health problem: The World Health Organization has estimated that it leads to over 4 million premature deaths worldwide annually. Still, it is not always extensively measured. But now an MIT research team is rolling out an open-source version of a low-cost, mobile pollution detector that could enable people to track air quality more widely.

The detector, called Flatburn, can be made by 3D printing or by ordering inexpensive parts. The researchers have now tested and calibrated it in relation to existing state-of-the-art machines, and are publicly releasing all the information about it — how to build it, use it, and interpret the data.

“We” should have an award for people who make a discovery and make it free to use because of its great benefit.

It should be named for Frederick Banting (note below) for insulin or Volvo for the three point seat belt.

Maybe Volvo would sponsor it.

I’d nominate these folks from MIT for this invention and releasing it to the public domain.

Note: When inventor Frederick Banting discovered insulin in 1923, he refused to put his name on the patent. He felt it was unethical for a doctor to profit from a discovery that would save lives. Banting’s co-inventors, James Collip and Charles Best, sold the insulin patent to the University of Toronto for a mere $1.

SECURITY: Passkeys don’t solve every security problem

Why You Should Start Using Passkeys

Passwords have been our first line of defense against hackers since the 1960s. But, now they’re showing their age and limitations in the 21st-century data wars. Not even password managers are safe. Passkeys are now here to help. Here’s why you should switch and enjoy a more secure digital future.

*** end quote ***

Passkeys solve the “password” problem for only one use case.

Use cases are programmer speak for how the application interacts with the User.

If you’re the average plain vanilla User, then they are fine.

But, if you access the application from different hardware, then you can’t use a passkey.

Apple shares the passkeys in its walled garden, so that is another use case addressed.

I’m not sure how Google / Android addresses the use case of a different platform usage.

Having password managers storing the passkey may solve the problem but defeat the concept.

INSPIRATIONAL: What the police od right is seldom recognized

Best cry I’ve ever heard’: Cops describe relief after saving unconscious boy, 3, trapped in his car seat, completely submerged – and reviving him with CPR

  •     Boy was trapped in seat after car had plunged into canal following a car crash
  •     Rescuing officer had to pull car seat ‘as hard as he could’ to break child free
  •     Another officer gave the boy CPR and kept telling him ‘you’re going to be fine’

Officers have described the utter relief after they battled to save an unconscious three-year-old boy who was trapped in his car seat and completely submerged by water for three minutes before he was rescued and revived with CPR by the police.

The child was trapped in his seat after the car had plunged into a canal following a car crash, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department in Florida, which was called to the rescue.

Despite ‘heroic efforts’, the driver was unable to get the boy out of the car, even after good Samaritans saw the accident and tried to help.

Not sure if I would have the huevos muchos grande to dive into a murky Florida canal.  I’d be thinking aligator.  But evidently this man proved his courage and saved a life.  “Whoever Saves a Life Saves the World” is well know in both Jewish and Islamic writings.

“Men are expendable; women and children are not. A tribe or a nation can lose a high percentage of its men and still pick up the pieces and go on … as long as the women and children are saved. But if you fail to save the women and children, you’ve had it, you’re done, you’re through! You join Tyrannosaurus Rex, one more breed that bilged its final test.”  — The Pragmatics of Patriotism (1973) from Heinlein’s address at the U.S. Naval Academy (5 April 1973)

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: The DoJ protected the Bidens while prosecuting DJT45

Feds’ Foreign-Corruption Double Standard: They Protected Bidens Even as They Bore Down on Trumpworld
By Paul Sperry, RealClearInvestigations|March 15, 2023

  • Chi Ping “Patrick” Ho, convicted in a 2018 corruption case. At trial, U.S. prosecutors redacted Hunter Biden’s name from court exhibits and did not explore evidence of his lucrative dealings with the powerful Chinese figure.

*** begin quote ***

At the same time that Department of Justice officials were using spying and corruption statutes to aggressively pursue Donald Trump’s allies based on what turned out to be rumor and innuendo, they declined to use those same laws to investigate evidence of wrongdoing involving Biden family members and one of their corrupt Chinese business partners, DOJ documents and federal court records reveal.

In 2016-2017, the evidence shows, the FBI raided the offices and intercepted the communications of Chi Ping “Patrick” Ho, a Chinese national suspected of espionage even as he was negotiating business deals with former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter and brother James.

DOJ later used information obtained from the searches and wiretaps – which included conversations with the current President’s son and brother – to convict Ho of bribery and money laundering, as part of a separate corruption case involving United Nations officials. But it declined to tap into its trove of evidence – including “over 100,000 emails” – to explore the connections between Ho and the Bidens, who received millions of dollars from Ho and a Chinese intelligence front and discussed sharing office space.

Sorry this is NOT “equal justice under the law”.  “We, The Sheeple” must set things right.  The FBI and other TLAs (Three letter agencies) must be terminated completely.  Those responsible must be procsecurted.  “Just following orders” is NEVER a defense.

Argh!
